Last summer, a group of high -school students, including me, volunteered to participate in an environmental protection project in a remote mountainous area. The moment we arrived, we were attracted by the breathtaking scenery of the mountains covered with thick forests and the clear streams winding through the valleys.

Our task was to clean up the garbage left by tourists in the forest and raise environmental awareness among the local villagers. At first, everything went smoothly. We worked in groups, picking up plastic bottles, paper bags, and other waste. The local villagers were friendly and showed great interest in our project.

However, one day, while we were deep in the forest, a sudden heavy rainstorm hit. The rain poured down so heavily that the small streams quickly turned into raging torrents. We tried to find a safe place to take shelter, but the path we came from was already flooded. Worse still, some of the group members were starting to panic.
