Over the years I have had all kinds of neighbours, ones that were enjoyable and others that were to be avoided at all costs. One of the most important things in being a good neighbour is to respect a person’s privacy(隐私). When someone new moves into the neighbourhood, it is a good idea to watch them to see how friendly you should be. But if you go rushing over as soon as they move in, they may think you are going to be one of those neighbours that come over at all times of the day, not respecting their privacy. It is a good idea always to be friendly to everyone in the neighbourhood. This can not only put you on good terms with them, but will also be a form of protection for your family and home. If you wave as they drive by or offer a friendly hello while they are out in their yards, this shows that you respect them. If you are friendly to them, they are much more likely to watch out for any wrong doings going on around your home while you are out and let you know if anything happens. Another way of being a good neighbour is to be helpful in times of need. If you see that they are in need of a helping hand doing something or in times of a disaster, it is good to offer your help. Even though you have never really talked to the people down the street, they are willing to take the time to help out a neighbour in need. In conclusion, if you respect a person’s privacy, treat them kindly and be helpful when you see they are in need, you will be a great neighbour and anyone would be happy to have you next door! 1. When someone moves into your neighbourhood you should . A. visit them as often as possible B. show respect for them C. learn about some of their privacy D. avoid meeting them 2. If you are getting along well with your neighbours you can . A. have your own privacy B. often visit their yards C. make close friends with them D. keep your family members safe 3. What’s the main idea of the fourth paragraph? A. Neighbours should help each other. B. Everybody probably get into trouble. C. Neighbours should respect each other. D. A friend in need is a friend indeed. 4. In the opinion of the author, neighbours should always be . A. helpful, strong and kind B. honest, active and friendly C. respectful, friendly and helpful D. polite, honest and kind B On September 2nd, BUAA(北京航空航天大学)welcomed its first 2021 student. Or do you try to slip in without being noticed? 1 In life, we admire those who do their tasks confidently. We prefer people who appear to know what they are doing. But where does that confidence begin? Developing self-confidence starts very early. It’s parents’ role to get kids on the right track toward becoming confident people. 2 That can be done by focusing on children’s strengths. Parents should encourage their children to try new things and take risks. When children make mistakes, their parents should still let them know that they are loved. Children whose parents do these things will likely develop into confident adults. 3 So what’s the solution? With most things in life, practice makes perfect, and that is true of confidence skills. 4 Always hold your head high and look people in the eye. Answer questions clearly and confidently. Focus on the things that you do well, and look for opportunities to use those abilities. Prepare thoroughly for every project. You’ll approach the task more confidently knowing that you are ready. 5 It could be a good test score or a prize from a contest. Remind yourself that one success often leads to the next. However, all humans fail at times, and you will too. Even with efforts to try all the above, you will never be perfect. But you can learn to love and accept yourself and live your life with confidence. A. But self-confidence still doesn’t come easily. B. The more you practice them, the easier they will become. C. Keep in mind an item that reminds you of a recent success. D. The way you go into new situations show your level of self-confidence. E. Our goal is to prepare students to go into the world with confidence. F. To help that process, parents should always offer more praise than criticism. G. Learning from mistakes helps you face the same situation later without fear. 课前自主预习 一.1.E 2.D 3.F 4.A 5.C 6.B 二.1. smoothed out 2.in full measure 3.take on 4.is meant to 5.lead to 课堂多维训练 Pre-reading 1. a famous person’s opinion about the friendship; of a person; Of Friendship While-readiing 一.1.Part 1 B ;Part 2 A; Part 3 C 二.
