Have you ever heard of Pi Day? You may think it is all about having pies. That蒺s only partly
right. Pi Day is actually about maths! Every year on March 14th, maths lovers and scientists
celebrate Pi Day to honour the special number π
(

.
Pi Day is a young international festival. It was founded in 1988 by Exploratorium, a museum

Mathematics by UNESCO, an international organisation.
There are many kinds of celebrations of Pi Day. Some people choose to memorize as many
digits
(数字 )
as they can, while some take part in a Pi parade, enjoying delicious pies and
dancing to music. Besides, people use a writing style called Pilish to celebrate Pi Day. In a Pilish
sentence, the number of letters in each word matches the digit of π. The first word has three
letters, the second has one letter, the third has four letters, and so on. An engineer, Michael Keith,

wife. They worked hard all day and never smiled. Their house was small with a small hole dug in
the ground, where the family could hide if cyclones
(龙卷风)

They had a dog called Toto and Dorothy always played with it. Today, however, they were
not playing. Uncle Henry sat on the doorstep and looked worried. Dorothy stood in the door with
Toto in her arms. Aunt Em was washing the dishes.
They heard a low sound of the wind, and Uncle Henry and Dorothy could see the waving
grass before the coming storm.

strong wind. The house shook so hard that she lost her footing and fell down on the floor.

In the seventh grade, I was crazy about computer games. At that time, I went to bed very
late every night. I couldn蒺t get up in the morning. I slept in class and didn蒺t listen carefully. So I
failed the exam. I felt that my classmates laughed at me, and my teachers and parents worried

friends for help. From then on, I didn蒺t play computer games anymore. I developed good learning
habits.
Now, I will graduate from this school. I must be thankful to all my teachers and my
