D 23. 根据Catering staff部分“you get to serve various types of people at various events.( 你将有机会在各种活动中服务不同类型的人。)” 根据最后一段Front desk receptionist部分“And working in a spa center may have its benefits in the form of discounts for employees.( 在水疗中心工作可能会带来员工折扣等好处。)” D. B In the mid-1950s, I was a somewhat bored early-adolescent male student who believed that doing any more than necessary was wasted effort. One day, this approach threw me into embarrassment. In Mrs. Totten’s eighth-grade math class at Central Avenue School in Anderson, Indiana, we were learning to add and subtract decimals (小数). Our teacher typically assigned daily homework, which would be recited in class the following day. On most days, our grades were based on our oral answer to homework questions. Mrs. Totten usually walked up and down the rows of desks requesting answers from student after student in the order the questions had appeared on our homework sheets. She would start either at the front or the back of the classroom and work toward the other end. Since I was seated near the middle of about 35 students, it was easy to figure out which questions I might have to answer. This particular time, I had completed my usual two or three problems according to my calculations (推断). What I failed to expect was that several students were absent, which threw off my estimate. As Mrs. Totten made her way from the beginning of the class, I desperately tried to determine (测定) which math problem I would get. I tried to work it out before she got to me, but I had brain freeze and couldn’t function. When Mrs. Totten reached my desk, she asked what answer I’d got for problem No. 14. “I…I didn’t get anything,” I answered, and my face felt warm. “Correct,” she said. It turned out that the correct answer was zero. What did I learn that day? First, always do all your homework. Second, in real life it isn’t always what you say but how you say it that matters. Third, I would never make it as a mathematician. If I could choose one school day that taught me the most, it would be that one. 24. What does the underlined part in Paragraph 1 indicate (表明)? A. It is wise to value one’s time. B. It is important to make an effort C. It is right to stick to one’s belief. D. It is enough to do the necessary. 25. Usually, Mrs. Totten asked her students to ______. A. recite their homework together B. grade their homework themselves C. answer their homework questions orally D. check the answers to their homework questions 26. The author could work out which questions to answer since the teacher always ______. A. asked questions in a regular way B. walked up and down when asking questions C. chose two or three questions for the students D. requested her students to finish their usual questions 27. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage? A. An Unforgettable Teacher B. A Future Mathematician C. An Effective Approach D. A Valuable Lesson 【答案】24. D 25. C 26. A 27. 根据划线句子所在的“In the mid-1950s, I was a somewhat bored early-adolescent male student who believed that doing any more than necessary was wasted effort.(在20世纪50年代中期,我还是一个有点无聊的青春期早期的男学生,我认为做任何不必要的事情都是浪费精力。)” Totten usually walked up and down the rows of desks requesting answers from student after student in the order the questions had appeared on our homework sheets.(托顿夫人通常在一排排课桌间走来走去,按照家庭作业上的问题出现的顺序,要求一个接一个的学生回答问题。)” 根据第四段中的“She would start either at the front or the back of the classroom and work toward the other end.(她会从教室的前面或后面开始,然后向另一端走去。)”以及第五段中的“Since I was seated near the middle of about 35 students, it was easy to figure out which questions I might have to answer.(因为我坐在大约35名学生的中间,所以很容易就知道我可能要回答哪些问题。)” 故选A项。 结合倒数第二段中的“What did I learn that day?(那天我学到了什么?)” C American scientists claim in a new study that humans need to create very Earth-like conditions to survive for long periods in space. The study centered on issues such as dealing with gravity (重力) and oxygen in space collecting water, developing agriculture and removing waste in space. Life in space would require a natural ecosystem to sustain humans and their necessary equipment. Without these kinds of systems, the task will fail. One of the biggest problems for humans in space will be issues related to gravity. Humans experience lower levels of gravity in space. A lack of gravity can change the fluid (液体) pressure in living things. This can lead to health problems for humans living in space. There is just no other place in space where there is 1G of gravity; that just doesn’t exist anywhere else in our solar system. That’s one of the first problems we must solve. IG is another term for what scientists call “normal gravity”, or the gravity that exists on the Earth’s surface. It can be measured as the rate of speed at which an object travels when falling to the ground. Oxygen is another important consideration. The scientists say space