In October 2010, I joined an organization to volunteer to work in Thailand (泰国). When I arrived in Thailand, I thought I would be taken to an orphanage (孤儿院). However, I was told that I had to go to the place where I would live alone. And then I knew that my job was to teach English in a school instead of working at an orphanage.
The next day I went to the school and met the children I was going to teach. In the classroom, the children looked at me, saying nothing. No one could speak English, but from their eyes, I knew they were really afraid to learn English. It seemed like a big challenge (挑战) for me, but that was just what I wanted.
Although I loved the children and the challenge, my life in Thailand was quite hard at first. I was alone and there was nobody I could talk to. However, I did not give up. If I had been afraid of difficulties (困难), I would not have travelled all the way from England to Thailand to be a volunteer. Little by little, I learned some Thai (泰语) and started to fall in love with Thailand. Every time I saw the children were active in learning English, I was happy and felt that what I was doing was really worthwhile.
Now I am working in a hospital in Thailand. If you also want to be a volunteer like me, don’t worry too much about the food or the place where you live. After all, as a volunteer, the most important thing is to help people who need help!

Jamie stood looking at the map. He turned it around. He looked up from the map. He looked back at the map. He took a few steps back along the path. He put his finger on the map, and looked up again. “It’s no use!” he shouted. He threw the map away, and sat down on the ground.
I asked him what was the matter.
Jamie said, “We’re lost. We must have taken a wrong turning.”
He did not know where we were. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” he said again and again.

The river was a long way below us. It was getting dark, and it was starting to rain. Jamie started to run. “Come on!” He called. “In an hour, it will be dark and we won’t be able to see where we’re going.”
“Stop!” I shouted. “Don’t run. It’s dangerous!”

阅读下面短文,根据所读内容,完成下面问题。

Charity is big business: in 2020 about 410 billion yuan was raised for charity in China. But every year there is more suffering in the news. Sometimes it feels like people ask us for money everywhere we go. With so many charities, how can they get enough money?
Charity is not a modern idea. Over the years people have found new and interesting ways to get the money they need. In 3500 BC King Hammurabai of Babylon encouraged(鼓励)his people to share their wealth with their poorest neighbours. For thousands of years, the world’s main religions(宗教)have encouraged people to do the same. In the1970s more and more people had televisions, so charities made films of suffering(受苦)children and brought the world problems straight into people’s homes. The 1980s was a time of big business, so charities became more business-like: they made money by making and selling everything from Christmas cards to summer holidays!
In the 1990s, famous people like Claudia Schiffer and Michael Jordan made millions of dollars for big international companies like Citroen and Nike. So charities started using famous people too. During the 1990s Sting planned music events for the Rainforest Foundation. With help from other singers, he earned more than $10 million to help protect the lives of people living in rainforests.
Today, charities are using the “personal touch” to earn money. People give more when they can see their money working in the area they live in, and when they have a personal relationship(关系)with the charity.
Some people never give to charities. They say that their money cannot mend these world-wide problems. This is true, but most people know that a little help is better than none. Look more closely at charity work and you will see that each person can do something to make our world better.

阅读下面短文,根据所读内容,完成下面问题。
请认真阅读下面短文,在文章后的表格中第71~80小题的空格里填入一个最恰当的单词。注意:每个空格只填1个单词。
