One possible version:
When Donna told the news to Troy’s family, everyone was surprised. They could hardly believe that their beloved
teacher was willing to go through such a personal sacrifice for them. This being a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the
mother, all the family couldn’t thank Donna enough for her kindness and compassion. Troy’s mother was deeply moved
by Donna’s selflessness and generosity, and at the same time, the prospect of healing brought renewed hope and joy into
their lives, especially for Troy, who felt a glimmer of happiness return.
Soon the kidney transplant took place. The operation was a success, and Troy’s mom began to recover with the new
kidney functioning well. As she started to get healthier and more energetic, the family’s burden was eased. Seeing his
mother regain her strength, Troy felt spirits improved significantly. He became active in class once again, engaging
eagerly with his peers and teachers. The change was evident in his bright eyes and enthusiastic participation. Donna’s
loving support not only impacted Troy’s academic performance but also helped save his mother’s life, forever changing
the course of their family’s journey.

(Text 1)
W: You are coming to the party, aren’t you?
M: Sure, can you remind me of the time? Is it at 7:00?
W: Originally, we had planned for it to be at 6:00, but since nobody could make it, we’ll move it to two hours later.
(Text 2)
W: You said you were going to put me in touch with Maria.
M: I’ve sent her two e-mails, but she just hasn’t responded. I don’t know if she’s left her job or moved to another country
or ...
(Text 3)
M: Hi Molly, I heard there’s a new gym in town. Have you checked it out?
W: Yes, I visited it last week. It’s not too busy, and they have a lot of advanced machines with interactive screens and
heart rate monitoring.
(Text 4)
M: I can’t believe there were so many applications for the software developer. Did you apply?
W: Well, who wouldn’t like to work from home and spend so much time in foreign places?
(Text 5)
W: So, that’ll be one fresh fruit salad for dessert.
M: Actually, I’ve changed my mind. I’d rather have a chocolate cake.
W: We’re out of it, but we do have freshly baked apple pie.
M: In that case, I’ll keep my order as it is.
(Text 6)
M: Your fruit trees are huge, Wendy.
W: I know. I’m sorry Bob, are they taking the light out of your garden?
M: Oh no, not at all. In fact, it’s nice to have a bit of shade in the garden in the summer. They will produce better fruit
if you get them cut back, though.
W: I know but I’m scared of climbing ladders and I can’t afford a tree surgeon.
M: I’d be more than happy to sort them out for you. After all, you always give me bowls of fruit.
(Text 7)
M: Did you have a good holiday?
W: Yes. My parents always book hotels in beautiful or unusual locations, like on a mountain. Last year my parents
talked about staying in a beach hotel. This year we stayed in a hotel that was inside a castle. The atmosphere was
really quite special!
M: So, you liked staying there?
W: Well, we’re quite particular about restaurants in hotels but this one was better than we expected. The poor service
though, will probably stop us returning next summer. The guests were noisy sometimes, but not when we wanted to
go to sleep.
(Text 8)
W: Gregory, I heard you were selected to present a talk at the National Energy Summit this fall. Congratulations!
M: Thank you. I’m excited about the opportunity, but I have no idea what I’ll talk about. It has to be about sustainable
energy.
W: I’ve been researching how residential solar power is becoming more common for a long time. How about that?
M: It’s a great idea, but it won’t work. The speech by award-winning scientist Rania Shenoy will be closely related to
that.
W: I’ve got a monthly subscription to Green Future magazine. I’m sure you could find some ideas in the old editions.
You’re more than welcome to borrow them.
(Text 9)
W: I’m with book illustrator David Watkins. David, you’ve drawn pictures for books for many years. What first made
you want to begin drawing?
M: Well, I had lots of illustrated books as a child, many with brightly-colored pictures. And some of them were really
funny. The book I kept returning to, though, had pages full of little drawings of people doing different things. And I
decided I wanted to draw just like that artist.
W: So were you good at drawing from an early age?
