Step 2 Work on 1a 1.Present the pictures related to the stories in 1a and ask students to look at them carefully. 2.Have students predict what might happen in each story based on the pictures and share their ideas in pairs. Step 3 Work on 1b 1.Play the recording of the first conversation for the first time.Ask students to listen only and get a general idea of the story. 2.Play it again and ask students to put the sentences in order according to the story they hear. 3.Check the answers together and ask students to read the ordered sentences aloud. Step 4 Work on 1c 1.Play the recording of the second conversation.While listening,ask students to choose the correct words to complete the sentences. 2.After listening,let students compare their answers in pairs and discuss any differences.Then check the answers together. Step 5 Work on 1d-1e 1.Play the two conversations again.This time,ask students to listen carefully and answer the questions about the stories. 2.Invite some students to share their answers and encourage others to add more details. 3.Ask students to share with their pairs which story they like more.Retell it to their partner.
