B Two Philippine Eagles rescued in Mindanao have found a new home in the forest of Leyte Island as part of the first translocation project of these critically endangered raptors. The two eagles, named Carlito and Uswag, were released around noon on Friday on the outskirts (郊区) of upland Kagbana village, which is considered their new safe shelter. Officials led by Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga and villagers applauded as the two eagles spread their wings and started exploring the Anonang-Lobi Mountain Range, a 60,000-hectare Key Biodiversity Area. “We congratulate the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) for their excellent work in reintroduction. This is the work of many hands, including the community. The community needs a very strong foundation for conservation areas,” Loyzaga said in her speech. Kagbana village chief Ecija, 60, said he was so happy to see Philippine Eagles again after 12 years. “I saw the eagles near our community three times before they disappeared when Super Typhoon Yolanda struck in 2013. We are glad that they are back, and it is our responsibility to protect them,” Ecija told the Philippine News Agency. Mayor (市长) Renomeron said the construction of an access road to Kagbana has opened opportunities in the village for research related to environmental conservation. “We are proud that we are the very first release site for Philippine Eagles outside Mindanao. We are looking forward to seeing these birds flying and reproducing in our forest,” Renomeron said in an interview. The female eagle Carlito got its male name from Balita, a well-known educator who adopted the bird. A few months after the eagle received its name, experts found the eagle to be female. “I was asked if I wanted to change the name. I said, ‘Why change the name, and what’s in the name?’ What is crucial is that we protect and conserve this eagle, whatever the bird’s gender and identity,” Balita told officials and locals during the release ceremony. 24. Which of the following words can replace the underlined word “raptors” in paragraph 1? A. Trees. B. Flowers. C. Insects. D. Birds. 25. What can we learn from Ecija’s words? A. He is responsible for the loss of the eagles. B. His village was frequented by natural disasters. C. His village was once home to Philippine Eagles. D. He is happy to have worked for the PEF for years. 26. What about Carlito is important for Balita? A. Its real gender. B. Its meaningful name. C. The effort to protect it. D. The recognition of its identity. 27. What is the text? A. A news report. B. A science fiction story. C. An advertisement. D. A personal diary. C In 1960 Jane Goodall, a British primatologist (灵长类动物学家), observed chimpanzees in Gombe National Park in Tanzania. At that point, it was thought only humans had the capacity to create and use tools, but the chimpanzees were using thin leaves of grass to fish termites (白蚁) from their mounds (土堆). Since then the distinction between animals and humans has become less obvious. In addition to tool making, chimpanzees — and many other animals besides — display emotion and self-awareness. Studies show that elephants feel sad and rats have empathy. In “The Creative Life of Animals” Carol Gigliotti, a professor in Vancouver, has compiled (汇编) research that examines such behaviour through the lens of creativity. This requires a more generous definition of creativity. Ms Gigliotti suggests considering creativity from the animal’s point of view instead of human’s. “If animals in their own cultures can solve problems or create products of value to them, it seems accurate to consider these as creative,” she writes. Beaver lodges (海狸窝) are a case in point: there is no single model for their construction. Each river or lake has its unique features and beavers create a custom-made structure to adapt to the given habitat — so, in Ms Gigliotti’s opinion, lodges deserve to be considered a creative activity. Though seemingly a book about creativity, the author frequently turns to discuss animal emotion and intelligence. She argues that animal personality is not limited to primate, dogs or cats, but also many other animals including ants, fish and mice. The book makes its strongest case when advocating a revision of how to think about, and act towards, animals. Ms Gigliotti points out that humans are only one of millions of species on Earth. She suggests that animals are individuals with complicated and creative lives of their own. 28. What did Jane Goodall find during her observation? A. Chimpanzees liked to play with termites. B. Only humans had the capacity to use tools. C. The animal could use simple tools to get food. D. There was no distinction between humans and animals. 