[2024·石家庄市部分名校高三上学期一调]In my early teens, I was once given a film camera as a gift. On receiving it, I jumped on my bike, headed to Wimbledon Common and took photos, just for me: photos of trees and wildlife. I was out all day. On my way home I spotted a tree lit up by street lighting and tried to capture its beauty. Rushing home, I put the spent film in a special little envelope and sent it off to a photography store, desperate to see how it would come out. I took many photos then and loved the fact that when you processed your film you got back colour photos which froze the precious moments, gently encouraging the hobby and the payments for processing.
As I grew into adulthood, that simple, deep happiness gradually faded away. One weekend when I was busy answering the work calls, my eyes caught a box in the corner of the room. I suddenly felt a sense of sadness. The stress growing over these years had pushed the camera from beside my pillow to the box in the corner. I thought I needed a change.
I took out the camera and dusted it down. It was a great joy that it still worked. I bought new film and took the camera everywhere I went. Now it is always on hand to accompany me on journeys, to allow me time to myself. Even if the day is full and busy, I can seize some moments for myself to take photos, to observe the world around me.
The wall of my room now holds all my camera equipment on display, along with photos I've taken. To me, the room represents how I've found happiness: by reconnecting to the younger part of myself I laid aside, by allowing room in my life for pleasure to exist, and by creating an environment that allows opportunities for delight.
24.What did the author think of taking photos as a young boy?
A.Inspiring and practical.
B.Tiring yet delightful.

D.He was faced with increasing pressure.
26.What did the author get from picking up his hobby?
A.More fun in the daily routine.
B.New journeys in the wild.
C.Better skills of observation.
D.Different styles of photography.
27.What is the best title for the text?
A.Revisiting Lost Childhood Memories
B.Appreciating Beauty Behind the Lens
C.Escaping Teenage Sadness with Camera
D.Regaining Pleasure Through Photography

[2024·九省联考,阅读C]In his 1936 work How to Win Friends and Influence People, Dale Carnegie wrote: “I have come to the conclusion that there is only one way to get the best of an argument—and that is to avoid it.” This distaste for arguments is common, but it depends on a mistaken view of arguments that causes problems for our personal and social lives—and in many ways misses the point of arguing in the first place.
Carnegie would be right if arguments were fights, which is how we often think of them. Like physical fights, verbal (言语的) fights can leave both sides bloodied. Even when you win, you end up no better off. You would be feeling almost as bad if arguments were even just competitions—like, say, tennis tournaments. Pairs of opponents hit the ball back and forth until one winner comes out from all who entered. Everybody else loses. This kind of thinking explains why so many people try to avoid arguments.
However, there are ways to win an argument every time. When you state your position, formulate (阐述) an argument for what you claim and honestly ask yourself whether your argument is any good. When you talk with someone who takes a stand, ask them to give you a reason for their view and spell__out their argument fully. Assess its strength and weakness. Raise objections (异议) and listen carefully to their replies. This method will require effort, but practice will make you better at it.
These tools can help you win every argument—not in the unhelpful sense of beating your opponents but in the better sense of learning about what divides people, learning why they disagree with us and learning to talk and work together with them. If we readjust our view of arguments—from a verbal fight or tennis game to a reasoned exchange through which we all gain respect and understanding from each other—then we change the very nature of what it means to “win” an argument.
28.What is the author's attitude toward Carnegie's understanding of argument?
A.Critical. B.Supportive.
C.Tolerant. D.Uncertain.
29.Why do many people try to avoid arguments?
A.They lack debating skills.
B.They may feel bad even if they win.
C.They fear being ignored.
D.They are not confident in themselves.
30.What does the underlined phrase “spell out” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Defend. B.Explain.
C.Conclude. D.Repeat.
31.What is the key to “winning” an argument according to the author?
A.Sense of logic.
B.Solid supporting evidence.
C.Proper manners.
D.Understanding from both sides.

