The Yard Teacher
It was a mid-August evening. Some children were in a big yard in a small village in Tongzi, Guizhou. An old man with gray hair wrote several beautiful English words on the blackboard and asked the children to read. As he listened, a look of satisfaction appeared on his face.
The old man with gray hair is Liu Xiaosheng. He is a retired (退休的) foreign language teacher at a university in Chongqing. In 2012, he came to Shuijing Village in Guizhou for summer vacation for the first time. One evening, he saw a neighbor’s child learning English.

The Yard Teacher
It was a mid-August evening. Some children were in a big yard in a small village in Tongzi, Guizhou. An old man with gray hair wrote several beautiful English words on the blackboard and asked the children to read. As he listened, a look of satisfaction appeared on his face.
