B 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇应用文。主要讲述了四位在不同领域取得成功的人物的生平事迹和成就。 【1题详解】 细节理解题。根据Colonel Sanders部分“He developed his secret of frying chicken in 1939, but he didn’t set up the business until 1952.(1939年,他发明了自己的炸鸡秘诀,但直到1952年他才开始创业。)”和“He sold his shares in the company in 1964 at the age of 74 and served as an iconic ambassador (形象大使) for the company.(1964年,74岁的他卖掉了公司的股份,成为了公司的形象大使。)”可知,Colonel Sanders在62岁时创立了肯德基。故选C。 【2题详解】 推理判断题。根据Gladys Burrill部分的“She had an adventurous life of working as a plane pilot and staying fit through climbing and hiking.(她有一个冒险的生活,作为一名飞机飞行员,并通过登山和徒步旅行保持健康。)”可知,Gladys Burrill的生活是丰富多彩的。故选D。 【3题详解】 细节理解题。根据Laura Ingalls Wilder部分“Wilder (1867-1957)(Wilder(1867-1957))”和“She published her first book in 1932.(她于1932年出版了第一本书。)”,Colonel Sanders部分“He developed his secret of frying chicken in 1939, but he didn’t set up the business until 1952.(1939年,他发明了自己的炸鸡秘诀,但直到1952年他才开始创业。)”和“He sold his shares in the company in 1964 at the age of 74 and served as an iconic ambassador (形象大使) for the company.(1964年,74岁的他卖掉了公司的股份,成为了公司的形象大使。)”,Gladys Burrill部分“At the age of 84, Burrill ran her first marathon. I thought regretfully. I'll always remember that day, when I was so surprised by all the strange looks everyone was giving me. Those thoughts will always stay with me. And I couldn't believe I would lose the friendship of the person I trusted the most. Five years back, Sally was the new kid in class. I don't know what it was, but something unusual about her drew me to her. She was the most friendly person I knew. We started as classmates, but after a few months, we were like best friends. So, I never expected her to hurt me in such a big way. I don't know what made me tell Sally about my personal life. She made the matter bigger than it was, adding her own spin(倾向性描述)on it and telling everyone at school. It was like someone had done something bad in the back. After she gave away my secrets, everyone at school started laughing at me, looking at me and giggling(咯咯地笑)whenever I passed by. After this terrible situation, I changed schools. Sally called me many times, but I didn't answer. My heart was broken. I tried hard to heal from the scars she left on my heart. I started a new life. After five years, my life went back to the way it was, with new friends. But one day, I met Anna at the market. She was my classmate from 3rd grade. She told me that Sally wasn't the one who brought my secrets to light. Mary was. Mary was our school's big mouth who always wanted to stick her nose into other people's business. I was all at sea(不知所措). I wished I could have asked Sally about this. I wished 1 could go back in time and fix my mistakes. From that, I learned a life lesson that we should trust those we love because one little mistake could really damage(破坏)our lives. 4. Why did the author make friends with Sally? A. Sally was friendly toward her. B. Sally shared her secrets with her. C. She appreciated Sally's sense of humor. D. She wanted to help Sally fit in. 5. What did the author do after her secrets were given away? A. She called Sally to ask why. B. She changed to a new school. C. She told Sally's secrets to others. D. She tried to forget about it. 6. How did the author feel after she found out the truth? A. Regretful. B. Hurt. C. Moved. D. Disappointed. 7. What lesson did the author learn from this experience? A. It's better late than never. B. We must protect our privacy. C. Always have confidence in your loved ones. D. Small mistakes will lead to bigger ones. 【答案】4. A 5. B 6. A 7. On Nov 24, a wild boar broke into a house, attacked and killed an elderly person in Shaanxi province. Also, on Oct 27, a worker checking the damage of a train hit by a wild boar was killed by another train. Sun Quanhui, a scientist with the World Animal Protection Association, said that although wild boars seldom attack people, adult males are strong and can be dangerous. According to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, a total of 2 million wild boars live in China and accidents or attacks involving boars have been reported. Xie Yi, a professor at Beijing Forestry University, said that due to their strong ability to adapt to the environment and have babies, wild boars’ population grows faster than their natural enemies like wolves. This has led to an increase in their areas of activity. Also, wild boars often come down from the hills to search for food in spring and autumn, which is why people have been seeing them more often recently. “They are not picky (挑剔的) eaters and will eat anything edible (可食用的),” said Sun. Wild boars are thus an important part of the ecosystem and biodiversity (生物多样性). Sun also stressed that without natural enemies, “the only way to control the wild boar population and bring it