The outdoor experts have put together walkers’ four favourite spring hikes across the UK for you to try. Pennine Way, Midlands This 268-mile trail is one of the UK’s most challenging walks. His heart sank each time he saw fish struggling in the polluted water, and he promised to make a difference. Determined to save his beloved river, Leo committed his life to studying environmental science and technology. After years of hard work and perseverance, he earned a scholarship to a key university, where he dived into water purification technologies. Leo’s mind was flooded with a host of ideas, each more innovative than the last. He dreamed of creating a cost-effective, eco-friendly program that could cleanse his village’s river and serve as a model for other polluted water bodies. Upon graduating, Leo returned to his village with a sense of urgency and purpose. He gathered a small team of like-minded individuals and set up a makeshift lab beside the river. Day in and day out, they conducted experiments, tested chemicals, and analyzed water samples. The villagers watched curiously, some suspicious, others hopeful. But Leo’s unwavering (坚定不移的) dedication inspired everyone around him. After months of trial and error, Leo and his team finally developed a ground-breaking technology. They created a solar-powered water purification system that used natural minerals and UV light to purge pollutants. The system was not only effective but also sustainable, requiring minimal maintenance and operational costs. With great anticipation, Leo and his team installed the purification system at the river’s source. Slowly but surely, the water began to clear, revealing fish swimming freely once again. The villagers, who had initially doubted Leo’s efforts, now praised him as a hero. Leo’s achievement did not stop there. He traveled to neighboring communities, sharing his technology and training locals on how to maintain and operate the purification system. His work caught the attention of environmental organizations, which funded further research and development, enabling Leo to refine his technology even more. Leo knows that his mission is far from complete, but he is pleased that his efforts have sparked a movement, inspiring countless others to take action against water pollution and protect the planet for future generations. 4. What do we know about Leo from the first two paragraphs? A. He was ambitious at a young age. B. He was admitted to an average university. C. His talent in managing rivers is extraordinary. D. His program was sponsored by local authority. 5. How did the villagers initially respond to Leo’s program? A. They contributed ideas to it. B. They held divided opinions on it. C. They helped Leo complete it. D. They recognized it to be promising. 6. What does the underlined word “purge” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Transport. B. Evaluate. C. Generate. D. Remove. 7. Which of the following best describes Leo’s project? A. Influential. B. Essential. C. Profitable. D. Unidentifiable. C A can of soft drink and two large eggs may have a similar number of calories, but the eggs will provide us with protein, vitamins and other nutrients, and satisfy our hunger, while a fizzy drink provides little more than calories. The important concept here is nutrient density (密度), which refers to the number of nutrients we take in for each calorie consumed. No one would suggest replacing sweet drinks with eggs, but what can we do to increase nutrient density in our diet? “Have you had your five a day?” on British supermarket shelves is a reminder to customers to ensure they are eating at least five slices of fruits and vegetables per day, promoting a healthy diet. Many countries have launched similar campaigns to encourage people to eat more healthily. Fresh, natural produce is usually very dense in nutrients. Eating a wide range of fruits and vegetables is important, so some advice focuses on including different colors of food in our diets. “Eating a rainbow” could be one way to get more nutrients. Other advice recommends that we should be more adventurous in what we eat. Cooking food that we haven’t eaten before can lead us to use ingredients that we don’t usually consume. This can give us a wider range of nutrients. It’s not just about fruit and vegetables. Even flavorings such as garlic, ginger or turmeric can have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, while also leading people to use less salt. Dairy products such as milk and cheese, are high in calcium, while in limited amounts, meat can be a good source of protein. If you’re not feeling that adventurous, then swapping food items can be beneficial. Choosing wholegrain bread or rice instead of white bread or rice can increase fibre intake. Unsalted nuts provide more nutrients than snacks such as crisps. Possibly surprisingly, popcorn is a wholegrain snack that is high in fibre. So, fresh fruit and vegetables, swapping the worst things, and just a little bit more adventure could be the secret to a more nutritious diet. 8. What does “Eating a rainbow” suggest? A. Focusing on low-calorie foods. B. Avoiding white and black foods. C. Adding variously colored foods to what we eat. D. Including rainbow-colored snacks in our diets. 9. What can happen if we are more adventurous in our food choices? A. We reduce calories in our diets. B. We eat more fruits and vegetables. C. We consume more unhealthy food. D. We gain access to diverse nutrients. 10. Which of the following is the healthiest swap? A. Swapping white rice for wholegrain rice. B. Swapping two eggs for a can of soft drink. C. Swapping popcorn for wholegrain bread. D. Swapping unsalted nuts for white bread. 