第一节(满分15分)
Dear students,
As a senior, I am honored to share with you my three years of high school life.
In these three years, the task of learning was heavy, and almost every day was filled with full learning assignments. Although the academic pressure was great, we also had many happy moments. We could sweat on the playground, play football together, or chat happily together.
This is not only a bittersweet three years, but also the most important three years in life. The three years of high school passed quickly. We must cherish the good times of these three years. If we arrange study and life reasonably, we can truly live up to our youth.

With the funds raised, Katie organized a surprise announcement for the students. On a bright morning, she gathered them all in the school yard, their faces filled with curiosity and anticipation. With a smile as wide as the horizon, Katie revealed the good news: every single one of them would receive a brand-new bike. The students erupted in cheers, their eyes sparkling with joy and disbelief. It was a moment of pure happiness, a dream come true for many who had never owned anything like it before. The bikes not only represented freedom and fun but also served as a symbol of hope and opportunity.
Inspired by the success of the bike fundraising campaign, Katie decided to establish a charity called Going Places. This charity aimed to continue bringing joy and opportunities to underprivileged children across the nation. Through various initiatives, including educational programs, sports equipment donations, and community events, Going Places sought to empower children and break the cycle of poverty. Katie's vision was to ensure that no child missed out on the simple pleasures and life-enriching experiences that she herself had enjoyed. With dedication and passion, she hoped to turn the tide, one bike, one child, one community at a time.

【答案】14.A 15.B 16.C 17.C
【原文】W: Trent, how did you get into mountain climbing?
M: Many people start climbing because they’ve watched a television documentary about climbing a mountain and a good friend enjoyed reading the biography of a famous climber. My experience was more unusual, though. When I was nine, I started at a new school where there was an amazing artwork on the wall. It showed some snow-covered mountains and I thought, I want to climb those!
W: You climbed your first big mountain when you were ten. How did you feel beforehand?
M: I was convinced I’d be really nervous before we set off, but the opposite was actually true, which I couldn’t quite believe. I went with very experienced climbers whom I trusted.
W: You decided to climb the highest peak on each of the seven continents. Why was that?
M: My grandfather became ill and there wasn’t much financial support for scientists trying to find a cure, so I asked people to sponsor me to climb the seven peaks. I became the youngest person ever to climb them, though that wasn’t my reason for doing it.

【原文】
W: Well, now let me tell you what I've been doing in recent years. In 2015, I retired from my post as a designer for a furniture company. And since then, I’ve been working as a volunteer. In 2017, I joined Green Woodpecker — an organization that promotes environmental protection. At the beginning, I mostly worked in public squares near the west railway station, helping the traffic police and giving directions to passengers. Then my work focus changed. When our city adopted the new tobacco control rules in June, 2018, I began a new task: persuading people not to smoke in public places. In addition to the railway station, I have been going to places where there are many restaurants and bars. We work in groups of three, and try to stop people from smoking. Fortunately, most smokers are supportive and put out their cigarettes when we ask them to, but that was not the case in the early days — some smokers could become quite violent. I like being a volunteer. The work is exciting and makes me feel young. It has now become a part of my life.

B
Due to the rising cost of rent and seemingly endless loan payments, a growing number of families are living in recreational vehicles and restored school buses. Some retirees are choosing to spend most of the year on cruise ships. But one teenager in Germany has decided to take advantage of his country’s rail system, and has begun living on trains full-time.
Lasse Stolley is a 17-year-old German software developer who spends his mornings grabbing breakfast inside the first-class lounge and his evenings in sleeping cars. He showers in gyms and leisure areas, and washes his clothes at train stations. He fits all of his possessions into a single backpack, including three sets of clothes, hygiene supplies, sleeping necessities, and technology.
The teenager has been living this way since he was 16, when he graduated from high school. He says that originally convincing his parents was a struggle, but eventually they let him go. At first, Stolley had trouble sleeping on the train. And he also had to be careful to make sure his belongings didn’t get stolen at night. But after the first couple of months, he was able to settle into a routine and thoroughly enjoy himself.
Lasse Stolley obtained a BahnCard 100 card, allowing him to board and depart from any Deutsche Bahn unlimitedly. It costs Stolley approximately €10, 000 per year. Since a month’s worth of rent in Germany costs €942 on average, train life is an appealing option for a young adult with dreams of travelling. However, Stolley says the best part is the freedom of not being bound to one place. He is able to take impromptu day trips. On an average day, Stolley can travel over 600 miles. Now he has travelled to more countries than many people ever will in their lifetime, and he shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
24.What does paragraph 2 mainly tell us about Stolley?
A.His activity venues. B.His work schedules.
C.His basic necessities. D.His life arrangements.
25.What can be inferred about Stolley from paragraph 3?
A.He once had his backpack stolen. B.He initially had a tough time on trains.
C.He didn’t get permission from his parents. D.He packed his belongings in several bags.
26.What’s the most attractive to Stolley about his train life?
A.Heavily discounted fares. B.The flexibility of remote work.
C.More chances to make new friends. D.The freedom to go where he wants.
27.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A.To appeal for low house prices. B.To introduce an unusual lifestyle.

