Passage 4
Traveling seemed like falsehood to me. I grew tired of backpackers expressing too much praise about how petting a baby elephant in Thailand “transformed” them. Globe-traveling to me held no more promise than finding a few bills in the pocket of an old coat. I needed something deeper than an Eat, Play, Love moment.
One day, Vasilis, my Greek best friend, reminded me of our decade-old promise: After our final exams, I would visit his hometown in Athens. Maybe, it was time to make good on that promise. I finally boarded the plane. Vasilis picked me up at the airport. I smiled, thinking how improbable this moment seemed all those years ago.
The decade-long wait proved to be well worth it. Every step through the ancient streets revealed new wonders. However, none of them truly mattered. What would forever alter my perception of travel was a chance encounter with a local.
Vasilis and I were wandering Athens when a special sound caught our attention — a rhythmic clinking disturbing the quietness of the residential street. Curiously, we followed the sound to a humble workshop. Inside, a welder (焊工) gave no mind to our presence behind him. He wore no flashy protective suit — this was just another day for him, another dance with fire and metal that had become second nature. Under the sunshade, his orange cat rested in the comforting warmth.
As the man continued welding, I felt a bit of envy. I envied his peace and contentment. I admired the simplicity he embodied. I imagined the welder happy, finding fulfillment in his craft and returning to his loving family. The moment moved me to tears. Leaving the workshop, rain blending with tears, I realized how easily life’s poetry could pass unnoticed.
Home again in Montreal, I stop simply pursuing better things, better experiences and better people that are never grasped. I realize the real journey is inward — to appreciate life’s ordinary magic. That surely beats petting any baby elephant. I may not have returned home “transformed”, but I’ll always think of the welder and his cat.
10.Why did the author feel uneasy when it came to traveling?
A.For her shortage of adequate funds. B.For her discomfort about dietary habits.
C.For the danger of petting baby animals. D.For the overstatement of travel’s effects.
11.What caused the author to go to Athens?
A.Meeting a commitment. B.Exploring the unique landscape.
C.Receiving further education. D.Escaping from the current life.
12.What does the underlined word “poetry” in paragraph 5 probably refer to?
A.Ordinary magic. B.Petting a baby elephant.
C.Spirit of craftsmanship. D.Rain mixing with tears.
13.What does the author want to tell us?
A.True friendship lasts forever. B.Globe-traveling shapes a better self.
C.The ordinary makes extraordinary. D.The pursuit of happiness never stops.
【答案】10.D 11.A 12.A 13.C
根据第一段“Traveling seemed like falsehood to me. I grew tired of backpackers expressing too much praise about how petting a baby elephant in Thailand “transformed” them.(旅行对我来说就像是谎言。我已经厌倦了背包客们对在泰国抚摸小象如何“改变”了他们的赞不绝口)”可知,作者对旅行者过度赞美旅行带来的好处感到厌烦。故选D。
11.细节理解题。根据第二段“One day, Vasilis, my Greek best friend, reminded me of our decade-old promise: After our final exams, I would visit his hometown in Athens. Maybe, it was time to make good on that promise. I finally boarded the plane. Vasilis picked me up at the airport. I smiled, thinking how improbable this moment seemed all those years ago.(一天,我最好的希腊朋友瓦西里斯让我想起了我们十年前的约定:期末考试结束后,我要去他在雅典的家乡看看。也许,是时候兑现这个承诺了。我终于上了飞机。瓦西里斯去机场接我。我笑了,想着多年前这一刻是多么不可思议)”可知,作者是为了兑现承诺而去希腊与朋友见面。故选A。
根据倒数第二段“I envied his peace and contentment. I admired the simplicity he embodied. I imagined the welder happy, finding fulfillment in his craft (手艺) and returning to his loving family. The moment moved me to tears. Leaving the workshop, rain blending with tears, I realized how easily life’s poetry could pass unnoticed.(我羡慕他的平静和满足。 故选A。
根据最后一段“Home again in Montreal, I stop simply pursuing better things, better experiences and better people that are never grasped. I realize the real journey is inward — to appreciate life’s ordinary magic. That surely beats petting any baby elephant. I may not have returned home “transformed”, but I’ll always think of the welder and his cat.(回到蒙特利尔的家,我不再简单地追求更好的事物、更好的经历和更好的人,而这些都是永远无法抓住的。我意识到真正的旅程是向内的——去欣赏生活平凡的魔力。这肯定比抚摸小象要好。也许我回家时并没有“焕然一新的”,但我总会想起那个焊工和他的猫)”结合文章讲述了希腊之旅让作者领悟到人生之旅的真谛是平凡,故作者想要告诉我们的是:平凡造就非凡。故选C。
Passage 5
(24-25高二上·河南三门峡·期末)On the glittering Red Sea coast, there’s a luxury tourist destination that has it all: white sands, perfect accommodation, world-class yachting and — perhaps surprisingly — a cutting-edge laboratory that’s protecting coral reefs from climate change.
AMAALA is a new kind of sustainable destination. Run with 100% renewable energy, it is one of two carbon neutral luxury destinations that Red Sea Global (RSG) operates, which are test beds for sustainable development and hubs for new technology and ecological research.
Its most ambitious project is to protect and regenerate corals, which are under extreme pressure from warming temperatures, in the Red Sea and beyond. “Corals cover less than 1% of the Earth’s surface but they sustain 25% of all marine life,” says John Pagano, Group CEO of RSG. “To protect and enhance the coral reefs under our guardianship we are using advanced technologies, such as remote operated vehicles and machine learning, to monitor coral cover. These innovations can produce 3D images and automatically analyze them, enabling our scientists to quickly identify and respond to threats like coral bleaching and invasive species.”
RSG’s scientists are also developing an onshore nursery, where corals are developed in controlled conditions. The idea is to boost the natural coral reefs when needed, says a marine conservationist on the team.
Soon, RSG will also begin testing 3D-printed materials to create artificial substrates for relocating coral colonies or growing new ones. Essentially, it means creating new reefs to support marine life. And the cool thing is that everyone’s invited.
RSG’s vision is for tourism, conservation and research to co-exist and sustain each other at its destinations. The marine life institute, built at AMAALA, will include visitor experiences alongside its laboratories and rehabilitation centers. Tourists will be encouraged to participate, play and learn. “We believe that academic research and tourism can work together, for people and planet alike,” says Pagano.
Dr Jess Bouwmeester, an associate director of RSG, is looking forward to seeing visitors. “We want to get them involved,” she says. “As soon as people start learning about corals they tend to be a lot more protective of them. In terms of environmental awareness, getting the tourism sector involved is extremely important.”
14.What do we know about AMAALA and RSG?
A.They are both luxury tourist destinations.
B.They are both test beds for sustainable development.
C.RSG cooperates with AMAALA to protect corals.
D.RSG runs AMAALA as its multifunctional destination.
15.According to John Pagano, why is it an ambitious project to protect corals?
A.Corals should be under the guardianship of RSG.
B.Corals play a critical role in supporting certain sea life.
C.Corals cover less than 1% of the Eeath’s surface but sustain 25% of ecological life.
D.Corals are under extreme pressure because of warming temperatures.
16.What are RSG’s scientists doing to protect the corals?
A.Using cutting-edge technologies to keep track of corals.
B.Analyzing the 3D images to respond to potential threats.
C.Testing 3D-printed materials to help create new coral reefs.
D.Developing an offshore nursery to boost natural coral reefs.
17.What is Dr Jess Bouwmeester’s attitude towards tourism in the marine life institute?
A.Concerned. B.Tolerant. C.Objective. D.Favourable.
【答案】14.D 15.B 16.A 17.D
根据第二段中“AMAALA is a new kind of sustainable destination. Run with 100% renewable energy, it is one of two carbon neutral luxury destinations that Red Sea Global (RSG) operates, which are test beds for sustainable development and hubs for new technology and ecological research.(AMAALA是一种新型的可持续发展目的地。它采用100%可再生能源运营,是红海全球公司(RSG)运营的两个碳中和豪华目的地之一,这些目的地是可持续发展的试验场,也是新技术和生态研究的中心)”可知,RSG将AMAALA作为其多功能目的地来运营。故选D项。
15.细节理解题。根据第三段中“Its most ambitious project is to protect and regenerate corals, which are under extreme pressure from warming temperatures, in the Red Sea and beyond. “Corals cover less than 1% of the Earth’s surface but they sustain 25% of all marine life,” says John Pagano, Group CEO of RSG. (它最雄心勃勃的项目是保护和再生红海及其他地区的珊瑚,这些珊瑚正面临着气候变暖的极端压力。RSG集团首席执行官约翰·帕加诺说:“珊瑚覆盖的面积不到地球表面的1%,但它们维持着25%的海洋生物生存”)”可知,珊瑚在维持某些海洋生物生存方面发挥着至关重要的作用。故选B项。
16.细节理解题。根据第三段中“To protect and enhance the coral reefs under our guardianship we are using advanced technologies, such as remote operated vehicles and machine learning, to monitor coral cover.(为了保护和改善我们所监护的珊瑚礁,我们正在使用先进技术,如遥控车辆和机器学习,来监测珊瑚覆盖情况)”可知,RSG的科学家正在使用尖端技术来跟踪珊瑚情况。故选A项。

