Here are four science research competitions designed for high schoolers. Breakthrough Junior Challenge The Breakthrough Junior Challenge tasks students with creating a short two-minute video in which they explain a complex scientific concept and demonstrate how it works in practice. Awards include a $250,000 college scholarship, and a $50,000 award to a teacher of the winner’s choosing. Eye on the Future Teen Video Contest Participants are tasked with creating a video between 30 seconds and three minutes long, either on their own or in teams of up to three members. Winners receive a paid trip to the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair This competition is the world’s largest international pre-college STEM competition. Students showcase independent research and compete across 22 categories for awards ranging from $500 to $75,000. This is not a group-based competition — individual students sign up for local school science fairs before advancing to upper-level competitions. American Academy of Neurology Neuroscience Research Prize This competition challenges students to investigate problems regarding the brain or nervous system. It is only open to individual students — group projects are excluded. Winners receive a monetary prize and the chance to present their projects at the AAN Annual Meeting. 1. What is the aim of the competitions? A. To ensure admission to college. B. To fuel the passion for science. C. To excel in high school exams. D. To select outstanding talents. 2. What do the first two competitions have in common? A. Winners will receive a paid trip. B. The participants need to team up. C. Presentation of a video is a must. D. The winner’s teacher will be awarded. 3. Which competition might attract participants interested in medicine? A. Breakthrough Junior Challenge. B. Eye on the Future Teen Video Contest. C. Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair. D. American Academy of Neurology Neuroscience Research Prize. B 2. C 3. 根据第一段中“Participating in a science research competition as a high schooler can allow you to explore one of your passions, making you a more competitive candidate during the college admissions process.(作为一名高中生参加科学研究竞赛可以让你探索你的一个爱好,使你在大学录取过程中成为一个更有竞争力的候选人)”可知,参加科学研究竞赛可以让高中生探索自己的兴趣和激情;由此可知,竞赛的目的是激发学生对科学的热情。 根据“Breakthrough Junior Challenge”部分中“The Breakthrough Junior Challenge tasks students with creating a short two-minute video in which they explain a complex scientific concept and demonstrate how it works in practice.(Breakthrough Junior Challenge要求学生制作一个简短的两分钟视频,在视频中解释一个复杂的科学概念,并演示它在实际中是如何工作的)”以及“Eye on the Future Teen Video Contest”部分中“Participants are tasked with creating a video between 30 seconds and three minutes long, either on their own or in teams of up to three members.(参与者需要独自或最多三人一组制作一段30秒到3分钟的视频)”可知,前两个比赛的共同点是必须提交视频。 根据“American Academy of Neurology Neuroscience Research Prize”部分中“This competition challenges students to investigate problems regarding the brain or nervous system. It is only open to individual students — group projects are excluded. Winners receive a monetary prize and the chance to present their projects at the AAN Annual Meeting.(这项比赛挑战学生调查有关大脑或神经系统的问题。它只对单个学生开放,不包括团体项目。获胜者将获得奖金,并有机会在AAN年会上展示他们的项目)”可知这项比赛挑战学生调查有关大脑或神经系统的问题,可推理出美国神经科学院神经科学研究奖(American Academy of Neurology Neuroscience Research Prize)可能会吸引对医学感兴趣的参与者。故选D。 