根据“Lantau Trail”部分关键句“This 4.5km trail is rated as a challenging route requiring an average of 2h 32min to complete. (这条 4.5公里长的步道被认为 是一条具有挑战性的路线,平均需要 2小时 32分钟才能完成。)”可知,Lantau Trail平均 需要 2小时 32分钟才能完成;根据“Ngong Ping Village Trail”部分关键句“This 1.9km route takes an average of 30min to complete, which accounts for its easy rating. (这条 1.9公里的 路线平均需要 30分钟才能完成,这是其易于评级的原因。)”可知,Ngong Ping Village Trail平均需要 30分钟才能完成;根据“Sha Tin Trail”部分关键句“It takes about 1h 47min to finish this moderately challenging 6.6km route. (完成这条中等难度的 6.6公里路线大约需要 1小时 47分钟。)”可知,Sha Tin Trail需要 1小时 47分钟才能完成;根据“Cheung Chau Trail”部分关键句“As a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3h 8min to complete 11.7km. (作为一条具有中等挑战性的路线,完成 11.7公里平均需要 3小时 8分 钟。)”可知,Cheung Chau Trail平均需要 3小时 8分钟才能完成,综上所述,Ngong Ping Village Trail用时最短。故选 B项。 【22题】细节理解题。根据“Ngong Ping Village Trail”部分关键句“Ngong Ping Village has the largest Buddhism statues of its kind in the world. (昂坪村拥有世界上最大的佛教雕 像。)”可知,昂坪村拥有世界上最大的佛教雕像;根据“Sha Tin Trail”部分关键句“This trail features Hong Kong’s most unusual temple, the largest museum, and best shopping malls. (这 条路径以香港最不寻常的寺庙、最大的博物馆和最好的购物中心为特色。)”可知,Sha Tin Trail有香港最不寻常的寺庙,综上所述,两者的共同点在于它们都有宗教气氛。故选 C项。 【23题】细节理解题。根据“Cheung Chau Trail”部分关键句“Cheung Chau has been a major fishing port for centuries and still has a large fishing fleet. The scenic ferry journey is one of the highlights of visiting this island. (长洲几个世纪以来一直是主要的渔港,至今仍拥有庞大 的捕鱼船队。风景优美的渡轮之旅是游览这个岛屿的亮点之一。)”可知,长洲几个世纪以 来一直是主要的渔港,由此可知,在这里我们可以欣赏渔业风光。故选 A项。 D 25. B 26. A 27. 根据文章第一段中“Each chair, handmade by a different artist, symbolized a mental health issue that the artist had personally confronted.(每把椅子都是由不同 的艺术家手工制作的,象征着艺术家们亲身面对的一种心理健康问题)”以及第五段中 “…by opening it up to the public and inviting guests to pull up a chair and talk about the art — and how it relates to their own mental health journeys.(通过向公众开放,并邀请客人拉过一把 椅子,谈论艺术和他们自己的心理健康道路之间的关系)”可知,这个展览的目的是引发大 家对心理健康问题的关注和讨论。 根据文章第三段中“The exhibition — titled “Pull Up a Chair 2. 0” — was a kind of “sequel” to a similar showcase that Davis curated in 2022, which also featured hanidmade chairs.(名为“Pull Up a Chair 2. 0”的展览是 Davis在 2022年策划的一个类似展 示的某种 “sequel”,那个展示也以手工椅子为特色)可知,那个展示也以手工椅子为特色, 这表明它是前一个展览的延续内容。所以“sequel”指的是“后续”或“续集”。故选 B。 【26题】推理判断题。 根据第四段 Davis所说“We had what we call an ‘artist roundtable,’ where each of the artists came to talk about what their inspiration was, what they were feeling when they were creating the chair, and it ended up feeling very much like a group therapy (治疗) session.(我们有一个叫做“艺术家圆桌会议”的会议,每个艺术家都来讨论他们的灵感是什 么,他们在创作椅子时的感受是什么,最后感觉就像一个团体治疗会议)”可知,从 Davis 的话中可以看出,艺术家们在 “artist roundtable” 上分享了创作椅子的灵感和感受,整个 过程感觉非常像一个团体治疗会。这表明这个活动是富有成效的,促进了艺术家之间的交 流和情感表达,有助于他们共同探讨心理健康问题。Davis认为 “artist roundtable” 是富 有成效的,故选A。 【27题】细节理解题。根据第五段“This year, Davis wanted to reproduce that experience on a grander scale, by opening it up to the public and inviting guests to pull up a chair and talk about the art—and how it relates to their own mental health journeys. 根据第一段的“Running Tide, a Maine-based company, is working on a system that will eventually sink the buoys (浮标), attached with long locks of seaweed, to the deep ocean floor (总部位于缅因州的奔潮公司正在研究一种系统,该系统最终将这些附着着 长串海藻的浮标沉入海底)”可知,该系统会将海草沉入海底。故选 C。 【29 题】细节理解题。根据第二段的“About 15 years ago, Odlin heard a talk from Klaus Lackner - the physicist who popularized the idea of removing carbon from the atmosphere. It clicked. ‘It was like, oh, this is right because there’s no way we’re going to get off fossil fuels in the next 50 years,’ he recalls thinking. ‘We’re going to have to pull it down.’ (大约 15 年前, Odlin听了物理学家 Klaus Lackner的演讲,Lackner普及了从大气中去除碳的想法。Odlin 听后觉得很有道理,认为在接下来的 50年里,我们无法摆脱化石燃料,因此我们必须从大 气中去除碳。)”可知,Lackner的演讲促使 Odlin想要从大气中去除碳。故选 D。 【30题】主旨大意题。根据第三段内容“Using seaweed to draw down carbon would be an elegant solution - if it works. Seaweed forests collectively cover an estimated two million square kilometers and absorb as much carbon as the Amazon rainforest. But much of that storage is short- lived. When the seaweed is harvested, eaten by animals, or washes ashore, its stored carbon is released back into the atmosphere. Running Tide’s model, in theory at least, would take that stored carbon and sink it to the ocean floor where it would remain for centuries, breaking down slowly. 