“Hello. You are you and I am I. We are people, also known as humans. This makes us different from most of the things on Earth.” This fairly straightforward observation is the opening spread of Like, written by Annie Barrows. It establishes a somewhat odd yet matter-of-fact tone with a young boy addressing the reader.
Matters get more quizzical-or philosophical (哲学意义的), if you prefer — on the following spread, which carefully thinks about the ways in which people are different from one specific thing on Earth, “We are not at all like tin cans. We are not shaped like tin cans. We cannot hold tomato sauce like tin cans. If you open up our lids, nothing good happens. We are not at all like tin cans.” The target audience will no doubt be amused, as was I, and perhaps reassured.
Like next matches people with the swimming pools, “We are a little bit more like a swimming pool than a tin can. We have water and chemicals and dirt inside us. But unlike a swimming pool we don’t have people splashing around inside us.” Mushrooms, we learn, differ from tin cans and swimming pools by being alive, and by growing and reproducing-human traits, too! Mushrooms, however, don’t have mouths and brains. But wait: Hyenas have all that. They run around really fast, like we do... But hyenas don’t say words. They don’t tell stories. They don’t get embarrassed, even when they’re caught eating something off the ground.
Where to go from there? “Look at all these people, the text exclaims over the illustration full of people of seemingly every size, shape, color, age and means of mobility. They are not exactly like us. But they are more like us than they are different.”
“I am more like you than I am like most of the things on Earth, the narrator concludes. I’m glad. I’d rather be like you than a mushroom-an appealing and inarguable understanding.”
28.What does the underlined word “quizzical” mean in the second paragraph?
A.Definite. B.Consistent. C.Unusual. D.Ambiguous.
29.According to the passage, which of the following is most like humans?
A.Hyenas. B.Tin cans. C.Mushrooms. D.Swimming pools.
30.How is the writer’s idea mainly developed in the passage?
A.By describing in details. B.By making comparisons.
C.By analyzing causes and effects. D.By presenting problems and solutions.
31.Where is the text most probably taken from?
A.An animal encyclopedia. B.A story entry.
C.A philosophical textbook. D.A book review.

A technology with roots going back to the Bronze Age may offer a fast and inexpensive approach to helping achieve the United Nations climate goal of net zero emissions by 2050, according to recent Stanford-led research.
The technology involves fitting heat-absorbing bricks in an insulated (隔热的) container, where they can store heat generated by solar or wind power for later use in industrial processes. The heat can then be released when needed by passing air through channels in the piles of “firebricks”, thus allowing cement, steel, glass, and paper factories to run on renewable energy even when wind and sunshine are unavailable. These systems are a form of thermal energy (热能) storage. The bricks are made from the same materials as the bricks that lined primitive kilns (窑) thousands of years ago.
Batteries can store electricity and provide it to generate heat on demand. “The differences between firebrick storage and battery storage are that the firebricks store heat rather than electricity and that their cost is one-tenth the cost of batteries,” said lead study author Mark Z. Jacobson, a professor at Stanford University. “The materials are basically just the components of dirt. ”
The researchers adopted computer models to compare costs, land needs, health impacts, and emissions involved in two scenarios for an imagined future where 149 countries in 2050 are using renewable sources for all energy purposes. In one scenario, firebricks provide 90% of industrial process heat. In the other, there’s zero adoption of firebricks or other forms of thermal energy storage. The researchers found the scenario with firebricks could cut costs by $1.27 trillion across the 149 countries, while reducing the demand for electrical energy and energy storage capacity from batteries.
Jacobson’s focus on firebricks is relatively new, inspired by a desire to identify effective solutions that could be adopted quickly. “Here I can see a substantial benefits at low cost from multiple angles, from helping reduce air pollution deaths to making it easier to turn the world to clean energy,” he said.
32.What is paragraph 2 mainly about?
A.How firebrick storage technology works. B.How firebricks are produced sustainably.
C.What thermal energy means scientifically. D.What thermal energy storage is used to do.
33.What advantages do firebrick have over battery?
A.Firebrick can store heat and cost less. B.Firebrick can generate more electricity.
C.Firebrick can provide heat more quickly. D.Firebrick is made of more advanced materials.
34.Why are the computer models adopted?
A.To test the durability of firebricks. B.To cut the costs of firebricks.
C.To explore the effectiveness of firebricks. D.To test energy storage capacity of firebricks.
35.What might be a suitable title for the text?
A.The usage of firebricks can replace batteries.
B.Embracing renewable electricity becomes possible.
C.Innovative systems turn heat into electricity cheaply.
D.An old technology can aid the switch to clean energy.

