①Did you know that when you surf the web, websites in some countries put secret software on your computer? The software collects a large amount of information about you and sends it to internet companies. The Internet companies sell it to other businesses. Your personal information can also be gathered from social media sites. There are many ways your information can be used.
②First, companies collect your information and record all your online habits. They find out where you live, what websites you visit and what you do online. With this information, they can guess other things about you. For example, they can guess if you are a male or female, how old you are and your interests. The companies use this information to decide which ads are best for you. Two people can go to the same website, but they will see different ads. For example, someone who likes sports could see ads for trainers, and someone who likes films might see ads for a film.
③Your personal information could also be sold. Some companies collect information, so they can sell it to other businesses. A business that collects and sells personal information is called a data broker. When data brokers sell your information, a lot of different companies will know your online habits. Then the companies will advertise products from other websites to you.
④Another way your personal information can be collected is through social media. When your information is on social media, a lot of people can see it. Even if you don’t use social media, a friend might post a picture or video of you with your name on it. Pictures and videos can be shared for free on social media, which is one of the great advantages. However, that same act of sharing could be a problem for your own security (安全). If someone knows too much about you, they steal (偷窃) your identity. Then they can buy things online and post messages while pretending (假装) to be you.
⑤_________. The law is finally changing when it comes to technology. In the European Union, for example, they have introduced the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This rule means that internet users can now ask companies to show them what information they have about them and even make them delete it. If other countries do the same, the internet could soon be a much safer place.
41. According to Paragraph 2, what will the companies find by collecting your information?
a. age and hobbies b. online activities c. address d. job
A. b. c. d. B. a. b. d. C. a. c. d. D. a. b. c.

B. No one can get your information if your friend posts a video of you with your name on it.
C. According to GDPR, we can ask companies to delete our personal information they have collected online.
D. Different people can see different ads on the same website because their online habits have been gathered.
44. Which sentence is the most suitable for the beginning of the last paragraph?

阅读下面短文,根据所读内容,在文后表格空白处填入一个最恰当的单词。注意:每空只填一个单词。
On buses, in meeting rooms, wherever we are, we see people looking at their mobile phones. Smart phones are so important that they are becoming irreplaceable (不可替代的). As we depend too much on technology, not on our brains, it seems that we are losing our smartness. Many people have lost three basic skills as a result.
The first skill many people have lost is remembering phone numbers. Because phone numbers are stored in smart phone contacts, there’s now no need to dial (拨打) a number or look at it again. As a result, we can’t contact others without our phones.
And some of us may also have lost our sense of direction because some apps can guide us anywhere we want to go. We get so dependent on them that when we can’t use our smart phones, we lose our way.
But the worst lost skills may be social ones, meaning that some people are becoming socially useless. We often lose ourselves in our smart phones and we don’t pay any attention to the people and things around. So some of us have lost conversational (对话的) skills and sometimes can’t even tell whether a person is happy or not.
Some researchers studied 51 students aged 13 and 19 who had over five hours’ screen time every day. Their task is to tell the emotions (情感) of 48 pictures of faces that were happy, sad, angry or scared. The children made an average (平均) of 14.02 mistakes at the beginning. But after a five-day camp without electronic products (电子产品), they made only 9.41 mistakes on average.
Luckily, there are ways to help us get these abilities back. We should try to remember our parents’ numbers. We should also look at street signs and shops, and it will help us to draw a mind map and stop us from losing our way. And the easiest solution is to take a break from electronic products from time to time.
Are smart phones really good?
The ____56____ why we lose our smartness
We can see people looking at their mobile phone ____57____.
Smart phones become so important that we depend too much on them ____58____ of our brains.
The three skills that we have lost
Remembering phone numbers

The sense of direction
Some apps can ____60____ us to the place we want to go to. Without smart phones, we may get ____61____.
Conversational ability
We often lose ourselves in our smart phones and pay ____62____ attention to the people and things around, ____63____ we are becoming socially useless.
The ways to help you get those skills back
Try to remember your parents’ phone numbers.
Look at street signs and shops, and it will be ____64____ for us to draw a mind map and stop you from losing your way.
____65____ a break from electronic products is the easiest solution.