29. What do we know about “The Creative Life of Animals”? A. It is a fiction book. B. It is written by Jane Goodall. C. It is about the life of chimpanzees. D It offers a new insight into animals. 30. What does the author intend to do in paragraph 4? A. Add some background information. B. Summarize the previous paragraphs. C. Provide an example to support ideas. D. Introduce a new topic for discussion. 31. What might Ms Gigliotti agree with? A. Creativity is unique to human beings. B. Animals deserve human’s recognition. C. Humans are the master of the universe. D. Small animals don’t possess personalities. D Today, you can buy a pair of sneakers (运动鞋) partially made from carbon dioxide pulled out of the atmosphere. But measuring the carbon-reduction benefits of making that pair of sneakers with carbon dioxide is complex. There’s the carbon dioxide that stayed in the ground, a definite carbon reduction. But what about the energy cost of cooling the carbon dioxide into liquid form and transporting it to a production facility? And what about when your kid outgrows the shoes in six months and they can’t be recycled into a new product because those systems aren’t in place yet? Researchers are trying to help companies figure out how to account for each step in a product’s life. As companies try to reduce their carbon footprint, many are doing life cycle assessments to measure the full carbon cost of products, from the obtaining of materials to energy use in manufacturing, from product transport to users’ behavior and end-of-life disposal (处理). It’s an impressively complex measurement, but such bean-counting is needed to hold the planet to a livable temperature, says low-carbon systems expert Andrea Ramirez Ramirez of the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Carbon use can be reduced at many points along the production chain—by using renewable energy in the manufacturing process, for instance, or by adding atmospheric carbon dioxide to the product. But if other points along the chain like transporting consume more energy or give off more carbon dioxide, Andrea notes, the final record may show a decrease rather than a reduction. A product is carbon-reduction only when its production actually removes carbon from the environment, temporarily or permanently. In the rush to create products that can fight climate change, however, some companies have been charged with “greenwashing”—making products appear more environmentally friendly than they really are. Examples include labeling (用标签表明) plastic garbage bags as recyclable when their whole purpose is to be thrown away; using labels such as “eco-friendly” or “100% Natural” without official certification; and claiming a better carbon footprint without acknowledging the existence of even better choices. 32. How does the author lead in the topic of the text? A. By listing specific figures. B. By putting up questions. C. By referring to documents. D. By offering some solutions. 33. What does Andrea think of measuring the carbon cost of products? A. Difficult but meaningful. B. Expensive but promising. C. Energy-saving and affordable. D. Time-consuming and valueless. 34. What can be defined as reducing carbon use in the production chain? A. Using renewable energy in production. B. Changing carbon dioxide into material. C. Reducing carbon footprint in products’ life. D. Cutting down carbon dioxide in transporting. 35. What can we know from the last paragraph? A. Companies are sparing no efforts to reduce carbon use. B. Plastic garbage bags must be labeled as “eco-friendly”. C. Most products are less environmentally friendly than before. D. There is a long way to cut some companies’ ”greenwashing“. Your Path to Emotional Maturity Emotions play a critical part in life. In order to grow and be better than before, you must learn to be emotionally intelligent. Let’s explore some powerful strategies to help you become emotionally mature! Try using “I” statements Whenever you feel hurt you need to tell others your feelings in a considerate way. The best way to do this is by using “I” statements instead of “You” statements. For example, you should use the statement: “I feel miserable and heartbroken” instead of “You