A recent study from the Food and Mood Centre at Deakin University in Australia has cast light on an alternative approach to managing mild to moderate depression. The research suggests that lifestyle therapy, which includes nutritional consulting and regular physical activity, can be as effective as traditional psychotherapy (心理疗法) in reducing depressive symptoms.
In this study, 182 individuals diagnosed with non-severe depression were randomly assigned to either lifestyle therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The lifestyle therapy group received guidance from a dietitian and an exercise physiologist. These professionals provided evidence-based advice on improving nutrition, particularly through a modified Mediterranean (地中海) diet, and including regular physical exercise into daily routine. Meanwhile, the CBT group was led by psychologists who taught strategies to manage negative thoughts and behaviors, and were provided with workbooks and self-help tools.
Both therapies were structured to match in frequency, duration, environment, and group size, ensuring a fair comparison. The results were promising: the lifestyle therapy group reported a 42% reduction in depression symptoms, whereas those who had traditional psychotherapy experienced a 37% reduction.
Although the study’s sample size was small, indicating the need for further research, it underlines the importance of lifestyle changes in medicine. The researchers point out that while lifestyle changes are the cornerstone of other areas of medicine, such as heart diseases and diabetes, they have traditionally been seen as ‘add-on’ to mental health care. The study’ s findings suggest that this mindset may need to shift.
Importantly, the research does not say that lifestyle changes should replace professional mental health care. Instead, it recommends a comprehensive approach where both lifestyle therapy and traditional psychotherapy are available options. This would allow individuals to access the care that best suits their needs, potentially offering more effective treatment for those fighting with mild to moderate depression.
4. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. The significance of the research. B. The consequence of the research.
C. The performance of different subjects. D. The process of conducting the research.
5. What does the underlined word “cornerstone” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. A side factor. B. An optional part.
C. A fundamental element. D. A controversial method.
6. What is the suggestion of the research?
A. Improve traditional psychotherapy. B. Include lifestyle changes as an option.
C. Stick to the Mediterranean diet strictly. D. Replace psychotherapy with lifestyle changes.
7. In which column of a magazine might this text be found?
A. Fitness routines. B. Health & wellness.
C. Food adventures. D. Entertainment express.
【答案】4. D 5. C 6. B 7. B

When visiting a doctor a few years from now, you can expect to be accompanied by a virtual version of yourself. This so-called digital twin will be a working model of your body. Updated with your latest vital signs, it will help the doctor make an accurate diagnosis. It also opens the door for medicines and procedures designed specifically for you, greatly increasing recovery rates.
This might seem like fantasy, but the foundations are being laid. Researchers at Queen Mary University of London already use computer simulations (模拟) of the hearts of individual patients to evaluate different treatments for heart disorder. It would be far too risky to experiment this way on someone’s real heart.
Digital twins are starting to pop up everywhere. The use of AI takes this much further, allowing virtual models to become more refined, and to both simulate and better activities in the real world. Concerns about the future may arise, as is seen in Morpheus from a 1999 sci-fi film, where an intelligent machine dominates humanity through virtual reality.
Today’s digital twins extend this process, making it easier for humans to tackle complex problems. They can act as virtual crystal balls, allowing people to look into the future, spot problems before they materialize and test wild ideas without real-world consequences. For businesses, this should mean better designs and fewer costly mistakes. Digital twins offer the ultimate sandbox in which castles can be built and tested before being made real.
Could these virtual copies go wrong? They might if they are programmed badly, or hacked into. Digital twins will handle mountains of data, some of it wrong, some of it prejudiced and much of it raising privacy concerns. Yet these risks are not specific to digital twins. They apply to all technologies, as they always have and always will. The emergence of the digital mirror world will doubtless raise new questions, but its potential advantages are already plain to see.
8. What can be learned from the first three paragraphs?
A. AI lays the basis for digital twins. B. Morpheus is a version of digital twins.
C. Digital twins can make accurate diagnosis. D. Tailored treatments are available with digital twins.
9. What does the author imply in Paragraph 4?
A. Digital twins are money-saving. B. Digital twins can predict all the risks.
C. Digital twins work on the basis of a sandbox. D. Digital twins provide a chance for trial and error.
10. What’s the author’s attitude towards digital twins?
A. Favorable. B. Cautious. C. Objective. D. Unclear.
11. Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Explore the virtual reality frontier B. Unlock a world of digital economy
C. Welcome to the digital mirror world D. Embrace the personalized healthcare
【答案】8. D 9. D 10. A 11. C

