She tried to show the bear she meant no harm, and the bear seemed to understand her peaceful thoughts. The hospital workers quickly asked everyone to leave, but Hana wanted to assist the bear. She managed to guide the bear into a room, giving herself time to think. She realized the bear wasn’t being unfriendly but was asking for help. Hana asked her friends for help, but they were afraid. Then, Steve, a skilled doctor and a good friend, agreed to help her. Together, they went back to the room where the bear waited, making a loud, worried sound. Hana and Steve followed the bear into the forest, feeling they needed to help right away. The bear took them to an old well where some animals were crying for help. With Peter, an animal expert, on the phone, they used a rope and cloth to safely lift the animals out. The bear watched, seeming to understand. Once the animals were safe, Hana and Steve needed to find a place for them. Fortunately, one of their friends knew a local home that could care for the special animals. Hana often went to see the animals at that place. She was happy when she got to know them. This was very different from the fear she had in the forest. Hana knew she had done the right thing by following the bear. It took her to a place where she got unexpected happiness and a strong friendship with her new animal friends. 4. C Archaeological findings show that Chankillo, which is located in the desert of Peru near the Casma-Sechin river, may be the earliest known observatory (天文台) in the Americas. Built over 2,300 years ago, the site has a platform, thirteen towers on the nearby hill, and a temple. There are also stones and walls with confusing entrances to prevent visitors who are not welcome. New discovery has found that Chankillo was used for a short period of time between the fourth century BCE and the early first century CE. But it was later given up, and remained largely forgotten until the nineteenth century. Chankillo is unique among ancient observatory sites because of its two observation points; similar sites around the world only have one point, which does not provide the measurement to track passage of time over a full year. The thirteen towers of Chankillo, located between two observation points, mark the full year’s cycle (循环) of sunrises or sunsets, which slowly move across the skyline throughout the year. By watching the sunrise or sunset from the observation points, the people in Chankillo would have been able to determine the date within one to two days and could therefore work out the schedule of seasonal events, including planting and gathering times, as well as the festivals. Archaeological findings at Chankillo also suggest that sun admiration appeared in the Andes around 2,000 years before the well-known Inca Empire. In July 2021, the Chankillo Observatory was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as an outstanding example of architectural and scientific heritage in human history. This choice shows that it’s very important for learning about how ancient people thought and watched the skies, ensuring this special heritage continues to benefit all people. 8. What prevented unwelcome visitors from entering Chankillo? A. A temple. B. Thirteen towers. C. A platform. D. Confusing entrances. 9. Why was Chankillo unique among ancient observatories? A. It had the oldest design. B. It was built in the desert. C. It tracked the passage of time. D. It had two observation points. 10. Which of the following events was most likely to happen to people in Chankillo? A. They divided a year into 12 months. B. They celebrated the Spring Festival. C. They farmed according to the seasons. D. They got their food mainly by hunting. 11 What is the best title for the text? A. Chankillo: an Ancient Observatory B. UNESCO’s World Heritage List C. The Inca Empire and Sun Admiration D. The History of Peru’s Ancient Sites D The characters on the “oracle bones (甲骨) ” is an ancient form of Chinese writing, dating back 3,000 years. But their study has been challenging: the bones are easily falling apart, copies of the characters made by ink rubbings (油墨拓印) can be unclear or incomplete and pieces of oracle bones are preserved in different national museums in China and around the world. Up until now, scientists have only deciphered about 1,000 of the 4,000 characters identified into modern languages. Now researchers in Beijing are using AI to fast-track the basic but necessary work of comparing each character with thousands of others in databases (数据库). “This is a great example of human-computer partnership,” said Mo Bofeng, a professor from Capital Normal University. Before the project, studying oracle bones characters was hard work. Scientists had to compare each picture to find the same or the similar