Step 1 Leading in
1.Greet the class.
2.Share some pictures of Sichuan and its famous food and attractions to introduce the topic of this reading passage.
Step 2 Work on Activity 1
1.Show the pictures related to the passage and ask students to answer the questions:What can you see in the pictures?What do you expect from a trip?
2.Guide students to use the words provided to describe the pictures and express their initial feelings.
Step 3 Work on Activity 2
1.Have students read the passage quickly and find out what the writer ate and saw.
2.Ask students to underline the relevant sentences and share their answers.
Step 4 Work on Activity 3
1.Let students read the passage again carefully and tick the correct ideas in the passage.
2.Check the answers together and have students explain their choices.
Step 5 Work on Activity 4
1.Have students complete the chart with the words and expressions from the passage.
2.Invite some students to share their completed charts and discuss the details.
Step 6 Think and share
1.Ask students to think about the questions:What do you think the title means?Would you like to travel in Sichuan?Why or why not?
2.Organise a group discussion for students to share their thoughts and reasons.
