Its sturdy trunk, etched with the marks of time, stood like a sentinel guarding the secrets of our family. In the spring, it burst into life, its pink blossoms unfurling like the wings of countless butterflies. The scent of the flowers filled the air, a sweet and intoxicating perfume that seemed to lull the whole garden into a peaceful slumber. I would often sit beneath its branches, lost in the rustling of the leaves and the distant hum of bees. The tree's branches would sway gently in the breeze, as if whispering stories of past summers and the laughter of children who had once climbed its trunk. Sometimes, I could almost hear my grandmother's voice, telling me tales of the tree's magic and the good luck it brought to our family. As the seasons changed, the peach tree transformed itself. In the summer, it was laden with ripe fruit, each one a juicy treasure waiting to be discovered. The leaves turned a deep green, providing a cool shade on hot days. And in the autumn, the tree's leaves turned golden, falling like rain to carpet the ground beneath it. Even now, as I stood by the tree, I could feel its presence, comforting and familiar. It had been a witness to my childhood, my joys and sorrows, and it had always been there, offering its silent support. I knew that no matter where I went or what happened in my life, the old peach tree would always be a part of me, its roots entwined with my own memories and emotions. ‌“Its sturdy trunk, etched with the marks of time, stood like a sentinel guarding the secrets of our family.”‌ 这句话中,作者用“sturdy trunk”和“etched with the marks of time”形象地描绘了老桃树的粗壮与岁月的痕迹,同时将其比作“sentinel”(哨兵),赋予了老桃树守护家庭秘密的使命感。‌“In the spring, it burst into life, its pink blossoms unfurling like the wings of countless butterflies.”‌ 春天里,老桃树生机勃勃,粉色的花朵如同蝴蝶翅膀般展开,这一比喻生动而富有诗意,让读者仿佛置身于花海之中。 ‌“I would often sit beneath its branches, lost in the rustling of the leaves and the distant hum of bees.”‌ 这句话不仅描绘了老桃树下的宁静场景,还透露出作者内心的平静与沉醉。‌“Sometimes, I could almost hear my grandmother's voice, telling me tales of the tree's magic and the good luck it brought to our family.”‌ 作者通过想象祖母讲述老桃树的故事,进一步加深了读者对老桃树情感价值的认识,同时也表达了对祖母和童年的怀念之情。 ‌“It had been a witness to my childhood, my joys and sorrows, and it had always been there, offering its silent support.”‌ 老桃树见证了作者的成长历程,成为了作者情感寄托的象征。 V.描写示例 【示例‌1】‌ In the heart of spring, the cherry blossom tree stands as a delicate symbol of new beginnings. Its pink petals unfold gracefully, like the wings of countless butterflies ready to take flight. The tree's branches are adorned with clusters of blossoms, each one a tiny masterpiece of nature's art. As the breeze whispers through the leaves, a gentle shower of petals rains down, carpeting the ground in a soft pink hue. The scent of the blossoms fills the air, a sweet and fleeting reminder of the beauty of the season. Beneath the tree, children play and lovers stroll, all captivated by the enchanting charm of the cherry blossom. 【示例‌2】 In the autumn, the apple orchard is a bustling scene of harvest and abundance. The trees, heavy with fruit, bow down under the weight of their bounty. The apples, ripe and juicy, hang like colorful lanterns from the branches, their red and green hues blending harmoniously with the golden leaves. The air is filled with the sweet scent of the apples, mingling with the earthy aroma of the soil. Farmers, with baskets in hand, move through the rows, carefully plucking the fruit and placing it gently into their containers. The sound of laughter and chatter echoes through the orchard, a testament to the joy and satisfaction of a successful harvest. 【示例3】 The rose garden is a haven of beauty and romance. The roses, with their velvet petals and fragrant blossoms, stand proudly in neatly arranged rows. Each flower is a work of art, with colors ranging from deep red to soft pink, and from bright yellow to pure white. The thorns that guard the stems are a reminder of the flower's strength and resilience, even as it delights the senses with its delicate fragrance. Bees buzz around the blossoms, their wings creating a soothing hum that adds to the serene atmosphere. He would secretly stick chewing gum (泡泡糖) on the hair of the girl sitting in the front row in the classroom; he would also scare the classmates passing by at the corner of the corridor. However, one thing changed people’s view on him. Last summer vacation, Tom went to visit his uncle in Los Angeles with his mother. He was very excited all the way because he was going to see his cousin whom he hadn’t seen for many years. While waiting at the New York Airport, he kept asking his mother when they could board the plane. His mother simply said he should be patient. The fourth time he asked, a noise not far away attracted him. Pushing through the crowd, Tom saw a little boy lying on a trolley, looking a bit painful. Next to him, an older man was anxiously