(The Notebook改编自Nicholas Sparks的畅销小说和一部高票房电影,讲述了Allie和Noah的爱情故事)”和Chicago部分第二段的“Celebrating its 28th year on Broadway, Chicago, inspired by well-known Bob Fosse’s work in the 1975 original production, features music by John Kander and Fred Ebb. 通读全文,尤其是第一段“Looking for amazing discounts on Broadway shows this Black Friday and Cyber Monday? We’ve got you covered with fantastic deals on some of the hottest musicals and plays in town! As a volunteer in the “Hong Kong Pals” program organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Kwok takes joy in sharing hidden treasures known only to locals with visitors. “As a cultural ambassador, I not only give visitors important information but also learn from their backgrounds, which I then share with my friends and family,” he says. Since the program started in 2009, it has brought together about 100 volunteers from different backgrounds. These people are eager to share Hong Kong’s culture and lifestyle, offering helpful local advice and ensuring every guest feels the city’s distinctive warmth and charm. Agnes Tam, a retired executive, remembers a special experience. She helped an elderly man, who was born in Hong Kong but had lived in the UK, relive his childhood memories through old photos. “We found 19 of the 20 places in his photos,” she says. “He gave me his photo album as a thank-you gift.” Although her life after retirement is busy, Tam enjoys volunteering. “It not only enriches my life but also gives me a sense of purpose and happiness,” she adds. For many volunteers, Hong Kong Pals is not just about helping others but also rediscovering their city. Agnes Lo, a civil servant, learned about the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance while preparing for the Mid-Autumn Festival. “I got to know more about this tradition and was excited to share it with visitors,” she says. “Over the past 14 years, our volunteers have contributed nearly 70,000 hours of service,” said Bakky Cheng, director of visitor services at the Hong Kong Tourism Board. For the past two decades, Cheng has witnessed the thriving growth of the volunteer team and the transformation of HongKong’s tourism industry. What remains unchanged is Hong Kong’s hospitality. “Through comprehensive training, we ensure every volunteer is updated with the latest tourism trends and masters the art of hospitality, so they can tell a better Hong Kong story to the world,” Cheng said. 4. What similarity Marco Kwok and Agnes Lo share in voluntary work? A. Their own professions offer much help. B. They mainly focus on traditional cultures. C. They’re the key members of the program. D. They gain some new insights from the work. 5. What does volunteering mean to Agnes Tam? A. It allows her to relive her childhood memories. B. It gives her a sense of fulfillment and enjoyment. C. It provides opportunities to engage with new people. D. It helps her learn more about Hong Kong’s traditions. 6. What can be inferred from Cheng’s words in the last two paragraphs? A. The program expects more volunteers to join. B. The city’s boom counts on developing tourism. C. They go to great lengths to promote the city’s image. D. The program is decisive in boosting the city’s tourism. 7. What’s the suitable title of the text? A. Hong Kong Pals: the bridge of cultures and hearts. B. Hong Kong’s tourism: the focus of cultural awareness. C. Hong Kong culture: the hidden treasure worth exploring. D. Hong Kong’s volunteers: the group from all walks of life. D 5. B 6. C 7. 根据第二段中Kwok所说““As a cultural ambassador, I not only give visitors important information but also learn from their backgrounds, which I then share with my friends and family,” he says.(他说:“作为一名文化大使,我不仅向游客提供重要信息,还从他们的背景中学习,然后与我的朋友和家人分享。”)”以及第五段中Agnes Lo所说““I got to know more about this tradition and was excited to share it with visitors,” she says.(她说:“我对这个传统有了更多的了解,很高兴能与游客分享。”)” 根据第四段中的“Although her life after retirement is busy, Tam enjoys volunteering. “It not only enriches my life but also gives me a sense of purpose and happiness,” she adds.(虽然退休后的生活很忙碌,但Tam喜欢做志愿者。她补充道:“这不仅丰富了我的生活,也给了我一种目标感和幸福感。”)”可知,志愿活动给Agnes Tam带来了满足感和快乐。故选B。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段中Bakky Cheng所说““Over the past 14 years, our volunteers have contributed nearly 70,000 hours of service,” said Bakky Cheng, director of visitor services at the Hong Kong Tourism Board.(香港旅游发展局游客服务总监Bakky Cheng表示:“在过去的14年里,我们的志愿者贡献了近70000小时的服务。”)”以及最后一段中““Through comprehensive training, we ensure every volunteer is updated with the latest tourism trends and masters the art of hospitality, so they can tell a better Hong Kong story to the world,” Cheng said.(程说:“通过全面的培训,我们确保每一位志愿者都了解最新的旅游趋势,掌握热情好客的艺术,这样他们就可以向世界讲述一个更好的香港故事。”)” 通读全文,结合第二段中“As a cultural ambassador, I not only give visitors important information but also learn from their backgrounds, which I then share with my friends and family,” he says.(他说:“作为一名文化大使,我不仅向游客提供重要信息,还从他们的背景中学习,然后与我的朋友和家人分享。”)” A。 