By drawing patterns on the surface of a cup of tea, Chabaixi, an ancient Chinese tea trick
shown in a recent TV drama, has become popular quickly for it is similar to modern latte art
(咖
啡拉花艺术 )
. However, ten years ago, this special skill was close to disappearing completely.
Zhang Zhifeng, a practitioner
(从业者)
of Chabaixi, found scenes of Chabaixi in the drama in鄄
terested ordinary people greatly, so he started to try his best to recover
(恢复)
it.
Chabaixi can create endless patterns such as bamboos and mountains or even calligraphy
(书
法)
. There are over a dozen steps from grinding
(碾碎)
tea for fine powder to pouring boiled
water stirring the mixture for thick froth
(泡沫)
and finally drawing the patterns. It is different
from making latte because people use clear water to put into the cup instead of milk. But when
the water touches the surface of whipped
(搅打起泡沫的 )
tea, it turns into a white color and
disappears in 20 minutes. The process before the drawing is known as the tea鄄making skill, dian鄄
cha, the quality of which is important to whether patterns can be successfully produced later.
Chabaixi is one of the countless forms of tea鄄making skills in China. The importance of
Chabaixi is that not only is this skill special in the world, but also gives us a window into peo鄄
ple蒺s lifestyle in the Song Dynasty, a period of time when relaxation activities in some ways are
like what we have now,
”
Zhang said.
“
This skill is key to the tea culture of the Song Dynasty and it would be a shame to let it
disappear. This skill must be passed on to the next generations so they can understand its history,
”
Zhang said.
5. What do we know about Chabaixi?
A. It is painted with whipped milk.
B. It develops based on latte art.
C. It mainly describes beautiful scenery.
D. It needs much practice before becoming a skilled Chabaixi practitioner.
6. When was the most popular time for Chabaixi?
A. The Song Dynasty. B. The Tang Dynasty.
C. In the year 2017. D. Nearly 30 years ago.
7. What is the third paragraph mainly about?
A. The beginning of Chabaixi.
B. The special quality of Chabaixi.

Are you tall or short? How do you feel about yourself?
I was walking down the street in Beijing the other day and passed a couple sitting on a
bench.
“
She must be 180 centimeters tall,
”
I heard the woman say to the man. I turned to look at
them straight in the eye at once. I felt angry and awkward
(尴尬的)
that they were talking about
me. The woman suddenly said,
“
Oh, she must understand Chinese.
” “
Yes, I do,
”
I replied.
Then, they both smiled and laughed, and so did I.
This was yet another time in China when strangers stared or talked about my appearance
(外表)
. It蒺s either because of my unusually tall height as a woman or because I am a foreigner.
As a shy person, this makes me feel quite uncomfortable. I just want to fit in! I usually just try
to ignore
(忽视 )
such people, but this time, as soon as I talked to the couple, they changed
from strangers to people I just shared a warm and funny moment with.
It reminded me how important it is to have the right attitude
(态度)
and to be understand鄄
ing. There aren蒺t that many foreigners in China, so it蒺s only natural that Chinese people will feel
curious about foreigners and how they look different. Although, when people stare at you it feels
a bit hostile
(充满敌意的)
, most people are simply curious and may even want to chat with you.
In short, I can蒺t change this situation. The only thing I can change is my attitude toward it.
Life is too short to be influenced by the little things. We need to enjoy each moment with a posi鄄
tive
(积极的)
and open attitude!
9. The writer heard the woman talking about her appearance because .
A. she understood Chinese
B. the woman spoke loudly to her
C. they knew well each other
D. she was proud of her appearance
10. What蒺s the correct order of the following events?
①The writer蒺s attitude to strangers蒺 staring and talking began to change.
②The writer felt angry and awkward.
③The woman蒺s word about the writer蒺s height was heard by the writer.
④The writer replied to the woman and shared a smile with them.
A. ①④③② B. ③①②④
C. ③②④① D. ①③④②
11. In Paragraph 3, we can know the writer .
A. was still angry with strangers蒺 staring and talking
B. couldn蒺t understand why people were curious about her
C. was interested in telling her life in a foreign country
D. tried to put herself in other people蒺s shoes
12. What has the writer learned from her experience?
A. It蒺s hard for a foreigner to live abroad.
B. It蒺s impolite to judge people by their looks.
C. We should have a positive and open attitude.
D. You will never fit in with the people in foreign countries.

