As students, we sometimes feel it boring to do homework every day, so doing creative homework can make us happier and more interested in English.
I have many good ideas about creative English homework because English is my favorite subject. Firstly, we can prepare for an English speech. It is a good chance for us to express ourselves in class and we will be more confident if we can value the opportunity. Secondly, if we draw mind maps to review our English notes, we will remember them well. Thirdly, it’s also proud of us to make a video to introduce our traditional Chinese culture in English. We can post it online so that more foreigners can know about our great country. What’s more, we can learn to sing an English song and sing it in class. In this way, we can learn more words.
I hope we can have more creative English homework in the future.

How? Why?
First, our teacher made us read English books recommended by two of my classmates. One of them advised me to read Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. For a whole week, I just couldn’t move past the first sentence. It was a task, and I disliked it. I didn’t want to read the book at all!

Andrew Parker, an English inventor, artist and zoologist at the University of Oxford, thinks color is not a thing. The world’s best colors, he says, come not from pigments (颜料), but from materials arranged into crystalline nano-structures (晶体纳米结构). And Parker thinks that we will have colors far richer and more shining than the common colors that we can see today. He calls it structural color (结构色).
Structural color was first recorded in the 17th century, in some birds5 feathers, but it is only since the invention of the electron microscope (电子显微镜), in the 1930s, that we have known how it works. Structural color is completely different from pigments. Pigments absorb (吸收) light, however, structural color reflects light into special wavelengths. The results are lively, often shining.
Parker has been working for over twenty years on a method to reproduce these nano-structures in a lab, to produce the most amazing nature’s colors. “The brightest colors,” says Parker, are being produced from completely transparent (透明的) materials. He decided to reproduce some colors to prove his idea.
Parker has now found a way to produce large numbers of what he calls “Pure Structural Color”. Deep oranges can remain their advantage in the sun; blues and purples also have their brightness. Parker calls them the brightest colors in the world, and he keeps all the details. In this way, others can not say that the exact method is not found in nature.
Next, Parker hopes to make use of the way butterflies shine gold and silver to make special paints, and to learn from the cuttlefish (墨鱼) how to make objects change colors. Parker sees a future that structural color will be used instead of pigments.
34.What makes people know how structural color works?
A.The development of some modern labs. B.The appearance of the electron microscope.
C.The documentary about some birds leathers. D.Tie different backgrounds of structural colour.
35.What is Parker’s purpose according to Paragraph 3?
A.To keep his secret in the lab. B.To produce different materials.
C.To make the most amazing colors. D.To find the best method to spread light.

A.the sun plays an important role in our daily life
B.blues and purples are brighter than deep oranges

46.My father is a great man in his (forty).
【答案】forties

47.Students have to keep improving (they), or they will fall behind.
48.The robot needs (check) once a month. And we will check it for you for free.
【答案】checking/to be checked
主语The robot和check之间是逻辑上的动宾关系,need doing/need to be done表示“……需要被做”。故填checking/to be checked。
49.He was seen out of his office at about 5:30 pm. (run)
根据“at about 5:30 pm”可知被看到在下午5:30正跑出办公室,此处是结构be seen doing sth.“被看到正做某事”。故填running。
50.—We didn’t see you at the party last night, Mike. We (expect) you all the time.
—Oh, sorry. I forgot all about it.
【答案】were expecting
根据“last night”和“all the time”可知,此处表示过去某一阶段一直发生的动作,应用过去进行时(was/were doing),主语为we,助动词用were。故填were expecting。
51.It’s really wise of you (join) the Reading Club. You have so many friends now.
【答案】to join

52. the words correctly is very important in spoken English. (pronounce)
Pronouncing
根据“...the words correctly is very important in spoken English.”
53.The concert tickets you are looking forward to (sell) out if you don’t order them as soon as possible.
【答案】will be sold
故填will be sold。
54.If you go to Qinhu National Wetland Park to watch the fireworks show, be careful not to have your phone (steal).
55.The Last Dance is such a wonderful movie that it is worth (watch) a second time.
56.—Mom, could I play video games for a while?
—Unless your homework (complete).
【答案】is completed
故填is completed。

On November 14,2023, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)(国际民用航空组织) officially recognized (认可) China’s Bei Dou Satellite Navigation (卫星导航) System (BDS) as the world level. This makes it one of the four major global satellite navigation systems, along with the United States’ GPS, Russia’s GLONASS and the European Union’s Galileo.
China started to develop the BDS in 1994. The system came into use in 2000. After 12 years of work, it began serving the Asia-Pacific region. In 2020, with the global use of BDS-3, China has improved the system to provide users with more correct positioning services, making it a valuable tool for more industries, including transportation, agriculture, and surveying.
Now, with 59 satellites in its network, the BDS has served more than 1.5 billion users across the world. Most mobile apps providing maps, navigation and shopping services in China already support the BDS.
China’s satellite navigation industry is growing fast. Its value reached more than 500 billion yuan in 2022. That number is expected to double by 2025. In the first half year of 2023, there were about 13.4 million new BDS devices (设备). Nearly 60% were used in transport systems. The rest were used in communication and agriculture. The former made up about 28% and the latter 12%.
As BDS gets more popular, it is expected to play an increasingly important role in global navigation and positioning services.

Taking a cup of tea, reading a book and sunbathing were my most memorable and peaceful moments on my summer holiday. And to everyone’s surprise, I finished 12 books: the two series of Percy Jackson.
How? Why?
First, our teacher made us read English books recommended by two of my classmates. One of them advised me to read Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. For a whole week, I just couldn’t move past the first sentence. It was a task, and I disliked it. I didn’t want to read the book at all!
Then one sleepless night, with the silver moon overhead and the sound of insects outside, I picked up the book. The chapter (章节) of Percy’s claim was so wonderful that it simply took my breath away. It was like a magnet (磁铁), drawing me into the adventures (冒险) of Percy Jackson. Thinking about my past disdain (不屑) made me turn red.
When the book ended, the happiness of reading washed over me, leaving me wanting more.
One book after another came and went, and those touching moments in them left unforgettable memories in my heart. I felt everything, even the goose bumps (鸡皮疙瘩) on my arms. My heart rose and fell like a roller coaster, with all the exciting moments that followed each other like heart beats.

36.From paragraph 4, we can know that ________.
A.the sun plays an important role in our daily life
B.blues and purples are brighter than deep oranges
C.Parker has found the most beautiful color in nature
D.Parker keeps the details of producing structural color
37.How does Parker find the future of structural color?
