Family rules are important. They help your children to know what is or isn’t OK in the family. But how can you make good family rules for your children?
When you make rules, it’s good for you to let your children join in. When you talk about rules with them, they are more likely (更可能) to obey them. Then, what are good family rules like?
First, you should tell your children what to do, not what not to do. For example, “Go to bed before 9: 30 p. m.!” is good. “Don’t go to bed late!” is not.
Second, rules should be clear (清晰的) for children to follow. For example, “Eat an egg every morning!” is good. “It’s important to eat well!” is not.
Also, it’s good for you to write down the rules to help children remember them. For little children, you can draw pictures to help them understand the rules.

When you want to ask your teacher a question during the maths class, what do you do? Do you simply shout out your question as soon as it comes into your mind? Or do you put up your hand and wait until the teacher calls your name?
If you put up your hand first, it’s maybe because your teacher has a rule that tells what you should do when you have a question. Can you imagine (想象) what it would be like if everyone could simply talk whenever they want during class?

Family rules are important. They help your children to know what is or isn’t OK in the family. But how can you make good family rules for your children?

First, you should tell your children what to do, not what not to do. For example, “Go to bed before 9: 30 p. m.!” is good. “Don’t go to bed late!” is not.
Second, rules should be clear (清晰的) for children to follow. For example, “Eat an egg every morning!” is good. “It’s important to eat well!” is not.
Also, it’s good for you to write down the rules to help children remember them. For little children, you can draw pictures to help them understand the rules.