C Extreme heat puts stress on everyone’s bodies. In recent years, scientists have homed in on the risks heat poses to older people, whose bodies become more sensitive to heat with increasing age. But a new study in the journal Science Advances suggests that there is another group at risk, and one that gets less attention. “Young people are subject to heat disproportionately (不成比例),” says Andrew Wilson, an author of the new analysis. The study, which focused on Mexico, found that people under 35 made up three-quarters of the country’s deaths related to heat in recent decades, with risks concentrated amongst children under 4 years old and young adults from 18 to 35. That percentage is likely to increase in the future as human-caused climate change increases the number of sticky, humid heat days in the country. The warming climate will also drive a drop in deaths related to cold weather, the study finds, at the same time as heat-related deaths rise. The study predicts that overall, deaths influenced by temperatures will drop within Mexico. But who is dying will likely change. The study finds that in the past, temperature-related deaths have been concentrated among seniors and driven mostly by cold weather. In a hotter world, the burden of temperature-related deaths is likely to shift toward younger people. The result is “a really surprising inequality across age groups,” says Wilson. “The results underline the complexity of temperature-related deaths in a changing climate,” says Tamma Carleton, an environmental economist, who was not involved with the study. In many mid-latitude and northern regions, the number of overall deaths from extreme temperatures is projected to drop. But in places that are already hot, deaths from heat are projected to rise. “In some places of the world we’re going to see net increases under warming because those heat increases are going to overpower declines on the cold side,” she says. “But it is a dance that can look very different in different regions of the world.” And the impacts, Carleton says, are generally much greater in countries that have historically contributed the least to human-driven climate change. 8. What does the underlined phrase “homed in on” probably mean? A. Met accidentally. B. Overlooked easily. C. Focused on intently. D. Addressed successfully. 9. How are paragraph 3 and 4 developed? A. By stating the process. B. By listing examples. C. By analyzing the reasons. D. By making comparisons. 10. Which one is true regarding temperature-related deaths? A. Fewer people may die of cold while heat-related deaths will increase. B. The total number of temperature-related deaths will increase globally. C. There will be a significant drop in overall deaths due to climate change. D. Younger people will be less affected by temperature changes than seniors. 11. What will probably be talked about in the following paragraph? A The risks of cold weather to seniors. B. The reasons for the temperature change. C. The suggestions for the risk-related group. D. The impacts of extreme temperature on population. C 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第一段的“Extreme heat puts stress on everyone’s bodies. 根据第三段中“The study, which focused on Mexico, found that people under 35 made up three-quarters of the country’s deaths related to heat in recent decades, with risks concentrated amongst children under 4 years old and young adults from 18 to 35 (这项以墨西哥为重点的研究发现,近几十年来,35岁以下人群占该国与高温相关死亡的3/4,风险主要集中在4岁以下儿童和18至35岁年轻人身上)”以及第四段中“The warming climate will also drive a drop in deaths related to cold weather, the study finds, at the same time as heat-related deaths rise. 根据第四段“The warming climate will also drive a drop in deaths related to cold weather, the study finds, at the same time as heat-related deaths rise. 故选 A。 根据最后一段““But it is a dance that can look very different in different regions of the world.” And the impacts, Carleton says, are generally much greater in countries that have historically contributed the least to human-driven climate change. C。 D Now, artificial intelligence (AI) is coming for the most attractive and exciting jobs. Stars may worry that AI is stealing their work and giving less talented performers the skills to take away their audience. In fact, the famous individuals complaining the most loudly about the new technology are the ones who stand to benefit the most. Far from weakening star power, AI will make the biggest celebrities bigger than ever by allowing them to be in all markets, in all types of media, at all times. This isn’t the first time that technology has changed the rules of the fame game. People started talking about stars in the 18th century when the widespread access to reading materials made it possible to be truly famous within your lifetime. Film and radio originally seemed like a threat to stars, who worried their live performances would be devalued. In fact, those technologies started the era of the superstar, a term that caught on in the 1920s. A similar worry greeted the invention of television. But again, the new tech made the famous even more so, bringing them into every living room. As AI-generated content floods into the entertainment business, artists and entertainment professionals are worrying once more that their fame will be reduced — and again, the outcome is likely to be the opposite. These opportunities come with conditions attached. Artists