People want to know if pre-made meals are healthy enough for teenagers. Pre-made meals refer to half-finished or finished dishes that are already cooked or prepared, according to the China Cuisine Association (中国烹饪协会). There are several kinds of pre-made foods: ready-to-eat food, such as canned food or cooked food in packages, and ready-to-heat or ready-to-cook food. These foods usually r 1 heating or cooking first before being served.
Many people think that pre-made foods are less healthy because they usually need to be kept in f 2 . “In fact, freezing itself does not cause nutrition (营养) loss,” Liu Junya, a 33-year-old professor in diet in Beijing said. “But nutrition loss does happen when we heat or fry the food.
Vitamins B and C in meat and vegetables can be lost during that p 3 . By being heated or cooked twice or more, pre-made foods can be less nutritious than freshly prepared and cooked foods,” Liu said.
“B 4 , many pre-made food companies put the taste of food ahead of nutrition,” said Liu. This leads to higher level of salt and sugar in the food and may cause serious health problems in the long term.
Additives (添加剂) are a 5 problem related to pre-made foods. They are mainly used to improve the flavour of the food, as well as to keep it, increase its shelf life, and color it. In China, food industry has already had modern technology to keep pre-made foods without any additives. In this way some food can be kept for a longer time. But it’s n 6 that customers only buy pre-made foods from big and qualified (有资质的) food companies or supermarkets.
It is hoped that laws on pre-made meals can ensure better nutrition and hygiene (卫生). “In this way we hope pre-made meals will be a 7 by more and will bring convenience instead of worries to people. But at present, no one can tell.” Liu said.

Many scientists believe our love of sugar may actually be an addiction (瘾). When we eat or drink sugary foods, the sugar enters our blood and affects the parts of our brain that make us feel good. Then the good feeling 1 , leaving us wanting more. All tasty foods do this, but sugar has a particularly strong effect. In this way, it is in fact an addictive drug, one that doctors recommend we all cut down on.
“It seems like every time I 2 an illness and trace (追踪) a path to the first cause, I find my way back to sugar,” says scientist Richard Johnson. One-third of adults worldwide have high blood pressure, and up to 346 million have diabetes (糖尿病). Why? “Sugar, we believe, is one of the factors, if not the major factors,” says Johnson.
Our bodies are designed to survive on very little sugar. Early humans often had very little food, so our bodies learned to be very efficient (有效率的) in storing sugar as fat. In this way, we had 3 stored for when there was no food. But today, most people have more than enough. So the very thing that once saved us may now be killing us.
So what is the 4 ? It’s obvious that we need to eat less sugar. The trouble is, in today’s world, it’s extremely difficult to avoid. From breakfast cereals to after-dinner desserts, our foods are increasingly filled with it. Some manufacturers (制造商) even use sugar to replace taste in foods. However, they are advertised as 5 in fat. So while the foods seem healthier, large amounts of sugar are often added.
But some people are fighting against sugar and trying to create a healthier environment. Many schools are replacing sugary desserts with healthier options, like fruit. Other schools are trying to encourage exercise by building facilities like walking tracks 6 students and others in the community can exercise. The battle has not yet been lost.

The human body is a complex machine. From the day we were born, our bodies grow and change in response to our e 1 , diet, and habits. The body has many different organ systems and parts that work together to allow us to breathe, move, see, talk, and digest food all at the same time. Most of the time we don’t care what is happening in our bodies; usually it is only when we get sick or feel pain that we notice.
Many people do not take enough care of their complex machines. Bad habits like smoking, drinking too much alcohol, and eating junk food damage our bodies. Stress can also cause h 2 problems. People who worry a lot or have busy jobs often don’t get enough sleep, or don’t eat properly. We also damage our bodies by playing sports or having accidents. B 3 , a recent survey in the U.K. found that 14 percent of people had visited a hospital clinic in the previous three months. The two most c 4 reasons were for injury and poisoning.
Just like any machine, different body parts sometimes go wrong from old age. In fact, a study in the U.S. found that 60 percent to 70 percent of all patients in the Emergency Room were aged 75 or over. Luckily, older people who s 5 from an illness or injury can now receive treatment to help extend their lives. Due to the increase in the population of elderly people, gerontology (老年医学) is now one of the fastest g 6 areas of medicine. It is now common for older people with damaged joints, for example, to have surgery to replace the old joint with a new one made of plastic or metal.
As with any machine, the better you take care of it, the longer it will last. Of course, the best way to take care of your amazing machine is to eat the right foods, do sports r 7 , and get enough sleep.
Oh, and don’t forget to smile!

