Where: New Orleans, Louisiana Why: New Orleans is known for its music and food scene—not to mention the festivals. It has about 130 festivals each year so there’s really no bad time to visit. Bourbon Street is the obvious choice for food, drink and jazz and it’s definitely a mustvisit location, especially for firsttimers to the city. Where: Vail, Colorado Why: Vail is the perfect destination for travelers looking to find almost everything in one central spot. Stay at the amazing Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail to be steps away from Vail Village, a popular spot with cobblestone (鹅卵石) streets for wandering leisurely. Where: Hudson Valley, New York Why: The Hudson Valley is where New Yorkers go to escape the city’s noises when they need a healthy treatment of nature and relaxation. Just an hour and a half drive north of New York City, the Hudson Valley is made up of small, impossibly charming towns, where the air is fresher and things do move slower in the mountains. 1. What is New Orleans famous for? A. Various festivals. B. Musical instruments. C. Natural scenery. D. Food processors. 2. Which place would you prefer if you like walking leisurely around? A. Bourbon Street. B. Vail Village. C. Lionshead Village. D. New Orleans. 3. What can New Yorkers enjoy in the Hudson Valley? A. Ancient towns. B. Healthy diets. C. Bird watching. D. Inner peace. B “Are you OK, Cassie?” Jonah asked, from the doorway of the Sea Holly Cafe. Cassie had been sitting on a chair outside for the past 10 minutes, but not really taking in the beauty of the sea. “Oh, I should be getting back to work.” She rose hurriedly. “We’re not busy, take your time.” Jonah came with a cappuccino for her. “Thanks.” She accepted the coffee, “Everything’s fine.” Then Jonah nodded, revealing a comforting smile, and went back inside. He was a great boss, but Cassie didn’t feel like telling him what was wrong. Cassie had gone to study fine art hopefully but dropped out after only a year due to the unbearable homesickness. Since then, she hadn’t touched her paints for a whole year. Today was doomed to be a sad date, the anniversary of her exciting plans turning to dust. She felt a crushing sense of disappointment. In her painting, she had captured a good likeness of the cloudy sky and the reflection of the dying light upon the water, but the picture did have a sad, dreary (沉闷的) quality. About 20 minutes later, she was shocked by a voice at her shoulder, “That’s beautiful.” Cassie turned, and there was a woman wearing a blue coat. The woman eyed it again. “You have talent, but there is much sadness in it, for one so young.” Cassie’s eyes were filled with tears. “My name’s Willow,” the woman said kindly, “Why not try painting the sunrise instead, my dear? You might find it helps.” With Willow’s words echoing in her brain, Cassie rose an hour earlier the next day, caught a bus to the beach and began to paint again. When she finished, Jonah was just opening up. He picked the painting up and appreciated it at eye height. “Hey, this is good. It’s really —“For a moment he struggled for the word, then found it and turned to her, beaming, “Optimistic!” In her picture the sun was powering into the sky, casting a clear, golden pathway across the sea. 4 Which of the following best explains “He was a great boss” underlined in paragraph 5? A. Jonah offered a coffee to Cassie. B. Jonah ran a successful cafe business. C. Jonah figured out what was wrong with Cassie. D. Jonah was considerate of Cassie’s emotional upset. 5. What led to Cassie’s low spirits? A. That her paints were covered with dust. B. That her homesickness was aroused again. C. That her original plan was abandoned midway. D. That her painting was full of a sorrowful and dull quality. 6. Why did Willow advise Cassie to paint the sunrise? A. It was more beautiful. B. It might cheer Cassie up. C. It had artistic inspiration. D. It made a difference to Willow. 