Passage 6
“Arrived in Bologna, Italy, today, now it’s off to Tuscany. The heatwave is unbearable here. If things continue like this, these holiday destinations will have no future in the long term. Climate Change is destroying sout
ern Europe. An era comes to an End.” This tweet in early July by Karl Lauterbach, Germany’s health minister (部长), went down badly in Italy.
The country’s minister for tourism, Daniela Santache, sourly retorted (回嘴) that she thanked Mr. Lauterbach for picking Italy for his holiday, but the Italian government was well aware of climate change and that environmental sustainability was one of the central elements of its strategy for managing tourism.
The tourism industry is not just an important contributor to Italy’s economy. Europe is the most visited area on the earth, welcoming 585 million of the world’s 900 million international travelers in 2022. On top of this, domestic (国内的) holiday makers outstripped foreigners in terms of more nights spent in tourist accommodation in the EU.
Little wonder then that tourism directly brings in 5% of the EU’s GDP and by some estimates indirectly accounts for more than 10%. Some countries rely heavily on travelers’ contributions both direct and indirect, including Croatia (20% of GDP), Italy (18.5%), Greece (13.6%) and Austria (10%).
Changes to the climate that lead to ever-wilder weather could give a heavy blow to the tourist industry. This year, southern Europe has endured an extremely hot weather. Extremely hot weather in Greece contributed to damaging wildfires as the temperature at one point climbed to 47°C in parts of the country, forcing hundreds of locals to escape from their homes. Farther north, hailstorm killed several lives. Also in July, Italian authorities had to evacuate thousands of tourists from Sicily after wildfires destroyed the island.
18.Why did Karl post the tweet?
A.Climate Change is destroying the whole Europe. B.His health went down for the heatwave.
C.Extremely hot weather cost him his holiday. D.He preferred touring in Tuscany to Bologna.
19.What does the underlined word “outstripped” mean?
A.Got ahead of. B.Looked forward to.
C.Warmly welcomed. D.Got attracted by.
20.Which country could have suffered the most serious effects in tourism this year?
A.Greece. B.Italy. C.Croatia. D.Austria
21.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Europe Tourism suffered because of wild fires.
B.It’s really too hot to handle.
C.Extreme weather has affected where tourists go and when.
D.How climate change hits the European holidaymaking.
【答案】18.C 19.A 20.B 21.D
根据第一段““Arrived in Bologna, Italy, today, now it’s off to Tuscany. The heatwave is unbearable here. If things continue like this, these holiday destinations will have no future in the long term. Climate Change is destroying southern Europe. An era comes to an End.” This tweet in early July by Karl Lauterbach, Germany’s health minister (部长), went down badly in Italy.
故选A项。
根据最后一段中“Also in July, Italian authorities had to evacuate thousands of tourists from Sicily after wildfires destroyed the island. (同样在7月,意大利当局不得不从西西里岛撤离数千名游客,因为野火摧毁了该岛)”可推知,因为野火和疏散行动,意大利的旅游业受到了最直接和最严重的影响。故选B项。
21.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是最后一段中“Changes to the climate that lead to ever-wilder weather could give a heavy blow to the tourist industry. (气候变化导致天气越来越恶劣,这可能会给旅游业带来沉重打击)”可知,文章开头通过德国卫生部长Karl Lauterbach的推文引入,提到意大利的酷热天气和气候变化对度假胜地的威胁,接着讨论了旅游业对欧洲经济的重要性,最后详细描述了今年南欧极端天气对旅游业的具体影响,包括希腊的野火和意大利的疏散行动。因此,文章主要是关于气候变化如何影响欧洲的度假旅游业。故选D项。
Passage 7
(24-25高二上·辽宁丹东·期末)China’s new hit TV show To the Wonder has made Altay in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region a new trendy tourist destination among young people, who are attracted by the breathtaking views and the simple and heartwarming lives of the local residents.
Adapted from Li Juan’s My Altay, the drama tells the story of Li Wenxiu, who returned to her hometown after career setbacks and found the meaning of life and her love there. The grassland views and free and easy lives showcased in the teleplay soon made Altay one of the top scenic spots.
The travel website Qunar said that from May 7, flight ticket bookings to Altay rose 20 percent compared with the same period in the previous month, and hotel bookings doubled during the period on its platform.