M: Well, I was certainly never the greatest at drawing at school, but it was the thing I enjoyed more than anything else,
so I just kept at it until I got better, and that took time.
W: But initially, you were unwilling to let other people see your work. How did you get over that?
M: Well, some artists ask people they work with for their honest opinions — but you can’t always
guarantee you’ll get them, of course! And I did consider putting my stuff on a website, then seeing what the
responses were, but I wasn’t sure that’d help my confidence. So I created small boxes decorated with my drawings,
to give to people close to me. They were so pleased to receive them. They didn’t notice the decoration, and strangely,
that helped enormously!
(Text 10)
W: Hi, everyone. It’s me, Kristin, and this is my video blog, Living the Color Green. Sorry I haven’t been on for a while,
and sorry my house is such a mess, but it’s been a busy summer. Anyway today I want to talk about a new project, or
a new goal, really. It’s called a buy-nothing year, and it’s just an attempt not to buy anything new for an entire year.
Sound easy? I didn’t think so. A close friend of mine just finished her buy-nothing year, and although she did pretty
well, she did end up buying a couple of new things, including a new dress — but it was designed by a friend of hers,
and she felt she had to buy it. But the other difficulty my friend ran into is things going wrong in the cause. Some of
her electrical wiring needed to be replaced, and you can’t exactly use second-hand wiring, right? Anyway, the
advantages of doing this are obvious — cutting down on rubbish in the landfills, more money saved, and more free
time, since you don’t have to spend all that time shopping for new clothes.

C篇【答案】28. A 29. B 30. D 31. D
What makes this“Reels”feature strange is that it is hugely addictive, which I know quite
well from my own personal experience. Last Friday, I took a break and hit on one short clip of someone making dinner
and, well, the next time I looked up it was 20 minutes later and the blank document on my computer monitor was
confirming to me that my work was still not done.
故选 A。
Today, TikTok has around 23 million UK users every month-including basically every
person you know under the age of 25. And that fact has made Facebook and its parent company, Meta, very nervous
indeed. As TikTok has continued to boom, Facebook has actually fallen in popularity among “Gen Z” . The reason
TikTok has proven such a powerful challenger to Facebook’s social media dominance is almost entirely down to these
sorts of short-form videos.
The format is almost perfectly optimised to be as addictive as possible: TikTok’s app
shows you a short-form video, and if you don’t like it, you can simply swipe it away and another one will start playing
instantly.
Facebook isn’t the only app trying to do what TikTok does so well. Instagram, which
is owned by Facebook’s parent company Meta, has integrated Reels even more aggressively into its app. And even
Google is nervous, launching its own TikTok-style video section of YouTube (which it owns) a couple of years ago. As
things stand, though TikTok currently maintains a healthy lead in the category, both YouTube and Facebook have deep
pockets-so expect to see even more Reels and Shorts popping up in your feed as this intense battle continues to rage. You
won’t be able to take your eyes off them.
几年前在 YouTube(它拥有的 YouTube)上推出了自己的 tiktok 风格的视频部分。
D 33. B 34. A 35. D
For example, kindergartens can introduce different vegetables and fruit to children in
hands-on sessions, they can involve children in baking and cooking, and they can offer children opportunities for
growing their own vegetables in the kindergarten backyard. Food-related themes can also be included in books and
The researchers compared children in different kindergarten groups. Some were offered
sensory-based food education, while others weren’t. Children were offered a snack buffet containing different vegetables
and fruit to choose from, and the researchers took photos of their plates to analyse their willingness to choose and eat
The findings show that sensory-based food education increased children’s willingness to
choose vegetables and fruit, especially among children whose mothers have a lower educational background. On average,
children of lower educated parents tend to eat less vegetables and fruit.
所以 even
故选 A。
Sensory-based food education given to 3-5 year-old children in the kindergarten increases
their willingness to choose vegetables and fruit, according to a new study from the University of Eastern Finland.(东芬

About eight years ago, Li Jinglong and Guan Dian visited the Palace Museum in Beijing. The cloisonne(景泰蓝瓷器) objects on display attracted them in particular. They spent hours looking at those beautiful objects. They just couldn't take their eyes off them.