Georges Seurat, born in 1859, is a very famous artist in France. He created many paintings in
his short lifetime. People love his paintings for three reasons.
One of the most well鄄known paintings is called A Sunday Afternoon on the lle de la Grande
Jatte. Seurat created this painting in a new style called
“
pointillism
(点彩画法 )”
, which uses
small dots
(点)
of paint. By putting two colors next to each other, peole could see a third color.
This painting is full of some small things which happened in French people蒺s daily life in the
1880s. There are several women wearing nice clothes. One woman is even walking a monkey.
The others are enjoying themselves in dancing and singing. Many of the men are dressed up in
jackets and hats. And some people can see dogs running around and children playing. There are
boats on the water. It looks like a perfect summer day.
This painting makes me feel very calm. Even though a park like this could be a noisy place,
Seurat makes it look peaceful. He paints people sitting quietly in the shade
(阴凉处)
. Through鄄
out the painting, people are relaxing on the cool, green grass and enjoying a beautiful day.
This painting was finished in 1884. Seurat spent two years finishing this beautiful painting.
People are thankful that he completed it. It is a wonderful painting because of Seurat蒺s use of
pointillism, his attention to details, and the peaceful feeling he created.
13. Which of the following can be painting?
A. Some old men. B. Some dogs playing around a tree.
C. A ship on the water. D. Several women wearing beautiful clothes.
106
14. The underlined word
“
it
”
refers to .
A. a sense of satisfaction B. this beautiful painting
C. the new style
“
pointillism
”
D. a detail in the painting
15. How is the text organized?
A. B. C. D.
16. In which part of a website can we read the passage?
A. Culture. B. Art. C. Sports. D. Nature.

An exhibition

on the great Chinese ancient encyclopedia
(百

Yongle Dadian opened at the Lanzhou Museum in Gansu
Province. It collected more than 7,000 kinds of ancient Chinese classics
and records, covering literature
(文学 )
, art, history and geography from
the pre鄄Qin period to the early Ming Dynasty.
With a total of 11,095 volumes
(卷)
and about 370 million words, the Yongle Dadian was
regarded as
“
the largest encyclopedia in the world
”
. To protect this world鄄famous classic, Emper鄄
or Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty ordered a re鄄recording of it. The copying work took five years to
finish. But band鄄copied books have been gradually lost over the long period of history. Today,
only over 400 volumes and a few pieces of the Yongle Dadian remain in the world.
The Chinese government promised to put greater efforts into digitizing
(数字化)
to ancient
books and encouraged libraries to open their collections for the public. This action certainly made
the Chinese culture in ancient books
“
alive
”
.
Similarly, the Siku Quanshu, a collection of Chinese classical works, is being digitized in
Lanzhou, Gansu Province. Created in the Qing Dynasty, Siku Quanshu had seven copies. But now,
only three and a half copies remain. To bring them closer to the public, digitization efforts began
in 2021 and are expected to be completed by 2024.
Ancient books are important to China in carrying on its cultural traditions and improving its
cultural power. At the same time, they can also be used for researching the development of cul鄄
tural products.
41. What fields does the Yongle Dadian include?
42. How many words are there in the Yongle Dadian?

Dear friends,
I feel so honored to make a speech about how to develop team spirit. Having team spirit is
important to form a good work environment and raise the working speed.
There are some different ways to help build strong team spirit. First, we should set clear
goals to make sure that everyone can understand the team蒺s aims. In this way, we know how to
do our best to achieve these aims. Second, we had better encourage communication because open
and honest communication is the key to letting every member of the team take an active part.
Finally, I think trust and respect are also important for a strong team. We should create different
chances to build up trust and respect between team members.
I hope these ways can help develop team spirit and everyone can pay more attention to team
spirit to achieve their goals.
Thanks for listening.
