例句1:She saw her husband.(她看到了她的丈夫。)
There, she saw her husband, a man staring at her, wearing an expression of relief.(在那里,她看到了她的丈夫,一个正盯着她看的男人,带着宽慰的表情。)
例句2:I met a friend.(我遇到了一个朋友。)
I met a friend, an old classmate from high school, who still remembered the good old days.(我遇到了一个朋友,一个高中时的老同学,他还记得那些美好的旧时光。)
例句3:He is a scientist.(他是一个科学家。)
He is a scientist, a brilliant researcher in the field of artificial intelligence, known for his groundbreaking work.(他是一个科学家,一个在人工智能领域杰出的研究人员,以他的开创性工作而闻名。)
Jane walked on for quite a long time.(简继续走了很长时间。)
With no path to follow, Jane walked on for quite a long time.(因为无路可循,简继续走了很长时间。)
例句2:He left the room.(他离开了房间。)
He left the room quietly.(他悄悄地离开了房间。)

She laughed loudly, as if she had never been happier.(她大声笑了,仿佛她从未如此开心过。)
1:His mother works in a big company.(他母亲在一家大公司工作。)
His loving mother, who used to be an excellent English teacher in a middle school, now works in a big company.(他的慈母,曾经是一名优秀的中学英语老师,现在在一家大公司工作。)
例句2:The book is on the table.(书在桌子上。)
The thick book, which I borrowed from the library yesterday, is on the table.(那本厚厚的书,我昨天从图书馆借的,现在在桌子上。)
The old car, which had been running for years, finally stopped.(那辆旧车,跑了多年后,终于停了下来。)
主要方式有:(1)用“and”连接;(2)用“after that”“additionally”“furthermore”“what’s more”“to make things worse”等。
例句1:Mac then jumped off the bicycle.(然后麦克从自行车上跳了下来。)
Mac then jumped off the bicycle and he was ready to fight against the wolf.(麦克从自行车上跳下来,准备跟狼搏斗。)
例句2:She finished her homework.(她完成了作业。)
She finished her homework and then went to the library to study.(她完成了作业,然后去图书馆学习。)
例句3:He opened the door.(他打开了门。)
He opened the door and welcomed the guests with a warm smile.(他打开门,微笑着迎接客人。)
Jane kept moving, but the farther she walked, the more confused she became.(简继续往前走,但她走得越远,就越感到困惑。)
例句2:He wanted to go to the party.(他想去参加聚会。)

例句3:She was tired.(她很累。)
She was tired, but she still managed to stay up late to finish her project.(她很累,但她还是熬夜完成了她的项目。)
除了引导原因状语从句和结果状语从句的连词外,还有“due to”“owing to”“on account of”“because of”“as a result of”等表示原因,“therefore”“as a result”等表示结果。
例句1:He has broken his leg.(他摔坏了腿。)
He has broken his leg and therefore he can’t walk.(他摔坏了腿,因此不能走路了。)
例句2:She was late.(她迟到了。)
She was late because of the heavy traffic.(她因为交通拥堵迟到了。)
The project failed due to insufficient funding.(项目因为资金不足而失败了。)
It was an Art lesson. Rachel sat at the desk watching her classmates busy preparing the water jars and paints. She understood why Mrs. Weston asked her to sit down and got Lisa to fetch everything for her. It was always a disaster when Rachel tried to do Art!
Rachel sighed and reached out to dip her brush in some black paint and—oh, no! She knocked over the jar. The water spread across the desk and drowned the paper. Lisa called Mrs. Weston to see what Rachel had done. Rachel went red in the face. She jumped to her feet to get a cloth. Her chair fell over backwards. She turned round and her paintbrush caught Lisa across the face, giving her a black moustache. Lisa was so surprised that she fell back against a wire bookstand. It came crashing down and the books went all over the floor.
How clumsy! Rachel thought as she went home on the bus. The bus stopped outside her house. She jumped up and her elbow (肘部) knocked a woman’s hat right over her eyes. Oh, no! Rachel said sorry, got off and ran indoors. Mum wasn’t in the kitchen but lay in bed as she caught an awful cold. Rachel offered to make a cup of tea but Mum would rather wait for Dad. Rachel sighed. She understood Mum was afraid she would spill (溅出) it.
“But would you go to Mrs. Willow for some cold cure?” asked Mum. Rachel turned to the door at once. “But Rachel, Mrs. Willow’s house is full of beautiful things, so if she asks you to come in, you’d better say no.” Rachel sighed and ran out.
Mrs. Willow was an old lady with white hair and sharp blue eyes living in an old house. She opened the door and invited her in. Rachel said why she came and that she preferred to wait outside remembering her mother’s warning. Mrs. Willow insisted Rachel come inside. Rachel took a deep breath and stepped in. She looked round Mrs. Willow’s sitting room and saw at once why Mum had been worried.