[2024·重庆市高三学业质量调研]While rice and wheat are the two most commonly consumed grains worldwide,a study covering more than 100,000 people has revealed that choosing rice as a staple(主要的) food may result in a lower risk of obesity (肥胖).
Researchers collected data from participants aged 35 to 74.The participants responded to questionnaires via facetoface interviews, providing information about their medical history and lifestyle, such as dietary status and physical activity. The researchers divided them into three groups according to their weekly rice and wheat intake. The first group eats rice as their staple food, consuming it either daily or four to six times per week. The second group's staple food is wheat, and the third group consumes both rice and wheat as their staple food, with similar frequency.
The results show that rice preference may be associated with a lower risk of certain obesity types and that higher wheat intake was associated with higher risks of excessive body fat in men and women. However, when wheat lovers changed their staple food to rice five times per week, the participants showed a 36.5 percent lower risk of obesity in men and a 20.5 percent lower risk in women.
According to the researchers, wheat flour absorbs less water than rice when cooked, partly resulting in a higher energy density of wheat than rice. Meanwhile, ricebased dietary patterns often have more fresh vegetables, legumes, meat and fish servings. People with wheat preference tend to eat large bowls of noodles with fewer vegetables or less meat, and sometimes even with a large amount of oil.
The researchers concluded that compared with preference for wheat, preference for rice,or changing from wheat to rice could be associated with lower risks of overall fat accumulation, especially for individuals with normal weight. They also noted that given the vast territory and diverse ethnic groups, further studies may be necessary to fully understand the regional specificity and potential reasons for the observed links.
32.How did the researchers arrange the subjects?
A.By the age. B.By gender.
C.By their territory. D.By their staple food.
33.What can be inferred from the results?
A.We can take in as much rice as possible.
B.Wheat intake makes people fat and unhealthy.
C.Obesity risks can get lower with the shift of staple food.
D.Women are easier to get fat by consuming too much wheat.
34.What is Paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.How people cook their meals.
B.What people should eat for their health.
C.Why people easily get fat by intake of wheat.
D.What ingredients should be included in the diet.
35.What can we learn about the results of the research from the last paragraph?
A.More studies should be done to better understand the connection.
B.People from different places have different preferences for food.
C.Overweight people shouldn't eat any wheat food.
D.People with normal weight won't gain fat again.

[2024·山东省潍坊市高三测评]Studies have shown that students attain more information when reading a hardcopy book compared to reading on a digital device. __36__ And students navigated traditional books more easily, as teachers there put it. Although ebooks offer various navigation tools, physical books' ease of use is irreplaceable. Turning pages is still the best way to read.
Fans of digital books may point out that ereaders have a handy “search” tool. Oldfashioned books also have a search function, in which you turn back to the opening chapter to remind yourself of the hero's surname. They even have a “bookmark system”, which uses a device called a “bookmark”. __37__ By simply turning the page, you can see new information.
Electronic books offer footnote capabilities, but so do traditional books. Using a “pencil”—a favorite tool of schoolkids worldwide—you can mark important passages. This allows you to highlight significant quotes or add your own insights. The absence of a builtin pencil doesn't mean you can't footnote a printed book. __38__ You can use a highlighter, write in the margin (页边) ,or—if you're feeling really adventurous—use a ruler to create your own “book edge” notes.
__39__ Rarely do we get the same “new book smell” from an ereader as we do from a freshly printed book. The concrete experience of physically turning pages and feeling the weight of a book in your hands cannot be matched by an ereader. Actually they make excellent companions during leisure break.
In conclusion, printed books have triumphed over ebooks because they offer an unparalleled reading experience. The ease of use,the emotional connection, and the ability to footnote all contribute to making printed books the preferred choice for many readers. __40__
A.You need to be more creative.
B.You can use smart tools as you like.
C.There's still no substitute for the traditional book.
D.Traditional books also excel at stirring up feelings.
E.In response, one school in Australia abandoned its ereaders entirely.
F.Furthermore, the ability to dogear pages is a bonus of physical books.
G.A “progress bar” indicates what percentage of the ebook has been read.

(2024·贵州铜仁模拟)It was Christmas Eve when my sister and I decided to open our presents before our mom got home from work. She usually came home about an hour after we got home from school, which we thought was plenty of time to sneak a peek (偷看) at the gifts under the tree.
Since my sister was older, and that put her in charge, she opened the first gift while I was ordered to stand guard at the big picture window in our front room.I was to report any suspicious (可疑的) activity or persons, namely our mother.
Finally, when my sister’s curiosity was satisfied and she had finished wrapping her last present back up,we changed places.
My heart beat so fast that it felt like my chest was moving in and out.My sister reminded me to be careful so I wouldn’t tear the paper, and to wrap the present back up the same way that I had found it.
After unwrapping a few presents,I found it faster to open one end of a present and peek inside.“Cool! Mom and Dad got me headphones for my stereo!” I pulled the headphones out of the box and was about to put them on when my sister shouted,“Quick! Wrap it back up! Mom’s coming!”
My heart hit the floor along with the headphones. My body was as frozen as a snowman.I shoved the headphones back in the box but my hands were shaking so much that I tore the paper trying to wrap it back up.My sister was yelling at me,which only made my hands shake more.I heard the door opened.I thought I was going to wet my pants!
I had just finished burying the package with my headphones in it when my mother came into the front room.I jumped up and said, “Hi, Mom!” She smiled at me and said “Hi” back, but didn’t appear to suspect a thing. My heart began to slow as I took a deep breath. That was close.Too close!

M: I know. Sometimes I wish we’d win a lot of money. But we need to be more realistic. Why don’t you consider teaching an Italian cooking class? You’re a great cook and you could do it at home.
W: Frank, that’s not a bad idea. I could get more experience and build a reputation. And then, eventually, I might be able to teach an evening class at one of the community colleges.
M: See? Aren’t you glad you married me? I have good ideas sometimes.