B Last year, my husband and I decided to make our 12-storey building more of a community. We live in a small rented apartment in Park Merced, a large housing development. I would call us lower-middle-class. A lot of nurses, bus drivers, and tradesmen live here, many of them 1st or 2nd generation immigrants (移民). We’re all renters. Renters come and go and tend not to see the buildings they live in as their home. But it can be done. We started with a monthly two-hour social in the building lobby on the second Fridays of each month. Some people came, between 15-30 each time. The events lasted two hours, but there wasn’t much to do besides talking, eating snacks and drinking juice. The socials were nice, but most residents gave them a miss. Then one day I was on the nearby campus of San Francisco State University. A young man from a social club for students had a big sign about “Building Community”. I asked him, “How do you do that?” He said they tried to get people to share something about themselves with at least one other person. That made a lot of sense to me. I bought a large world map. At the social, I taped it on the lobby wall with signs that said “Where We’re From. Put a green sticker where you were born and yellow stickers where your grandparents were born.” People put up their stickers and looked where other people came from. We left the map up overnight, and the next day, Saturday, more people played. I planned to leave the map and stickers up for a month or more. They certainly made the lobby more interesting than the housing project look it usually has. I see that there will be challenges, but I also know that a strong community will help us live good lives. I have the time and energy to do this work. 4. What trouble did the author have building a community? A. The community was poor. B. She lacked enough money. C. Renters had no sense of belonging. D. Her neighbors were all immigrants. 5. How did the author find her earlier events? A. Fruitful. B. Ordinary. C. Inspiring. D. Messy. 6. What did the author do in order to change the socials? A. Sharing friendly stickers. B. Adding foods and drinks. C. Adopting a sharing game. D. Asking some neighbors for help. 7. Which of the following best describes the author? A. Insightful and determined. B. Responsible and strict. C. Demanding and ambitious. D. Knowledgeable and modest. C 5. B 6. C 7. 根据第二段中“We’re all renters. Renters come and go and tend not to see the buildings they live in as their home. (我们都是租客。租客来来去去,往往不把他们居住的建筑当作自己的家)”可知,租客没有归属感,这是作者建立社区时遇到的麻烦。故选C项。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“The events lasted two hours, but there wasn’t much to do besides talking, eating snacks and drinking juice. The socials were nice, but most residents gave them a miss.(活动持续了两个小时,但除了聊天、吃零食和喝果汁之外,没有什么可做的。社交活动很好,但大多数居民都没有参加)”可推知,作者认为早期的活动虽然不错,但参与度不高,效果普通。故选B项。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“He said they tried to get people to share something about themselves with at least one other person. That made a lot of sense to me. (他说他们试图让人们和至少另一个人分享关于自己的事情。这对我来说很有意义)”和第四段中“I bought a large world map. At the social, I taped it on the lobby wall with signs that said ‘Where We’re From. Put a green sticker where you were born and yellow stickers where your grandparents were born.’ People put up their stickers and looked where other people came from.(我买了一张大的世界地图。在社交活动上,我把它贴在大厅的墙上,上面写着“我们来自哪里。在你出生的地方贴上绿色的贴纸,在你祖父母出生的地方贴上黄色的贴纸。”人们张贴自己的贴纸,也会看看其他人来自哪里)”可知,作者为了改变社交活动,采用了分享游戏,让大家分享自己的出生地信息。故选C项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“He said they tried to get people to share something about themselves with at least one other person. That made a lot of sense to me. (他说他们试图让人们和至少另一个人分享关于自己的事情。这对我来说很有意义)”可知,作者从年轻人那里获得启发并想出用地图和贴纸让大家分享信息的办法,可看出作者有洞察力(insightful);根据最后一段中“I see that there will be challenges, but I also know that a strong community will help us live good lives. I have the time and energy to do this work. (我知道会有挑战,但我也知道一个强大的社区会帮助我们过上美好的生活。我有时间和精力做这项工作)”可知,作者面对挑战仍决心做好建立社区的工作,很有决心(determined)。故选A项。 