【提示】elderly比old更加委婉。注意,当使用“the+形容词”表示某个群体的时候,动词要用复数形式。

【提示】与old相关的形容词比较级有elder和older。elder常用作形容词来修饰名词,用来指家庭成员或特定群体中年龄较大的人。它也可以作名词,指“年长者”或“长辈”。而older主要用来比较两者之间的年龄。