agencies would need to build high-technology main and backup oxygen systems to support long-term human life in space. But what if they fail? One suggestion from the study is to arrange living things to produce oxygen. Think of the hundreds of thousands of species of plants that make oxygen. That kind of system would be needed to support long-term missions in space and on planets. The other main requirement would be a huge amount of energy from the sun, the study suggests. The scientists noted that as astronauts travel farther from the sun, they will be able to collect less and less solar energy. But they do need a lot of energy. Otherwise, powering the ecological system will be like trying to run your car on a cellphone battery. 28. What does the underlined word “sustain” probably mean in paragraph 3? A. Support. B. Change. C. Challenge. D. Combine. 29. What do we know about the gravity on the Earth according to the text? A. It is easy to recreate. B. It is common in space. C. It is unique in the solar system. D. It is hard to feel and measure. 30. What does the study suggest doing to get oxygen in space? A. Making it with solar energy. B. Creating new living things. C. Producing it with equipment. D. Depending on plants. 31. What will happen if astronauts fail to get enough energy from the sun? A. Their cellphone batteries will be used. B. Their ecological system will face great risk. C. They’ll have to get energy from other stars. D. They’ll produce energy using oxygen. A 29. C 30. D 31. 根据第三段“Life in space would require a natural ecosystem(太空生活需要自然生态系统)”,“humans and their necessary equipment(人类和他们的必要设备)”和“Without these kinds of systems, the task will fail.(没有这些系统,任务就会失败。)” 根据第四段的“There is just no other place in space where there is 1G of gravity; that just doesn’t exist anywhere else in our solar system.(在太空中没有其他地方有1G的重力;这在太阳系的其他地方是不存在的。)” 根据倒数第二段的“One suggestion from the study is to arrange living things to produce oxygen. Think of the hundreds of thousands of species of plants that make oxygen.(该研究的一个建议是安排生物产生氧气。想想成千上万种制造氧气的植物吧。)”可知,该研究建议依靠植物在太空中获取氧气。故选D。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段的“The scientists noted that as astronauts travel farther from the sun, they will be able to collect less and less solar energy. But they do need a lot of energy. Otherwise, powering the ecological system will be like trying to run your car on a cellphone battery.(科学家们指出,随着宇航员离太阳越来越远,他们能够收集到的太阳能将越来越少。但它们确实需要大量的能量。否则,为生态系统供电就像试图用手机电池驱动汽车一样。)”可知,如果宇航员不能从太阳获得足够的能量,他们的生态系统将面临巨大的风险。故选B。 D As Internet users become more dependent on the Internet to store information, are people remember less? If you know your computer will save information, why store it in your own personal memory, your brain? Experts are wondering if the Internet is changing what we remember and how. In a recent study, Professor Betsy Sparrow conducted some experiments. She and her research team wanted to know the Internet is changing memory. In the first experiment, they gave people 40 unimportant facts to type into a computer. The first group of people understood that the computer would save the information. The second group understood that the computer would not save it. Later, the second group remembered the information better. People in the first group knew they could find the information again, so they did not try to remember it. In another experiment, the researchers gave people facts to remember, and told them where to find the information on the Internet. The information was in a specific computer folder (文件夹). Surprisingly, people later remember the folder location (位置) better than the facts. When people use the Internet, they do not remember the information. Rather, they remember how to find it. This is called “transactive memory (交互记忆)” According to Sparrow, we are not becoming people with poor memories as a result of the Internet. Instead, computer users are developing stronger transactive memories; that is, people are learning how to organize huge quantities of information so that they are able to access it at a later date. This doesn’t mean we are becoming either more or less intelligent, but there is no doubt that the way we use memory is changing. 32. The passage begins with two questions to ________. A. introduce the main topic B. show the author’s attitude C. describe how to use the Internet D. explain how to store information 33. What can we learn about the first experiment? A. Sparrow’s team typed the information into a computer. B. The two groups remembered the information equally well. C. The first group did not try to remember the information. D. The second group did not understand the information. 