C There’s a whiteboard on the refrigerator in the du Plessises’ kitchen the couple uses to plan dinners. But with two young children, full-time jobs and the nearest supermarket 20 minutes away, figuring out what to eat can sometimes be challenging. To lighten the load, Mr. du Plessis regularly uses a grocery delivery service and meal kits (半成品净菜) are their favorites. America’s appetite for online grocery sales rocketed more than 50%, from $62 billion in 2019 to $96 billion in 2020, according to the Food and Drug Administration. One in five consumers now has groceries delivered to their door at least once a month. Meanwhile, there’s been a steep increase in demand for restaurant takeout. Meal kits which come with premeasured ingredients are also experiencing strong growth. As food production and transportation make up as much as 1/3 of a typical US household’s annual contribution to climate change-inducing emissions, such a trend in food industry arouse some concerns. “It’s crossed my mind,” Mr. du Plessis says about the environmental impact. “Unfortunately, it’s one of those things like Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. It’s like we have to meet our basic needs before we can be concerned about the bigger picture.” In 2022, researchers from the University of Michigan modeled a single 36-item grocery cart to compare greenhouse emissions from an e-commerce grocery delivery and a traditional trip to the store to get the same items. They found that using an electric vehicle to pick up groceries could cut emissions by as much as half, compared to a gas-powered vehicle. They also found that home delivery could be an even better option. That’s because with a delivery vehicle, orders are often clustered, with a driver dropping off not just your groceries, but also hitting neighbors during the same run. While some might worry about more waste and carbon foot print that meal kits cause, a 2019 study conducted by Shelie Miller from the University of Michigan found that, comparatively, meal kits could be one of the best options for lower greenhouse gas emissions. The meal kits “did have more packaging overall and more impact associated with that packaging,” Miller says. “But what we really saw was that the meal kits had more efficient use of food.” On average, the greenhouse gas emissions for a meal made with ingredients purchased at a grocery store are 33% higher than a comparable prepackaged kit, the study found. 8. Why does the author mention Mr. du Plessis’ kitchen? A. To reach a conclusion. B. To stress a social problem. C. To call on healthy diets. D. To introduce the topic. 9. What concern comes along with the rise of food delivery? A. Poor goods quality. B. Environmental impact. C. Commercial disorder. D. Jammed transportation. 10. What does the underlined word “clustered” in paragraph 4 probably mean? A. Grouped together. B. Separated individually. C. Delivered randomly. D. Packed tightly. 11. What does Miller’s research indicate? A. Meal kits are delicately packaged. B. Meal kits help with cooking skills. C. Meal kits are efficient in cooking. D. Meal kits comparatively waste less. D 9. B 10. A 11. 根据第一段“There’s a whiteboard on the refrigerator in the du Plessises’ kitchen the couple uses to plan dinners. But with two young children, full time jobs and the nearest supermarket 20 minutes away, figuring out what to eat can sometimes be challenging. To lighten the load, Mr. du Plessis regularly uses a grocery delivery service and meal kits (半成品净菜) are their favorites.(杜普莱西夫妇厨房的冰箱上有一块白板,他们用它来计划晚餐。但由于有两个年幼的孩子、全职工作,而且最近的超市也在20分钟车程之外,有时决定吃什么会很有挑战性。为了减轻负担,杜普莱西先生经常使用食品杂货配送服务,而半成品净菜是他们的最爱)”和第二段中“America’s appetite for online grocery sales rocketed more than 50%, from $62 billion in 2019 to $96 billion in 2020, according to the Food and Drug Administration. One in five consumers now has groceries delivered to their door at least once a month. Meanwhile, there’s been a steep increase in demand for restaurant takeout.(美国食品和药物管理局的数据显示,美国人对在线杂货销售的兴趣飙升了50%以上,从2019年的620亿美元飙升至2020年的960亿美元。现在,五分之一的消费者每月至少有一次食品杂货送货上门。与此同时,对餐馆外卖的需求急剧增加)”可推知,作者提到杜普莱西先生的厨房,是为了引出后文关于美国在线食品杂货销售和外卖兴起这一话题。故选D项。