Passage 1
I have to admit that
it definitely feels good on
my first day back in San
Francisco.
It is said that over 3,000 lives were claimed in the 1906 earthquake and the series of fires occurred after it, bringing about great losses to the city.
My hotel was near downtown in the Mission District.
Here, an art movement called the “Mission School” started.
In the afternoon, I headed to a local museum that showed the historical changes in California.
In 1848, gold was discovered here, which started a gold rush. Afterwards, many people arrived to seek their fortune.
Many Chinese arrived
during this period.
To solve their financial problems, they earned a living by opening up shops.
This evening, I wore neat jeans and boots to Chinatown and picked a Cantonese restaurant where I ordered some cheese mushrooms and fortune cookie served on china plates.
Apart from this, I also found some poetry and travel journals in folding papers that were written by minority people.
Tomorrow evening, I am going to a jazz bar in the Richmond District.

Passage 2
The Chinatown in San Francisco is the oldest in America.
The climate is mild all year
round, meaning it is the
best region to escape the
cold winter.
Historically, Chinese immigrants settled here during the railroad construction and gold rush period.
Now, the majority of residents in
Chinatown are still ethnic Chinese, which allows visitors to
experience a real taste of China.
There are many famous sites, including Dragon Gate, the Tin How Temple, Bank of Canton
and Portsmouth Square, to name but a few.
Visitors can spend hours exploring the super interesting sights, smells, and sounds of China.
The stores in the Chinatown offer many items made of Chinese materials, containing souvenirs, collections and clothing.
All kinds of traditional Chinese herbal medicine can be found everywhere, too.
There is also Chinese food to suit
everyone’s taste, with traditional dishes from all over China.
Chinatowns are an important part of the diverse culture of the USA, which allow visitors to experience traditional Chinese culture first hand.