SpaceX Starship test launch in October 2024 marked another milestone for the world’s largest and most powerful rocket. But additional data collected indicates Starship may be even more damaging to local communities and wildlife than critics previously feared.
According to datasets published, the 30-story-tall Starship’s 33 engines generate anywhere between 105 and 125 decibels (分贝) during its liftoff and landing, which is powerful enough to cause structural damage to buildings. Gee, a professor in Brigham Young University, detected those sound levels roughly six miles away. “This is the largest rocket ever built. It would stand to reason that it would also produce the highest level of noise among all rockets ever constructed.” Gee said.
Gee stresses that although researchers often measure noise using decibel levels, there are other measurements for sound. So he believes it’s best to assess Starship’s loudness by comparing it to other understandable quantities. On the quieter end, Starship’s liftoff may sound similar to an average rock concert. At its loudest that noise is equal to hearing a close range gunshot.
According to environmental engineer Roesch, the “raw power output” from Starship’s Super Heavy rockets has increased 30 percent since the FAA’s initial risk review in 2019, an amount expected to grow over future launches. Roesch calls past assumptions by the FAA “not only factually laughable based on an understanding of basic physics” but contradictory to NASA’s decades of Acoustic Modeling document. “No bird egg will survive that kind of impact. More deaths for animals are not accounted for in the FAA’s risk assessment.”
Gee declines to offer a personal opinion regarding SpaceX’s ongoing Starship launch schedule, and believes humanity’s future may require space travel. In the meantime, he hopes the new data will inform policy and regulatory decisions. “We are talking about levels that people found unacceptable before,” he says.
12. How did Gee conclude SpaceX’s rocket would be the loudest ever built?
A. He measured the decibel levels directly. B. He calculated the rocket’s engine power.
C. He inferred from the rocket’s dimensions. D. He checked all the datasets published.
13. Why does Gee mention gunshot?
A. To indicate possible damage. B. To make readers amused.
C. To measure sounds accurately. D. To describe noise levels vividly.
14. What did Roesch think of FAA’s assumptions?
A. Factual but contradictory. B. Illogical and inaccurate.
C. Optimistic but simple. D. Irrelevant and outdated.
15. What is the text mainly about?
A. Animal injuries during SpaceX’s launches.
B. Fair prospects for SpaceX’ s Starship project.
C. Technical drawbacks of SpaceX’s rocket engines.
D. Environmental impact of SpaceX’s Starship launch.
【答案】12. C 13. D 14. B 15. D