11 Which of the following serves as the best title? A. Eating a balanced diet is essential B. Nutrient density is key to a healthy diet C. Eggs are a better choice than sugary drinks D. Fruits and vegetables are always the best choice D There’s an inner desire amongst most people to explore our planet. There’s this sense in modern society that somehow we will find a better existence or we’ll find happiness by going on holiday. I think we’ve almost been conditioned to become tourists, to the extent that a lot of people engage in tourism without actually considering why they’re doing so. There are plenty of people who will go to the same place every year, because they’re comfortable and familiar with it. People are experiencing less and less the places they are at. They might be there in body, but not necessarily in mind, because a lot of people are constantly thinking: “How am I going to present myself to my social media group back home through my posts on Facebook or Instagram?” But this is just one side of the problem. On the other side, our travel has taken a toll on the environment. It is reported that the carbon emissions from air travel accounted for 2.5% of global emissions in 2019, and this figure may be three times by 2050. I admit that there has been a considerable increase in people’s awareness about the environment. And some people say that this can eventually lead to a shift in our behavior as tourists. However, I can’t share their optimism. A lot of research has been done into the extent to which tourists are willing to adapt their behavior. And even those people who regularly consume or behave in an environmentally friendly fashion actually temporarily forget their environmental commitments, and behave like normal tourists. They do suffer some kind of eco-guilt, but nevertheless they continue to travel, and they continue to fly. I’m old enough to remember when tourism was just the summer holiday, and you would look forward to those two weeks a year when you would go on holiday. It was special and meaningful, but nowadays it is so easy to travel. Travel is now seen as a right, not as a privilege. However, to some extent, I hope there will be a significant rise in the cost of travel, or at least in air travel. In my opinion, only in this way can people realize the value of travel experience and really enjoy it. Also, only in this way can many problems arising with the development of tourism be properly solved. 12. What is the problem with most tourists according to the author? A. They don’t care about our planet at all. B. They post too many photos on social media. C. They can hardly find the right place to explore. D. They fail to have a meaningful traveling experience. 13 What does the underlined part “taken a toll on” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A Improved. B. Damaged. C. Saved. D. Shaped. 14. What can we infer from Paragraph 4? A. Tourists can hardly be affected by environmental awareness. B. Tourists are unaware of the effect of their behavior. C. Tourists’ environmental awareness has been increased. D. Tourists find it hard to travel without harming the environment. 15. Why does the author hope airline tickets will be more expensive? A. To limit the development of tourism. B. To create a sense of equality in society. C. To help people value their traveling experience. D. To make people less excited about travelling. Many people want to know more about ways to be kinder, more caring neighbors. ____16____ Get to know your neighbors. ____17____ Make an effort to learn their names and what they do for work. Our parents thought we were lucky to have an Olympic-size swimming pool at the school. My mom stressed that the swimming pool was one of the best in our city. But I didn’t feel happy about it at all. Instead, I felt afraid of the swimming pool. It was mainly because I was terribly shy. I was so shy that I always sat at the back of the room in class so I’d not be called upon to read. As for the present physical education class each Monday morning, I would work my way to the back of the line forming at the diving board so I would not have to practice the dives. Now, it was another Monday morning - the morning of our diving test. My blood ran cold when the teacher Ms. Robbins announced that we would be graded for our final on the most difficult dive- the jackknife. And she added, “This diving test is important. The one who fails has to spare time in the following Monday mornings to practice diving in this swimming pool and attend this test again.” My body kept shaking with fear as the line to the scary diving board shortened. As I watched, each student seemed to perform the challenging dive effortlessly. And shortly I would have to attempt something that I had never even practiced before. Then I remembered someone telling me that when you picture yourself doing a skill over and over, it’s just as effective as physically practicing that skill. So I watched carefully as each classmate jumped at the end of the board once, added a jump for height, folded their body in half to reach for their toes, and finally straightened out like an arrow for going into the water. After carefully watching for a while, I was actually in a state of surprise, because all of a sudden I realized that it was possible for me to perform these four steps of diving. Eventually all classmates except me finished jumping. The teacher announced that it was my turn. With my heart knocking wildly, I walked down the diving board towards its end. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Knowing I failed I climbed out of the pool, embarrassed. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力:BCAAC BBAAC CACAC BABCB 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 德强高中2024—2025学年度下学期开学验收考试 高一学年英语试题 答题时间:120分钟 满分:150分 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1. 4. A 5. B 6. D 7. His heart sank each time he saw fish struggling in the polluted water, and he promised to make a difference.(利奥在河边长大,看着它从一条清澈的河流变成一条肮脏的小溪。 故选A。 根据第三段“The villagers watched curiously, some suspicious, others hopeful. But Leo’s unwavering (坚定不移的) dedication inspired everyone around him.(村民们好奇地看着,有的怀疑,有的希望。 根据划线词上文“They created a solar-powered water purification system that used natural minerals and UV light to(他们发明了一种太阳能水净化系统,利用天然矿物质和紫外线来……)” The system was not only effective but also sustainable, requiring minimal maintenance and operational costs.(污染物。 根据最后一段“His work caught the attention of environmental organizations, which funded further research and development, enabling Leo to refine his technology even more.(他的工作引起了环保组织的注意,这些组织资助了进一步的研究和开发,使Leo能够进一步完善他的技术)”可知,Leo的项目很有影响力。故选A。 C A can of soft drink and two large eggs may have a similar number of calories, but the eggs will provide us with protein, vitamins and other nutrients, and satisfy our hunger, while a fizzy drink provides little more than calories. 11. Which of the following serves as the best title? A. Eating a balanced diet is essential B. Nutrient density is key to a healthy diet C. Eggs are a better choice than sugary drinks D. Fruits and vegetables are always the best choice 【答案】8. C 9. D 10. A 11. This can give us a wider range of nutrients.(烹饪我们以前没有吃过的食物会导致我们使用我们通常不吃的食材。 根据第四段中的“Choosing wholegrain bread or rice instead of white tread or rice can increase fibre intake. Unsalted nuts provide more nutrients than snacks such as crisps.(选择全麦面包或大米代替白面包或大米可以增加纤维的摄入量。 故选A。 根据全文内容,结合第一段中“The important concept here is nutrient density (密度), which refers to the number of nutrients we take in for each calorie consumed. No one would suggest replacing sweet drinks with eggs, but what can we do to increase nutrient density in our diet?(这里重要的概念是营养密度,它指的是我们每消耗一卡路里所摄入的营养物质的数量。 B。 D There’s an inner desire amongst most people to explore our planet. 13. What does the underlined part “taken a toll on” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A. Improved. B. Damaged. C. Saved. D. Shaped. D 13. B 14. A 15. 根据第一段中“I think we’ve almost been conditioned to become tourists, to the extent that a lot of people engage in tourism without actually considering why they’re doing so.(我认为我们几乎已经习惯于成为游客,以至于很多人去旅游,却没有真正考虑他们为什么要这样做)”和第二段中“There are plenty of people who will go to the same place every year, because they’re comfortable and familiar with it. People are experiencing less and less the places they are at. They might be there in body, but not necessarily in mind(有很多人每年都会去同一个地方,因为他们对那里感到舒适和熟悉。 划线短语下文“It is reported that the carbon emissions from air travel accounted for 2.5% of global emissions in 2019, and this figure may be three times by 2050.(据报道,2019年航空旅行的碳排放占全球碳排放的2.5%,到2050年这一数字可能会达到三倍)”说明了旅游对环境产生了不良影响。所以“On the other side, our travel has taken a toll on the environment.(另一方面,我们的旅行taken a toll环境)”中动词短语taken a toll on的意思是“损害”,与B项“Damaged”同义。 根据第四段中“And even those people who regularly consume or behave in an environmentally friendly fashion actually temporarily forget their environmental commitments, and behave like normal tourists. They do suffer some kind of eco guilt, but nevertheless they continue to travel, and they continue to fly.(即使是那些经常以环保方式消费或行事的人,实际上也会暂时忘记他们的环保承诺,表现得像普通游客一样。 故选A项。 根据最后一段中“However, to some extent, I hope there will be a significant rise in the cost of travel, or at least in air travel. In my opinion, only in this way can people realize the value of travel experience and really enjoy it.(然而,在某种程度上,我希望旅行成本,至少是航空旅行成本会大幅上升。 Many people want to know more about ways to be kinder, more caring neighbors. ____16____ Get to know your neighbors. ____17____ Make an effort to learn their names and what they do for work. One way to fight against this stranger danger outlook is by going out of your comfort zone and engaging with different people in your neighborhood alongside your kids.( 鼓励孩子们走出去与邻居交流是很重要的,但要在这一点上与关于安全和所谓“陌生人危险”的对话之间找到平衡并不容易。 故选A。 Li Ziqi, a remarkable Chinese content ___21___, has left a deep mark on the global stage. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Knowing I failed, I climbed out of the pool, embarrassed. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: With my heart knocking wildly, I walked down the diving board towards its end. Looking down, I found all my classmates were looking up at me. My face suddenly felt hot. Finally, I ignored them. Picturing the four steps of diving, I jumped. Then I folded my body but failed to reach for my toes. And instead of entering the water like an arrow, I fell into the water, with my body being flat. As a result, it caused a huge sound, which made all the classmates burst out laughing. Knowing I failed, I climbed out of the pool, embarrassed. After class, Ms. Robbins comforted and encouraged me. In the following many Monday mornings, I practiced again and again under her guidance. Gradually, I became more confident and less shy. Finally, I attended the diving test again and performed well. This time, my classmates cheered and clapped. I was so glad. I knew my success resulted from my beating my shyness and my hard practice. 词汇激活 行为类 未能:fail to/be unable to 导致:cause/lead to 参加:attend /take part in 情绪类 尴尬:embarrassed / abashed 高兴:glad /delighted 【点睛】[高分句型1] Looking down, I found all my classmates were looking up at me.