7. What can be a suitable title for the passage? A. The Sun Always Rises B. Every Man Has Its Price C. Strike While the Iron Is Hot D. A Good Medicine Tastes Bitter C A worrying rise in social media posts suggesting that people leave their Halloween pumpkins in the woods to feed wildlife after October 31, has made wildlife experts concerned. Thousands of pumpkins are discarded in woods across Britain. While well-meaning pumpkin carvers might think they are doing the local animals groups a kindness, leaving your leftover jack-o’-lantern in the woodland is actually doing more harm than good. “A myth seems to have built up that leaving pumpkins in woods helps wildlife, but behind it are many hidden issues.” said Paul Bunton, engagement and communication officer at The Woodland Trust, according to The Telegraph. One of the main issues is that the leftover of the Halloween pumpkins are often eaten by already struggling hedgehogs(刺猬). In early November, hedgehogs are looking to gain as much weight as possible to survive their winter hibernation. However, eating pumpkin is harmful to their little hedgehog stomachs, leading to diarrhea and dehydration. This means they may struggle to put on weight, and in some cases can even be fatal. Moreover, leftover Halloween pumpkins can contain candles and plastic decorations which can also be fatal to wildlife if mistakenly eaten. The rotting leftover can also attract less popular wildlife, such as rats, to an area. According to The Woodland Trust, the additional nutrients in the pumpkins can negatively affect the soil balance as well. “Pumpkin flesh can have a really harmful effect on woodland soils, plants, and fungi(真菌),” Bunton pointed out. So what should you do with your beautifully carved pumpkin creation after October 31? Most experts recommend composting (堆肥) it yourself at home if you can, or asking if a local farm will accept it as a donation. You could even try some scientific experiments to produce more energy from the throw-away wasted. Either way, the hedgehogs will thank vou. 8. What does the underlined word “discarded” mean in paragraph 1? A. Processed. B. Recycled. C. Deserted. D. Preserved. 9. Why do hedgehogs try to eat so many pumpkins in early November? A To enjoy the sweet food. B. To fill their stomachs. C. To prepare for the winter. D. To improve their health. 10. What is paragraph 4 mainly about? A. The additional nutrients in the leftover pumpkins. B. The damages of candles and plastic in the pumpkins. C. The attraction of the rotting leftovers to some wildlife. D. Further explanation of the effect of leftover pumpkins. 11. What are people advised to do with the leftover pumpkins after Halloween?. A. Stop leaving your pumpkins in the woods. B. Keep your beautiful pumpkin creations at home. C. Feed the hedgehogs with the leftover pumpkins. D. Bury the pumpkins leftover deep under the ground. D Every year, the brightest young scientists from around the globe come together to participate in the world’s largest pre-college science competition, the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair(ISEF). They demonstrate their knowledge of science and engineering to improve the way we work and live. One of the winners, Katie Lu, found a method for removing oil from water. This concept can also be applied to the removal of microplastics from our oceans as well. Here is what Katie told reporters: My experience at Intel ISEF was amazing! I remember on judging day, walking the exhibit hall and looking at the people gathered outside waiting to get in. My teacher turned to me and said, “That’s the future right there.” It was so amazing to spend time with all of these participants who are going to do amazing things in the future. My scientific career has taught me not to fear failure and not to be afraid to ask for help. It’s really easy to be overwhelmed(挫败)and wonder if what you’re doing is going to work out, but even if it doesn’t, it’s OK! Always look on the positive side! A failure now doesn’t mean you’re a failure forever. Failure makes success feel earned when it comes. Also, asking for help is good when you’re struggling. You learn how to do things a lot faster and more efficiently. I’m shocked that some people are still skeptical about climate change. It’s real and dangerous, and it’ s one of the most important issues of our generation. Reducing carbon emissions isn’t a “should”, it is a “must” to continue living on the planet. Additionally, people aren’t really worried about their personal impact on the earth in terms of littering, overusing plastic or wasting resources. If we don’t curb harmful human activity before it’s too late, it will be a problem that affects all humans, not just those that contribute. 