34. In transactive memory, people ________. A. keep the information in mind B. change the quantity of information C. organize information like a computer D. remember how to find the information 35. What is the effect of the Internet according to Sparrow's research? A. We are using memory differently. B. We are becoming more intelligent. C. We have poorer memories than before. D. We need a better way to access information. A 33. C 34. D 35. 根据第一段“Experts are wondering if the Internet is changing what we remember and how.” 故选A。 根据第二段“People in the first group knew they could find the information again, so they did not try to remember it.” 根据倒数第二段“Rather, they remember how to find it. This is called "transactive memory (交互记忆)"”可知,在交互记忆里,人们记得怎样找到信息。故选D。 【35题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“but there is no doubt that the way we use memory is changing”可知,互联网对人们的记忆产生的影响是它改变了我们使用记忆力的方式。 Do you want to be at the top of your class? Recently, he had entered a new school, so he had no friends yet. On Monday morning, he was nearly late for school. The night before, his family attended his cousin’s wedding and reached home late, which was why he couldn’t get up on time as usual. At school, Asad could not pay attention to anything and wanted the bell to ring so that he could buy something to eat. After a few hours, when the bell rang, Asad quickly opened his schoolbag to find his money, but just then he remembered that he had left for school in a hurry in the morning and forgotten to take money. He looked under his books, hoping to find some money but there was nothing. Not knowing what to do, he walked out of the classroom and sat on a bench in front of the canteen. He saw a few of his classmates there, among them was Fahad. He was one of the richest kids in his class, but he was a very arrogant(傲慢的)boy who thought everyone else was a loser. But as Asad was new, he didn’t know much about Fahad. When he went towards Fahad and asked if he could borrow some money for his lunch, Fahad laughed a lot and said, “I knew you were a loser, maybe a beggar?” Fahad laughed out so loud that other kids also heard and made fun of the situation. He didn’t answer Fahad, and slowly walked back towards an empty bench. When he reached the bench, he noticed something lying near it. It was a wallet. He picked it up and recognized it as Fahad’s, as he remembered Fahad showing it to his friends and telling that his uncle bought it for him from the UK. There was quite a lot of money inside for a kid. At first, Asad wanted to keep it a secret and punished Fahad. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Then Fahad said, “Why are you giving back?” _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 At first, Asad wanted to keep it a secret and punished Fahad. At least he could afford the lunch now. However, another voice popped up, urging him to give it back to Fahad, which made him feel torn. “I should never keep the wallet at the cost of my honesty, and Fahad would be extremely embarrassed without any money in the presence of so many classmates!”Asad convinced himself. Once he made up his mind, he accelerated his pace and caught him up. “Fahad, it’s your wallet and I found it on the bench.” Taking over the wallet, Fahad stared into Asad’s eyes with a puzzled look written on his face. Then Fahad said, “Why are you giving it back?” He even looked into his wallet, obviously doubtful about Asads act. Calmly and patiently Asad explained, “I had originally wanted to keep it secret as a punishment for your arrogance, but being honest matters more to me.” Hearing what Asad had said, Fahad felt his face burning with shame. He bent, thanking Asad for saving him from the embarrassing situation and apologizing to the classmates around for calling them losers. “And the lunch is on me. You all are my friends!”Fahad announced. 词汇激活 行为类 下定决心:make up one’s mind/be determined to 赶上:catch sb. up/ catch up with 催促:urge/ hasten 情绪类 尴尬:embarrassed / awkward 困惑:puzzled /confused 【点睛】[高分句型1] However, another voice popped up, urging him to give it back to Fahad, which made him feel torn. Being a front desk receptionist of a spa center, you may ______. A. get some extra tips B. take on a huge responsibility C. spend all day in the sun D. enjoy body care at a low price B In the mid-1950s, I was a somewhat bored early-adolescent male student who believed that doing any more than necessary was wasted effort. A Valuable Lesson C American scientists claim in a new study that humans need to create very Earth-like conditions to survive for long periods in space. The study centered on issues such as dealing with gravity (重力) and oxygen in space, collecting water, developing agriculture and removing waste in space. D We need a better way to access information. Do you want to be at the top of your class? _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Then Fahad said, “Why are you giving back?” _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$听力考试正式开始。 Hello, drama club, are you accepting applications . by email?