communicating with the staff. As he was eager to know when he could board the plane, Tom didn’t pay much attention to this incident. At this time, the airport broadcast announced that passengers bound for Los Angeles could board the plane. Tom couldn’t wait to pull his mother towards the boarding gate. Soon, everyone got on the plane. Ten minutes later, the plane began to taxi, indicating that it was about to take off. Tom became even more excited. However, an action by the flight attendant made him a little confused. A staff member walked up to the passenger next to Tom and said, “A little boy who urgently needs to fly to Los Angeles for an operation must board the plane with his brother. But since the plane is full, the last two passengers who boarded need to get off the plane.” Unfortunately, those two passengers and several others were part of a choir (合唱团), and they had an important performance the next morning, which meant none of them could be missing. So they were a little hesitant about this decision. But no one else on the plane offered to give up their seats. At that moment, what Tom did moved the people present. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Three days later, Tom received a call from the New York Airport. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2. In a small town, an elderly woman named Agnes lives alone. Though in her late 60s, Agnes still tries hard to take care of herself and run a small farm. However, she is finding herself struggling to maintain all this. One winter morning, as frost painted the windows with delicate designs, Agnes woke up to unsettling silence — The power was out, and so was the heating. “Another signal of struggling,” Agnes thought to herself. Feeling cold, she wrapped herself in a thick coat and decided to go to the local cafe for a cup of coffee and some warmth. As she stepped out into the biting cold, Agnes felt the pain inside her bones. The streets were unusually quiet, with only a few brave souls braving the elements. She made her way to the cafe, her breath visible in the frosty air. Upon entering, she was greeted by the good smell of fresh coffee. She ordered her usual and found a seat by the window. As she drank her coffee, Agnes noticed a young man shaking outside. He seemed to be debating whether to come in or not. The moment she saw his face, she recognized it was Charlie, who used to enjoy coffee in the cafe and pay for her coffee before they started a pleasant conversation. “There must be something wrong with him,” Agnes thought. She decided to buy Charlie a cup of coffee. Holding a steaming cup of coffee, Agnes approached Charlie and offered him the cup. “Here, this might help warm you up,” Agnes said gently. Charlie looked at Agnes with surprise and gratitude. “Thank you,” he stammered, his hands wrapping around the cup as if it were a lifeline. “I…I lost my job and home. I was trying to... find a job...” Agnes patted him on the arm and said softly, “We all have struggles, but there’s always hope.” With an idea in mind, Agnes invited Charlie into the cafe. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ During his stay with Agnes, Charlie tried to pay back. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 3. Mr. Grey was the manager of a small office in London. I stopped you in this street and asked you to lend me some money, and you lent me £5. because you said you were willing to take a chance so as to give a man a start on the way to success.” Mr. Grey thought for a few minutes and then said, “Yes, I remember you. Our friendship quickly developed as we discovered our shared passion for horses and the excitement of riding a horse across open fields. We spent countless hours together, talking about everything under the sun as we watched the horses playing happily and lively. Ally was very passionate about riding, and it was a joy to share that enthusiasm with her. However, being someone who set high standards for myself and those I cared about, I sometimes found myself pushing her to improve her skills, even if it meant being a bit demanding. One sunny afternoon, during a particularly challenging riding exercise, I suggested a technique that involved a tight turn and a quick jump over a low fence. “That’s too risky,” Ally protested, biting her lips in concern. “I’m not ready for that yet.” “Come on, Ally,” I urged, tapping my foot impatiently. “You’ve got to push yourself if you want to get better.” Our voices rose, and soon we were locked in a heated discussion, and even our horses sensed the tension and became restless. Finally, we both accepted that we had different points of view and decided to leave it at that. But the leftover tension caused a slight but noticeable gap between us. One evening after that argument, as I was helping my parents close up the store, my phone rang. It was Ally. I picked up the phone, my heart still heavy from our earlier disagreement. “Hey,” she began, her voice full of hope. “I was thinking we could try that technique again. I feel like I’m ready now.” I shook my head even though she couldn’t see me. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” I replied, my tone firm. She paused, and I could almost hear her disappointment. “Okay,” she said softly. “I’ll see you then.” The next afternoon, I received a call from Ally’s mother. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I rushed to the hospital and found Ally with a cast (石膏) on her leg. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 5. 21 years after graduating from college, I became a high school English teacher. During my first term as an educator, the kids taught me about high school and life, and what was important to them. It had been 25 years since I graduated from high school, so I had a lot to learn. I listened, took notes, and asked many questions. My students had more hardship (艰难) than what I had been familiar with at their age. Understanding their situations was not easy, but loving them came easily. When my second term began, my classroom welcomed a group of new students, including one young man who lit up the space every time he passed through the door. David stood tall at six feet and four inches. His strong body gave him the appearance of a grown man. His wide smile and bright eyes charmed every person in the classroom. He was smart, too. David seemed to know the answers to everything. For weeks, he controlled the atmosphere of my class. He was very active. He led group discussions, encouraged others to participate, and earned the highest grades. I was so impressed by him and his abilities that I didn’t ask many questions. I didn’t really take time to get to know him as I had to be with my first-term students. A few weeks passed, and we entered the month of February. David walked quietly into the classroom. His usual smile disappeared, and he looked cold. I asked if he was okay, but he didn’t respond. I encouraged him to participate, but he refused. He was just silent and emotionless. I was puzzled, embarrassed, upset and also angry about his behavior in class. Finally, I called another student to my office. I had noticed him often walking in the hallways with David. “Do you know what’s wrong with David?” I asked. He replied, “Oh, Mrs Green, his mom’s birthday is coming, but she was just found to have cancer.” I was shocked and sad.                                    _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hoping to comfort him, I asked,“Can I give you a hug?” _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 6. Nicole Moore was walking around in waist﹣deep water at a beach in Cancún, Mexico. It was the last day of January 2011, and the 39-year-old nurse was vacationing with friends from her exercise group from Orangeville, Ontario, a small town north of Toronto. But at that moment, she was alone. She’d just finished playing beach volleyball, and while the other guests headed back up to the hotel for lunch, she enjoyed the warm water and splashed the sand from her body, the result of some dramatic volleyball saves. She didn’t realize it, but this simple action was creating a disturbance in the sea. Nicole looked up and glimpsed two people on Jet Skis waving at her and yelling in Spanish. She waved back and laughed, thinking they were having fun. What she didn’t know was that they were calling for her to get out of the water. They’d seen two bull sharks, and they were trying to warn her while attempting to scare the sharks back into the deep. One shark did leave, but the other proved more persistent. Instead of turning out to the boundless ocean, it veered in toward the shore. The Jet Skiers yelled once again to Nicole. Only then did she realize something was wrong. Nicole pivoted toward the beach and began to wade in. She felt a bump. What was that? Before she could react, the shark ripped into her left thigh, its barbed teeth tearing into her flesh, down to the bone. The shark yanked away more than a foot of skin and muscle from Nicole’s leg. The water was instantly ablaze with billowing, bright red blood. Though Nicole felt no pain, she knew how much trouble she was in. She needed to get out of the water. But the shark had destroyed her left leg, leaving it useless. She started using her arms to propel herself to the shore, struggling to move forward in the water. As she did so, the shark circled her, and then lunged, clenching her left arm in its jaws. “No!” she screamed. The shark had her entire arm locked in its mouth, and it started to pull her underwater. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ One of the Jet Skiers accelerated toward Nicole, who was close to slipping beneath the waves. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 7. A Warm Reunion Amidst the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala As the Chinese New Year approached in 2025, the air was thick with the festive spirit. Li Ming, a young professional, was caught up in the whirlwind of his job. His boss had assigned him a crucial project, and the deadline was right after the Spring Festival. So, he spent day and night in the office, trying to complete it. On New Year’s Eve, his family was busy preparing for the traditional reunion dinner. His mother called him several times, her voice filled with anticipation. “Ming, come home soon. The dumplings will be ready in a while, and we can’t start without you.” But Li Ming was so absorbed in his work that he kept saying he was almost done. His father, who had been looking forward to watching the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala together as a family, grew impatient. “This is the most important day of the year, and you’re always so busy with work! Can’t you put it aside for a while?” he shouted over the phone, his voice tinged with disappointment. Li Ming felt frustrated. “I’m trying to make a better life for us! You just don’t understand the pressure I’m under,” he retorted, his tone sharp. The argument ended with Li Ming hanging up the phone angrily. But as the clock ticked closer to the start of the gala, Li Ming’s heart softened. He stared at the half-finished documents on his desk, thinking about his parents waiting at home. He realized how much he had let his family down. With a sigh, he decided to pack up his things and head home. When he opened the door, the room fell silent. His parents were sitting on the couch, looking at him with a mix of disappointment and worry. Li Ming took a deep breath and walked towards them. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After the emotional talk, the family sat in front of the TV. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 8. The boys in the block were going to have a roller-skating  (滑旱冰) race next Saturday. They were divided into two teams: the Sunnysiders and the Shadysiders, with five boys on each team. Andy was on the Sunnysiders. They lost last year, so they were desperate to win this time. But Andy knew his short legs made it hard for him to skate fast. One day, Andy was greeted by a pleasant “Hello” as he was putting on his roller-skates. He looked up and saw his new neighbor, Francis. “Hello! ” he replied cheerfully, noticing his neighbor’s long legs. “Wanna skate with me? Look at your long legs! Just the right kind to make you a good skater.” “I’d love to. You know, I’m really good at roller skating and I used to help my team win.” Francis said, his tone now heavy with sadness. “But I lost my roller skates and my mom just cannot afford to buy me another pair.” Andy thought it was a shame for Francis. As a new comer, there were undoubtedly many moments when he must have felt lonely. Andy thought to himself, wondering what he could do for Francis. But he had to say goodbye in a hurry since the team were meeting in the open space on the corner to talk over some plans. When talking to the team captain, Andy suggested adding another boy to their team, Francis. But the captain said “No” as the team knew nothing about him. Besides, the Shadysiders wouldn’t let them take on an extra player. In the following days, Andy practiced very hard with his team. Then came the day before the race when he saw Francis on the sidewalk, watching them skate past, his eyes filled with a sense of loss. Somehow it upset Andy, and his desire to help his new neighbor resurfaced. Then he thought of a way that could not only help his team win, but help Francis fit in. He rushed to Francis, excited to tell him his plan. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The next day, the race began as scheduled. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 9. In the beautiful town Riverview surrounded by rolling hills, lived two brothers, Jack and Tom. They were as different as night and day-Jack, the older by two years, was a keen reader with a preference for quiet moments spent in academic books, his nose often buried in the pages of historical texts or scientific journals. Compared with him, Tom was totally different, full of energy and enthusiasm, always longing for the outdoors. He found joy that came from playing soccer and basketball. The differences between them often led to arguments, creating a gap that seemed impossible to bridge. One summer, their parents, hoping to mend the growing divide between them, decided to send them on a camping trip in the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains. They thought that the fresh mountain air, coupled with outdoor activities, would bring them closer. Unwillingly, the two brothers packed their bags, each secretly hoping that the other would give up at the last minute. But