make me feel miserable and heartbroken”. ____36____ Own your feelings If you want to change yourself, start with taking ownership of your feelings. However, in some situations, instead of owning your feelings, you tend to deflect (转移) them and make others feel guilty about how you are feeling. ____37____ Embrace them as a part of yourself because they are a part of you, right? ____38____ People interact with us like we are mind readers sometimes; this happens mostly in relationships. Your partner would want you to know exactly what they want and when they want it; this can be extremely annoying. Just as you aren’t a mind reader, others aren’t either. You need to share your needs with the other person, and they need to do the same with you. Mind your actions and words Often, you say a lot when you are emotional, especially when you are angry. ____39____ You need to mind whatever you say and do; this can either make the other person love or hate you. The strategy in a stressful situation is to focus on yourself instead of focusing on others; this will calm you down instantly. Always question your thoughts Actions and words have the same importance; this is what I need you to understand. In some situations, your loved ones could be hurting you through their words or their actions, and you could also be wrong. ____40____ What happens in more than 70% of situations is that you let negative thoughts take hold of you; this is completely wrong. A. Attempt to be mind readers. B. Communicate your needs. C. You’d better not let negative thoughts question your judgment. D. Thus, rather than dump them on others, learn to take charge of your feelings. E. The approach is non-aggressive and describes you as emotionally mature. F. If not controlled, it can have severe consequences, especially in your relationship. G. Let’s say that you get into a fight with your partner, and you also get hurt. In this age of environmental crises, perhaps it comes no surprise that Stella Bowles found-one in her own backyard What is unique is her ____41____ to do something about it. She picked it up and heard a strange voice shouting, “Your child was stealing books, and we caught her. You’d better come quickly! ” The cry of a little girl and the shouting of people around her came through the line. She looked back at her daughter, who was watching TV. That’s when she understood what was going on. Of course, she could have just put the phone down and ignored it because it had nothing to do with her. But she was a teacher; it could have been one of her students. During the call, she could imagine that the little girl who had done wrong must have been afraid to face the situation alone. After hesitating (犹豫) , she asked for the bookstore’s address and hurried over. Just as she expected, a little girl with tears stood in the bookstore while the adults around her strictly scolded (责骂) her. She rushed up to the poor little girl, held her in her arms, and turned to the salesperson next to her, saying, “What’s the matter? You can talk to me; I’m her mother. Please stop scolding the child. ” After learning the fact, she paid the fine before taking the little girl out of the bookstore. Then the teacher saw the girl’s face, a mix of tears and fear on it. She then took the little girl to her home. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ One afternoon, years later, there was a knock on the door. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 商丘市一高2024~2025学年第二学期月考考试 高一英语试卷 第一部分:听力(满分30分) 听下面5段对话。 Which room has the man finished decorating? He thinks education has changed his life. C. All his books have been made into movies. C 19. A 20. Nicholas Sparks is an American author and storyteller whose books have consistently been turned into major Hollywood films. Although not all of his books were sold to Hollywood, all have been The New York Times best-sellers. He has sold over 97 million copies worldwide, with over 65 million of them within the United States alone. He lives with his family in North Carolina. He is also considered to be very generous with his money. In 2011, he created the Nicholas Sparks Foundation to make more opportunities available to children from poor families. His foundation, which he started with his wife, creates scholarships for children from low-income families in rural communities. Sparks has had a very successful career, and he owes that to education. “The education I received prepared me for the world I would