12. What can we learn from what Katie’s teacher said in Paragraph3? A. No Intel ISEF, no future. B. Failure is the mother of success. C. All the talents are at the Intel ISEF. D. The participants will make the future wonderful. 13. What does Paragraph 4 mainly tell us? A. The relationship between failure and success. B. What Katie has gained from her scientific career. C. Seeking help is a shortcut to doing things well. D. The problems Katie experienced in her science. 14. The underlined word “curb” in the last paragraph probably means_________. A. control B. consider C. notice D. predict 15. What does Katie care about most? A. Ocean exploration. B. Environmental problems. C. The shortage of natural energy. D. The overpopulation on the earth. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 You know you really want to do well in your study. A river ran through them, so not only could I climb branches, but I could turn over rocks on the riverbank and find baby eels (鳗鱼). My favorite book was called Guide to Reptiles (爬行动物). My father had given it to me for my birthday, and I read every page over and over, looking at the pictures of colorful animals. Some of the snakes were the most beautiful creatures I had ever seen, and some were described as poisonous, but still an important part of the ecosystem. Little did I know that my book would end up saving a life. My family moved to Virginia, into a new house. The houses were so new that no one had lived in them before. In fact, woods had been there first, and almost all the trees had been cut down to make room for houses and driveways. Inside our new house, everything smelled like fresh paint. Outside, no lawns had been planted, but my father tossed out grass seed and baby seedlings grew. My brother Patrick and I could not walk on them. We had to play in the driveway. All the same, I liked our new house. One of the best things about living near the woods were the animals that would come into our yard. Rabbits and turtles came over every night. It seemed as if they were only trying to go home, and instead, what they had found was a big new land where their old homes used to be. Besides playing in the driveway we spent time in a sandbox, which my father built right next to the driveway. One day before dinner, I ran to the sandbox to build a castle but found there in the sandbox was a snake. It was lying very still, and it was beautiful. The snake had rings of color around it-red, then white, then yellow, then black. I had seen a picture just like it in my reptile book, and I remembered that it was one of the prettiest snakes in it. It said in the book that the poisonous snake looked very much like it. I was scared and ran inside. Para 1: “Dad! Dad! There’s a snake in the sandbox!” I yelled. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para 2: Two hours after the call, the zoo expert arrived with a secure container. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 西北师大附中 2024-2025学年度第二学期开学考试试卷 高三英语 本试卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分)略 第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分, 满分37.5分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 A I’ve consulted several travel experts and found out the top places in the USA worth visiting. A 2. B 3. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇应用文。主要讲述了美国值得一游的三个地方。 【1题详解】 细节理解题。根据小标题Where: New Orleans, Louisiana中“Why: New Orleans is known for its music and food scene—not to mention the festivals. It has about 130 festivals each year so there’s really no bad time to visit. (新奥尔良以其音乐和美食闻名,更不用说节日了。