Demonstration on Hemp-fibre Texture Stroke by Prof. Tong Kam-tang Hemp-fibre Texture Stroke Long rumoured to have been first employed by the famous Tang artist Wang Wei (699–759), the hemp-fibre texture stroke was developed into “long hemp-fibre texture stroke” and “short hemp-fibre texture stroke” by Dong Yuan (? –ca.962) and Juran (second half of the 10th century) of the Five Dynasties. As one of the most common texture strokes in traditional Chinese landscape paintings, it is mainly used to depict the gentle bushy mountains in southern China. Named after the shape of hemp fibres intertwined with each other, the stroke stresses the importance of the space density, tonal gradations, varying tempo of lines, and contrasts in lifts and presses to reach the “state of artistic integration and annihilation with accumulative ink”. It is held in high regard as the basis for all types of linear texture strokes. The Qing painter Tang Dai (1673–after 1752) even believes that the roiling-cloud texture stroke, unravelled-rope texture stroke and lotus-leaf texture stroke are “variations of the hemp-fibre texture stroke”. Therefore, our predecessors always began with the hemp-fibre texture stroke when they learned to paint mountains and rocks. #artmuseumcuhk #culture #TextureStroke #HempFibreTextureStroke #demonstration 相關展覽 #山川巨構 詳情:https://bit.ly/3A4VuY5 開放時間及參觀資訊: https://bit.ly/37QyFga 如何前往文物館:https://bit.ly/3M5KZYR About the Exhibition “Majestic Vistas”: https://bit.ly/3K4zSjd Opening Hours & Visitor Information: https://bit.ly/3vn9VnR How to Get to the Art Museum: https://bit.ly/3xBRr5M #中大文物館 #展覽 #山川巨構 #藝術 #文化 #山水畫 #山水 #ArtMuseumCUHK #Exhibition #MajesticVistas #art #culture #LandscapePainting #ChinesePainting #landscapes 關注我們 Follow us ► Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/ArtMuseumCUHK Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/artmuseumcuhk/ 披麻皴,相傳為唐代王維(699-759)始創,發展於五代董源(?-約962)、巨然(十世紀後半葉),分「長披麻」與「短披麻」兩種,是傳統山水畫最普遍應用皴法之一,多用以表現南方平緩華滋之土質山巒。 Hemp-fibre Texture Stroke Long rumoured to have been first employed by the famous Tang artist Wang Wei (699–759), the hemp-fibre texture stroke was developed into “long hemp-fibre texture stroke” and “short hemp-fibre texture stroke” by Dong Yuan (? –ca.962) and Juran (second half of the 10th century) of the Five Dynasties. It is frequently seen in the works by Ma Yuan (active 1190â1224) and Xia Gui (active 1180âca.1230), who perfected the texturing technique. However, it became much less common when Dong Qichang (1555â1636) of the late Ming dynasty criticised it for its artistic triteness, as it was often used by those whom he classified as Northern school painters. #artmuseumcuhk #culture #TextureStroke #AxeCutTextureStroke ç¸éå±覽 #å±±å·å·¨æ§ 詳æï¼https://bit.ly/3A4VuY5 éæ¾æéååè§è³è¨ï¼ https://bit.ly/37QyFga å¦ä½åå¾æç©é¤¨ï¼https://bit.ly/3M5KZYR About the Exhibition âMajestic Vistasâ: https://bit.ly/3K4zSjd Opening Hours & Visitor Information: https://bit.ly/3vn9VnR How to Get to the Art Museum: https://bit.ly/3xBRr5M #中大æç©é¤¨ #å±覽 #å±±å·å·¨æ§ #èè¡ #æå #山水ç« #山水 #ArtMuseumCUHK #Exhibition #MajesticVistas #art #culture #LandscapePainting #ChinesePainting #landscapes é注æå Follow us âº Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/ArtMuseumCUHK Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/artmuseumcuhk/ æ§åç´ï¼ååã大æ§åç´ãèãå°æ§åç´ãå©ç¨®ï¼並åæ¯æãå®éµç´ãã繪ç«æï¼çé沾墨èæ°´ï¼以å´éæå±±ç³åèçµæ§è¿éç´å·ï¼æåºé£ç½ï¼ãå¦éµæ§åæ¨ï¼ååºæ§çãï¼æåãæ¤ç´è¿½æ±ç½å©æºå³ä¹æï¼å¸é¡¯å±±ç³é¡å³ä¹å¢ï¼å©æ¼è¡¨ç¾é¢å¡å´æ´ä¹ç³è³ªå³°å·ï¼å°¤å¶åæ¹å±±ç³ä¹æ¹ç¡¬è¼ªå»åå¤é²ç骨ãæ§åç´å³çºå®代æåï¼ç´1049-1130 å¾ï¼æåµï¼å¾æ馬é ï¼æ´»åæ¼1190ï¼1224ï¼ãå¤åï¼æ´»åæ¼1180ï¼1230åå¾ï¼ç¹¼ä¹ï¼è³ææè£å¶æï¼1555-1636ï¼è¦ä¹çºåå®å æ°£ä¸èï¼æ´å å¼å¾®ã #中大æç©é¤¨ #æå #èè¡ #ç´ #ç´æ³ #æ§åç´ Axe-cut Texture Stroke The axe-cut texture stroke is further classified into two types, namely the âlarge axe-cut texture strokeâ and âsmall axe-cut texture strokeâ, the latter of which may evolve into the âscratched-iron texture strokeâ. Mi Fu lived in Zhenjiang, where the rapid changes in foggy mountains and the dreamy scenes of misty rain became the main inspiration for his art. Oval, plump and tonally diverse, the Mi-dot texture stroke is used to depict the forests in the mountains shrouded in fog and rain rather than the texture of rocks and mountains, emphasising the haziness and grace of cloudy mountains in the rain. #artmuseumcuhk #culture #TextureStroke #MiDotTextureStroke #demonstration 相關展覽 #山川巨構 詳情:https://bit.ly/3A4VuY5 開放時間及參觀資訊: https://bit.ly/37QyFga 如何前往文物館:https://bit.ly/3M5KZYR About the Exhibition “Majestic Vistas”: https://bit.ly/3K4zSjd Opening Hours & Visitor Information: https://bit.ly/3vn9VnR How to Get to the Art Museum: https://bit.ly/3xBRr5M #中大文物館 #展覽 #山川巨構 #藝術 #文化 #山水畫 #山水 #ArtMuseumCUHK #Exhibition #MajesticVistas #art #culture #LandscapePainting #ChinesePainting #landscapes 關注我們 Follow us ► Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/ArtMuseumCUHK Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/artmuseumcuhk/ 米點皴,又稱「落茄皴」,分為「大米點皴」與「小米點皴」,為宋代米芾(1052-1107)、米友仁(1074-1151)父子首創。 Mi-dot Texture Stroke Also known as the peeling-crust texture stroke, the Mi-dot texture stroke is divided into “large Mi-dot texture stroke” and “small Mi-dot texture stroke”, and as the names suggest, the dots were invented by the Song painter Mi Fu (1052–1107) and his son Mi Youren (1074–1151).
