For over 10 years, Mark and Jenny have turned their home into a great Christmas wonderland.
With more than 74 little toys and over a million bright lights, their house has become a perfect place for holiday visitors. It draws people from miles away.
The idea was born out of an unexpected challenge. Mark once enjoyed driving around to admire Christmas lights. However, he was diagnosed (诊断) with a terrible illness. But he never bent to it. Instead of giving up on the holiday spirit, the couple decided to bring the magic of Christmas to their own home.
“We just buy a few things each year,” Jenny shared. “We love looking at Christmas lights.” But over time, there were more and more Christmas things in their house. “When we see what it does for people that come and see it—the smiles, the laughter…we know that we are doing the right thing,” she said.
Besides the nice lights and decorations (装饰品), the couple offers other things. They leave a box outside. People can write down their wishes on a piece of paper and put it in the box. They also share a website address for visitors to give away money to people in need or leave a message of hope.
Mark and Jenny’s wonderful display (陈列) is more than a wonderful sight (景象). It also shows the true spirit of Christmas—bringing joy to others who are in the face of life’s challenges.

Bad moods (情绪) can be difficult for you and the people around you to deal with. However, people can’t be happy all the time, and it is normal to have bad moods. The best way to improve moods changes from person to person, but trying the following methods can help you find what works for you!
Do something you enjoy. This may sound unclear, but that’s partly because different people have different interests. The key point is that doing something you enjoy will improve your mood by cutting your stress. You know your own interests better than anyone else, so think about what makes you feel happy and allow yourself to do that thing.
Make yourself laugh. Laughing can actually change the chemistry in your body. Things that can make you laugh may include: talking to a funny friend, watching a humorous video or a funny TV show, reading funny articles and so on.
Exercise. There is a strong relation between exercise and moods. Most people experience an improved mood within 5 minutes of exercise. There are many different kinds of exercise, and anything that elevates your heart rate (心率) may improve your mood. You can choose running, swimming or dancing.
Eat a healthy meal or snack. When you are hungry, it is easy for you to get angry. So food has something to do with moods. Eating a healthy meal can make you feel healthier and happier. Fruit and vegetables are good choices. Getting healthy fats can also make you feel full longer. However, avoid fat-free foods.