【13题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段最后一句“At its loudest that noise is equal to hearing a close range gunshot.(在最响的时候,那种噪音等同于听到近距离的枪声。)”可知,Gee提到枪声是为了生动形象地描述噪音水平。故选D项。
14题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段第二句“Roesch calls past assumptions by the FAA ‘not only factually laughable based on an understanding of basic physics’ but contradictory to NASA’s decades of Acoustic Modeling document.(Roesch 称联邦航空局过去的假设‘基于对基础物理的理解,不仅在事实上可笑’,而且与美国国家航空航天局数十年的声学建模文件相矛盾。)”可知,Roesch认为联邦航空局的假设不合逻辑且不准确。故选B项。
【15题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文可知,文章第一段提到“But additional data collected indicates Starship may be even more damaging to local communities and wildlife than critics previously feared.(但是收集到的更多数据表明,星际飞船对当地社区和野生动物的破坏可能比批评者之前担心的还要严重。)”
The WHO predicts that half of the world’s population will have nearsightedness by 2050. It’s clear that our vision is becoming increasingly blurry, but researchers are only now beginning to understand why.
Generally a childhood phenomenon, nearsightedness happens when the eyeball grows too long from front to back. Eyes have a “stop signal” so that they grow proportionally with the head. However, that signal can be interrupted by genetic and environmental factors, which leads to our eyeballs growing a bit too much, making them too big for the optic (视觉的) nerves. ___16___ Signs that we might have nearsightedness include headaches and tiredness when driving or playing sport.
While we tend to blame the increased use of screens, experts believe the real reason lies in less time spent outdoors. ___17___ A study found a correlation between increased UVB (紫外线) exposure and a decrease in nearsightedness, particularly in children and young adults. Exposure to natural light helps regulate normal growth and development of the eyeball.
___18___ Most screens are high contrast - like black text on a white page, or light text on a dark background. Some scientists think that the contrast of reading a book or looking at a bright screen in a dark room might be overstimulating our retinas (视网膜). ___19___
Most people’s vision will stabilize in their teens, but some people develop nearsightedness later in life, typically between ages 20 and 40. ___20___ People with nearsightedness are at a higher risk of developing other eye issues as they age. That’s why regular eye tests are important.
A. Unclear vision isn’t the only downside.
B. Then comes more growth of the eyeball.
C. White background texts don’t affect our eyesight.
D. Our increased use of screens does cause a problem.
E. Natural light is essential for healthy eye development.
F. We can reduce nearsightedness by changing our lifestyles.
G. That mismatch leads to far-off objects looking out of focus.
【答案】16. G 17. E 18. D 19. B 20. A
【解析】
【导语】这是一篇说明文。主要介绍了近视的严重性、原因以及预防方法。
【16题详解】
根据上文“However, that signal can be interrupted by genetic and environmental factors, which leads to our eyeballs growing a bit too much, making them too big for the optic (视觉的) nerves.(而,这个信号可能会被遗传和环境因素打断,这导致我们的眼球长得太长,对视神经来说太大了。)”可知,眼球长得过长,对于视觉神经来说太大了,这是一种不匹配的情况。G选项That mismatch leads to far-off objects looking out of focus.(这种不匹配导致远处的物体看起来模糊不清。)可知,承接上文内容,“That mismatch” 指代上文提到的眼球和视觉神经的不匹配,符合语境。故选G项。
【17题详解】
根据上文“While we tend to blame the increased use of screens, experts believe the real reason lies in less time spent outdoors.(虽然我们倾向于归咎于屏幕使用时间的增加,但专家认为真正的原因在于户外活动的时间减少。)”可知,专家认为近视的真正原因是在户外时间少,再结合下文“A study found a correlation between increased UVB (紫外线) exposure and a decrease in nearsightedness, particularly in children and young adults. Exposure to natural light helps regulate normal growth and development of the eyeball.(一项研究发现,增加UVB暴露与减少近视之间存在相关性,尤其是在儿童和年轻人中。暴露在自然光下有助于调节眼球的正常生长和发育。)”可知,接触自然光有助于调节眼球的正常生长和发育。E选项 Natural light is essential for healthy eye development.(自然光对眼睛的健康发育至关重要。)可知,承上启下,强调了自然光的重要性。故选E项。
【18题详解】
根据下文“Most screens are high contrast - like black text on a white page, or light text on a dark background. Some scientists think that the contrast of reading a book or looking at a bright screen in a dark room might be overstimulating our retinas (视网膜).(大多数屏幕都是高对比度的,比如白色页面上的黑色文本,或者深色背景上的浅色文本。一些科学家认为,在黑暗的房间里看书或看明亮的屏幕的对比可能会过度刺激我们的视网膜。)”可知,这里在说屏幕的使用对眼睛的影响,屏幕的高对比度可能会过度刺激视网膜。D选项Our increased use of screens does cause a problem.( 我们对屏幕使用的增加确实造成了一个问题。)可知,引出下文关于屏幕使用对眼睛影响的内容,上下文紧密连接。故选D项。
【19题详解】
根据上文“Some scientists think that the contrast of reading a book or looking at a bright screen in a dark room might be overstimulating our retinas (视网膜).(一些科学家认为,在黑暗的房间里看书或看明亮的屏幕的对比可能会过度刺激我们的视网膜。)”可知,在黑暗房间里看书或看亮屏幕的对比度可能会过度刺激视网膜。B选项Then comes more growth of the eyeball.( 然后眼球会进一步生长)可知,承接上文,说明过度刺激视网膜可能会导致眼球进一步生长,进而引发近视。故选B项。
【20题详解】
根据上文“Most people’s vision will stabilize in their teens, but some people develop nearsightedness later in life, typically between ages 20 and 40.(大多数人的视力在青少年时期会稳定下来,但有些人会在以后的生活中患上近视,通常在20到40岁之间。)”可知,有些人在20到40岁时会患上近视,再结合下文“People with nearsightedness are at a higher risk of developing other eye issues as they age.(随着年龄的增长,近视的人患其他眼部疾病的风险更高。)”可知,近视的人随着年龄增长患其他眼部问题的风险更高。A选项Unclear vision isn’t the only downside.(视力模糊不是唯一的缺点。)可知,承上启下,指出近视除了视力模糊还有其他不良影响。故选A项。