are right to worry about copyright, which must be protected if AI is not to become a legalised form of piracy. Until these copyright concerns are addressed, AI will be a legal Wild West. The bigger question is how the age of the all-around superstar will appeal to audiences. The risk is boredom. AI is brilliant at remixing and repeating old material but less good at creating exciting content that, for now, remains a human specialty. Yet the entertainment market is highly self-correcting. Audiences have the power to turn a hot hit into a has-been one in an instant, as stars are all too aware. While AI-powered entertainment grows, consumers still seem to enjoy human drama. Sport, perhaps the most AI-proof, real-life event there is, has seen its value to media companies rise in recent years. 12 What is the primary concern of stars in paragraph 1? A. The inability to master AI. B. The low level of their acting skills. C. The decline in their popularity. D. The improvement of audience’s taste. 13. Why does the author mention “film, radio and television”? A. To show the difficulties facing the stars then. B. To prove the techno-panic is common in history. C. To confirm AI will surely come into every family. D. To predict the trend of the technological development. 14. How can superstars attract audience according to the text? A. By avoiding the use of AI. B. By cooperating with directors. C. By learning more advanced technologies. D. By improving content creation. 15. What is the text mainly about? A. The era of AI is around the corner. B. AI creates a brand-new entertainment industry. C. AI makes stars worried and audience demanding. D. AI is more of a helper than an imagined threat to stars. C 13. B 14. D 15. 根据第一段中“Stars may worry that AI is stealing their work and giving less talented performers the skills to take away their audience. 根据第二段中“Film and radio originally seemed like a threat to stars, who worried their live performances would be devalued. In fact, those technologies started the era of the superstar, a term that caught on in the 1920s. A similar worry greeted the invention of television. But again, the new tech made the famous even more so, bringing them into every living room. 根据第四段中“AI is brilliant at remixing and repeating old material but less good at creating exciting content that, for now, remains a human specialty. 通读全文,尤其是第一段中“In fact, the famous individuals complaining the most loudly about the new technology are the ones who stand to benefit the most. Far from weakening star power, AI will make the biggest celebrities bigger than ever by allowing them to be in all markets, in all types of media, at all times. Kien Vuu, a longevity (长寿) doctor, thinks about how his childhood love for singing shaped his life. Despite becoming a doctor, he continues to make time for karaoke (卡拉OK), believing doing what he really loves is important for physical and mental health. ____16____ It’s a point to be explored shortly. ____17____ Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. Nearly all hobbies can provide a lot of positive health benefits. The science backs this up. A 2023 meta-analysis found strong evidence that leisure (休闲的) activities can protect against heart disease and age-related issues like pain and disability. Besides improving physical health, hobbies improve the ability of the brain’s neural (神经的) networks to change, adapt and make new connections. ____18____ This could be the cause of how hobbies make use of the brain’s flexibility, fostering new neural connections that enhance abilities beyond the specific skill itself. Basically, humans seek meaning, something that gives them a sense of purpose. ____19____ It provides direction and a sense of achievement. Engaging in hobbies, especially those done in groups, helps build community, establish connections and strengthen bonds, all contributing to a greater sense of purpose and belonging. While a hobby is anything you do in your leisure time, not all hobbies are equal in promoting health and happiness. Whether you seek physical activity, mental inspiration, or community, the key is to find activities that truly bring joy. Avoid passive pastimes, like too much screen time, which often leave you feeling worse. ____20____ Now it’s your turn: Go find the thing that lights you up and do more of it. A. Following your likes is key to satisfying this need. B. It also stresses the need to balance work and leisure. C. People who play a musical instrument often do better in math. D. A widespread myth is that engaging in hobbies is a waste of time. E. This supports the idea that hobbies can bring us benefits in many aspects. F. Rather, choose hobbies that challenge your physical strength and mental focus. G. Instead, aim for hobbies that offer both short-term pleasure and long-term benefits. E 17. D 18. C 19. A 20. 【16题详解】 前文“Despite becoming a doctor, he continues to make time for karaoke (卡拉OK), believing doing what he really loves is important for physical and mental health. (这一点将在稍后探讨)”表明后面的段落将探讨空处提出的内容,因此E项“This supports the idea that hobbies can bring us benefits in many aspects. 