Embroidery ( 刺绣)
is
an
important
art
form
in
Chinese
culture. The
most
famous
embroidery
styles
are
Su
embroidery
from
Suzhou, Shu
embroidery
from
Sichuan, Xiang
embroidery
from
Hunan
and
Yue
embroidery
from
Guangdong.
Shu
embroidery
is
the
oldest. It
goes
back
to
the
Han
Dynasty(202
BC-220
AD). People
sold
it
to
other
countries
through
the
South
Silk
Road.
But
the
skill
is
in
danger
of
dying
out. To
protect
the
skill,Shu
embroidery
was
added
to
Chinas
intangible
cultural
heritage
list(中国非物质文化遗产名录)
in
2006.
Meng
Dezhi
has
been
making
Shu
embroidery
for
over
40
years. The
63-year-old
is
a
national-level
inheritor(传承
人)
of
the
art
form. She
used
to
work
at
the
Chengdu
Shu
Embroidery
Factory. But
in
2005,the
factory
went
broke(破
产)
and
Meng
lost
her
job.
Wanting
to
save
the
art,Meng
decided
to
rent
her
own
place
and
teach
Shu
embroidery
to
others. Its
not
an
easy
job. Workers
need
to
divide
each
silk
thread(线)
into
more
than
10
or
even
30
pieces. Each
piece
is
thinner
than
a
single
human
hair. In
2016,Baidu
invited
Meng
to
make
a
homepage
logo
for
Qixi
Festival. It
was
a
small
logo,but
it
required
the
use
of
45
types
of
sewing
techniques(针法)
and
35,000
stitches(针).
The
work
is
hard
and
the
pay
is
low. Not
many
people
want
to
learn
this
skill. But
Meng
is
trying
to
save
it
by
teaching
in
different
universities
and
communities.
“I
feel
that
I
have
the
responsibility(责任)
to
pass
on
Shu
embroidery
skills
to
young
people,to
let
it
run
from

she
said.

Meng
trying
to
save
Shu

A. Quiet,talented
and
shy. B. Honest,creative

C
You
might
expect
native(本地的)
English
speakers
to
be
the
best
at
speaking
the
English
language. But
some
experts
believe
that
when
it
comes
to
successfully
communicating
in
English,non-native
speakers
are
actually
easier
to
understand.
“Often
you
have
a
room
full
of
people
from
different
countries
communicating
in
English
and
all
understanding
each
other. And
when
suddenly
the
American
or
British
person
walks
into
the
room
and
nobody
can
understand
them,”
Chia
Susan
Chong,a
UK-based
communications
culture
expert,told
the
BBC.
Chong
said
this
happens
because
non-native
speakers
communicate
more
carefully. “English
speakers,on
the
other
hand,often
talk
too
fast,use
jokes,slang(俚语)
and
mention
their
country
that
others
might
not
understand,”
Chong
said.
“As
an
Australian
living
in
China,this
is
something
that
I
keep
in
mind
when
talking
to
my
Chinese
coworkers. Im
careful
to
speak
slowly
and
use
words
I
know
they
will
understand. Sometimes,we
confuse
each
other,though. Once,I
told
my
coworker,‘no
dramas’,which
is
slang
for
‘no
problem’. However,she
thought
I
was
calling
her
a
drama
queen
(大惊小怪的人)
and
got
upset. ”
But
dont
worry. Experts
say
that
its
the
native
speakers
fault
if
they
cant
understand
you,not
yours. “ English
speakers
with
no
other
language
often
lack
awareness(意识)
of
how
to
speak
English
internationally,”
English
language
teacher
Dale
Coulter
told
the
BBC.
The
best
way
to
avoid
any
trouble
might
be
to
ask
for
some
patience. If
you
find
it
difficult
to
understand
an
English
speaker,dont
be
afraid
to
ask
him
to
slow
down
and
speak
clearly.

did
the
writers

get
upset?

Chong
talked
fast. B. Because
Chong
used
slang.
C. Because
Chong

a
joke. D. Because
Chong
mentioned
Australia.
( )13. What
is
the
main
purpose
of
Paragraph
3?
A. To
show
that
native
speakers
are
more
careful.
B. To
show
that
native
speakers
are
better
at
English.
C. To
explain
why
natives
like
to
use
jokes
and
slang
more.
D. To
explain
why
non-natives
have
an
easier
time
talking
to
each
other.
( )14. How
can
we
avoid
trouble
when
we
communicate
with
native
speakers?
A. By
speaking
English
slowly. B. By
listening
to
them
carefully.
C. By
asking
them
to
tell
some
jokes. D. By
asking
them
to
slow
down
and
speak
clearly.
( )15. What
can
we
infer
from
the
passage?
A. Native
speakers
communicate
more
carefully.
B. If
you
cant
understand
native
speakers,its
your
fault.
C. Sometimes
slang
isnt
proper
for
the
international
communication.