Passage 8
As a Chinese-German student at Tsinghua University, I thought I had a good grasp of both Chinese culture and modernization.
As one of the destinations of the “Go Jiangsu” program, we visited the Yao Jiaping Embroidery Art Gallery. Before this encounter, my interaction with Suzhou embroidery (刺绣) was limited to online images, which is why, at the art gallery, I was amazed at the unbelievable precision that I had assumed was machine-made.
Seeking a hands-on experience, I realized those weaving stories with threads are a millennia-old cultural heritage. It struck me that this isn’t just handicraft; it’s an art form and a slice of history.
Wandering through Suzhou at night was a different kind of magic. The streetlights, busy markets, and street food transported me to another dimension. Walking down the Pingjiang Road, where ancient buildings meet modern lighting, I felt the unique charm of Suzhou. It dawned on me that modernization doesn’t have to mean abandoning tradition; they can exist side by side.
Exploring Suzhou Industrial Park, I witnessed another facet(方面)of China’s modernization. These towering buildings and cutting-edge companies showcased the rapid pace of China’s modern development. The transition from ancient culture to modern technology was nothing short of astonishing.
Visiting the Suzhou Museum of Imperial Kiln Brick rounded out my journey, offering a comprehensive view of China’s history. Each exhibit narrated a story, spanning from ancient artifacts to modern achievements, enriching my understanding of China’s developmental process.
Suzhou absolutely lives up to its reputation as “the city of museums, the city of parks, and the city of theater”. Through personal encounters, I gained not just knowledge but a deeper connection and appreciation for China’s culture and progress. This journey wasn’t just a physical one; it was an enriching experience for the soul.

A.To advocate preserving the tradition. B.To highlight the local rapid development.
C.To emphasize the importance of modernization. D.To praise the integration of tradition and modernity.
29.What does the writer imply in the last paragraph?
A.The trip is well worth it. B.Culture contradicts with progress.

Passage 9
(24-25高二上·云南·期末)Inspired by Marco Polo, who traveled to China along the ancient Silk Road more than 700 years ago, Italian traveler Vienna-Cammarota set off from the legendary explorer’s hometown Venice on April 26th, 2022, to retrace the route on foot.
With a simple backpack and two trekking poles (徒步手杖), 74-year-old Cammarota has covered 20, 000 km and passed through dozens of countries. The moment she set foot in China on August 29th, she was warmly greeted by people who put on traditional dance and singing performances for her arrival via Irkeshtam, the country’s farthest-west land port in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Starting from Xinjiang, Cammarota has embarked on a 15-month cultural journey across China and will explore over 30 cities in 17 provinces. Her journey will come to an end in Beijing to mark the 750th anniversary of Marco Polo’s arrival in China.
Throughout her trip, Cammarota witnessed the transformation of the ancient Silk road into a corridor of economic and cultural exchange, “I have seen the bridges, highways, and railways built under China’s Belt and Road Initiative which connect countries in a way that echoes the Silk Road’s historical role in facilitating trade and cultural exchange.”
Last year, Cammarota reached Tajikistan, where she visited the China-Tajikistan highway project. The infrastructure project, once completed, is expected to enhance regional connectivity and bring new opportunities. “This project embodies the spirit of BRI — bring hope and development to the countries along the path,” she said.
For Cammarota, this journey is more than retracing Marco Polo’s footsteps. She hopes her travel will help people in Italy and the West see the true beauty and greatness of China. “This is a land filled with numerous UNESCO heritage sites, cutting-edge technology, and a harmonious balance between urban development and natural preservation,” she said.
Describing herself as an ambassador of cultural exchange and mordern-day Marco Polo, Cammarota noted that “I want people to know about Marco Polo and the Silk Road, but I also want to send a message to women of my age — it’s never too late to pursue your dream”
30.What can we learn about Cammarota?