每年举办约130个节日,这使得它成为游客体验和享受各种节日的好地方。)”可知,新奥尔良以各种节日而闻名。故选A项。 【2题详解】 细节理解题。根据小标题Where: Vail, Colorado中“Stay at the amazing Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail to be steps away from Vail Village, a popular spot with cobblestone (鹅卵石) streets for wandering leisurely. (入住令人惊叹的韦尔四季度假村及公寓,距离韦尔村仅几步之遥,韦尔村是鹅卵石街道的热门去处,适合悠闲漫步。)”可知,Vail Village为一个适合漫步的热门景点。故选B项。 【3题详解】 细节理解题。根据小标题Where: Hudson Valley, New York中“Why: The Hudson Valley is where New Yorkers go to escape the city’s noises when they need a healthy treatment of nature and relaxation. Just an hour and a half drive north of New York City, the Hudson Valley is made up of small, impossibly charming towns, where the air is fresher and things do move slower in the mountains. (原因:哈德逊河谷是纽约人需要健康对待自然和放松的地方,可以避开城市的喧嚣。哈德逊河谷位于纽约市以北仅一个半小时的车程,由迷人的小城镇组成,那里的空气更清新,山上的东西确实变慢了。)”可知,哈德逊河谷是纽约人逃离城市喧嚣时寻找自然和放松的好地方。迷人的小镇和新鲜的空气也有助于放慢生活的节奏,这有助于实现内心平静。故选D项。 B “Are you OK, Cassie?” Jonah asked, from the doorway of the Sea Holly Cafe. Which of the following best explains “He was a great boss” underlined in paragraph 5? A Good Medicine Tastes Bitter 【答案】4. D 5. C 6. B 7. A 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。讲述了Cassie在离开艺术学校一周年这天心情低落,但被一个陌生人开导后,通过画日出再次对生活产生乐观心态的故事。 【4题详解】 推理判断题。第四段““We’re not busy, take your time.” Jonah came with a cappuccino for her. “Thanks.” She accepted the coffee, “Everything’s fine.” Then Jonah nodded, revealing a comforting smile, and went back inside. (“我们不忙,慢慢来。”乔纳给她端来一杯卡布奇诺。“谢谢。”她接受了咖啡,“一切都很好。”然后乔纳点了点头,露出安慰的微笑,然后回到了里面。)”,可知Jonah作为老板很体贴,注意到Cassie的情绪不安,并给予安慰。故选D项。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第六段前三句“Cassie had gone to study fine art hopefully but dropped out after only a year due to the unbearable homesickness. Since then, she hadn’t touched her paints for a whole year. Today was doomed to be a sad date, the anniversary of her exciting plans turning to dust. 根据第八段女士说的话““You have talent, but there is much sadness in it, for one so young.” Cassie’s eyes were filled with tears. “My name’s Willow,” the woman said kindly, “Why not try painting the sunrise instead, my dear? You might find it helps.” 根据最后一段“In her picture the sun was powering into the sky, casting a clear, golden pathway across the sea. (在她的照片中,太阳直射天空,在海面上投射出一条清晰、金色的路径。)”可知,这张关于日出的图,充满了希望,这给予了Cassie重新获得对生活的积极的态度,故sunrise“日出”是文章中重要的意象。又因为几个选项的意思如下:选项A“The Sun Always Rises (太阳照常升起)”;选项B“Every Man Has Its Price(天生我材必有用)”;选项C选项“Strike While the Iron Is Hot (趁热打铁)”;选项D“A Good Medicine Tastes Bitter (良药苦口)”。故选A项。 C A worrying rise in social media posts, suggesting that people leave their Halloween pumpkins in the woods to feed wildlife after October 31, has made wildlife experts concerned. A 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇议论文。文章谈论了万圣节后剩下的南瓜丢弃到树林里所产生的不良影响,建议人们不要把南瓜丢弃到树林里。 【8题详解】 词句猜测题。划线词句前文“A worrying rise in social media posts, suggesting that people leave their Halloween pumpkins in the woods to feed wildlife after October 31, has made wildlife experts concerned. (社交媒体上有越来越多的帖子建议人们在10月31日之后把万圣节南瓜丢到树林里喂野生动物,这让野生动物专家感到担忧。)”说明有很多万圣节南瓜丢弃在了树林里,从而推知划线词句“Thousands of pumpkins are discarded in woods across Britain. (成千上万的南瓜被discarded在英国各地的树林里。)”中划线词汇意思应为“丢弃”。故选C项。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“One of the main issues is that the leftover of the Halloween pumpkins are often eaten by already struggling hedgehogs(刺猬). In early November, hedgehogs are looking to gain as much weight as possible to survive their winter hibernation. (其中一个主要问题是,万圣节南瓜的剩余部分经常被已经在挣扎的刺猬吃掉。在11月初,刺猬会尽可能地增重以度过冬眠期。)”可知,刺猬在11月初吃那么多南瓜是为冬天做准备。故选C项。 【10题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第四段中“Moreover, leftover Halloween pumpkins can contain candles and plastic decorations which can also be fatal to wildlife if mistakenly eaten. The rotting leftover can also attract less popular wildlife, such as rats, to an area. According to The Woodland Trust, the additional nutrients in the pumpkins can negatively affect the soil balance as well. (此外,万圣节剩下的南瓜可能含有蜡烛和塑料装饰品,如果被误食,对野生动物也是致命的。