The
Double
Ninth
Festival,also
named
the
Chong
Yang
Festival,is
celebrated
on
the
ninth
day
of
the
ninth
month
of
the
Chinese
lunar
calendar. It
is
welcomed
by
Chinese.
▲
In
ancient
time,numbers
were
mysterious
and
were
divided
into
yin
and
yang. Yin
means
something
of
darkness
and
yang
means
life
and
brightness. The
number
nine
is
regarded
as
yang. The
ninth
day
of
the
ninth
month
is
a
double
yang
day,so
it
is
called
Chong
Yang
Festival. Chong
means
repeat
in
Chinese.
There
are
many
traditions
for
this
festival. On
that
day,families
get
together
and
climb
mountains
for
luck
and
in
the
hope
that
elderly
people
will
live
much
longer. They
also
drink
chrysanthemum
wine(菊花酒)
and
wear
a
plant
called
zhuyu
to
celebrate
it. Both
the
chrysanthemum
and
zhuyu
are
regarded
as
clean
plants. They
can
clean
houses
and
cure
(治疗)
diseases.
Respecting
elderly
people
is
shown
not
only
on
this
special
day
but
also
in
daily
life. For
example,when
there
are
several
guests
at
the
table,the
host
usually
introduces
them
from
the
oldest
to
the
youngest. When
a
younger
person
is
presenting
something
to
an
older
person,two
hands
are
used. On
a
crowded
subway
or
bus,younger
people
always
offer
their
seats
to
elderly
people. It
is
a
traditional
virtue (美德)
in
China
to
respect
elderly
people. Thats
because
the
Chinese
know
that
elderly
people
have
knowledge
and
experience
that
young
can
learn
from
them. So,Chinese
people
are
proud
of
being
old. Besides,to
respect
the
elderly
is
to
respect
yourself
tomorrow.
Nowadays,the
Double
Ninth
Festival
is
a
time
for
family
get-together
to
do
some
exercise
as
well
as
enjoy
the
autumn
scenery
together
with
the
old. So
many
people
in
China
like
to
spend
it
with
families
or
friends.
( )16. What
does
the
underlined
word
“They”
in
Paragraph
3
refer
to?
A. Wearing
zhuyu. B. All
the
plants
in
the
Chong
Yang
Festival.
C. Chrysanthemum
and
zhuyu. D. Chrysanthemum
wine
and
zhuyu
wine.
( )17. Which
of
the
following
sentences
can
be
put
into
the
“ ▲ ”
in
Paragraph
2?
A. Do
you
know
the

of

B. The
festival
began
as
early
as
over
2,000

ago.
C. The
name
of

The
Ministry
of
Education(MOE)
has
brought
out
new
rules
for
labor
education(劳动教育)
in
schools
since

studying,and
many
have

第二节 完形填空(共 15 小题;每小题 1 分,满分 15 分)
阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
My
friend
Richard
went
far
to
work,so
he
asked
me
to
take
care
of
his
yard
in
the
mountains. He
worked
hard
and
often
kept
the
yard
31
without
any
grass. But
I
was
too
lazy
to
sweep
the
fallen
leaves,and
I
32
plucked(拔)
grass,allowing
it
to
grow
rapidly. In
the
early
33 ,in
March,the
leaves
were
green
and
soft. A
month
later,when
the
leaves
spread
quickly,I
discovered
they
were
like
wild
orchids(兰花)
in
the
forest.
As
the
summer
came,the
“ 34 ”
really
flowered. And
the
flowers
looked
like
those
forest
orchids, 35
they
were
yellow,unlike
those
purple
or
brown
red
forest
orchids. I
picked
one
flower,then
went
to
find
a
friend
who
studied
36 . When
my
friend
saw
it,he
asked
me
37
I
picked
it. “ Its
amazing!”
He
38
explained. “This
kind
of
orchid
is
hard
to
find. Now
it
is
39
at
least
10,000
dollars
each. ”
I
told
the
good
news
to
Richard. He
was
40 . After
a
while
he
said
gently,he
saw
the
orchid
in
the
yard
every
year,but
he
thought
it
was
41
grass,so
he
always
plucked
it. He
said,“If
I
could
42 ,it
would
flower
a
few
years
before. ”
Yes,all
of
us
might

some
rare(稀有的)
orchids
in
our
own
lives. We
dont
give
them
the

flower
to
prove
their
value.
Give
the

time
to
flower
and
give
everybody
a