Passage 10
Under the gaze of the world’s media, the city of Venice launched a pilot program. Thursday to charge day-trippers a 5-euro entry fee, which authorities hope will discourage visitors from arriving on peak days and make the city more livable for its dwindling (日益减少的) residents.
“We need to find a new balance between the tourists and residents,” said Simone Venturini, the city’s top tourism official. “Venice is stressed when the number of day-trippers reaches 30,000 to 40,000. On peak days, local police set up one-way traffic for pedestrians to keep the crowds moving. We need to safeguard the spaces of the residents, of course, and we need to discourage the arrival of day-trippers on some particular days.”
Not all residents, however, are persuaded of the effectiveness of the new system in stopping mass ’tourism. Hundreds of Venetians protested against the program, marching festivaly through the city’s main bus terminal behind banners reading “No to Tickets, Yes to Services and Housing.” Those residents insist that the solution to Venice’s trouble is to boost the resident population and the services they need, limiting short-term rentals to make available more housing and attract families back from the mainland.
Last year, Venice passed a telling milestone when the number of tourists exceeded (超过) for the first time the number of official residents, which is now below 50,000 in the historic center with its picturesque canals. Neighboring apartments in many residential buildings near the famed Rialto Bridge once inhabited by families are now short-term apartment rentals.
Elena Gastaldello, president of Arci of Veneto, said that the entrance fee will get nowhere. “The ticket will not set limits on tourist access to Venice as no maximum number of visitors has been established, but it will further transform the city into an amusement park,” she told CNN by phone.
Venturini said that interest in Venice’s pilot program has been keen from other places suffering from mass tourism, including other Italian art cities, and municipalities abroad such as Barcelona, Spain, and Amsterdam.
34.What is the main purpose of Venice’s action?
A.To improve the quality of tourism services.
B.To promote local businesses and economy.
C.To reduce the number of tourists on peak days.
D.To increase the city’s reputation in the world.
35.What did Simone Venturini try to stress in paragraph 2?
A.The poor living conditions in Venice.
B.The terrible traffic conditions of Venice.
C.The necessity of limiting visitors to Venice.
D.The popularity of tourist attractions in Venice.
36.What was Elena Gastaldello’s attitude towards the entrance fee?
A.Negative. B.Mixed. C.Supportive. D.Uncaring.
37.What would be the most suitable title for the text?
A.Overtourism Has Bad Effects on Venice.
B.A 5-Euro Fee Prevents Visitors Entering Venice.
C.Venice’s Pilot Program Attracted Media Attention.
D.Venice Begins Charging Entry Fee for Day-Trippers.

Passage 11
It was an arresting image: a large airplane parked on the Antarctic ice, smiling flight attendants posing in front of it. The shot seemed to mark a new phase for Antarctic tourism. Fortunately, the flight in question was delivering staff and supplies for research rather than tourism — but travel to Earth’s southernmost continent has nonetheless reached a new milestone. The growing number of visitors brought a new urgency to the question of how much tourism should be allowed on the icy continent.
Many members of the International Association of Antarctic Tourism Operators (IAATO) say promoting Antarctic conservation is part of their mission. In fact, IAATO members follow strict rules designed to protect the environment, including removing all waste from the continent and avoiding unknowingly introducing non-native species. Nonetheless, a number of biosecurity studies found a large number of non-native species present. The risks are real. An invasive (侵袭的) grass species has established a foothold on one of Antarctica’s South Shetland Islands, while bird flu recently reached the Sub-Antarctic Islands, where it has had a damaging effect on the seal population.
Despite these growing threats, biosecurity is not the biggest danger facing Antarctica’s wilderness areas. Tourists can reduce biosecurity risks by taking new clothing to Antarctica, but the carbon impact is a real issue. The average per-person carbon emissions (排放) for an Antarctic tourist are 3.76 tonnes — about the total sum that an individual typically generates in an entire year. One study calculated that each tourist between 2016 and 2020 was effectively melting around 83 tonnes of snow, due largely to emissions from travel ships.
The Antarctic is at risk not just because of the delicacy of its environment, but due to the lack of a single governing body. The Antarctic Treaty, established in 1961 to provide governance for the continent, operates on a consultative basis, which means all parties have to agree before a change can be put into action.
There is a common understanding that something needs to change, but no agreement on what those changes should be. Should landings be made at a larger number of sites for instance, or should we aim to keep the human footprint as small as possible? Researchers recommend that anyone thinking about visiting Antarctica should take a hard look at their motivation and the impacts of their choice.
“As a researcher, it’s a moral decision that I make every time I go, whether what I’m doing is worth the impact,” said a professor, who says tourists should also weigh up the consequences.
“If your motivation is simply because you have stepped on six continents already and you want to step on the seventh — personally I think that’s a fairly silly reason.”
38.What can we learn from this passage?
A.Non-native species have not been found in the Antarctic so far.
B.The best way to reach the Antarctic is by taking a large airplane.
C.Developing tourism and doing research are equally important in the Antarctic.
D.IAATO has taken some measures to conserve the environment in the Antarctic.
39.What is the primary concern about the growing travelers in the Antarctic?
A.The absence of a single governing body.
B.The decline in the number of seals due to tourism.
C.The potential for tourists to introduce invasive species.
D.The carbon emissions associated with travel to the Antarctic.
40.The main moral challenge presented by Antarctic tourism is ________.
A.allowing tourists to access areas typically reserved for research
B.deciding whether tourism can fund further exploration of the Antarctic
C.satisfying personal desires for traveling while preserving the environment
D.balancing the economic benefits of tourism with the environmental impact
41.Which would be the best title for this passage?
A.Antarctic Research: A Promising Future!
B.Flying to the Antarctic: A New Milestone!
C.Antarctic Tourism: Should We Just Say No?
D.Threat to the Antarctic: Why Biosecurity Risks?
根据第二段第二句“In fact, IAATO members follow strict rules designed to protect the environment, including removing all waste from the continent and avoiding unknowingly introducing non-native species.(事实上,国际南极旅游经营者协会(IAATO)的成员遵循旨在保护环境的严格规定,包括清除南极大陆上的所有废物,并避免在不知情的情况下引入非本地物种。)”
根据第三段中“Tourists can reduce biosecurity risks by taking new clothing to Antarctica, but the carbon impact is a real issue. The average per-person carbon emissions (排放) for an Antarctic tourist are 3.76 tonnes — about the total sum that an individual typically generates in an entire year. One study calculated that each tourist between 2016 and 2020 was effectively melting around 83 tonnes of snow, due largely to emissions from travel ships.(游客可以通过带新衣服去南极洲来减少生物安全风险,但碳影响是一个真正的问题。南极游客的人均碳排放量为3.76吨——大约是一个人一整年的碳排放量总和。一项研究计算出,2016年至2020年期间,每位游客实际上融化了约83吨雪,这主要是由于旅游船只的排放。)”可知,碳影响对南极是一个真正的问题,南极游客的人均碳排放量大约是一个人一整年的碳排放量总和;由此可知,对于南极不断增长的游客数量,首要担忧的是前往南极旅行所产生的碳排放。故选D项。
40.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段““As a researcher, it’s a moral decision that I make every time I go, whether what I’m doing is worth the impact,” said a professor, who says tourists should also weigh up the consequences.(一位教授说:‘为一名研究人员,我每次去都要做一个道德上的决定,看看我所做的事情是否值得。’他还说,游客也应该权衡后果。)”以及最后一段““If your motivation is simply because you have stepped on six continents already and you want to step on the seventh — personally I think that’s a fairly silly reason.”(‘如果你的动机仅仅是因为你已经踏上了六大洲,而你想踏上第七大洲——我个人认为这是一个相当愚蠢的理由。’)”
Antarctic Tourism: Should We Just Say No?(南极旅游:我们应该说不吗?)
Passage 12
As a primary school kid, Armand almost grew up at the campsite with his family. Every holiday, they’d spend a month and a half camping at Leentjiesklip in Langebaan. This is where Armand developed his love for camping. With this camping seed planted so early, he was always curious to explore other places.
Three years after graduating from school, Armand bought his first bakkie (箱式轻便货车), a Toyota Cab. Besides camping, Armand also enjoys driving through scenic landscapes. He does this regularly to satisfy his desire to be in nature.
His love of nature means he avoids busy places and settles down in quieter places. However, he doesn’t mind if he comes across someone out in the middle of nowhere; they’re likely to share the same interests.
Verneukpan, now one of Armand’s favourite camping sites, was next on the schedule — a route that would finally take him past Augrabies, Vioolsdrif, the Richtersveld and Port Nolloth. Armand’s journeys aren’t carefully planned. He simply sets daily goals and refuses the usual routes. “Nothing stops you from hitting the road nice and early. Explore the world and enrich your journey instead of following a preplanned route.”
Although Armand mostly camps alone, he’s not completely alone. His sheepdog, Buks, goes along. Buks, Armand’s campsite commander, has a specially-fitted seat on the back seat of the bakkie. When Armand arrives at his destination for the day, he grabs a beer and takes a walk with Buks to explore the surroundings. The camping chairs follow, and then Armand takes in the scenery. “Camping in nature is the perfect escape because it provides peace while refreshing your soul,” says Armand.
42.What made Armand fall in love with camping?
A.His wonderful primary school time.
B.The seed he planted at the campsite as a kid.
C.His curiosity to explore other amazing places.
D.The great camping experiences with his family.
43.What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A.Going camping. B.Buying the bakkie.
C.Graduating from school. D.Driving through scenic landscapes.
44.Which of the following can best describe Armand?
A.Quiet and organized. B.Peaceful and careful.
C.Curious and courageous. D.Helpful and interesting.
45.What might be the best title for the passage?