根据最后一段的“Some scientists are careful about rushing ahead before fundamental scientific, environmental, and regulatory questions are answered. ‘Climate change is intensifying, and people are panicking,’ says Kristen Davis, a professor of University of California Irvine, ‘but the science is not there yet to actually confirm that it’s a good idea.’ 32. D 33. D 34. A 35. It can even do part-of-speech analysis and retrieve specific information, such as names, events, and places from a text. With this LLM, ancient Chinese texts can be accessed by more Chinese people, including students.(现在,法学硕 士荀子可以标记、翻译、加标点,并理解中国古代文本的片断。它甚至可以进行词性分析, 并从文本中检索特定信息,如名称、事件和位置。通过这个 LLM,中国的古代文本可以被 更多的中国人,包括学生接触到)”可知,它是一种现代技术,能够数字化并促进更广泛的 受众理解古代中文文本。故选 D项。 【34题】推理判断题。根据最后一段“But Wang and his team don’t simply focus on target users in China. They are aiming at the rest of the world as well. They have shared the LLM on GitHub and other websites, allowing users to download and use it for free. “Our team is committed to the philosophy of making our data and model globally accessible. We hope this will encourage more people to appreciate traditional Chinese culture,” Wang explained. (但Wang和他 的团队并不仅仅关注中国的目标用户。他们也瞄准了世界其他地区。他们在 GitHub和其他 网站上分享了 LLM,允许用户免费下载和使用。“我们的团队致力于让我们的数据和模型 在全球范围内都可以访问。我们希望这将鼓励更多的人欣赏中国传统文化。”)”可知, WangDongbo对于让大型语言模型 Xunzi在全球范围内可访问持有积极的态度。故选A项。 根据最后一段“Our team is committed to the philosophy of making our data and model globally accessible. Inside the package were tools to make a paper flower, such as crayons, scissors and some paper. Determined to make a special flower, she did exactly what her mother had instructed her. After drawing the lines and cutting out the petals, she used different crayons to color all the six petals delicately. Gluing the petals together, an idea struck her all of a sudden. Why not write down some promises she can keep to reduce Mama’s burden? Everything finished, Penny couldn’t wait to present her gift to Mama the next day. “Read the petals of the Promise Flower, Mama,” Penny said. Intrigued and stunned, Mama looked at the green petal, where a promise that she would get up on time every day appeared. Then on the blue petal, Penny stated that she would polish the shoes by herself. While Mama was reading the rest of them, a satisfied smile gradually spread on her face. From the shining gratification, there was no doubt that it was the best gift Mama had ever received. As for Penny, not only did she have faith that she would try her best to keep those promises, but she realized that the best present doesn’t necessarily need money. Lantau Trail This 4.5km trail is rated as a challenging route requiring an average of 2h 32min to complete. During the trial, you will be able to reach the highest mountain—Lantau Peak. It’s recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks, and sturdy (结实的) footwear, and set off early in good weather. Ngong Ping Village Trail This 1.9km route takes an average of 30min to complete, which accounts for its easy rating. Ngong Ping Village has the largest Buddhism statues of its kind in the world. Sha Tin Trail It takes about 1h 47min to finish this moderately challenging 6.6km route: This trail features Hong Kong’s most unusual temple, the largest museum, and best shopping malls. Sha Tin may be considered “off the beaten track” for many visitors but for those with more than a short 3 or 4 days stay in HK, it can prove to be a very rewarding day trip. Cheung Chau Trail As a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3h 8min to complete 11.7km. Cheung Chau has been a major fishing port for centuries and still has a large fishing fleet. The scenic ferry journey is one of the highlights of visiting this island. 21. Which trail takes the shortest time? A. Cheung Chau Trail. B. Ngong Ping Village Trail. C Sha Tin Trail. D. Lantau Trail. 