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“As food production and transportation make up as much as 1/3 of a typical US household’s annual contribution to climate change inducing emissions, such a trend in food industry arouse some concerns.(由于食品生产和运输在一个典型美国家庭每年导致气候变化的排放中所占比例高达三分之一,食品行业的这种趋势引发了一些担忧)”和第三段中“‘It’s crossed my mind,’ Mr. du Plessis says about the environmental impact.(“我想过这个问题,”杜普莱西先生谈到环境影响时说)可知,食品配送兴起带来的担忧是对环境的影响。故选B项。 【10题详解】 词句猜测题。结合常识和划线词所在句“That’s because with a delivery vehicle, orders are often clustered, with a driver dropping off not just your groceries, but also hitting neighbors during the same run.(这是因为使用配送车辆时,订单通常……,司机在一次行程中不仅会送你的食品杂货,还会给邻居送货)”中“not just your groceries, but also hitting neighbors during the same run”可推知,使用车辆配送可以将很多订单集中在一起处理,在给你送货的同时也可以给邻居送货。由此推知,划线词clustered意思是订单被“集中在一起”,与“Grouped together(聚集在一起)”意思相近。故选A项。 【11题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中Miller的话“But what we really saw was that the meal kits had more efficient use of food.(但我们真正看到的是,餐包对食物的利用更高效)”可知,米勒的研究表明餐包对食物的利用更高效,换句话说,相对而言餐包浪费更少。故选D项。 D Have you ever suddenly developed an appetite from a brightly colored cheeseburger, or decided to step into a candy or ice cream store displaying a window full of lively shades and hues of sweet treats? If so, you are in good company. Unless we are medically instructed or strictly dieting, we are not likely to keep away from the attraction of the food by simply realizing its shortage of nutritional value. Devina Wadhera and Elizabeth D. Capaldi-Phillips in “A Review of Visual Cues Associated with Food” recognize the impact of sensory cues (信号) on food consumption and enjoyment, and the potential they have to encourage healthy eating behavior. They cite previous research in providing some interesting examples of the visual impact of different color schemes (方案) on appetite and food enjoyment. They note that pink food on a white plate is considered sweeter and more flavorful than the same food on a black plate. Apparently, we consume with more of our senses than we realize. So given the rainbow of colors around us when faced with so many appealing food choices, is there any way to control our appetite? Thankfully, some research says yes. Oliver Genschow proved that when it comes to eating less, colors impact consumption. They researched the effect of the color red and found that people ate fewer pretzels when using a red plate, as opposed to white or blue, and drank less from a red cup than a blue cup. They suggest that the color red reduces food and drink intake by functioning as a stop signal. But when it comes to healthy eating, instead of putting on a pair of sunglasses to block the attractive colors of food, consider the value of discipline. Healthy eating involves intentional choices, not mindless responses to sensory cues. And before you invest in red tableware to slim down, remember that what goes onto those plates is much more important. 12. What may be a major reason for us to refuse eye-catching food? A. Advertisements everywhere. B. The shortage of nutrition. C. The rich color of food display. D. The doctor’s instructions. 13. What might be dealt with in “A Review of Visual Cues Associated with Food”? A. Benefits of different color schemes. B. Interesting examples of food service. C. Potentials to encourage food consumption. D. Effects of sensory cues on food choices. 14. What does the author suggest people do in the last paragraph? A. Make proper food choices. B. Follow the sensory response. C. Avoid any colorful food. D. Wear sunglasses to block colors. 15. What is the best title for the text? A. Colors Help You Control Weight B. Color Schemes Make People Confused C. Colors Impact Food Attraction and Appetite D. The Rainbow of Colors Is the Best Seller 【答案】12. D 13. D 14. A 15. C 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了颜色对食物吸引力和食欲的影响。