腐烂的剩菜还会吸引不太受欢迎的野生动物,如老鼠,来到一个区域。林地信托基金会表示,南瓜中额外的营养物质也会对土壤平衡产生负面影响。)”可知,本段主要对剩余南瓜的不良影响作进一步解释。故选D项。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段中“While well-meaning pumpkin carvers might think they are doing the local animals groups a kindness, leaving your leftover jack-o’-lantern in the woodland is actually doing more harm than good. (虽然好心的南瓜雕刻者可能认为他们是在为当地的动物群体做一件好事,但把你剩下的南瓜灯丢弃到森林里实际上是弊大于利。)”和最后一段“So what should you do with your beautifully carved pumpkin creation after October 31? Most experts recommend composting (堆肥) it yourself at home if you can, or asking if a local farm will accept it as a donation. You could even try some scientific experiments to produce more energy from the throw-away wasted.(那么,在10月31日之后,你应该如何处理雕刻精美的南瓜呢?大多数专家建议,如果可以的话,可以自己在家里堆肥,或者询问当地农场是否接受捐赠。你甚至可以尝试一些科学实验,从浪费的垃圾中产生更多的能量)”推知,文章建议人们不要把万圣节后剩下的南瓜丢弃到树林里。故选A项。 D Every year, the brightest young scientists from around the globe come together to participate in the world’s largest pre-college science competition, the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair(ISEF). It’s real and dangerous and it’ s one of the most important issues of our generation. 【答案】12. D 13. B 14. A 15. B 【解析】 【导语】本文是新闻报道。每年,来自世界各地的年轻科学家聚集在一起,参加世界上最大的大学预科科学竞赛—英特尔国际科学与工程博览会。文章报道了2019年的奖项获得者Katie在接受记着采访时,表达了科学生涯给她的启迪和她对人们并不是真正关心环境问题的担忧。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中Katie的老师对她说的话“That’s the future right there.(这就是未来。)”以及Katie说的话“It was so amazing to spend time with all of these participants who are going to do amazing things in the future.(能和这些将来会做出惊人事情的参与者们在一起真是太棒了。)”可知,Katie的老师认为参加英特尔国际科学与工程博览会(ISEF)的这些年轻科学家们将让未来变得美好。故选D项。 13题详解】 主旨大意题。在第四段中Katie说“My scientific career has taught me not to fear failure and not to be afraid to ask for help.(我的科学生涯教会了我不要害怕失败,不要害怕寻求帮助。)”;下文提到Katis的感受“A failure now doesn’t mean you’re a failure forever. Failure makes success feel earned when it comes. Also, asking for help is good when you’re struggling.(现在的失败并不意味着你永远都是一个失败者。失败使成功来临时感到自己是辛苦挣来的。此外,当你遇到困难时,寻求帮助也是件好事。)”可知,该段是阐述Katie从她的科学生涯中得到的启迪。故选B项。 【14题详解】 词句猜测题。划线词前一句提到“people aren’t really worried about their personal impact on the earth in terms of littering, overusing plastic or wasting resources.(人们并不是真正担心个人不好的行为,如乱扔垃圾、过度使用塑料或浪费资源等对地球造成的影响。)”划线词后面的主句部分说明这类行为的不良影响“it will be a problem that affects all humans .(这将是一个影响全人类的问题。)”从句“If we don’t curb harmful human activity(如果我们curb有害的人类活动)”表示假设,可以猜测其意思为“如果不遏制人类的这些对环境有害的行为”,其中“curb”意思为“遏制,控制”。故选A项。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。文章第二段提到“One of the winners, Katie Lu, found a method for removing oil from water. (其中一位获奖者,Katie Lu,发现了一种从水中去除油的方法。)” Katie Lu发现了一种从水中去除油的方法,因此获奖。她的发现是关于环境问题的;以及文章最后一段中Katis所说的话“It’s real and dangerous, and it’ s one of the most important issues of our generation. Reducing carbon emissions isn’t a “should”, it is a “must” to continue living on the planet. (这是真实的,是危险的,也是我们这一代最重要的问题之一。要继续生活在这个星球上,减少碳排放不是“应该”,而是“必须”。)”可知,Katis最关注的是环境问题。故选B项。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 You know you really want to do well in your study. Your parents have put the pressure on you, or you have promised yourself you will do better. ___16___ How can you solve the problem? The following tips may give you a hand. Find a place that makes you want to study. If the books and seriousness of the library put you in the mood for focusing on study, go for it. If the comfortable chairs and coffee at your local café are what you need to get through your reading for English, go there. ___17___ Set a study schedule. When you have many subjects to study, it can seem hard to get through everything. Give yourself a schedule where you set specific times to study particular subjects. ___18___ Besides, change subjects every two hours. A little variety keeps you refreshed and focused. ___19___ If you find yourself distracted from studying by thoughts about something else, spend 5 minutes thinking about them, but then tell yourself studying is your main task now. If you are tired of study, step away from it. A short break helps refresh you so that you can stay focused when you