ones with eyes. “In the past, this work fell only on the shoulders of masters with rich experience and good memory, but their study only led to handful findings.” Jiang Yubin, a researcher at Fudan University. “The project has managed to complete various comparison in a quick, fruitful and exciting way,” he added. In November 2022, in just one week, the Diviner Project completed its main task, comparing 181,134 pieces across 100 databases. It not only recognised tens of thousands of former identified copies but also found more than 300 new pairs. This is just the first step. “Now the project is to clean the data and recover the data to the primary form by joining small pieces to a big one,” said Wu. “With this, we hope we can move on to the final challenge, understanding the meaning of these characters.” 12. What does the underlined word “deciphered” in paragraph 2 probably mean? A. Copied. B. Translated. C. Divided. D. Preserved. 13. What was the old study method like before the Diviner Project? A. Slow and hard. B. Simple and fun. C. Easy and quick. D. Smart and exciting. 14. What is the main purpose of the Diviner Project? A. To protect oracle bones kept in museums. B. To create a database of all known oracle bones. C. To compare and identify oracle bones characters. D. To promote the study of oracle bones on television. 15. What can be inferred from Wu’s words? A. Small pieces of the data are useless. B. The project needs further development. C. Recovering the data is the hardest work. D. The meaning of the characters is understood. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Do you want to feel more energetic, happier, and maybe enjoy a longer life? Her heart sank as she saw the familiar low test scores. It felt like failing tests was common for her. Despite spending countless hours studying and trying her best, the scores never seemed to improve. With tears welling up in her eyes, she quickly put the paper into her bag, hoping to avoid being made fun of by her classmates. Just then, Ms. Zhang, her gentle and caring teacher, noticed her quietly drying the tears. Ms. Zhang’s eyes softened with concern as she walked over to Lin Ya’s desk. In a kind and encouraging voice, she asked Lin Ya to come to see her during lunchtime. Lin Ya felt a mix of curiosity and hope. She couldn’t wait for lunchtime to come. When the lunch bell finally rang, Lin Ya quickly packed her things and hurried to Ms. Zhang’s office. Ms. Zhang greeted her with a warm smile and let her sit next to her. She looked carefully at Lin Ya’s face, smiled warmly, and said, “Don’t worry. I know what’s on your mind. If you trust me, I believe we can work together to find a solution.” Lin Ya nodded, a light of hope shining in her eyes. Ms. Zhang then took out Lin Ya’s test paper and patiently explained each question to her. She pointed out the grammar mistakes and vocabulary problems that Lin Ya had made. After that, Ms. Zhang gave her some practical suggestions. Lin Ya listened attentively, taking notes carefully. Ms. Zhang added, “With three important qualities: diligence (勤勉), determination and strategies, you can make progress and achieve success. The first step is always the hardest, but if you keep going forward and don’t give up, you’ll be successful. Come on, cheer up, and let’s work on it together.” 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 From that day on, Lin Ya followed Ms. Zhang’s advice and worked harder. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Here came the result of the final exam. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 盘龙区2024―2025学年上学期期末质量检测 高一年级英语试卷 (满分150分,考试用时120分钟) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 故选A项。 C Archaeological findings show that Chankillo, which is located in the desert of Peru near the Casma-Sechin river, may be the earliest known observatory (天文台) in the Americas. 11. What is the best title for the text? A. Chankillo: an Ancient Observatory B. UNESCO’s World Heritage List C. The Inca Empire and Sun Admiration D. The History of Peru’s Ancient Sites 【答案】8. D 9. D 10. C 11. A. Copied. B. Translated. C. Divided. D. Preserved. 13 What was the old study method like before the Diviner Project? A. Slow and hard. B. Simple and fun. C. Easy and quick. D. Smart and exciting. 14. What is the main purpose of the Diviner Project? A. To protect oracle bones kept in museums. B. To create a database of all known oracle bones. C. To compare and identify oracle bones characters. D To promote the study of oracle bones on television. 15. What can be inferred from Wu’s words? A. Small pieces of the data are useless. B. The project needs further development. C. Recovering the data is the hardest work. D. The meaning of the characters is understood. 【答案】12. B 13. A 14. C 15.
