Researchers from Xi’an Jiaotong University collected data from participants aged 35 to 74 who are residents of five northwestern provincial-level regions. They divided the participants into three groups. The first group eats rice as their main food, consuming it either daily or four to six times per week, while consuming wheat less than four to six times per week. The second group’s main food is wheat, and the third group consumes both rice and wheat as their main food, with similar frequency. Then the researchers compared results and found out that rice preference might be associated with a lower risk of certain obesity types in the population of Northwest China. Higher wheat intake was associated with higher risks of excessive body fat and central obesity (stomach fat) in men and central obesity in women, according to the study findings published in the journal Nutrients. According to the researchers, previous animal studies shows that wheat gluten (谷蛋白) promoted weight gain by reducing heat production and energy consumption, while rice protein shows the potential for anti-obesity and triglyceride-lowering (抗肥胖和降低甘油三酯) effects. Meanwhile, rice-based dietary patterns often have more fresh vegetables, meat and fish servings. People with wheat preference in Northwest China tend to eat large bowls of noodles with fewer vegetables or less meat, and sometimes even with a large amount of oil. However, researchers noted that given the vast territory and diverse ethnic groups present in Northwest China, further studies might be necessary to fully understand the regional specificity and potential hidden reasons for the observed links. 8. What do you know about the study in Northwest China? A. People can eat rice to lose weight. B. Eating rice will help you live longer. C. Rice is the perfect choice for people who are fat. D. Eating rice may reduce people’s risk of being fat. 9. How did the researchers figure out the findings of the study? A. By offering examples. B. By referring to some data. C. By making a comparison. D. By quoting an expert’s opinion. 10. What does the previous animal study show? A. Wheat gluten reduced weight gain by reducing heat and energy. B. Rice protein has the potential to fight obesity and lower triglyceride. C. People often eat noodles with more fresh vegetables, meat and fish servings. D. People who prefer wheat in Northwest China tend to cat small bowls of noodles. 11. What will the researchers probably do next? A. They will carry out further studies. B They will change their research methods. C. They will promote rice as the main food. D. They will figure out the number of ethnic groups in China. D 9. C 10. B 11. 根据第一段“While rice and wheat are the two most commonly consumed cereal grains worldwide, a study covering more than 100,000 people in Northwest China has revealed that choosing rice as a main food may result in a lower risk of obesity.(虽然大米和小麦是世界上最常见的两种谷物,但一项覆盖中国西北地区10万多人的研究表明,选择大米作为主要食物可能会降低肥胖的风险)”可知,吃米饭可以降低人们变胖的风险。 根据第三段“Then the researchers compared results and found out that rice preference might be associated with a lower risk of certain obesity types in the population of Northwest China.(然后,研究人员比较了结果,发现对大米的偏好可能与中国西北地区某些肥胖类型的风险较低有关)”可知,研究人员通过比较来弄清楚这项研究的结果的。 根据倒数第二段“According to the researchers, previous animal studies shows that wheat gluten (谷蛋白) promoted weight gain by reducing heat production and energy consumption, while rice protein shows the potential for anti-obesity and triglyceride-lowering (抗肥胖和降低甘油三酯) effects.(根据研究人员的说法,先前的动物研究表明,小麦麸质通过减少热量产生和能量消耗来促进体重增加,而大米蛋白则显示出抗肥胖和降低甘油三酯的潜在作用)”可知,之前的动物研究表明了大米蛋白有对抗肥胖和降低甘油三酯的潜力。 根据最后一段“However, researchers noted that given the vast territory and diverse ethnic groups present in Northwest China, further studies might be necessary to fully understand the regional specificity and potential hidden reasons for the observed links.(然而,研究人员指出,考虑到中国西北地区广阔的领土和多样化的民族群体,可能有必要进一步研究,以充分了解区域特异性和潜在的隐藏原因,以观察到的联系)”可推知,研究人员接下来可能会进行进一步的研究。故选A。 D Deep within the Yukon, one of the most densely wooded areas of Canada, sits a patch of land that is unlike any other forest on the planet. Instead of a canopy of treetops spreading across the horizon, tens of thousands of signposts perch haphazardly one on top of the other. They are all part of the Signpost Forest, the largest collection of signs from places around the world. At last count, the Signpost Forest in Watson Lake, located about 10 miles north of the U.S.-Canadian border, contains 91,000 signs from spots near and far. The tradition began during the Alaska Highway Project in 1942, when U.S. soldier Carl K. Lindley spent time in Watson Lake recovering from an injury. A commanding officer asked him to repair and erect the directional signposts, and while completing the job, the homesick soldier added a sign that indicated the direction and mileage to his hometown: “Danville, Illinois, 2,835 miles.” Others followed suit, and the trend caught on. Each year, an average of 1,000 new signs are being added to the collection. Lindley’s original sign has since been lost to time. Fifty years later, in 1992, Lindley and his wife Elinor made the pilgrimage back to Watson Lake to place a replica, which is still there. The Signpost Forest takes up a couple of acres, with huge panels snaking through the trees. There are street signs, welcome signs, signatures on dinner plates, and license plates from around the world. There are also a lot of familial signs; for example, a grandfather will put up a sign and then years later family will come back and try to find it. A lot of these are personal signs to literally say that they are here. Though the visitor center has wood and paints on hand to help create a sign, many people opt to bring their own signs, though illegally, by snatching a metal sign from their hometown and nailing it to one of the wood posts. The forest has grown so vast that the visitor center no longer tries to keep a detailed list of the signs. 12. What does “The tradition” in the second paragraph refer to? A. Counting the number of signs in the Signpost Forest. B. Replacing the natural forest with signs of different kinds. C. Putting directional signposts on the highways of the Yukon. D. Bringing signs to the Signpost Forest from around the world. 