Once when I was a teenager, my father and I were standing in line to buy tickets for the circus(马戏表演). Finally, there was only one family between the ticket office and us. This family made a big impression on me.
There were eight children in the family. All were probably under the age of 12. You could tell that they didn't have a lot of money. Their clothes were not expensive, but they were clean. The children talked excitedly about the clowns(小丑). It was clearly a very important day out for them. The father and mother seemed as happy as they could be.
The ticket lady asked the father how many tickets he wanted, he proudly answered. “Please let me buy eight children's tickets and two adults’ tickets, so I can take my family to the circus.”
The ticket lady told him the price. The man's wife lowered her head. There was no longer a smile on the man's face. He quietly asked, “How much?”
The ticket lady told him the price again. The man obviously didn't have enough money. But how could he tell his kids the bad news?
Seeing what was happening, my dad took a $ 20 note from his pocket and dropped it on the ground. (We were not rich ourselves at all!) He then tapped the man on the shoulder and said," Excuse me, sir, you dropped this.”
The man understood my father was helping him. He picked up the money, looked straight into my dad's eyes, and replied in tears, “Thank you. This really means a lot to me and my family.”

What do you think of bees? Do you get angry when they' re all over you? Do you worry that their purpose is just to sting (叮) you? These little insects are really important creatures.
①
Bees provide us with honey, and they pollinate (授粉) not only many of the vegetables and fruits we eat directly but also the food for the animals. In fact, they are the most important pollinators in the world. A study in the UK, found that bees and other pollinating insects were worth around $150 billion globally (全球地) and provided around$850 million in economic value for the UK each year.
Are bees worth protectıng?
Although a small number of bee species are important for crops (庄稼) , experts say we should take care of all our bees. Researchers say protection efforts should include a wide number of species.
②
Unfortunately, the number of bees has been becoming smaller due to pesticides (农药),disease and habitat loss(栖息地丢失). It's something we should be worried about, as Gill Perkins, chief executive (首席执行官) of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, told BBC Future website,“They provide the whole ecosystem service.” So, it seems that it's time to give bees a second chance.

Have you ever wondered why you can go over a book again and again and still get lost when tested on what you read? It may be because you haven't practiced remembering.
Remembering is a useful way to help us learn. Some of us remember best by listening, some by re-reading, and others learn best by using pictures and diagrams (图表). Schools try many of these different ways to help students“download” new information.
But a recent study from Purdue University, the US, says that successful learning means being able to recall information at any moment. “Our view is that learning is not about studying or memorizing knowledge,” said Jeffrey Karpicke, the lead researcher. Learning is about retrievıng important information. So it is important to make retrieval practice an important part of the learning process.
The research studied two groups of students. Both groups learned something from a text. One group made diagrams about the text. This method is called concept mapping (概念构图) . The other group put the text away after learnıng it and tried recalling the concepts from memory.
Then, both groups were tested on the information they had learned. Both groups scored well at recalling the learned information. However, when they were asked to return one week later, the group who made diagrams scored better than the group who did not use concept mapping. So by drawing concept maps, we are able to recall information far better, which will help us to study better.
Our mind, just like our body, has to practice proper activities to become good at them.

范文:
Teens and Inventions
Nowadays, there are many useful and cool inventions around us. The invention I most often use is the smartphone. I choose it because it makes my life more convenient and efficient. With a smartphone, I can communicate with my friends and family anytime, anywhere. I can also access the Internet to search for information, listen to music, watch videos, and even study online.
To make good use of smartphones, I suggest the following. First, we should limit our screen time to avoid eye strain and maintain a healthy lifestyle. We can set specific times of the day to use our smartphones and stick to them. Second, we should use smartphones as tools to enhance our learning rather than as a distraction. We can download educational apps and use them to supplement our studies.
In conclusion, smartphones are amazing inventions that have revolutionized our lives. However, it's important to use them responsibly and moderately to ensure that they benefit us in the long run.