Passage 13
(24-25高二下·江苏南京·开学考试)In recent years, a new trend has emerged among young travelers in Japan who are increasingly opting for “off-the-beaten-path” destinations instead of flocking to famous tourist spots. This phenomenon, known as counter-tourism, is gaining popularity as it offers tourists a chance to explore quieter and less commercialized areas.
Data from a major online travel agency reveals that bookings for accommodations in lesser-known towns increased by 25% year-on-year during the holiday season. Moreover, reservations for boutique hotels in these locations surged by at least fivefold. Lesser-known attractions saw significant growth, with some reporting over 20% more visitors compared to the previous year. For example, the serene countryside of Shimane Prefecture welcomed approximately 30,000 visitors over seven days, marking a 17% increase year-over-year.
Travelers are choosing these quieter locales not only to avoid crowded places but also to enjoy lower costs and experience genuine local culture. In contrast to popular tourist hotspots, which can be overly commercialized, these hidden gems offer more authentic experiences and natural encounters. Additionally, changes in travel preferences reflect a growing desire among tourists for deeper relaxation and meaningful engagement with their surroundings.
The ongoing impact of environmental concerns and sustainability efforts also plays a role in this shift. Travelers are becoming more conscious of their ecological footprint and prefer destinations that promote sustainable tourism practices. As a result, they are more likely to choose eco-friendly accommodations and activities.
An editorial in the Tokyo Times noted that the rise of counter-tourism could have positive implications for both tourists and the industry. It encourages diversity in travel options and forces traditional tourist hubs to innovate and improve their offerings. More importantly, it helps distribute economic benefits more evenly across different regions.
Professor Sato, a tourism expert, suggests that to fully capitalize on this trend, greater emphasis should be placed on developing unique local experiences and promoting lesser-known cultural heritage sites. Highlighting regional traditions and fostering community involvement are key strategies for enhancing the appeal of off-the-beaten-path destinations.