come back to studying. Turn off the electronic devices. Texting, social media, calls and other distractions that come from your electronic devices are some of the biggest barriers to staying focused when you are studying. ___20___ Turn off the distracting electronic devices! A. Give yourself a brief study break. B. Get yourself clear about the study task. C. But you keep getting distracted! D. Luckily, the fix is easy and totally within your control. E. There’s no doubt that a library is the best place for studying well. F. This makes studying seem less difficult, helping you stay on task. G. The most important thing is that the location motivates you to study. 【答案】16. C 17. G 18. F 19. A 20. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了如何通过科学的方法提高学习效率,包括选择合适的学习地点、制定学习计划、处理分心问题以及关闭电子设备等建议。 【16题详解】 根据空格后的句子“How can you solve the problem? (你如何解决这个问题?)”可知,空格处应该提到某一问题或困难,所以C项“But you keep getting distracted! (但你总是分心!)”填符合语境,且C项与上文内是转折关系。故选C项。 【17题详解】 空格处应该是第二段的总结句,根据空格前的内容“Find a place that makes you want to study. If the books and seriousness of the library put you in the mood for focusing on study, go for it. If the comfortable chairs and coffee at your local café are what you need to get through your reading for English, go there.(找一个让你想学习的地方。如果图书馆的书和严肃让你有心情专心学习,那就去吧。如果你需要舒适的椅子和当地咖啡馆的咖啡来完成你的英语阅读,那就去那里)”可知,只要能激励自己学习的地方都可以,所以G项“The most important thing is that the location motivates you to study. (最重要的是,这个地点能激励你学习)”符合题意,能够总结前文并强调学习地点的作用。故选G项。 【18题详解】 空格前的句子“Set a study schedule. When you have many subjects to study, it can seem hard to get through everything. Give yourself a schedule where you set specific times to study particular subjects.(制定学习计划。当你有很多科目要学习时,似乎很难把所有科目都做完。给自己一个时间表,在上面设定特定的时间来学习特定的科目)”建议制定学习计划并按时间表学习科目,空格处的句子应该接着说这样做的好处。所以,F项“This makes studying seem less difficult, helping you stay on task.(这会让学习看起来不那么困难,帮助你专注于任务)”符合语境。故选F项。 【19题详解】 空格处是该部分的主题句,根据下文“If you find yourself distracted from studying by thoughts about something else, spend 5 minutes thinking about them, but then tell yourself studying is your main task now. If you are tired of study, step away from it. A short break helps refresh you so that you can stay focused when you come back to studying.(如果你发现自己被其他事情分散了学习的注意力,那就花5分钟想一下,然后告诉自己学习是你现在的主要任务。如果你学累了,那就停下来。短暂的休息可以帮助你恢复精神,这样当你重新开始学习时你就能保持专注)”可知,该部分是建议学习时要让自己有短暂的休息时间。所以A项“Give yourself a brief study break.(给自己一个短暂的学习休息时间)”可以作为该部分的主题句。故选A项。 【20题详解】 空格前的句子“Texting, social media, calls and other distractions that come from your electronic devices are some of the biggest barriers to staying focused when you are studying.(短信、社交媒体、电话和其他来自电子设备的干扰是你学习时保持专注的最大障碍)”说的是电子设备对学习的干扰,而空格后的句子“Turn off the distracting electronic devices!(关掉让人分心的电子设备!)”是问题的解决办法,所以空格处的句子应该是一个过渡句,由问题过渡到解决办法上来,所以,D项“Luckily, the fix is easy and totally within your control.(幸运的是,解决方法很简单,而且完全在你的控制之中)”合语境。故选D项。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 As usual, Lily bought expensive gifts for her children Alice and Peter before Christmas. Besides playing in the driveway, we spent time in a sandbox, which my father built right next to the driveway. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】“Dad! Dad! There’s a snake in the sandbox!” I yelled. My heart was pounding fast as I peered through the window, watching the snake lying still in the sand. My father ran out with a shovel, ready to take action, but I begged him not to hurt it. I remembered from my reptile book that snakes were an important part of the ecosystem, and I didn’t want to cause any harm to the animal. My father, sensing my concern, agreed to leave the snake alone and made a call to the local zoo for help. Two hours after the call, the zoo expert arrived with a secure container. He carefully lifted the snake with a pair of tongs and placed it in the container. As he inspected it, he praised me for not hurting it, saying that snakes are often misunderstood creatures and that they play an essential role in the ecosystem. I felt a sense of pride, knowing that my knowledge from my reptile book had helped save the life of an innocent creature.