Born and raised in Beijing, 35-year-old Li is no stranger to cloisonne, since there were a pair of cloisonne vases in his grandparents’ home. His wife, 34-year-old Guan, who learned to paint as a child and later became a designer after graduating from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, is also familiar with cloisonne, as it appears in her art books. As a result of their visit, the couple made the daring decision to open a workshop.
“We learned cloisonne after seeing the pieces displayed in the Palace Museum. We wanted to turn our hobby into a career, so that people could enjoy and learn to make the craft themselves,” said Lt, who worked in a finance company before quitting his job to launch Handcraft Addicted, a DIY workshop where participants can make cloisonne. Since 2018,they have opened three workshops in Beijing. They are happy to give people a glimpse of the traditional techniques of cloisonne as part of a DIY experience.
Instead of focusing on making traditional cloisonne objects, such as plates and vases, the workshop allows participants to create the designs they want on surface of glass, resin(树脂) or wood. Although the process has been simplified, it is still-not easy for people trying cloisonne for the first time to succeed. Participants spend months making one piece. which they take home or give friends as presents. It's a luxury for people to spend time alone and fully focus on one thing nowadays because of the fast pace of life. Participants come to the workshop not only to create art, but also to take a break from their busy lives.
24. According to the passage, what can we learn about the couple?

If you've scrolled through your Facebook feed recently, you may have noticed something surprising: lots and lots of short videos.
What makes this" Reels" facture strange is that it is hugely addictive, which I know quite well from my own personal experience. Last Friday, I took a break and hit on one short clip of someone making dinner and, well, the next time I looked up it was 20 minutes later and the blank document on my computer monitor was confirming to me that my work was still not done.
However, as silly as it seems, Reels is actually super important, and is at the center of a major battle between the world's largest tech firms. The format(格式) was first pioneered by TikTok--the Chinese-owned video app that has taken the world by storm since it launched in 2016. Today, TikTok has around 23 million UK users every month--including basically every person you know under the age of 25. And that fact has made Facebook and its parent company, Meta, very nervous indeed. As TikTok has continued to boom, Facebook has actually fallen in popularity among “Gen Z”. The reason Tik Tok has proven such a powerful challenger to Facebook's social media dominance is almost entirely down to these sorts of short-form videos.
The format is almost perfectly optimized to be as addictive as possible: Tik Tok's app shows you a short-form video, and if you don't like it, you can simply s wipe it away and another one will start playing instantly. And because it is portrait, not landscape, videos look “right” when viewed on your phone. What's also smart is that TikTok's algorithm(算法) picks videos for you based on what you actually watch, and not what you say you want.
Facebook isn't the only app trying to do what TikTok does so well. Instagram, which is owned by Facebook's parent company Meta, has integrated Reels even more aggressively into its app. And even Google is nervous, launching its own TikTok-style video section of YouTube (which it owns) a couple of years ago. As things stand, though TikTok currently maintains a healthy lead in the category, both YouTube and Facebook have deep pockets-- - so expect to see even more Reels and Shorts popping up in your feed as this intense battle continues to rage. You won't be able to take your eyes off them.
28. Why did the author mention his own experience in paragraph 2?
A. To illustrate the feature of short videos. B. To stress the importance of short videos.
C. To prove his preference to short videos. D. To introduce the functions of short videos.
29. What do we know about TikTok according to the passage?
A. It has shown the trend of the fall in popularity among “Gen Z”.
B. It is perceived as a potential threat to Facebook's social media dominance
C. Its number of registered UK users has reached 23 million since it launched in 2016.
D. It underestimates the essential role of short videos in competition with large tech firms.
30. What makes the short videos on TikTok App so popular?
A. The beautiful visual effects. B. The high video quality.
C. The random recommendation D. The quick switch between videos.
31. What is the message conveyed in the last paragraph?
A. The short videos have a profound impact on our daily life.
B. TikTok seems to be losing its advantage over short videos in the short run
C. YouTube and Facebook may encounter financial difficulties in developing Shorts.
D. A growing number of tech firms have engaged in fierce competition for the short video market.

Sensory-based food education given to 3-5-year-old children in the kindergarten increases their willingness to choose vegetables and fruit, according to a new study from the University of Eastern Finland.