be facing in the future,” he said. Even though he is worth an estimated 75 million dollars or so, Sparks seems to live the values he presents in his books. A Things to do in London this weekend Take a look at our lists of exactly what is opening up in London. Lambeth Country Show The festival of countryside won’t be going ahead in its usual home of Brockwell Park this year. And it is being held online instead. All your favourite events of the fair will be part of the virtual edition (虚拟版本) this weekend, including the highly expected Vegetable Sculpture Competition and the other usual flower show competitions, craft markets and music performances. D He is happy to have worked for the PEF for years. 26. What about Carlito is important for Balita? A. Its real gender. B. Its meaningful name. C. The effort to protect it. D. The recognition of its identity. 27. What is the text? A. A news report. B. A science fiction story. C. An advertisement. D. A personal diary. D 25. C 26. C 27. 根据画线词的上文“Two Philippine Eagles rescued in Mindanao have found a new home in the forest of Leyte Island (两只在棉兰老岛获救的菲律宾鹰在莱特岛的森林里找到了新家)”可推知,该项目针对的是菲律宾鹰这种濒危物种,画线词意思应该是“猛禽”,属于鸟类,可以用Birds来替代。 根据第四段中Ecija所说的话“I saw the eagles near our community three times before they disappeared when Super Typhoon Yolanda struck in 2013. We are glad that they are back, and it is our responsibility to protect them (在2013年超级台风“海燕”来袭之前,我在我们社区附近见过三次鹰。我们很高兴他们回来了,保护他们是我们的责任)”可知,Ecija曾三次在社区附近看到菲律宾鹰,现在它们回到这一社区。这表明他的村庄曾经是这些鹰的栖息地。故选C项。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中Balita所说的话“What is crucial is that we protect and conserve this eagle, whatever the bird’s gender and identity (最重要的是我们要保护这只鹰,不管它的性别和身份是什么)”可知,对他来说,重要的是保护这只鹰的努力。 通读全文,尤其是第一段中“Two Philippine Eagles rescued in Mindanao have found a new home in the forest of Leyte Island (两只在棉兰老岛获救的菲律宾鹰在莱特岛的森林里找到了新家)”可知,文章报道了两只菲律宾鹰被转移到新栖息地的事件,并引用了多位官员和村民的发言。 故选A项。 C In 1960 Jane Goodall, a British primatologist (灵长类动物学家), observed chimpanzees in Gombe National Park in Tanzania. D. It offers a new insight into animals. C 29. D 30. C 31. 根据第一段“In 1960 Jane Goodall, a British primatologist (灵长类动物学家), observed chimpanzees in Gombe National Park in Tanzania. At that point, it was thought only humans had the capacity to create and use tools, but the chimpanzees were using thin leaves of grass to fish termites (白蚁) from their mounds (土堆).(1960年,英国灵长类动物学家珍·古道尔在坦桑尼亚贡贝国家公园观察了黑猩猩。在那个时候,人们认为只有人类才有创造和使用工具的能力,但黑猩猩用薄草叶从他们的土丘里钓白蚁)”可知,珍·古道尔在观察中发现黑猩猩可以使用简单的工具来获取食物。故选C项。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“In “The Creative Life of Animals” Carol Gigliotti, a professor in Vancouver, has compiled (汇编) research that examines such behaviour through the lens of creativity.(在《动物的创造性生活》一书中,温哥华教授Carol Gigliotti汇编了一项研究,该研究从创造力的角度考察了动物的这种行为)”和第三段中“‘If animals in their own cultures can solve problems or create products of value to them, it seems accurate to consider these as creative,’ she writes.(她写道:“如果动物在它们自己的文化中能够解决问题或创造对它们有价值的产品,那么将其视为创造性似乎就是正确的。”)” 根据第四段“Beaver lodges (海狸窝) are a case in point: there is no single model for their construction. Each river or lake has its unique features and beavers create a custom-made structure to adapt to the given habitat — so, in Ms Gigliotti’s opinion, lodges deserve to be considered a creative activity.(海狸小屋就是一个很好的例子:它们的建造没有单一的模型。 根据最后一段中“Ms Gigliotti points out that humans are only one of millions of species on Earth. She suggests that animals are individuals with complicated and creative lives of their own.(吉利奥蒂女士指出,人类只是地球上数百万物种中的一种。她认为动物是有着自己复杂而富有创造性的生活的个体)”可知,Gigliotti女士认为人类只是众多物种之一,动物也有自己复杂而富有创造性的生活,由此推知,她会赞同“动物应得到人类的认可”这一观点。故选B项。 D Today, you can buy a pair of sneakers (运动鞋) partially made from carbon dioxide pulled out of the atmosphere. B 33. A 34. C 35. 根据第一段的两个问题“But what about the energy cost of cooling the carbon dioxide into liquid form and transporting it to a production facility? And what about when your kid outgrows the shoes in six months and they can’t be recycled into a new product because those systems aren’t in place yet?(但是,将二氧化碳冷却成液态并将其运送到生产设施的能源成本如何呢? 如果你的孩子在6个月后就穿不下了,而这些鞋子又不能被回收制成新产品,因为这些系统还没有到位,那该怎么办?)”可知,作者是通过提问题来引入话题的。故选B项。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段的句子“It’s an impressively complex measurement, but such bean-counting is needed to hold the planet to a livable temperature, says low-carbon systems expert Andrea Ramirez Ramirez of the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.(荷兰代尔夫特理工大学的低碳系统专家Andrea Ramirez说,这是一项令人印象深刻的复杂测量,但要将地球保持在适宜居住的温度,需要这样的计算。)” 