22. What do Ngong Ping Village Trail and Sha Tin Trail have in common? A. They are physically demanding. B. They are for experienced walkers. C. They have a religious atmosphere. D. They include guided tours for visitors. 23. What can you experience during the Cheung Chau Trail? A. Appreciate fishery scenery. B. Buy meaningful souvenirs. C. Visit local museums. D. Enjoy peak scenery. B In Gaithersburg, Maryland this fall, art curator(馆长) Sandra Davis set 14 chairs on display in the Arts Barn’s professional art gallery. Each chair, handmade by a different artist, symbolized a mental health issue that the artist had personally confronted. Courtney Mohring’s chair, “Buttoned Up, ” was a black, high-backed chair coated in buttons and bunched fabric that communicated discomfort. And Davis herself had a piece in the exhibition — a rainbow-colored creation titled “Color Me Manic.” For many of the artists, it was an opportunity to try a medium that they had never attempted before. The exhibition — titled “Pull Up a Chair 2. 0” — was a kind of “sequel” to a similar showcase that Davis curated in 2022, which also featured hanidmade chairs. At the gallery, the artists came in to talk about their art, but the night soon transformed into a deeper conversation about the feelings of anxiety, loss, and isolation that Davis and her fellow artists had experienced at the beginning of the COVID: 19pandemic. “We had what we call an ‘artist roundtable,’ where each of the artists came to talk about what their inspiration was, what they were feeling when they were creating the chair, and it ended up feeling very much like a group therapy (治疗) session,” Davis said. This year, Davis wanted to reproduce that experience on a grander scale, by opening it up to the public and inviting guests to pull up a chair and talk about the art — and how it relates to their own mental health journeys. “We know the mental health conversation is top of mind,” Davis said. “We hear it in the news. We’re reading about it. We’re talking about it at school. But we haven’t really necessarily felt like it’s still a welcoming conversation.” But Davis believes we can slowly change those conversations for the better — and it starts with making space for them. 24. What is the purpose of the exhibition? A. To showcase the artistic talents of local artists. B. To celebrate the history and achievements of the gallery. C. To provide a platform for artists to experiment with new materials. D. To raise awareness and promote discussion about mental health issues. 25. What does the underlined word “sequel” in paragraph 3 probably mean? A Substitute. B. Follow-up. C. Edition: D. Check-up. 26. What did Davis think of the “artist roundtable”? A. Productive. B. Traditional. C. Tiring. D. Educational. 27. How does “Pull Up a Chair 2. 0” differ from the 2022 exhibition? A. More interactive activities. B. Wider range of issues. C. Larger scale engagement. D. New themes explored. C A wave of startups say seaweed is a solution to climate change - able to absorb atmospheric carbon, provide raw materials for biofuels, and feed the world - no fertilizers (化肥), fresh water, or even land required. Running Tide, a Maine-based company, is working on a system that will eventually sink the buoys (浮标), attached with long locks of seaweed, to the deep ocean floor, where the carbon they contain will remain stored for 800 years or more. Running Tide was founded by Marty Odlin, an engineer and fourth-generation commercial fisherman. The Gulf of Maine is warming faster than nearly every other oceanic region, and Odlin has seen the changes firsthand. About 15 years ago, Odlin heard a talk from Klaus Lackner - the physicist who popularised the idea of removing carbon from the atmosphere. It clicked. “It was like, oh, this is right because there’s no way we’ re going to get off fossil (化石的) fuels in the next 50 years, ” he recalls thinking. “We’ re going to have to pull it down.” Using seaweed to draw down carbon would be an elegant solution - if it works. Seaweed forests