Step 1 Lead-in
1.Greet the class.
2.Ask students to brainstorm rules they know in English. Write them on the board.
3.Introduce the topic of school rules and lead into 1a.
Step 2 Work on la
Show la on the board. Ask students to tick the rules that apply to their school.Encourage students to share why certain rules are important.
Step 3 Work on 1b
1.Pre- listening:Look at the signs and talk about them. Ask the class : What do they mean?
2.Play the first part of the recording.Students tick the rules mentioned.Check the answers.
Step 4 Work on 1c
1.Pre-listening:Read the sentence first,get the class to guess the answers.
2.Play the recording again.Students complete the sentences in 1 c.
Step 5 Work on 1d
1.Play the second part of the recording,Students identify the speaker and tick the rules discussed.Ask students to share their findings.Practise reading the listening scripts.
Step 6 Work on l e
1.Model the following conversation with a student.
A :Can Mary mun in the hallway?
B: No, she can't. She has to walk in the hallway.
2.Students work in pairs to discuss the rules in l c using the structure provided.
Step 7 Pronunciation1-2
1. Show the pronunciation chart.Students listen and repeat, adding one more word to each group.
2.Play the chant audio. Students listen and identify stressed words. Repeat after the recording.
Step 8 Summary and Homework
Summary: Recap the key points of the lesson.
Homework : Ask students to write a short paragraph about their favourite and least favourite school rules ,explaining why.