故选A项。 根据第四段的句子“Carbon use can be reduced at many points along the production chain—by using renewable energy in the manufacturing process, for instance, or by adding atmospheric carbon dioxide to the product.(碳的使用可以在生产链的许多环节上减少——例如,通过在制造过程中使用可再生能源,或者通过向产品中添加大气中的二氧化碳。)”和“A product is carbon-reduction only when its production actually removes carbon from the environment, temporarily or permanently.(一种产品只有在其生产过程中暂时或永久地从环境中去除碳时,才算减碳。)” 根据最后一段“In the rush to create products that can fight climate change, however, some companies have been charged with “greenwashing”—making products appear more environmentally friendly than they really are. Examples include labeling (用标签表明) plastic garbage bags as recyclable when their whole purpose is to be thrown away; using labels such as “eco-friendly” or “100% Natural” without official certification; and claiming a better carbon footprint without acknowledging the existence of even better choices.(然而,在急于创造能够对抗气候变化的产品的过程中,一些公司被指控“漂绿”——使产品看起来比实际更环保。 Your Path to Emotional Maturity Emotions play a critical part in life. In order to grow and be better than before, you must learn to be emotionally intelligent. Let’s explore some powerful strategies to help you become emotionally mature! Try using “I” statements Whenever you feel hurt, you need to tell others your feelings in a considerate way. Mind your actions and words Often you say a lot when you are emotional, especially when you are angry. E 37. D 38. B 39. F 40. 【36题详解】 上文“For example, you should use the statement: “I feel miserable and heartbroken” instead of “You make me feel miserable and heartbroken”. 【37题详解】 上文“However, in some situations, instead of owning your feelings, you tend to deflect (转移) them and make others feel guilty about how you are feeling. (然而,在某些情况下,你不是承认自己的感受,而是倾向于将它们转移,并让他人对你的感觉感到内疚。)”阐述了人们错误的做法是将感受转移到他人身上,可推断下文应该阐述正确的做法。 D项“因此,与其把它们扔给别人,不如学着控制自己的情绪。”指出了正确的做法,与上文构成因果关系;选项中的“dump them on others”呼应上文“you tend to deflect (转移) them and make others feel guilty about how you are feeling, learn to take charge of your feelings”,同时,下文中“them”指代D选项中的your feelings,并进一步强调情感属于自己一部分,和他人无关,前后呼应。故选D。 【38题详解】 空处为小标题,应该首先要和其他段落标题结构相似,运用简单的祈使句;由下文“People interact with us like we are mind readers sometimes; this happens mostly in relationships. Your partner would want you to know exactly what they want and when they want it; this can be extremely annoying. Just as you aren’t a mind reader, others aren’t either. You need to share your needs with the other person, and they need to do the same with you.(有时人们与我们的互动就像我们能读心术一样;这主要发生在人际关系中。你的伴侣希望你确切地知道他们想要什么,什么时候想要;这是非常恼人的。就像你不会读心术一样,其他人也不会。你需要与他人分享你的需求,他们也需要与你分享。)”可知,本段主要阐述要与他人沟通自己的需求,强调交流的重要性;B选项“Communicate your needs.”(沟通你的需求)能够概括本段主旨。故选B。 【39题详解】 上文“Often, you say a lot when you are emotional, especially when you are angry. (通常,当你情绪激动时,尤其是当你生气时,你会说很多话。)”说明了人情绪激动时候会不在意自己言语, F选项“If not controlled, it can have severe consequences, especially in your relationship.(如果不控制,它将有严重的后果,尤其在人际关系上)”承接上文,阐述情绪激动时,尤其是当你生气时,你会说很多话如果不控制会带来的后果。下文“You need to mind whatever you say and do.(你需要在意自己的所说所做)”告诉读者正确的做法,F项承上启下,故选F。 【40题详解】 上文“In some situations, your loved ones could be hurting you through their words or their actions, and you could also be wrong.(在某些情况下,你所爱的人可能会通过言语或行为伤害到你,而你也可能犯错。)” C选项“You’d better not let negative thoughts question your judgment.”(你最好不要让消极的想法质疑你的判断。) 同时,C项中“negative thoughts”与下文“What happens in more than 70% of situations is that you let negative thoughts take hold of you; this is completely wrong.(在超过70%的情况下,你会让消极思想占据主导地位;这是完全错误的。)” In this age of environmental crises, perhaps it comes no surprise that Stella Bowles found-one in her own backyard What is unique is her ____41____ to do something about it. The little girl, feeling the kindness and understanding from the teacher, gradually calmed down and opened up about her experiences. The teacher promised to help her sort out the situation and make sure it wouldn’t happen again. As time wore on, the two formed a bond of trust and friendship. After that, the girl graduated. One afternoon, years later, there was a knock on the door. The teacher opened it to find a young woman standing there, holding a bouquet of flowers and looking nervous yet excited. It was the little girl she had once rescued from the bookstore, now grown up and confident. She explained how the teacher’s actions had changed her life, giving her the courage to face her mistakes and grow into a responsible adult.