collectively cover an estimated two million square kilometers and absorb as much carbon as the Amazon rainforest. But much of that storage is short-lived. When the seaweed is harvested, eaten by animals, or washes ashore, its stored carbon is released back into the atmosphere. Running Tide’s model, in theory at least, would take that stored carbon and sink it to the ocean floor where it would remain for centuries, breaking down slowly. Some scientists are careful about rushing ahead before fundamental scientific, environmental, and regulatory questions are answered. “Climate change is intensifying, and people are panicking, ”says Kristen Davis, a professor of University of California Irvine, “but the science is not there yet to actually confirm that it’s a good idea. ” 28. What can we learn about Running Tide's system? A. It removes carbon from seaweed. B. It turns seaweed into fertilizers. C. It sinks seaweed into the ocean floor. D. It stores seaweed as food sources. 29. What did Lackner's speech lead Odlin to do? A Monitor changes in oceanic regions. B. Reduce commercial fishing industry. C. Set restrictions on the use of fossil fuels. D. Remove carbon from the atmosphere. 30. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about? A. Steps of a carbon replacement method. B. The underlying logic of sinking seaweeds. C. Examples of massive seaweed forests. D. The carbon absorbing ability of seaweeds. 31. Why does the author quote Kristen Davis? A. To prove Odlin's opinion. B. To emphasize the climate crisis. C. To advocate scientists' cooperation. D. To present the issue objectively. D Thousands of years ago, texts appeared on animal bones, bronzes, bamboo slips, and silk brocades (织锦) before they were written on paper. But now these ancient Chinese texts have a “new container” in the modern age. Recently, a research team from Nanjing Agricultural University has rolled out Xunzi, a large language model (LLM) and XunziChat in association with Gulian, a leading ancient Chinese text publisher. Wang Dongbo, the leader of the research team, said that the large language model was named after Xunzi because Xunzi was not only a prominent Confucian philosopher during the late Warring States Period (475-221BC), but also a pioneer in presenting and explaining theories of linguistics (语言学) in ancient China. When asked why he and his partners made the large language model, Wang explained that “traditional Chinese characters, vertical layout, the absence of pausing and punctuation (句读) are all obstacles that readers have to overcome when they read traditional texts”. To create Xunzi the LLM, Wang and his partners first needed to do a lot of research. Since 2013, his team has worked tirelessly to digitize Chinese classics like the Siku Quanshu, or the Complete Library in Four Sections. Finally their efforts seem to have paid off. Now Xunzi the LLM can tag (标记), translate, punctuate, and understand scraps (片段) of ancient Chinese texts. It can even do part-of-speech analysis and retrieve specific information, such as names, events, and places from a text. With this LLM, ancient Chinese texts can be accessed by more Chinese people, including students. Through Xunzi’s retrieval function, users can get more specific cultural information based on courtesy names. “The model can help us mine for more information hidden in our cultural legacy and find unnoticed models and connections,” said Wang. But Wang and his team don’t simply focus on target users in China. They are aiming at the rest of the world as well. But goals seem like our primary motivation only because we’ re more conscious of them than of how strong our habits are. Research has suggested that habits are practically automatic “context-response associations”— after you repeat an action enough times, you’ll do it mindlessly if you encounter the cue and the environment. “___37___,” David says. “It just indicates that your conscious mind doesn’t need to participate in the initiation or execution (执行) of the behavior.” Our conscious goals might