Have you ever experienced being a parent and taking care of a baby for a day? Last month, every student in my school’s health class took part in the Real Care Baby Project. We had to take home a “baby” to care for one day. The “baby” looked like a doll, but she had a similar weight to a real baby and cried at any time.
I didn’t expect this project to be so hard at the beginning. On my way home, the baby cried all of a sudden. I was quite worried and tried to calm her down. Her crying made everyone look at me. This made me feel very embarrassed. Finally, I finally stopped my “baby” crying by moving her up and down for a long time, even though my arms and back hurt a lot.
As soon as I got home, I decided I was going to work on my book report. I placed my baby on my bed and started my work. I thought the “baby” would give me some time to myself—but I was wrong. Just about 10 minutes later, she started crying loudly again. I had to spend a lot of time touching and feeding her to calm her down, even at 3:30 a.m.
Through this, I now have a deeper understanding about parents. They have to look after, love and care for their child almost all the time. I only had the “baby” for one day, but parents do this for years. Even if we try to help them later on, we can never give back to them as much as they give us. We should thank them for what they have done for us.
21. According to Paragraph 1, the baby ________.
A. would be with the writer for a day B. mustn’t be taken home
C. was much heavier than a real one D. remained quiet all the time
22. The underlined word “embarrassed” in Paragraph 2 means “________”.
A. relaxed B. shocked C. shy D. lucky
23. Why did the writer think it was difficult to care for the baby?
A. The baby didn’t enjoy staying in bed. B. The baby didn’t expect her to work.
C. The baby always asked for food. D. The baby started crying very often.
24. What might the writer do from now on?
A. She will join in more projects like this. B. She will give more back to her parents.
C. She will help to look after babies. D. She will try to understand children better.
25. What can be the best title for the passage?
A. The Great Love from Parents B. The Difficulty in Caring for a Baby
C. An Amazing Project for Students D. A Special Day with the “Baby”
【答案】21. A 22. C 23. D 24. B 25. D

Usually, we think of workers picking tea leaves by hand. But now, some Longjing tea is being picked by metal workers—tea-picking robots!
In a Hangzhou tea garden, a smart tea-picking robot developed by Zhejiang Sci-Tech University set to work for the first time. “We took thousands of pictures of new tea buds (芽) and fed them to the robot for it to learn. The robot uses an AI model to remember the buds it needs to pick,” said Professor Chen Jianneng. This lets the robot find the right tea buds about 90 percent of the time.
The robot’s arm pulls and then sucks (吸) up the tea buds. These buds are quickly moved into a special box. After the robot gathers all the buds from the area it’s working at, it moves the buds from the box to a main box that holds everything it collects.
The robot was made because there are not enough people to pick tea. In Zhejiang, about 400,000 more pickers are needed now. “Picking is the biggest challenge for the development of the tea industry,” said Professor Wu Chuanyu, who leads the research team.
“Although tea-picking robots are not perfect, for example, they can’t tell the difference because some tea buds look very similar, they are a trend (趋势) of the future. About five years from now, the robots will do the job of picking West Lake Longjing tea instead of people,” Wu added.
26. Where did the smart tea-picking robot first start working?
A. In a Zhejiang factory. B. In a Hangzhou tea garden.
C. In a university in Zhejiang. D. In a West Lake tea-processing center.
27. How does the tea-picking robot know which tea buds to pick?
A. By tasting the tea buds.
B. By using its sense of smell.
C. By following the instructions of workers.
D. By an AI model after learning from thousands of pictures.
28. What is the correct order of the steps for the tea-picking robot to pick tea?
a. The buds are moved into a special box.
b. The arm pulls and sucks up the tea buds.
c. The buds are moved from the box to a main box.
d. All the buds are gathered from the working area.
A. b-a-d-c B. b-d-c-a C. c-b-d-a D. d-c-b-a
29. Why was the tea-picking robot made?
A. Because it can pick tea much faster than humans.
B. Because it can pick more tea buds accurately.
C. Because there is a shortage (短缺) of tea-pickers.
D. Because it is a symbol of high-tech development.
30. What can we infer from Professor Wu Chuanyu’s words?
A. Tea-picking robots are already perfect.
B. Tea-picking robots will replace human pickers in about five years.
C. Tea-picking robots can clearly tell the difference between all tea buds.
D. The development of the tea industry has no difficulty now.
【答案】26. B 27. D 28. A 29. C 30. B

Recently, my school took a trip to Disney World in Shanghai. I was so excited! My parents had taken me there before, but this was my first time going with my school and my friends, so I was looking forward to it.
The ride I liked the most was Pirates of the Caribbean (加勒比海盗). It wasn’t too fast or scary, but it was really fun. The boat went through a pirate world with cool music, lights and talking pirates! It felt like we were part of the story. It was so funny when one of us shouted loudly when a pirate suddenly jumped out of the water after the ride.
Another funny moment was when we went to meet the Disney princesses. My friend Katie was so nervous meeting Cinderella. She kept practicing what to say, but when it was her turn, she just froze with a smile on her red face. We all laughed so much! It was a little embarrassing for her, but we all had fun.
What I really liked about this trip was how much fun we had as a group. Sometimes, it’s easy to get caught up in schoolwork and life, but this trip reminded me how important it is to take a break, enjoy the moment and make memories with friends.

A. would be with the writer for a day B. mustn’t be taken home
C. was much heavier than a real one D. remained quiet all the time

A By tasting the tea buds.
D The development of the tea industry has no difficulty now.

Disney World felt like a place where you could forget about everything else and just feel relaxed and thankful for these special moments with friends. I found life is about enjoying the journey, not just the destination (目的地).