【原文】M: The most unforgettable experience I’ve ever had? Well, that was three years ago when I was in college, I spent a term studying in London. Even though we speak the same language, English people and Americans are very different, They think that we Americans are friendly and that we have a strong desire to be successful and rich. And I think the British are quiet and gentle. I love the lifestyle there, Going out for afternoon tea was fun, and I always did that with my friends. And I really love the old buildings. We don’t have anything that old in the United States, so it is pretty amazing! By the way, I also went to Australia once. The buildings there aren’t so attractive either. The British also have a different sense of humor, Their comedy shows on TV are really funny, I’d like to say my experience was a positive one, In fact, I’m saving up money so I can go back there again.

C.Exciting and worthwhile.
D.Difficult yet engaging.
25.Why did the author stop taking photos according to Paragraph 2?
A.He wanted to focus on his work.
B.He was struck by sudden sorrow.
C.He attempted to behave like an adult.

【语篇解读】 本文是一篇说明文。作者阐述了争论的意义和赢得争论的方法。
28.答案与解析:A 推理判断题。根据第一段中“This distaste for arguments is common, but it depends on a mistaken view of arguments that causes problems for our personal and social lives—and in many ways misses the point of arguing in the first place.(这种对争论的厌恶是很普遍的,但它取决于对争论的错误看法,这种观点会给我们的个人和社会生活带来问题——而且在很多方面,它首先忽略了争论的意义。)”可知,作者对于Carnegie对争论的看法持批判态度,故选A。
29.答案与解析:B 细节理解题。根据第二段中“Like physical fights, verbal (言语的) fights can leave both sides bloodied. Even when you win, you end up no better off. You would be feeling almost as bad if arguments were even just competitions—like, say, tennis tournaments.(和身体上的打斗一样,言语上的打斗也会两败俱伤。即使你赢了,你最终也不会变得更好。如果争论只是一场比赛,比如网球比赛,你也会感觉很糟糕。)”可知, 很多人尽量避免争论,是因为即使赢了他们也感觉很糟糕,故选B。
30.答案与解析:B 词句猜测题。根据画线短语所在句“ask them to give you a reason for their view”可知,让他们为自己的观点提供依据,即让他们充分阐明他们的观点,spell out意为“解释明白,讲清楚”,故选B。
31.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“If we readjust our view of arguments—from a verbal fight or tennis game to a reasoned exchange through which we all gain respect and understanding from each other—then we change the very nature of what it means to ‘win’ an argument.(如果我们重新调整我们对争论的看法——从一场口水战或网球比赛转变为一种理性的交流,通过这种交流,我们都能获得彼此的尊重和理解——那么我们就改变了‘赢得’争论的本质)”可知,作者认为“赢得”争论的关键是通过交流获得彼此的尊重和理解,故选D。

【语篇解读】 本文是一篇说明文。虽然大米和小麦是世界上最常食用的两种谷物,但一项覆盖超过10万人的研究显示,选择大米作为主食可能会降低肥胖的风险。
32.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。根据第二段的“The researchers divided them into three groups according to their weekly rice and wheat intake.”
根据最后一段的“They also noted that ...reasons for the observed links.”

Stand Up and Exercise, Everybody!
With the trend of neglecting outdoor activities, students are increasingly preferring to stay indoors, unwilling to exercise. In light of this,I’d like to recommend a simple exercise — long rope jumping.
Long rope jumping offers unparalleled benefits. It’s easy to learn and doesn’t take up too much time, making it an ideal workout between classes. Moreover, this activity is fun and exciting for students of all ages. Not only does it enhance our physical well-being, but it also fosters a sense of teamwork.
From my perspective, long rope jumping is an excellent choice for students who want to stay fit while enjoying themselves. So, waste no more time and get moving. You are bound to fall in love with it!

注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
On Christmas morning, my sister and I gave award-winning performances when we opened our presents again.
From then on, my sister and I never opened our Christmas presents early again.
参考范文:
On Christmas morning, my sister and I gave award-winning performances when we opened our presents again.“Headphones!” I shouted excitedly.“Thanks, it’s just what I wanted.” After everything had been opened, my sister and I looked at each other, and our eyes met.Our secret was safe, but somehow Christmas morning didn’t feel the same.To be honest, I felt a sense of loss — the loss of an important element of Christmas — a combination of expectation, surprise and excitement.
From then on, my sister and I never opened our Christmas presents early again.I don’t know if it was that opening our gifts for the second time just wasn’t as much fun as the first time, or if we came too close to getting caught and didn’t want to think about what our mother would have done to us.I came to realize that some good things in our lives are worth expecting and waiting for.Being anxious for instant result isn’t always better. After all, the meaning of life lies more in the process than the result.