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中“Unless we are medically instructed or strictly dieting, we are not likely to keep away from the attraction of the food by simply realizing its shortage of nutritional value.(除非我们得到医学指导或严格节食,否则我们不太可能仅仅因为意识到食物缺乏营养价值就远离它的诱惑)”可知,我们拒绝引人注目的食物的主要原因可能是医生的指导。故选D。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“Devina Wadhera and Elizabeth D. Capaldi-Phillips in “A Review of Visual Cues Associated with Food” recognize the impact of sensory cues (信号) on food consumption and enjoyment, and the potential they have to encourage healthy eating behavior.(Devina Wadhera和Elizabeth D. Capaldi-Phillips在《与食物相关的视觉线索综述》中认识到感官信号对食物消费和享受的影响,以及它们鼓励健康饮食行为的潜力)”可知,“A Review of Visual Cues Associated with Food”可能会探讨感官信号对食物选择的影响。故选D。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Healthy eating involves intentional choices, not mindless responses to sensory cues. And before you invest in red tableware to slim down, remember that what goes onto those plates is much more important.(健康饮食需要有意的选择,而不是对感官线索的盲目反应。在你投资红色餐具来减肥之前,记住,放在这些盘子里的东西要重要得多)”可知健康饮食需要有意的选择,而不是对感官线索的盲目反应;可推知,作者在最后一段建议人们做出恰当的食物选择。故选A。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“Have you ever suddenly developed an appetite from a brightly colored cheeseburger, or decided to step into a candy or ice cream store displaying a window full of lively shades and hues of sweet treats? If so, you are in good company. Unless we are medically instructed or strictly dieting, we are not likely to keep away from the attraction of the food by simply realizing its shortage of nutritional value.(你有没有因为一个色彩鲜艳的奶酪汉堡而突然胃口大开,或者决定走进一家糖果店或冰淇淋店,橱窗里摆满了生动活泼、色彩斑斓的甜食?如果是这样,你并不孤单。除非我们得到医学指导或严格节食,否则我们不太可能仅仅因为意识到食物缺乏营养价值就远离它的诱惑)”、第二段“Devina Wadhera and Elizabeth D. Capaldi-Phillips in “A Review of Visual Cues Associated with Food” recognize the impact of sensory cues (信号) on food consumption and enjoyment, and the potential they have to encourage healthy eating behavior.(Devina Wadhera和Elizabeth D. Capaldi-Phillips在《与食物相关的视觉线索综述》中认识到感官线索对食物消费和享受的影响,以及它们鼓励健康饮食行为的潜力)”以及下文内容可知文章主要讲述了颜色对食物吸引力和食欲的影响。故C选项“Colors Impact Food Attraction and Appetite(颜色影响食物的吸引力和食欲)”能够概括文章主旨,最适合作为文章标题。故选C。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 A lack of motivation can be the biggest barrier to reaching your goals. When you have no motivation to complete a task or even start one, consider adopting the following techniques to develop a plan for self-motivation. ____16____. You can make attempts at them to see which one best helps you. Act as if you feel motivated If you’re struggling with motivation, try changing your behavior to trick yourself into feeling more motivated. For example, instead of lying on the couch in your pajamas all day, get dressed and spring into action. ____17____. Argue the opposite When you’re feeling unmotivated, you tend to come up with a long list of excuses for not taking any action. You might think, “It’ll be too hard,” or “I’ll never get it done anyway.” These thoughts can keep you stuck and block your progress. ____18____. This can help you shift your mindset and remind you that achieving your goal is possible. ____19____ You might believe that being tough on yourself is the way to motivate yourself. But severe self-criticism doesn’t work. Research suggests that treating yourself with warmth and understanding is a more effective motivator, especially in times of difficulty. So rather than beat yourself up for mistakes, create a gentle inner dialogue. Follow the 10-minute rule ____20____. But once you’ve taken that first step, it becomes much easier to keep going. If you’re feeling hesitant about beginning a task, try using the 10-minute rule. Allow yourself to quit after just 10 minutes if you need to. When you reach the 10-minute mark, you’ll probably find that you have enough motivation to continue. A. Practice self-kindness B. Having a sense of rules is very important C. Getting started on a task is usually the hardest part D. You may find that it will stimulate you to make efforts E. Learning to challenge them can help you move forward F. Keep in mind that not every strategy works for everyone G. Instead, focus on the factors that could lead to your success 【答案】16. F 17. D 18. G 19. A 20. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文, 主要介绍了提升自己的动力的策略。 【16题详解】 根据前文“When you have no motivation to complete a task or even start one, consider adopting the following techniques to develop a plan for self-motivation.( 当你没有动力完成一项任务,甚至没有动力开始一项任务时,考虑采用以下技巧来制定一个自我激励的计划。)”以及下文“You can make attempts at them to see which one best helps you.( 你可以尝试一下,看看哪一个对你最有帮助。)”可知,前文讲述可以采用一些技巧自我激励,下文讲述要找到对自己最有帮助的,因此推断策略不是对每个人都有效。F项“请记住,并非每种策略都适用于所有人”符合句意。故选F。 【17题详解】 根据标题“Act as if you feel motivated(行动起来好像你有动力一样)”可知,本段讲述要行动起来,上文“For example, instead of lying on the couch in your pajamas all day, get dressed and spring into action.( 例如,与其整天穿着睡衣躺在沙发上,不如穿上衣服,马上行动起来。)”举例说明要行动起来,因此推断D项“你会发现它会激励你做出努力”符合语境,说明行动起来会激励你努力,it指代上文提到的“spring into action”,故选D。 18题详解】 前文“When you’re feeling unmotivated, you tend to come up with a long list of excuses for not taking any action. You might think, “It’ll be too hard,” or “I’ll never get it done anyway.” These thoughts can keep you stuck and block your progress.( 当你感到没有动力时,你往往会想出一长串不采取任何行动的借口。你可能会想,“这太难了”,或者“反正我也做不完。”这些想法会让你停滞不前,阻碍你的进步。)”阐述没有动力的时候,会寻找很多的借口,因此推断空处提出解决办法,G项“相反,把注意力集中在那些可能导致你成功的因素上”提出解决办法,把注意力集中在能够让你成功的因素上,也就是积极的东西上,前后文是转折关系。故选G。 【19题详解】 根据下文“Research suggests that treating yourself with warmth and understanding is a more effective motivator, especially in times of difficulty. So rather than beat yourself up for mistakes, create a gentle inner dialogue.( 研究表明,用温暖和理解来对待自己是一种更有效的动力,尤其是在困难时期。所以,与其为自己的错误而自责,不如创建一个温和的内心对话。)”可知,本段建议友好的对待自己,这是一种更有效的动力,因此A项“练习善待自己”概况本段,故选A。 【20题详解】 根据下文“But once you’ve taken that first step, it becomes much easier to keep going.( 但是一旦你迈出了第一步,继续前进就会变得容易得多。)”和“When you reach the 10-minute mark, you’ll probably find that you have enough motivation to continue.( 当你达到10分钟时,你可能会发现你有足够的动力继续下去。)”可知,此处讲述开始的阶段是最困难的阶段,因此C项“开始一项任务通常是最难的部分”符合语境。故选C。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 I was born well and complete. But Chinese consumers are now more confident in _____45_____(they) domestically crafted China style." The underlying message here: it's cool to be Chinese. 【答案】36. but 37. a 38. that##which 39. to 40. has gained 41. particularly 42. becoming 43. sales 44. was assumed 45. their 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章提到由于年轻一代顾客和社交媒体的影响,中国正迅速跻身成为时尚之都。大部分的中国年轻人都更青睐于中国制造的产品。 【36题详解】 考查连词。句意:多亏了年轻一代的顾客和社交媒体,中国不再向西方寻求时尚概念,而是在发展它自己的风格。分析句子结构,前半句中的no longer是not的另一种形式,因此本句属于not...but...句型,表示“不是……而是……”。故填but。 【37题详解】 考查冠词。句意:它甚至有一个独特的名字:中国风。name为可数名词,此处表示泛指,unique发音以辅音音素开头,需用不定冠词a。故填a。 【38题详解】 考查定语从句。句意:中国风是年轻人对象征着国潮的中国文化和事物重拾起兴趣的结果。国潮是那些有传统中国特色的品牌和产品。空处引导定语从句,从句缺少主语,先行词主人,需用连接代词that或which引导。故填that或which。 【39题详解】 考查介词。句意:根据Nielsen——一个专门跟踪消费者潮流的公司的调查,68%的中国年轻人说他们喜欢购买“中国制造”的产品胜于外国制造的产品。本句中的prefer...to...为固定短语,意为“喜欢……胜于……”。故填to。 【40题详解】 考查动词时态和主谓一致。句意:这种趋势在过去的几年里越来越受欢迎,尤其在那些十八九岁的青少年和二十出头的人当中(受欢迎)。根据本句中的时间状语over the past couple of years可知,此处使用现在完成时,主语为单数名词,谓语动词使用第三人称单数形式。故填has gained。 【41题详解】 考查副词。句意:这种趋势在过去的几年里越来越受欢迎,尤其在那些十八九岁的青少年和二十出头的人当中(受欢迎)。空处修饰介词短语among those in their late teens and early 20s,需用副词形式。 故填was assumed。 【45题详解】 考查代词。句意:但是现在中国顾客对他们国内精心制作的中国款式更有信心。空处修饰名词style, 所以需用形容词性的物主代词。故填their。 第四部分 写作(共两节,满分40分) 第一节(满分15分) 46. 假定你是李华,你的美国留学生朋友Frank很喜欢中国文学。请你给他写一封信,邀请他一起去观看下周六将上演的话剧《雷雨》(Thunderstorm)。内容包括: 1.写信目的; 2.话剧表演的时间、地点以及注意事项; 3.期待回复。 注意: 1.