motivate us to repeat a particular behavior, and so serve as the spark that gets the habit engine going. ___38___, because once they solidify, they can break away from the goals that inspired them. If our goals shift, context cues will still trigger habitual behavior. ___39__. If you don’t like something the first time you try it, you probably won’t repeat the experience. But habits can persist even if their outcome stops being pleasing. In David’s study, people with the habit of eating popcorn at the movies ate more stale (变质的) popcorn than those without the habit. It’s not so terrible to endure some stale popcorn, but consider the consequences if more complex habitual actions—work-life balance, or interpersonal relationships— hang around past their expiration date (过期). Neutral habits, such as the timing of my yoga session, can be hardest to assess. But because habits won’t always have your latest intentions in mind, it’s worth keeping an eye on them to make sure they won’t work against you. ___40___. But knowing how they work— simply becoming aware of how unaware of them we can be— can help get you to a life with as little stale popcorn as possible. A. Like it or not, people are destined to be bound up with habits. B. That doesn’t mean that people have no recollection of what they did. C. Once an action becomes a habit, you can lose sight of what prompts it. D. Yet the science of habits reveals that they are not subject to our desires. E. Habits also maintain their independence by not being as sensitive to rewards. F. But even habits that are deliberately begun are worth reevaluating every so often. G. However, people tend to explain their habitual behavior by appealing to their desires. 第三部分语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Our community has a way of assisting those who have financial difficulties without making the recipient feel shame or guilt. Usually she jumped out of bed with a happy smile for the new day,. But today she just lay there frowning. This was the day before Mother’s Day, and Penny still had no present for Mama. She had forgotten about Mother’s Day until she had heard her brother Peter and sister Elizabeth talking last night. “I made Mama an apron(围裙) in sewing class,”Elizabeth had said proudly. “What are you going to give, Mama?” Peter asked Penny. Penny had not answered. She had ducked her head, ashamed to admit that she had spent her pocket money. She had nothing at all to give Mama on the special day. Penny got out of bed and dressed slowly. The bag of candied she had bought yesterday reminded her of the terrible mistake. “ Well, here is our littlest sleepyhead,” Mama said as Penny walked into the kitchen. She gave her a good-morning hug, and the smell of baked apples floated up from her apron. In a way, that made Penny feel worse because it reminded her of all the good things Mama did for her. She remembered a hot day last summer when Mama had spent a whole afternoon making strawberry jam, because she knew Penny liked it. She thought of the moment when Mama polished her shoes and taught her to cut and arrange flowers.Sometimes she also taught Penny to make paper flowers with colorful petals(花瓣). “Penny dear, can you eat a little faster?” Mama was talking to her. With surprise Penny noticed that everyone else had finished breakfast. “I’m sorry, Mama.” “Well, finish up. I have to visit old Mrs. Logan and read for her . But first, I want to get this kitchen cleaned up.” Penny watched her mother hurriedly cleaning up the kitchen. Mama was a very busy person. It seemed to Penny that sometimes Mama could use an extra pair of hands and two more feet. Suddenly she had an idea! There was a present she could give Mama, and it might be better than anything she could buy. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式作答。 The next morning, Penny slid into the room with a package.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “Read the petals of the Promise Flower, Mama,” Penny said.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ $$