【答案】Dear students,
As a senior, I am honored to share with you my three years of high school life.

67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Katie Blomquist, a first-grade teacher in South Carolina had a happy childhood. She got to go to summer camps and take swimming lessons, ride her bike around her Los Angeles neighborhood, and dress up in fun costumes on Halloween. She describes herself as “a real, live Valley Girl”.
She assumed everyone enjoyed some basic joys of childhood until she moved East and worked with a group of kids who didn’t really do much but stay in their neighborhood. Most of her students, came from low-income families, and camps, lessons, trips and bikes were not affordable for them. Katie found that there were a lot of charities devoted to helping poor kids get the care they need, like food and shelter, but there weren’t a lot of charities providing “just pure joy for kids because they’ re kids”. So she envisioned buying a bike for every kid in her school and bringing joy to their lives. She thought it’s a chance for them to truly own something of value. It’s a sense of therapy. It’s exercise. It’s a way of getting to school ... But the number-one thing was it’s joy ... Every single child deserved that.
A week later, Katie launched a fundraising campaign on Go Fund Me, aiming to raise funds to buy bikes for all 650 students at her school. The response was overwhelming. Over a thousand people from all over the country made donations, ranging from $5 to several hundred dollars. This outpouring of support truly touched Katie, making her realize the impact her idea had on others.
As the fundraising efforts continued, Katie’s story caught the attention of the producers of the Steve Harvey Show. They invited her to appear on the show and share her inspiring story with a larger audience. Katie spoke passionately about her desire to bring joy to the lives of these children, who didn’t have access to many childhood joys. Moved by her story, Steve Harvey decided to donate $20,000 instead of the planned $10,000, doubling his contribution.

【答案】范文

C.More chances to make new friends. D.The freedom to go where he wants.
27.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A.To appeal for low house prices. B.To introduce an unusual lifestyle.
C.To promote the spirit of adventure. D.To explain the benefits of train travel.

Games like Pump It Up are enjoyable because it takes things that make games addictive—points, levels and challenges, for example—and puts them and physical movement together. 36 You can apply these techniques to your everyday fitness routines to make exercise feel as fun as a video game.
Have an objective.
When you’re playing a game, there’s always an objective. 37 Exercise should be no different. Create a clear fitness goal. Aim to walk 10,000 steps a day, for example, or try to run a total of 6 miles every week.
Compete against others.
Research suggests that adding an element of competition to your exercise routine can actually help you work out harder. 38 Competing against others will help you walk more steps. You can also look into fitness programs that encourage friendly competition.
39
Researchers found that collaboration—getting a group to work together toward a common goal—was also an effective way to increase physical activity. So grab a close friend or family member and bring them to the gym with you—there’s a reason why the “gym buddy” exists.
Add an element of novelty.
Some people love video games because there’s a lot of unpredictability and surprise. You can recreate this sense of wonder in your own exercises. 40 Ride your bike from one friend’s house to another. Beat your personal record to the peak of a trail run.
A.Look for opponents.
B.Team up with partners.
C.It needs to be both specific and challenging.
D.You can participate in a step-tracking challenge.
E.Take photos of at least 5 different flowers on your neighborhood walk.