写作词数应为80个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Dear Frank, ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 【答案】Dear Frank, I hope this letter finds you well. A group of teenagers, the members of the Springdale Youth Committee, gathered at a table. They looked determined and worried. Among them was Emily, a smart but often unnoticed girl who loves helping others. For weeks, they had been organizing a fundraising event for the local homeless shelter, as the shelter struggled to assist the increasing number of individuals seeking help. The big day was one week away, and everything was set — until they discovered another group had a similar charity event on the same day. This could divide the people who might come and the donations they hoped to get. “We can’t change the date now,” said Tom, a senior member, his voice filled with frustration. “We’ve already sent out invitations, and the place is booked.” Emily listened quietly to the discussion. She knew changing the date wasn’t possible, but she also realized competing with another worthy cause could hurt both sides. After the meeting ended without a solution, Emily decided to take action. She spent the next day looking into ways to work with the other group, hoping to find a way that would help both the homeless shelter and the other cause. The next day, she came to the committee with a suggestion. “What if we join our events?” she asked. “We could share resources, work together on promoting, and most importantly, make sure both causes are supported by the community.” The members looked at each other, some doubtful, others interested. “That’s a great idea, Emily, but how will we get them to agree?” Laura, another member, asked. Emily had already thought this through. “I’ll talk to their organizer and show them the benefits of a joint event.” She knew the path ahead would be challenging, but she was determined to make it happen for Springdale and its people. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Para 1 The committee agreed to let Emily lead this effort. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para 2 After days of negotiation, Emily finally got a positive reply. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 The committee agreed to let Emily lead this effort. As expected, the idea of partnering with the rival organization met with opposition. The other group, protective of their previous hard work, was initially reluctant to accept Emily’s proposal. They worried that their unique voice would be lost in the mix, insisting that their event should stand alone. Emily, unshaken, continued to highlight the benefits of partnership, emphasizing the potential for more donations and increased community involvement. It was a tough sell, but Emily’s determination and the sound reasoning of her plan gradually broke through their initial reluctance. After days of negotiation, Emily finally got a positive reply. They had come to realize the value in Emily’s proposal and agreed to collaborate. The two teams began working together, pooling their resources and expertise to create a single, unified event. The result was an overwhelming success, attracting a larger crowd and fostering a sense of unity among the participants. The substantial funds collected profoundly benefited both the homeless shelter and the other cause, showing that when organizations put aside their differences and worked together towards a common goal, the power of collaboration could make a real difference. 词汇激活 行为类 ①接受:accept/embrace ②担心:worry/concern ③强调:emphasize/stress 情绪类 ①不愿意的:reluctant/unwilling ②艰难:tough/difficult 【点睛】[高分句型1] They worried that their unique voice would be lost in the mix, insisting that their event should stand alone. B Last year my husband and I decided to make our 12-storey building more of a community. C There’s a whiteboard on the refrigerator in the du Plessises’ kitchen the couple uses to plan dinners. D Have you ever suddenly developed an appetite from a brightly colored cheeseburger, or decided to step into a candy or ice cream store displaying a window full of lively shades and hues of sweet treats? ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