17题详解】 后文“Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. Nearly all hobbies can provide a lot of positive health benefits. 几乎所有的爱好都对健康有益)”表明空处涉及的内容与爱好相关,且是错误的观点,因此D项“A widespread myth is that engaging in hobbies is a waste of time. 【18题详解】 前文“Besides improving physical health, hobbies improve the ability of the brain’s neural (神经的) networks to change, adapt and make new connections. (除了改善身体健康,爱好还能提高大脑神经网络改变、适应和建立新连接的能力)”指出爱好能促进大脑发展新连接,因此C项“People who play a musical instrument often do better in math. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a soft golden light over the street. As she worked, her eyes fell on a big black-and-white cat near a waste bin behind her shop. Unlike the usual stray cats (流浪猫) she sometimes saw, this one appeared well-fed, with a glossy coat and bright, curious eyes. The cat trotted up to her without hesitation, as if he knew she was there to help. Holly bent down and gently petted him, feeling the warmth of his fur. It was clear this was no stray; the cat seemed too well cared for to have wandered off on his own. Holly felt a tug at her heart, knowing that someone must be missing this cat. She brought him inside, gave him food and water, and she also noticed the collar with a faded tag, a sign that he had a home. Meanwhile, Jamie McCall was heartbroken. Her beloved cat, Tucker, had gone missing the day before during a stop at a small hotel. Tucker had been more than just a pet to Jamie; he had been a source of comfort after the tragic losses she had suffered in the past two years. First, she had lost her husband of 43 years to cancer, then her grandson to violence. A workplace accident had left her partially disabled, and life had seemed to turn upside down. Through it all, Tucker had been her lifeline, offering companionship and love. After searching for hours without success, Jamie had no choice but to leave the hotel, heartbroken and fearing the worst for Tucker. And he didn’t know a good Samaritan was doing something to bring Tucker back to him. Holly posted the cat’s photo in local lost-pet groups, hoping to find its owner. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Finally came the day they had arranged to meet. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Holly posted the cat’s photo in local lost pet groups, hoping to find its owner. She also included a detailed description of the cat and the place where she found him. Every few hours, she would check the messages, full of anticipation. Days passed, and there were many responses, but none of them were from the real owner. Holly didn’t give up. She contacted local veterinarians and animal shelters, providing them with the cat’s information. One day, a message came from Jamie. She was overjoyed as she read Jamie’s description of Tucker, which perfectly matched the cat in her shop. They quickly arranged a meeting to confirm if it was really Tucker. Finally came the day they had arranged to meet. Holly brought the cat outside the shop, waiting for Jamie. When Jamie arrived, she saw the cat at a glance. Tears welled up in her eyes as she rushed forward. The cat seemed to recognize Jamie too, meowing softly and rubbing against her legs. Jamie hugged Tucker tightly, thanking Holly again and again. Holly was touched by the reunion. She knew that she had done a good deed, bringing back Jamie’s source of comfort. From that day on, Jamie and Holly became good friends, and Tucker continued to be Jamie’s most beloved companion, filling her life with love once more. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①流逝:pass/elapse ②提供:provide/offer ③冲:rush/dash ④拥抱:hug/embrace 情绪类 ①欣喜的:overjoyed/delighted ②感动:touch/move 【点睛】[高分句型1] She also included a detailed description of the cat and the place where she found him.(运用了关系副词where引导限制性定语从句) [高分句型2] She was overjoyed as she read Jamie’s description of Tucker, which perfectly matched the cat in her shop.(运用了从属连词as引导时间状语从句和关系代词which引导非限制性定语从句) [高分句型3] The cat seemed to recognize Jamie too, meowing softly and rubbing against her legs.(运用了现在分词作伴随状语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2024~2025 学年度第一学期期末学业质量监测试卷 高二英语 注意事项 考生在答题前请认真阅读本注意事项及各题答题要求 1. 1. B When he puts aside his suits after long hours of work as a financial professional, Hong Kong resident Marco Kwok happily embraces another identity: a host to visitors from around the world. 7 What’s the suitable title of the text? A. Hong Kong Pals: the bridge of cultures and hearts. B. Hong Kong’s tourism: the focus of cultural awareness. C. Hong Kong culture: the hidden treasure worth exploring. D. Hong Kong’s volunteers: the group from all walks of life. C Extreme heat puts stress on everyone’s bodies. The result is “a really surprising inequality across age groups” says Wilson. A. The risks of cold weather to seniors. B. The reasons for the temperature change. C. The suggestions for the risk-related group. D. The impacts of extreme temperature on population. D Now, artificial intelligence (AI) is coming for the most attractive and exciting jobs. 12. What is the primary concern of stars in paragraph 1? Kien Vuu, a longevity (长寿) doctor, thinks about how his childhood love for singing shaped his life. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
