一、教学目标
知识目标
学生能够掌握字母组合 ar 和 al 在单词中的发音规则,即 ar 发 /ɑː/,al 发 /ɔː/。

五、教学过程
(一)Warming-up(5 分钟)
Greetings
T: Hello, boys and girls! Nice to see you again.
Ss: Hello, teacher! Nice to see you, too.
Sing a song
Play the song “The Wheels on the Bus” on the PPT. Let the students sing along with the music. After singing, ask some students to answer the questions: What can you see in the song? What are they doing?
(二)Lead-in(3 分钟)
Show some pictures on the PPT, such as a car, a ball, a park, a wall. Ask the students to look at the pictures and say what they see.
T: Look at the pictures carefully. What can you see?
Ss: I can see a car/a ball/a park/a wall.
Write the words “car” and “ball” on the blackboard, and circle the letters “ar” and “al”. Tell the students that we are going to learn the pronunciation of these two letter combinations today.
(三)Presentation(12 分钟)
Teach the pronunciation of “ar”
Show the word “car” on the PPT, and read the word slowly: /kɑː/. Let the students watch the teacher's mouth shape and listen carefully. Then ask the students to repeat several times.
Use the same way to teach other words with “ar” such as “far”, “arm”, “card”. Write these words on the blackboard one by one.
Let the students find the common point of these words. Guide them to conclude that the letter combination “ar” usually pronounces /ɑː/.
Do a little chant:
Ar, ar, /ɑː/, /ɑː/, /ɑː/,
Car, car, drive a car.
Far, far, so far.
Arm, arm, wave your arm.
Card, card, show me your card.
Let the students read the chant together, and then read it in groups.
Teach the pronunciation of “al”
Show the word “ball” on the PPT, and read the word slowly: /bɔːl/. Let the students watch the teacher's mouth shape and listen carefully. Then ask the students to repeat several times.
Use the same way to teach other words with “al” such as “tall”, “wall”, “small”. Write these words on the blackboard one by one.
Let the students find the common point of these words. Guide them to conclude that the letter combination “al” usually pronounces /ɔː/.

(四)Practice(10 分钟)
Listen and circle
Open the PPT, play the recording of “Let's spell” part in the textbook. Let the students listen carefully and circle the words they hear.
After listening, check the answers with the students.
Read and write
Show some words on the PPT, some of which have “ar” and some have “al”. Divide the students into groups. Each group gets a piece of paper and a pen. The teacher reads the words one by one, and the students in each group write down the words, and then classify them according to the letter combinations “ar” and “al”.
Check the answers group by group, and give praise to the groups with correct answers.
(五)Production(5 分钟)
Group work
Divide the students into groups of four. Each group gets some word cards with different words (including words with “ar” and “al” and some new words). The students in each group take turns to pick a card, read the word on the card according to the pronunciation rules they have learned. If they read it correctly, the group gets one point. If they read it wrong, the other groups can correct it.
Make sentences
Ask each group to choose two words from the cards and make sentences with them. For example, “I can see a car far away.” “The ball is on the wall.” Each group presents their sentences to the class.
(六)Summary(3 分钟)
Review the pronunciation rules of “ar” and “al” with the students. Ask the students to say some words with “ar” and “al” again.
Summarize the key points of this class, and praise the students' good performance in class.
(七)Homework(2 分钟)
Listen to the recording of “Let's spell” part and read the words three times.
Make a word list of at least five words with “ar” or “al” and write a sentence for each word.