根据第二段“Data from a major online travel agency reveals that bookings for accommodations in lesser-known towns increased by 25% year-on-year during the holiday season.
根据第三段中“Travelers are choosing these quieter locales not only to avoid crowded places but also to enjoy lower costs and experience genuine local culture. (旅行者选择这些较为安静的地方,不仅是为了避开拥挤的场所,也是为了享受更低的成本并体验真正的当地文化)”和“Additionally, changes in travel preferences reflect a growing desire among tourists for deeper relaxation and meaningful engagement with their surroundings. Passage 14
Tourism is back, at last. This year the number of trips abroad is expected to overtake levels reached in 2019. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) predicts that this year will see more overseas trips and higher traveler spending than in 2019. The return of mass tourism has caused strikes in Western hotspots such as Barcelona and Majorca. Talk to a hotel manager or a travel agent, though, and the real action is further east.
Travel to Asia had been slower to recover from the covid-19 pandemic than in the West, due to extended quarantine (隔离) rules from China to Malaysia, keeping the number of tourists down. Now, however, business on the continent is reviving. The number of travellers arriving in Asian countries is set to jump by a third this year, according to the WTTC, more than in any other region.
Westerners are turning up in large groups. The number of trips Americans took to Asia doubled last year. The value of dollar, which has increased strongly against Asian currencies (货币), is part of the explanation. Catherine Heald, the boss of Remote Lands, a travel agency for the rich, notes bookings for diving in Indonesia, temple visits in Japan, and food tours in Thailand.
The range of destinations and activities is widening. Wealthy tourists can travel aboard the recently redeveloped Eastern & Oriental Express through Singapore and Malaysia, run by Belmond, the hotels business of LVMH, a French luxury giant. Over 500,000 hotel rooms were under construction across Asia as of June, up by over 4% from last year. Getting to Asia is also becoming easier, with home-grown and Western airlines increasing the number of flights to and from the continent. British Airways, for instance, is relaunching flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.
The biggest boost to Asian tourism, though, is coming from the region’s own travellers. Chinese consumers have begun to holiday abroad again, with international trips predicted to double this year compared with 2023, according to Oxford Economics, a research firm. Even then, the number of trips will be below pre-pandemic levels, leaving plenty of room for growth.
50.Why does the author mention strikes in Western hotspots?
A.To introduce tourism recovery in Asia. B.To explain the challenge in Western.
C.To compare different tourism cultures. D.To show tourism's massive impact.
51.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Dollar value alone doubled trips to Asia.
B.Travel will fully return to pre-pandemic levels.
C.Asia took quarantine measures earlier than the west.
D.Asia is making efforts to accommodate more visitors.
52.What does “boost” underlined in the last paragraph refer to?
A.Influence. B.Assistance. C.Increase. D.Value.
53.Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A.Asian Tourism: A Slow Recovery B.The Tourism Rise Returns to Asia
C.Tourism Trends in the Post-Pandemic Era D.Western Tourism: Opportunities and Challenges

根据第四段的“Over 500,000 hotel rooms were under construction across Asia as of June, up by over 4% from last year. Getting to Asia is also becoming easier, with home-grown and Western airlines increasing the number of flights to and from the continent.(截至 6 月,亚洲各地有超过 50 万间酒店客房在建,比去年增长超过 4%。抵达亚洲也变得更加容易,本土和西方航空公司都在增加往返亚洲大陆的航班数量)”可推知,亚洲正在建设更多的酒店客房,并增加往返亚洲的航班数量。由此推知,亚洲正在努力容纳更多的游客。故选D。
52.词句猜测题。根据划线词下文“Chinese consumers have begun to holiday abroad again, with international trips predicted to double this year compared with 2023, according to Oxford Economics, a research firm.(研究公司牛津经济研究院表示,中国消费者再次开始出国度假,预计今年的国际旅行将比2023年翻一番)”可知,亚洲游客数量大幅增加,所以对亚洲旅游业最大的推动力来自该地区自己的游客。
通读全段,尤其是文章第一段“The return of mass tourism has caused strikes in Western hotspots such as Barcelona and Majorca. Talk to a hotel manager or a travel agent, though, and the real action is further east.(大众旅游的回归在巴塞罗那和马略卡岛等西方热门旅游地引发了罢工。然而,与酒店经理或旅行社交谈,你会发现真正的旅游热潮在更东边)”以及第二段的“Now, however, business on the continent is reviving. The number of travellers arriving in Asian countries is set to jump by a third this year, according to the WTTC, more than in any other region.(然而,现在亚洲大陆的商业正在复苏。根据WTTC的数据,今年抵达亚洲国家的游客数量将增加三分之一,超过其他任何地区)”可知,文章主要介绍了亚洲旅游业在后疫情时代的复苏情况。由此可知,B选项“旅游业回升重返亚洲”最符合文章标题。故选B。

55.推理判断题。根据第三段“During the trip, she rubbed elbows with the locals. A group of youngsters struck up conversations, took photos and waved goodbye as they parted ways on opposite sides of the road. At a pastry shop, kind strangers offered to translate the menu when they noticed the group’s difficulty in reading it.(在旅行中,她与当地人有了接触。

下文中的“Here are some advantages of traveling alone.(这是独自旅行的一些优势)”可知独自旅行也有一些好处。
本段内容“If you travel alone, you are the boss of yourself. You can do things according to your own timetable. You can decide freely whenever you go, wherever you visit and whichever transport you take. You don’t need to wait for your partners. You can decide how long you stay at a place and which hotel you live in. Traveling alone gives you more freedom in making decisions.(如果你一个人旅行,那么你就是自己的老板。你可以根据自己的时间表来做事。无论何时访问,无论采用何种交通方式,你都可以自由决定。你无需等待你的伙伴。你可以决定待在一个地方和住酒店多长时间。独自旅行可以使你更加自由做出决定)”主要是介绍独自旅行有更多的自由,A项“有更多的自由”能概括本段内容,故选A项。
3.此段的小标题是“Gaining more confidence, strength and learning new skills(获得更多自信,力量和技能)” 。 切题,“when traveling on your own”与上文中的“When you travel alone”句式一致,故选G项。

5.根据本段小标题“Finding out your shortcomings(发现你的不足)”以及句子“Traveling alone is a great chance for you to discover your disadvantages.(独自旅行是发现自己不足的好机会)”说明了独自旅行能帮助你认识到自己的不足。
Passage 2