The researchers used the sensory-based food education method Sapere, which makes use of children's natural way of relying on all of the five sense s when learning new things. In the Sapere method, children are given an active role around food, and they are encouraged to share their sensory experiences. For example, kindergartens can introduce different vegetables and fruit to children in hands-on sessions, they can involve children in baking and cooking, and they can offer children opportunities for growing their own vegetables in the kindergarten backyard. Food-related themes can also be included in books and games.
“There are several different ways to do this. However, it always starts from sensory-based learning and child engagement. Doing and experiencing things together is also an important aspect,” says Kaisa Kähkönen, a researcher and nutritionist from the University of Eastern Finland.
The researchers compared children in different kindergarten groups. Some were offered sensory-based food education, while others weren't. Children were offered a snack buffet containing different vegetables and fruit to choose from, and the researchers took photos of their plates to analyze their willingness to choose and eat these food items.
The findings show that sensory-based food education increased children's willingness to choose vegetables and fruit, especially among children whose mothers have a lower educational background. On average, children of lower educated parents tend to eat less vegetables and fruit. This is how food education given in the kindergarten can help even out dietary gap between families.
“Another interesting finding is that the Sapere food education method also seems to improve the eating atmosphere in kindergarten groups. This encouraged children who were picky eaters to choose a more diverse selection on their plate, "Kähkönen explains.
Positive and personal food-related experiences gained in the kindergarten can help adjust dietary preferences in a direction that is beneficial for health. Dietary preferences learned in early childhood often stick with a person all the way to adolescence and adulthood.
32. What can we know about the Sapere method?
A. It improves kids' five senses. B. It enables kids to read more books.
C. It supplies various healthy food to kids. D. It involves kids in active food-related activities.
33. What is paragraph 4 mainly about?
A. The research purpose. B. The research process.
C. The research findings. D. The research evaluation:.
34. What does the underlined part “even out” in paragraph 5 probably mean?
A. Narrow. B. Identify. C. Analyze. D Examine.
35. What might be the best title for the text?
A. Benefits of eating fruit and vegetables
B. Differences in family dietary preferences
C. Necessity for kids to form learning habits
D. New method to promote kids' healthy eating

Teachers are a gift, especially Troy's teacher, Donna. She always goes above and beyond for her students, but what she did for Troy's family is truly beyond selflessness but a miracle(奇迹).
Donna is one of those teachers who pay close attention to the students in their classroom. She began to notice something odd in one of her elementary students, Troy. He was not active in class like he had been. Troy used to be a passionate student in class, engaging with teachers and his friends. Being a helping hand to the teacher and classmates, Troy was always welcomed by everybody. However, he was all of a sudden so shut down and his behavior was simply not the same. He seemed to be silent all the time, and his eyes lost light of desire for knowledge and passion for any activities. Donna grew very concerned and wondered if there was something going on that affected his performance at school. So, she reached out to Troy's mom to express her concerns.
And that was when she discovered something wrong. For the past year, his mom had been in stage-five kidney(肾)failure. She was in pain every day and desperately needed a new kidney. But she had a rare blood type, so finding a match for a kidney transplant was virtually impossible. Her condition had been a very long and anxious journey. It had been so painful for the family, and it had definitely made an impact on Troy. And in class, he had been silently carrying the pain his mom was going through at home.
The news broke Donna's heart. She knew that she just had to do something. She was there as a loving friend to help Troy with his studies, but she was also there for his mom. Donna researched how to become a kidney donor and discovered that she had the same rare blood type as Troy's mom. She got tested and, surprisingly, she was a match.
