[教材1] Walking through the seven crimson gates towards his workplace, Wang Jin still regards himself as an ordinary worker in the Palace Museum, although now he is often stopped by admirers wanting their photo taken with him.
He nodded and bit his lip, tears welling up in his eyes.
Thinking that she had to spend another night in the wild alone, she felt she was thrown into the depths of despair.
2] The intricately fashioned objects that have stood still for centuries instantly come back to life: water flows, boats sail, dogs bark, chickens flap their wings and a woman starts to spin.
[分析] 句中的stood still for centuries 与后面的instantly come back to life把“已经静止了几个世纪”与“瞬间复活”进行对比,然后用water flows, boats sail, dogs bark, chickens flap their wings and a woman starts to spin为我们呈现了一个生动的动态画面。
There is harmony between the bright moon and twinkling stars in the quiet sky and the slow pace of the village.
3] Even if every clock in the Palace Museum were restored, there would still be work to do, because restoration would probably need to begin again on the clocks that were repaired long ago.
Even if he knows it is easier to return to the city, he decides to stay in the mountain school, because he wants to help more children have a brighter future.
4] This is a race against time that can never be won!
The country, covered with cherry blossoms, looks as though it is covered with pink snow.

A
(2024·沈阳市五校协作体高二下期中)Hua Sheng and Lu Sheng, a retired Tibetan couple, have become trailblazers (开拓者) of grape growing and winemaking in their old ages.
Lu Sheng learned grape planting and winemaking from her grandmother's sister.Since they retired, the couple have moved to Lhasa from the village of Yakhadi.Though the fact that the region's capital, which is 3,600 meters above sea level, is considered unfit for growing grapes, Lu Sheng and Hua Sheng began an ambitious project in 2015, planting grapes in Tsalna, a town in the suburb of Lhasa.
They received support from the local government, which is committed to developing business and the economy. The couple's project provides jobs for rural residents, and, as a result, the government has considered the project part of its poverty relief program.
“Lhasa is an ideal place for planting French grape varieties that are resistant to cold, drought and disease, and adaptable to highaltitude and openair planting,” Lu Sheng said.
“Thanks to the plateau's sunshine and organic planting, our grapes grow very well here in Lhasa. The grapes are a bit sour and sweet, and they have a high anthocyanin (花青素) content,” she said. Anthocyanins, which are in grape cells and contribute rich color to wine, are watersoluble
In 2018, Hua Sheng and Lu Sheng expanded their project, planting on nearly 6.67 hectares. In order to familiarize Tibetan farmers with grape planting and winemaking, they taught the skills to local villagers.
“We have successfully taught the local farmers how to grow grapes and make wine over the three years. They now have a new source of income besides traditional farming and herding,” Hua Sheng said.
Yudron, a resident of Nam, said she was grateful to the grape planting project in her village, which has contributed to her income and quality of life.“After working in the vineyards for years, now we know how to make wine.We drink both barley and grape wine now.We love grape wine more, though, as it is healthier.”

How long have you been in your job? If you're climbing a career ladder, how long do you intend to stay on it? It's hard to know when to jump ship and to do something different, and it's even more problematic to decide whether to quit if you don't have a new job to do.
In the past, a job for life was just that—something you did throughout your working life.Being loyal to one company came with many perks and job security. But these days, there are many more opportunities to switch your career path, so it's normal to have many jobs listed on your CV.It's accepted that our goals change, so quitting one job for another shows how versatile and adaptable we are.
According to insurance firm LV, a worker in the UK will change his employer every five years on average. In the US, it's even shorter, with people staying with a single employer for just over four years.Victoria Bethlehem said that she looks favourably on a prospective employee who has changed roles every three to five years.
While it's good to pursue new work challenges, is quitting your job for no job at all career suicide? It's risky, but it can give you a chance to follow your dreams.Murugan Pandian, an expert, says, “If you are that miserable in your job, then sometimes it helps to quit, reassess your priorities in life and then come up with a more creative job—hunting strategy.”
Of course resigning from your job is scary—there is the fear of the unknown, but for some, no job is better than a thankless one.The current economic situation has certainly made people think twice about their career priorities, and some of them may be tempted to leave their job without having a new role to go to.But no job means no money, so quitting needs careful thought, although it could lead you down a whole new career path.

A.People change their goals for a career.
B.People like being loyal to a company now.
C.Now it's more common for people to change their jobs.
D.People prefer job security in modern times.
根据第二段“But these days, there are many more opportunities...on your CV.”
7.What is Murugan's attitude towards quitting a job?
A.Negative. B.Neutral.
C.Indifferent. D.Approving.
8.Which is TRUE according to the last paragraph?
A.One should be cautious to quit a job.
B.What you have is better than none.
