Even rocky beaches or those with sheer cliffs barring passage for everyone save the bravest adventurers are not rare. These unique beaches are some of the best treats nature has to offer. Papakolea Beach, Hawaii, USA Papakōlea Beach is a green sand beach located near South Point, in the Ka’ū district of the island of Hawai ’i. One of only two green sand beaches in the World, the other being in Galapagos Islands. Papakōlea Beach is associated with the southwest rift (裂谷) of Mauna Loa. Since its last eruption, the cinder cone has partially collapsed and been partially swallowed by the ocean. San Alfonso del Mar Beach, Chile This beach is located between the largest artificial pool. San Alfonso del Mar Beach is an essential part of the luxurious resort of the same name. It seems a strange spot for the world’s largest swimming pool. But the pool’s remarkable spaciousness (宽敞) complements the ocean beyond rather effortlessly, and jumping in the pool’s 79℉(26℃) water is a much more attractive prospect than venturing into the 63℉(17℃) seawater nearby. Maho Beach, Sint Maarten Maho Beach is a beach on the Dutch side of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, in the country of Sint Maarten. It is famous for the Princess Juliana International Airport next to the beach. Arriving aircraft must touch down as close as possible to the beginning of Runway 10 due to the short runway length of 380 metres, resulting in aircraft on their final approach flying over the beach at minimal altitude. Ocean Dome, Japan This is an artificial beach constructed in the Seagaia re son along the coastal highway outside the city of Myazaki in Japan it has a fully controlled indoor climate throughout the year. The Ocean Dome, which was a popular part of the Sheraton Seagaia Resort, measures 300 meters in length and 100 meters in width. 1. What has Papakōlea Beach experienced in Hawaii? A. One mineral. B. One connection. C. One fierce rift. D. One severe outbreak. 2. What’s the most exciting in San Alfonso del Mar Beach, Chile? A. Jumping into the pool’s water B Learning to jump water in the pool C. Building a spacious swimming pool D. Taking a risk of swimming in the pool 3. What do Maho Beach and Ocean Dome have in common? A. They lie beside good places built. B. They both lie on an island. C. They are both artificial beaches. D. They are both well-known. B After spending her own time in the hospital, Katy has found a way to bring joy to patients. Over 2 years ago, Katy was recovering from spinal surgery (脊柱手术). Though it did aid in adjusting the shape of her spine, she still spent much of her time in recovery. In a recent blog, her mother claims music has provided the most healing for her condition. Music is better than any drug we could ever give her. For the last few years she has tried to figure out the best way to use her voice. She then found out Musicians On Call has regular programs near her, and immediately applied so she could deliver the healing power of music just as it healed her. After her first program, her spirit was getting better and better. “She gave a few lessons to nurses in the hallway and made a doctor into a new fan.” When thinking about why this moment brought so much joy, her mother had this to say: We have been there. We know the days that turn into weeks and seem to go on forever. Katy knows how music can heal the uncertainty in those days and the loneliness of us. I think Katy has found a place to use her voice to bring comfort, to bring joy, to make even the tiniest of patients dance. Special thanks to Katy and her mother for sharing their story on their blog! If you’re interested in helping deliver the healing power of music, we are currently seeking Volunteer Guides and Musicians in Las Vegas, New Orleans, Memphis, and Denver. You can start your Volunteer journey by filling out our application today! 4 When did Katy find a way to bring joy to patients? A. After her mother wrote a blog. B. During her recovery from a surgery. C. Before she was operated. D. When her doctor gave her a few lessons. 5. What kind of organization might Musicians On Call belong to? A. A radio station. B. A network school. C. A network platform. D. A personal blog. 6. What’s the main idea of the third paragraph? A. Katy belonged to what kind of person. B. What was Katy’s favorite programme. C. Katy’s mother played an important role in Katy’s life. D. Music played an important part in Katy’s life. 7. What’s the attitude of the author towards Katy’s action? A. Positive. B. Negative. C. Passive. D. Opposite. C The oceans play a crucial role in lightening global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide emissions. However, in a study conducted by the University of Texas, researchers found that the oceans’ capacity to absorb carbon dioxide (CO₂) would reach its maximum by 2100 and decrease to half of its current efficiency by 2300, based on a climate simulation that was set for a worst-case emissions scenario (设想). The decline happens because of a surface layer of low-alkalinity (碱度) water that hinders the ability of the oceans to absorb CO₂. Alkalinity affects how much CO₂ can dissolve in seawater. Although the emissions scenario used in the study is unlikely because of global efforts to limit greenhouse gas emissions, the findings reveal a previously unknown tipping point that if activated would release an important brake on global warming. “We need to think about these worst-case scenarios to understand how our CO₂ emissions might affect the oceans not just this century, but next century and the following century,” said Megumi Chikamoto, who led the research at the University of Texas Institute. Climate simulations had previously shown that the oceans slow their absorption of CO₂ over time, but none had considered alkalinity as an explanation. The researchers recalculated pieces of a 450-year simulation until they hit on alkalinity as a key cause of the slowing. The effect begins with extreme climate change, which slows ocean currents. This leaves the surface of the oceans covered in a warm layer of fresh water that won’t mix easily with the cooler, more alkaline waters below it. That means more of it is left behind in the atmosphere. This in turn produces faster warming, which sustains and strengthens the low-alkalinity surface layer. Co-author, Pedro DiNczio, said that the discovery was a powerful reminder that the world needs to reduce its CO₂ emissions to avoid crossing this and other tipping points. 