13. According to the passage, which of the following is true about the first sign in the Signpost Forest? A. It remained in the Forest until 1992. B. It was erected by an American soldier. C. It was first put on the Alaska Highway. D. It was brought from Lindley’s hometown. 14. Which of the following is closest in meaning to the word “replica” in the second paragraph? A. List. B. Trunk. C. Copy. D. Border. 15. What is the last paragraph mainly about? A. The origins and sizes of the signs in the Signpost Forest. B. The quantity and variety of the signs in the Signpost Forest. C. The difficulty of categorizing the signs in the Signpost Forest. D. The practice of nailing illegal signs to the posts in the Signpost Forest. D 13. B 14. C 15. 根据第二段“The tradition began during the Alaska Highway Project in 1942, when U.S. soldier Carl K. Each year, an average of 1,000 new signs are being added to the collection.(这个传统始于1942年的Alaska Highway计划,当时美国士兵卡尔·K·林德利在沃森湖养伤。一位指挥官让他修理和竖立路标,在完成这项工作的同时,这位思乡的士兵在上面加了一个标志牌,标明了到他家乡的方向和距离:“伊利诺斯州丹维尔,2835英里。”其他人纷纷效仿,这一趋势开始流行起来。每年,平均有1000个新标识被添加到这个收藏中)”中“Others followed suit, and the trend caught on.”和“an average of 1,000 new signs are being added to the collection”可推知,上文的“The tradition”是指人们开始将世界各地的标识带到路标森林。 根据第二段中“The tradition began during the Alaska Highway Project in 1942, when U.S. soldier Carl K. 根据第二段中“Lindley’s original sign has since been lost to time. Fifty years later, in 1992, Lindley and his wife Elinor made the pilgrimage back to Watson Lake to place a replica, which is still there. (林德利最初的标志已经随着时间的流逝而消失了。50年后的1992年,林德利和他的妻子埃丽诺朝圣回到沃森湖,放置了一个replica,它仍然在那里)”可知,林德利最初的标志牌已经找不到了,50年后他故地重游,重新放了一个“复制品”,所以划线词与copy同义。故选C项。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。根据最后一段中“The Signpost Forest takes up a couple of acres, with huge panels snaking through the trees. There are street signs, welcome signs, signatures on dinner plates, and license plates from around the world. There are also a lot of familial signs (路标森林占地几英亩,巨大的面板蜿蜒穿过树木。这里有街道标志、欢迎标志、餐盘上的签名,还有来自世界各地的车牌。还有很多家族标志)”和“The forest has grown so vast that the visitor center no longer tries to keep a detailed list of the signs.(森林已经变得如此广阔,以至于游客中心不再试图保留一个详细的标志列表)”可推知,最后一段主要讲了路标森林中指示牌的数量和种类。 Many people experience culture shock when they travel to new countries and adjust to foreign cultures, which usually occurs in the first or two months. I wouldn’t waste my time where I didn’t perform as strongly. And this belief served me well. My academic standards were high. I was the star player of all the teams I joined. My friends would joke about my pursuit of perfection, but in my eyes, it was the only sure path to success. In the second term I joined the cross-country running club. When I came to the first practice, I was filled with the desire to make the varsity (校队) team. But as the distance we ran each practice gradually increased from three, to four, to six miles, I realized that no matter how hard I tried, I was one of the slowest on the team. This realization disappointed me. And the pain in the muscles following every practice was unbearable. I wanted to quit! What was the point of putting myself through so much pain and being the slowest racer? Then we had our first cross-country race. When we got off the bus, the sight of the other teams warming up made my hands sweaty. When we started the race, I felt the enormous pressure of expectations sink onto my shoulders. It was a challenging course, consisting of a series of winding and rocking hills. After a while I stopped running and struggled up the last hill. The steps under my feet felt as heavy as thousands of pounds, mirroring the weight of my despair. With every racer passing me, frustration washed over me-I would never win honor for my team. I’d just be letting them down. With every passing second, my ambition fell apart. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ My team’s support encouraged me to move on. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 With every passing second, my ambition fell apart. I even couldn’t find any runners around me. I thought they may be running to the final line now. It was a tiring course. Just then, I heard people calling my name from the top of the hill. Surprisingly, my coach and teammates were smiling and cheering for me. I was confused and embarrassed because my performance was terrible. However, they gave me encouragement by waving to me and applauding for me. My team’s support encouraged me to move on. I stopped caring about my performance and ran to the final point with all my might. As I was jogging up the last section of the hill, my coach and teammates all applauded me for my efforts. Not until then did I realize my coach and teammates didn’t care how fast I ran. I learned I shouldn’t attach too much importance to the result. In fact, the process is more important. After that meet, I continued cross-country and focused on enjoying the journey. 词汇激活 行为类 ①集中:focus on/concentrate on ②继续:continue/go on ③意识到:realize/be aware of 情绪类 ①累人:tiring/weary ②尴尬:embarrassed/ awkward 【点睛】[高分句型1] I was confused and embarrassed because my performance was terrible. Which words can best describe Oumarou? A. energetic and humorous B. determined and hardworking C. generous and talented D. selfless and positive C While rice and wheat are the two most commonly consumed cereal grains worldwide, a study covering more than 100,000 people in Northwest China has revealed that choosing rice as a main food may result in a lower risk of obesity. B. They will change their research methods. C. They will promote rice as the main food. D. They will figure out the number of ethnic groups in China. D Deep within the Yukon, one of the most densely wooded areas of Canada, sits a patch of land that is unlike any other forest on the planet. Many people experience culture shock when they travel to new countries and adjust to foreign cultures, which usually occurs in the first or two months. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力1-5 BBCAC 6-10ABCBC 11-15CBCCB 16-20AABAC 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