to a reasonable (合理的) level is by hunting”. In June last year, wild boars were taken off of the protected wildlife list, allowing them to be hunted without a license. Several places like Shaanxi and the Ningxia Hui autonomous region have hired hunters to control their populations. However, Sun noted that hunting is only a short-term solution. Long-term control requires bringing back enemies of boars and making habitats bigger to reduce problems between humans and wildlife. In February, a plan was put forward by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration to prevent and control damage caused by wildlife, including wild boars. It plans to set up legal measures and improve the compensation (赔偿) and assistance system (援助制度) by next year. 8. What problem is caused by the increase in wild boar populations? A. Fights with humans. B. Environmental damage. C. Harms to other animals. D. Overuse of farmland. 9. According to Xie Yi, why has the range of wild boar activity increased? A. They are well-protected by the law. B. Their food sources are running out. C. They are picky and require more habitats for food. D. Their population is growing faster than natural enemies. 10. What is Sun’s opinion about hunting wild boars? A. It’s not practical in the long run. B. It’s beneficial to local communities. C. It requires legal protection. D. It is the most cost-effective solution. 11. What is a long-term solution for controlling wild boar populations? A. Relocating boars to different areas. B. Increasing the number of hunters. C. Providing food sources for boars from time to time. D. Reintroducing their natural enemies and enlarging habitats. 【答案】8. A 9. D 10. A 11. This has led to an increase in their areas of activity(北京林业大学教授谢屹表示,由于野猪对环境和繁殖的适应能力很强,其种群数量增长速度比天敌(如狼)更快。 根据文章第五段“Long-term control requires bringing back enemies of boars and making habitats bigger to reduce problems between humans and wildlife(长期控制需要重新引入野猪的天敌,并且扩大它们的栖息地,以减少人类与野生动物之间的冲突)”可知,控制野猪数量的长期解决方案是重新引入它们的天敌并扩大栖息地,故选D项。 D Many Silicon Valley parents are becoming more concerned about preventing their children from using screens. Some parents think that even a little screen time can be extremely addictive, so it is better if their children avoid using or seeing these devices completely. However, it is difficult for working adults in the 21st century to give up using a phone at home. So, it’s simpler to employ someone to do this. “Silicon Valley nanny (保姆)”, who takes children back to a time without screens every day is widely needed. From Cupertino to San Francisco, it’s widely agreed that screen time is harmful to youngsters. Therefore, parents are requesting nannies to keep phones, tablets and computers in a hidden place. Others even offer no-phone agreements. Research shows that spending too much time on technology can harm young minds. For example, teenagers who use social media frequently are more likely to feel depressed and anxious. Insomnia (失眠) rates have also increased amongst this age group, and an increasing number of children display the signs that they can’t focus attention. These seemingly minor (轻微的) problems could become significant challenges for future generations. “Many parents come back home and focus on their smartphones, ignoring whatever their children are trying to say,” said Shannon Zimmerman, who works as a nanny in San Jose for families that forbid screen time. “As a nanny, I also call on more parents to spend more time with their kids.” 12. Why are the Silicon Valley nannies greatly needed according to the text? A. To help parents and children balance work and life. B. To teach children how to use technology responsibly. C. To keep children away from screens. D. To encourage children to exercise. 13. What is the result of spending too much time on screens for teenagers? A Feeling confused. B. Feeling anxious. C. Feeling bored. D. Feeling nervous. 14. What does Shannon suggest parents do? A. Encourage their children more. B. Play games with their children. C. Stop using smartphones at home. D. Spend more time with their children. 15. What is the text about? A. Parents concern about screen time for children. B. Children are addicted to screen time. C. All parents limit children to phones. D. Science has no effects on young minds. 【答案】12. C 13. B 14. D 15. D Many Silicon Valley parents are becoming more concerned about preventing their children from using screens. B To teach children how to use technology responsibly. C. To keep children away from screens. D. To encourage children to exercise. 13. What is the result of spending too much time on screens for teenagers? A. Feeling confused. 第二节七选五(共5小题; 每小题2.5分, 满分12.5分) 根据短文内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Food safety is a problem in all places around the world.