neither did, and soon enough, they found themselves setting up camp under a canopy(顶篷)of twinkling stars, the cool night breeze whispering through the trees. The first few days were tense. They quarreled over insignificant matters-who should carry the water bottle, who got to choose the music during meals, and whose turn it was to gather firewood. Their unpleasant quarrel echoed through the quiet forest, breaking the peace that enveloped them. Each disagreement seemed to widen the crack between them until one evening when things took a dramatic turn. A sudden storm rolled in. The wind howled through the trees, and rain began to pour. In the disorder of securing the tent and gathering supplies to prevent them from getting wet, Tom slipped on a muddy path and hurt his ankle badly. Packed tightly were fourteen silent people. Two of them were my adult children. Holding themselves perfectly still, they stared out at the endless sky. When we reached a height of 4,300 feet, my son’s face turned pale as he carefully inched next to the opening, leaned (倾斜) sideways, and fell out of the airplane. Something went cold in my heart when I realized he was gone. But, only seconds later, instructions were being barked, and my daughter suddenly appeared in the same space just occupied by my son. She seemed a little nervous and then fell away into the wild blue sky after her brother. For a quick moment, a desperate fear overcame me, and I wondered if that was the last time I would see them and whether they would land safely. But the thought soon passed as I felt a strong pull on my pack and was moved into position by our instructor. With a big birthday approaching, two of my adult children had chosen to surprise me with an unforgettable way. I’d wanted to chicken out once we reached the airport, but when I heard a woman celebrating her fiftieth wedding anniversary decided to skydive, I thought that I had the courage to do it, too. The wind blew louder as we went up further, each second feeling like an eternity (永生). My heart pounded in my chest quickly. Below me, the world seemed so distant, a patchwork of green fields and shining water. As I watched my children disappear into the vastness, a part of me wanted to scream, to pull them back into the safety of the aircraft. But another part, a deeper part, understood the excitement they sought and the freedom they had although they were afraid before skydiving. The instructor’s voice showed it was my turn. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ My son and daughter rushed to me when I landed. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 参考答案 1. At that moment, what Tom did moved the people present. He took a deep breath and untied his seatbelt. Standing up, he said firmly, “I’ll get off the plane.” His mother looked at him with a mixture of surprise and pride. The other passengers stared in disbelief as Tom collected his things. When arriving at the boarding gate, Tom saw the boy who he had noticed minutes before. The gratitude in the brother’s eyes was obvious as he thanked Tom and his mother repeatedly. Tom just smiled shyly, and cheered for them. The little boy and his brother boarded the plane at the last minute. Three days later, Tom received a call from the New York Airport. The airport manager first informed him that thanks to his generosity, the boy was saved finally. Then the manager added that they were so touched by Tom’s kindness that they would offer him and his mother free round-trip tickets to any destination of their choice. Tom was overjoyed and employed that chance to get together with his uncle. Tom’s experience taught him that a single act of kindness could have a ripple effect, changing not only the lives of those he helped but also how the world saw him. From then on, he continued to look for chances to make a positive impact, proving that everyone has the potential for great good, no matter their past. 词汇激活 行为类 ①盯着看:stare/gaze ②看到:notice/see/spot ③利用:employ/make use of ④改变:change/alter ⑤寻找:look for/seek/search for 情绪类 ①惊讶:surprise/amazement ②感激:gratitude/gratefulness ③狂喜的:overjoyed/on cloud nine/ecstatic [高分句型1] Then the manager added that they were so touched by Tom’s kindness that they would offer him and his mother free round-trip tickets to any destination of their choice. Struggling with extreme pain, he knew that he had to turn to Campsite medical tent. Noticing his brother in such a situation, Jack’s heart softened immediately. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As Tom healed, the brothers worked together to complete the camping trip. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 10. The side door of the small aircraft was opened wide, and the wind rushed through the cargo hold (货仓). ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ( 1 )原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!