(2024·上海浦东新·一模)Do teenagers know how to sleep? If you’re the parent of teens, you might be laughing to yourself. That’s all they know how to do. In 1 , teens might not know enough about how to sleep, when to sleep and why. As far as I’m concerned, one important element (因素) is missing sleep education.
Just as we focus on our diets and exercise for health, we need to consider sleep 2 to our mental, physical and psychological health. “Good” sleep is sleep that is long enough to allow your brain to remove the side effects (副作用) of daytime brain activity. Consistent (固定的) bed times and wake up times are the key to keeping our sleep cycles. When they are 3 , our sleep is affected.
Teens are social creatures, and the most attractive social “gathering” place these days is on their digital devices. Being exposed (暴露) to blue light from our screens 4 sleep. Ideally, we should avoid blue light for at least half an hour before bed. But social media and homework that requires screen time mean too many kids are powering up their devices when their bodies should be powering down for the night. Going to bed too late is only one part of sleep problems. 5 contributing to (导致) sleep issues are eating too late, taking naps, and tailing to get enough exercise. In other words, these people never learned how to sleep.
Over time, poor sleep 6 to decline in mood. It also contributes to a lot of medical issues, from being fat to heart disease. Significantly, when I speak to my adult patients who are struggling with sleep issues, nearly all of them say their sleep problems started in high school.
Therefore, I suggest sleep education. Otherwise, we won’t necessarily solve the health, safety and economic issues of sleepy teens.

(2024·上海长宁·二模)TCM wins the hearts of young people for its effectiveness.
Jin Ying, 25, is a lover of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). She took part in a three-month training course on acupuncture and tuina (针灸推拿) in the winter of 2023 at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.
Jin’s life has been different since the training. She changed her life habits after learning the Five Elements theory (五行学说). For example, she avoided sweating too much during exercise in winter because the cold of winter means people should slow down, according to TCM. For her, learning these skills and theories was not about becoming a TCM doctor but rather about accepting a new lifestyle.
She is not an unusual example of young people loving TCM. A survey by China Youth Daily showed that 93.3 percent of the 1,000 young people had tried different TCM treatments.
“I have seen a rising number of young people come to me for neck and back pains, which are usually related to the elderly,” said Ma Huifang, a TCM doctor at Guoyitang, a TCM hospital affiliated with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.
Between Western medicine and TCM, young people often choose TCM “due to its effectiveness,” according to Ma.
Some people question why TCM treats the same illnesses with different prescriptions (处方). “This is actually an advantage of TCM, rather than a shortcoming, as it can be a more accurate treatment for different patients,” Ma explained.
Younger age groups are welcoming TCM, and, at the same time, TCM is also benefiting young people. As Jin noted, “It helps young people understand Chinese medicine and learn why it is believed to be a treasure of our Chinese culture.”
1.Acupuncture and tuina 2023 is a training course, isn’t it?
2.What did Jin learn about exercise in winter after the training?
3.What’s the purpose for Jin’s learning the skills and theories of TCM?
4.How do you understand the underlined sentence “She is… loving TCM” (in Para, 4)?
5.Why does TCM treat the same illnesses with different prescriptions?
6.What’s your opinion on TCM? Show your reason(s).

(24-25九年级上·上海黄浦·期中)Doctors say anger can be very dangerous. We have to learn how to deal with it. They warn that anger can lead to heart disease, stomach problems, headaches, emotional problems and even cancer.
Anger is a normal emotion that we all feel from time to time. Some people express anger openly in a peaceful and reasonable way. Some people are so angry that they shout or cry to show their anger. But other people keep their anger inside. They can not or will not express it. This is called repressing (压抑性的) anger.
In the past many doctors thought that repressing anger was more dangerous to a person’s health than expressing it.
They said that when a person is angry, the brain produces the same hormones (荷尔蒙). Their hearts beat faster and blood pressure goes up. In general the person feels excited and ready to act.
Some doctors say that both repressing and expressing anger can be dangerous. They believe if you express anger with strong emotion, you may develop heart disease, and they believe if you keep the anger inside, you may face a greater danger of high blood pressure.
Doctors say we have to learn how to deal with anger. They say the first step is to agree that you are angry and to recognize the real cause of the anger, then decide if the cause is serious enough to get angry about. If it is, they say, “Do not express your anger while angry. Wait until your anger has cooled down and you are able to express yourself peacefully and reasonably.”
Doctors say that the best way to deal with anger is to find humour in the situation that has made you angry. They said that laughter is much healthier than anger.

They say the first step is to agree that you are angry and to recognize the real cause of the anger, then decide if the cause is serious enough to get angry about.
