Lesson 2: Why Do We Need Humour? Subject English Grade Level Senior High School Grade 1 Total 4 periods Textbook NCEP Senior High School English, Compulsory 2, Unit 4 Class Type Listening and Speaking Period 2 Textbook Analysis Textbook Analysis This lesson focuses on the importance and benefits of humour. It includes group discussions, listening activities, and speaking tasks to help students understand the physical and psychological effects of humour. The lesson aims to develop students' listening comprehension and speaking skills by engaging them in interactive activities. Student Analysis Students have some basic knowledge of humour but may lack a deeper understanding of its benefits. They are generally active and enjoy participating in group activities. However, some students might struggle with expressing their ideas clearly in English. To address this, the teacher will provide structured guidance and support throughout the lesson. (2) Provide the following questions: Q1: What was Mike's embarrassing situation? Q2: How did Mike handle the situation? (3) Play the dialogue again and ask students to complete the Talk Builder. (4) Ask students to practice elaborating with examples in pairs. (5) Provide examples of how to use humour to handle embarrassing situations. (6) Encourage students to share their own examples. 1.
