Step 2 Work on Activity 1 1.Play the recording of the speech and ask students to listen carefully and choose the correct situation. 2.Check the answer and have students share their reasons for choosing. Step 3 Phonetics in use 1.Explain the pronunciation rules of /ʃ/、/ʒ/、/dʒ/、/tʃ/ to students and play related pronunciation videos for them to watch and imitate. 2.Read some words containing these sounds aloud and ask students to repeat and correct their pronunciation. Step 4 Work on Activity 2 1.Play the recording again and ask students to complete the personal homepage with the information they hear. 2.Check the answers and ask students to read the completed homepage aloud. Step 5 Work on Activity 3 1.Play the vlog recording and ask students to complete the notes. 2.Listen again and ask students to talk about how Jack expresses surprise.Then have students practise expressing surprise in different situations.