Budget accordingly.
When planning your group tour, budgeting is an important factor, as these trips are rarely all-inclusive (包含一切的). 7 Extra costs on a group tour could include meals, attractions and additional activities, so please factor potential costs in.
8
Yasa advised against skipping between different destinations, as strict time limits could prevent you from participating in back to back tours. “If the distances or time between destinations are not listed, turn to Google Maps to know how long you’re expected to be on the road.”
Don’t arrive at the last minute.
If you’re in a group tour, don’t leave home until the day when the tour sets off. “The worst is missing a connecting flight or experiencing delays. 9 ” Yasa said. “Remember to arrive the day before at the very latest and give yourself a little extra free time at the tail end.”
Keep some cash on hand.
While most of your tour should already be paid for before you start, you should always prepare some cash. Especially when travelling to more remote locations, or visiting smaller food stands or markets, you shouldn’t assume everywhere will take card payments. Yasa said, “ 10 ”
A.Know your geography.
B.Try to attend every trip.
C.It’s a good choice to exchange goods.
D.It’s better to have some cash on you at all times.
E.You may miss the first or two of the tour you’ve paid for.
F.Add up all the extra costs until you arrive at your real figure.
G.However, there are always things to handle before booking your trip.
【答案】6.G 7.F 8.A 9.E 10.D
6.前文“When it comes to travelling abroad, many people choose a group tour to get the most out of their holiday. (说到出国旅游,许多人选择跟团旅游来最大限度地利用他们的假期)”提到出国旅游时很多人选择跟团旅游,表明这样有充分利用假期的好处,后文“Thankfully, travel expert Dilvin Yasa has shared tips for that. (值得庆幸的是,旅游专家Dilvin Yasa分享了这方面的建议)”提到一名旅游专家分享了建议,空处应该与跟团旅游存在的问题相关,因此G项“However, there are always things to handle before booking your trip. (然而,在预订旅行之前,总有一些事情需要处理)”符合语境,指出预订旅行前也有事务需处理,和前文构成转折,引出后文的建议。故选G。
7.前文“When planning your group tour, budgeting is an important factor, as these trips are rarely all-inclusive (包含一切的). (当计划你的团体旅游时,预算是一个重要因素,因为这些旅行很少是全包的)”指出计划团体旅游需考虑预算,后文“Extra costs on a group tour could include meals, attractions and additional activities, so please factor potential costs in. (团体旅游的额外费用可能包括餐饮、景点和额外的活动,所以请考虑潜在的费用)”说明额外费用具体包括哪些,空处应该是建议计算预计的额外费用,因此F项“Add up all the extra costs until you arrive at your real figure. (把所有额外费用加起来,直到你得出你的实际数字为止)”符合语境,承前启后,其中的extra costs在后文有同词复现。故选F。
8.后文“Yasa advised against skipping between different destinations, as strict time limits could prevent you from participating in back to back tours. “If the distances or time between destinations are not listed, turn to Google Maps to know how long you’re expected to be on the road.” 故选A。
9.前文“The worst is missing a connecting flight or experiencing delays. (最糟糕的情况是错过转机或遇到延误)”提到错过转机或遇到延误的糟糕情况,空处依旧是Yasa所说的话,应该与这些糟糕情况的后果有关,因此E项“You may miss the first or two of the tour you’ve paid for. (你可能会错过你已经付过钱的前一两个行程)”符合语境,表明这样会错过行程,承接前文。故选E。
10.前文“Especially when travelling to more remote locations, or visiting smaller food stands or markets, you shouldn’t assume everywhere will take card payments. (特别是当你去偏远的地方旅行,或者去较小的小吃摊或市场时,你不应该认为所有地方都接受信用卡支付)”指出有些地方可能无法用信用卡支付,空处是Yasa所说的话,位于段末,应该是给出应对这种情况的建议:随身携带现金,因此D项“It’s better to have some cash on you at all times. (随身带点现金比较好)”符合语境,承接前文。故选D。
Passage 3
While travelling alone can be an enlightening experience, it can be incredibly overwhelming to leave home and head into the big wide world with just you and your backpack. 11
But what kind of person should we anticipate?
A person with opposite characteristics may increase the enjoyment of your trip’s duration. My best friend and I are far too alike. We love the same food, music and both love to travel.
12 We both hate making decisions and are poor with money. This is a recipe for disaster. My travel partner, on the other hand, is the total opposite of me. He loves to plan and budgets are his best friend. This is why we make such a great travel team.
13 You will make memories and share experiences that will last a lifetime. However, travelling the world together won’t be sun-kissed days and picture-perfect moments all the time. There will be flight delays, homesickness…even actual sickness. To resolve them quickly and fairly, you two need to be on the same wavelength. Put more simply, it’s important to find a travel buddy who communicates openly.
Although I’ve enjoyed traveling with my partner for over a decade, I can admit that friendship fatigue (疲劳) is real. You will long for some alone time eventually as it is tiring spending 24/7 with another human, regardless of how much you love and respect him/her. 14 Make sure you find a travel buddy who understands this.
With a travel companion, not only will you save money but it is beneficial to share travel stories and have a familiar face as you travel into the unknown. 15 A travel buddy and personal photographer all in one!
A.Love and respect go a long way.
B.We are terrible travel companions, nevertheless.
C.Also, who else will take those natural photos for you?
D.A travel companion might make a world of difference.
E.A significant key to travelling together is communication.
F.That’s why we need to give it a second thought before travelling.
G.Alone time is healthy and very much critical for your mental well-being.
11.根据前文“While travelling alone can be an enlightening experience, it can be incredibly overwhelming to leave home and head into the big wide world with just you and your backpack.(虽然独自旅行可以是一种启发性的经历,但离开家,只带着你和你的背包进入广阔的世界,可能会让人难以置信地不知所措)”提出了独自旅行的不知所措,那么设空句应提出解决方法。选项D“A travel companion might make a world of difference.(一个旅伴可能会使世界大为不同)”提出了解决方法“一个旅伴”,且与后文“But what kind of person should we anticipate?(但是我们应该期待什么样的人呢?)”
12.分析前后语境可知,设空前文“My best friend and I are far too alike. We love the same food, music and both love to travel.(我最好的朋友和我太像了。我们喜欢同样的食物,音乐,都喜欢旅行)”与设空后文“We both hate making decisions and are poor with money. This is a recipe for disaster.(我们都讨厌做决定,而且都很穷。这是一场灾难)”构成了转折关系,因此可推知,设空句应是一个转折句,且在句意上承前启后,即,是好朋友,但不是好旅伴。选项B“We are terrible travel companions, nevertheless.(然而,我们是糟糕的旅伴)”在句意上与前文构成转折,又呼应了后文内容。故选B项。
13.设空句为该段首句,应是主题句。根据末尾句内容“Put more simply, it’s important to find a travel buddy who communicates openly.(更简单地说,重要的是要找到一个能坦诚交流的旅行伙伴)”强调了“坦诚交流的伙伴”可推知,该段的主题是与旅伴的交流很重要。选项E“A significant key to travelling together is communication.(一起旅行的一个重要关键是沟通)”符合分析,可作为该段首句。故选E项。
14.根据前文“You will long for some alone time eventually as it is tiring spending 24/7 with another human, regardless of how much you love and respect him/her.(你最终会渴望一段独处的时间,因为与另一个人全天候相处很累,无论你多么爱他/她,多么尊重他/她)”提出“即使有旅伴,也需要独处时间”,由此推知,设空句应解释为什么需要独处。选项G“Alone time is healthy and very much critical for your mental well-being.(独处时间是健康的,对你的心理健康非常重要)”解释了独处的重要性,与前文在内容上衔接紧密。故选G项。
15.根据后文“A travel buddy and personal photographer all in one!(集旅行伙伴和私人摄影师于一体!)” C“Also, who else will take those natural photos for you?(还有谁会为你拍这些自然照片?)”
Passage 4
(24-25高二上·江西新余·期末)Some of the best road trips are unplanned. You simply grab a few items, jump in a car and set off. However, this approach involves some risk. 16 That’s why the first rule of road trip planning is to bring along whatever you might need to have fun. Some food, a guitar, and a cooler full of drinks can go a long way.
Planning a road trip can be almost as fun as the trip itself. Some well-designed travel guides may be of great help. 17 For the logically-minded, the management of speed, fuel, accommodation and timing details can present a rewarding journey.
18 Highways make it possible to drive across an entire country without seeing anything or meeting anyone. The more you skip freeways in favor of scenic highways, the more you’re likely to get out of your trip.
Once you’ve figured out your plan roughly, fill in the details, and bear in mind that maps and satellite navigation systems are not always up to date. 19 Remember, the more you prepare now, the better equipped you’ll be if you decide to change your trip later or have to deal with an unforeseen problem.
Booking accommodation and having backup plans can make or break a trip, especially if you want to visit some remote byways with limited accommodation opportunities. 20 In some areas, especially the American West, gas stations can be a hundred miles away.
A.You can find this information online.
B.You may end up in a boring part of town.
C.It’s good to take an emergency phone with you.
D.A quick look through them can fuel your inspiration.
E.Research as much as possible and cross-reference your sources.
F.When planning your route, consider what kinds of roads to take