8. What may happen after the year 2300? A. More CO₂ is absorbed by the oceans. B. The oceans lose all its current efficiency. C. The world faces even more severe warming. D. The oceans are less crucial to global warming. 9. What does the underlined word “hinders” in Paragraph 2 mean? A. Improves. B. Weakens. C. Prevents. D. Controls. 10. What does Megumi Chikamoto say about the oceans? A. Finding why they slow CO₂ intake was hard. B. They will decide on the future of human beings. C. They will slow down CO₂ absorption gradually. D. Their ability to absorb CO₂ is at its maximum. 11. Where is this text probably taken from? A. A biology textbook. B. A government report. C. A marine fiction. D. An environmental journal. D Bill Gates once said, “I choose a lazy person to do a hard job, because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it.” If the fact that these words were from one of the most financially successfui people in human history doesn’t tell you something, I’m not sure what will. How often do you follow a path in a park, only to see the grass has been trampled on by so many corner-cutters that it’s formed its own little shortcut? These little shortcuts are called “desire paths,” as they basically tell the world that these are people who would rather go the way they want rather than the way others want them to. We don’t always need to make things unnecessarily hard for ourselves. After all, taking shortcuts isn’t always a bad thing in life. Many of the greatest inventions are the by-products of someone simply wanting to find a quicker way to do things. You can be sure that the bicycle was invented by someone who was sick of walking, not to mention the invention of the wheel probably came about after someone didn’t want to carry everything anymore. In an age where saving energy is not only encouraged but something we all need to incorporate more into our lives, these are the people we should be working towards. From finding a better way to go about a given task in work to figuring out a quicker route home, it all comes back to the idea of working smarter being better than working harder. If your mind has worked out a way to make things easier for yourself and get the job done quickly then go ahead and do it. 12. What does the author think of what Bill Gates said? A. Ridiculous. B. Unreasonable. C. Believable. D. Questionable. 13. Why do corner-cutters trample on the grass? A. They are afraid of being left behind. B. They prefer to find a new way they like. C. They just want to follow others’ desire paths. D. They are accustomed to being different from others. 14. Which of the following is advised by the author? A. Take shortcuts only when it is necessary. B Avoid people who like to take shortcuts. C. Always make things hard for improvement. D. Assess the effect of taking shortcuts properly. 15. What is the best title of the text? A. Work Smarter, Not Harder B. Learn from Successful People C. Love Our Parks, Love Our Life D. Find Out Our Own Desire Paths 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Picking up after your dog is interesting, but it must be done. We adopted my niece more than a year ago. My sister was a single mother, and my niece, sister, and her were in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. My sister died. My niece survived but was paralyzed from her lower back down, and she had to come to terms with her mom’s death, adjust to living in our family, and learn how to live her new life in a wheelchair. At first, we were worried about how our kids would react to their cousin living with us. She wasn’t close to us before; the reason we were adopting her was that she didn’t have anywhere else to go. Our kids had met her a few times before. Due to the hospital’s regulations, the only visitors allowed in the hospital she was staying at were adults, and they really preferred that those adults were my wife and me. We tried to have the kids talk on the Internet, but they never really connected. My son in particular can be very resistant to any changes at home and was pretty upset already about the ways we were changing our house to make it more accessible. We brought my niece home after a few months in the hospital, and as expected, my son wasn’t incredibly happy about this. He didn’t say anything to her face about it, but she could tell he wasn’t happy about her being there. The next morning. I woke up at seven, and as I went into the kitchen to start making breakfast, I saw my niece’s wheelchair... but no niece in it. I heard strange noises coming from the living room, and I walked in to see my son with my niece sitting on his shoulders, my niece being very small for her age. 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右:2.请按如下格式作答。 They were both laughing and searching for something on the shelf above the fireplace. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Obviously they had become friends through the discovery of the missing glasses. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2025 届模拟02英语 测试范围:学科内综合,共150分,考试时间120分钟。 1. I helped clean their rooms and accompanied them to chat. We shared stories about our lives, and they told me many interesting tales. I also sang some old songs for them, which made them really happy. This experience made me realize the importance of caring for the elderly. Their eyes sparkled with joy when we talked, and it filled me with a sense of fulfillment. I learned that a little effort can bring so much warmth to others. 第二节(满分25分) 【47题答案】 【答案】 They were both laughing and searching for something on the shelf above the fireplace. I was shocked at first but then a warm feeling spread through me. I asked them what they were doing. My son said, “Dad, her glasses fell up there when she tried to reach for a book yesterday. We are trying to get them back.” My niece nodded and said with a big smile, “Uncle, your son is so strong and helpful.” I smiled and helped them get the glasses. After that, my son carefully put my niece back into her wheelchair. They talked and laughed as if they had been friends for a long time. Obviously they had become friends through the discovery of the missing glasses. From that day on, my son changed his attitude completely. He often pushed my niece’s wheelchair when we went out for a walk. He also helped her with her schoolwork and played games with her. My niece became more cheerful and confident. My wife and I were so relieved and happy to see their relationship develop. We realized that sometimes, a small thing could break down the barriers between people and bring them closer together. 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
