Guide students to talk about Xu Xiake.
Q1: Who is he?
Q2: What do you know about him?
Q3: What do you want to know about him?
3. Let’s guess.
Summarize and organize the questions raised by students. And then, guide students to use the words and expressions in Activity1 to guess the person’s experience.
Arouse students’ interest and lead into the topic.
Review the expressions to talk about Xu Xiake.

4. Let’s read.
(1)Try to divide the passage into three parts.
(2)Read Para.1-3 and finish the time line of Xu Xiake’s travel experience.
(3) Retell Xu Xiake’s travel experience.
And then ask students: Why does the writer start from Xu Xiake’s last year?
(4) Guide students to Read Para.4 and explore Xu’s achievements.
(5) Explore people’s comments on Xu.
Through above reading activities, students will not only understand the main idea and details of this reading material, but also improve their reading and thinking ability.

Choose-to-do: Make a short video to introduce Xu Xiake and share it with classmates.