48.How does the Tokyo Times view counter-tourism?
A.It will decline as environmental concerns diminish.
B.It benefits both tourists and the tourism market.
C.It enhances the spread of local culture to tourists.
D.It hinders the development of popular tourist spots.
49.According to Professor Sato, what advice is given for developing the tourism market?
A.Improving infrastructure in tourist areas.
B.Enhancing management rules for tourist attractions.
C.Exploring the potential and uniqueness of lesser-known attractions.
D.Promoting local characteristics through social media
Passage 15
When Chen Dan gazed upon the Pyramid of Khafre and the Great Sphinx, she felt the pages of history textbooks come to life.
In the Sahara, she enjoyed a peaceful and secluded afternoon, riding in a vehicle at high speeds through the desert known as dune enjoying the sunset, disconnecting from the world as her mobile phone had no signal. Passage 2
When it comes to travelling abroad, many people choose a group tour to get the most out of their holiday. 6 Thankfully, travel expert Dilvin Yasa has shared tips for that.

G.However, there are always things to handle before booking your trip.

G.Alone time is healthy and very much critical for your mental well-being.
F.When planning your route, consider what kinds of roads to take
G.Also, be sure to investigate fuel availability where you’re headed.
Passage 5
(24-25高二上·江苏南通·期末)A trip’s preparations can be both thrilling and challenging. Planning beforehand is crucial to ensuring a smooth and enjoyable trip, whether you’re planning a family vacation or a solo adventure. 21 These actions will help you to maximize your vacation experience and reduce any extra stress along the road.
The first step in planning any trip is to decide on your destination and the period of your stay. 22 You also need to take into account factors such as climate, local culture and safety. Once you have chosen a destination, determine how long you intend to stay.
Establishing a budget (预算) is crucial for planning a trip. Evaluate your financial condition and determine how much you can comfortably spend. 23 It’s essential to be realistic about your budget to avoid overspending and unnecessary financial stress during your trip.
24 Research various options, such as hotels, hostels, vacation rentals, or even local guesthouses, based on your budget and preferences. Consider factors such as location, facilities, safety, and customer reviews. Employ online booking platforms to compare prices and make reservations in advance to secure the best deals.
Having a planned route can help you make the most of your time and ensure you don’t miss out on must-see attractions or activities. Research the top sights, landmarks, and experiences in your chosen destination, prioritize your activities based on your personal preferences and create a flexible plan on a daily basis. 25
A.This depends on your interests and purse.
B.Keep in mind public transportation for convenience.
C.Cultural events are your first choice on your schedule.
D.You can use travel apps to get an estimate of the overall cost.
E.Finding suitable accommodation is a vital aspect of trip planning.
F.Allow for halfway breaks and unexpected discoveries along the way.
G.Here we’ll guide you through several stages to help plan your vacation.