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Every morning, Salina would wake up to the sweet smell of freshly baked cakes drifting from the kitchen. Grandma Margaret, with her apron (围裙) tied neatly around her waist, would be humming an old tune while preparing for breakfast. Salina would tiptoe in, her eyes still sleepy, and give Margaret a big hug from behind, burying her face in the soft fabric of the apron.
On sunny afternoons, they’d head to the garden hand in hand. Margaret would kneel down, showing Salina how to plant the seeds gently, patting the soil with care. “These little seeds, like our dreams, will grow with love and patience,” she’d say, as Salina listened intently, her eyes wide with wonder, imagining the colorful flowers that would soon spread across the garden.
When the evenings came, with the fire crackling in the fireplace, Margaret would take out her knitting needles and a ball of wool. Salina would curl up beside her on the old, cushioned sofa, her head resting on Margaret’s lap. As the needles clicked rhythmically, Margaret told tales of faraway lands, and kind fairies, painting vivid pictures in Salina’s mind that sent her off to sleep with a smile on her face.
As Salina grew older, the bond between them remained unshaken. School projects, first heartbreaks, and joys alike were all shared with Margaret. Their love was like a lighthouse, always there to guide and comfort through life’s storms and calm seas, a beautiful connection that would stay in Salina’s heart forever, a precious gift of family and love.
Tragedy, however, crept in silently one cold winter day. When Salina was busy in the classroom with the drawing which she couldn’t wait to share with Margaret after school, there came the unexpected news that her dear Grandma had died of stroke (中风).
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请在答题卡的相应位置作答。

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】 The world was completely upside down for Salina. She felt as if a part of her soul had been ripped away. The memories of her time with Grandma Margaret flooded her mind constantly. She skipped school for a few days, lying in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. One day, when she walked aimlessly on the street, she saw an old lady who looked a bit like Margaret. Her heart skipped a beat, but when the lady turned around, she realized it wasn’t her grandma. She felt a pang of sadness all over again.
Several days later, she passed the nursing home and saw the old lady again. This time, she decided to approach her. The old lady smiled at her gently, and Salina found comfort in that smile. She started chatting with the old lady, sharing some of her memories of Margaret. The old lady listened attentively, offering words of comfort and understanding. Salina realized that while Grandma Margaret was gone, the love and lessons she had given her would always be with her. From then on, she often visited the old lady, and gradually, the pain in her heart began to ease.

If the authors in it haven’t published novels, tons of them will end up hitting bookstore shelves eventually.
Bookmarks Magazine
Published every second month, it features nearly 50 book reviews in each issue.
6 What is the suggestion of the research?
A Improve traditional psychotherapy. B. Include lifestyle changes as an option.
C. Stick to the Mediterranean diet strictly. D. Replace psychotherapy with lifestyle changes.
7. In which column of a magazine might this text be found?
A. Fitness routines. B. Health & wellness.
C. Food adventures. D. Entertainment express.

D

F We can reduce nearsightedness by changing our lifestyles.
G. That mismatch leads to far-off objects looking out of focus.

1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请在答题卡的相应位置作答。
