【原文】M: Good afternoon, dear listeners. In today’s program, I’d like to talk about a common exercise. Many people love running early in the morning. Why? Actually it has many benefits. Not only will you begin a day more relaxed, but also you’ve already had a sense of achievement. If you’re also eager to enjoy the benefits of a morning run, try these. First, getting ready for a painful start. To many people, getting up early in the morning can be a great pain, especially in cold winter days. So early to bed, early to rise, and make it a habit. Of equal importance is to keep an open mind. Even if you’ve made enough preparation and determination, there are still times, when you want to quit. My advice is to accept the setback and instead of giving up, keep going. Another helpful way is to find someone to be together with you. This can make things more interesting. He or she not only gives you company, but also serves as a monitor.

I’d finally got some alone time as a new mom. I put on my running shoes and I found my rhythm as my feet hit the ground. My adrenaline (肾上腺素) kicked in as I told myself, “This is my comeback.” Prior to giving birth to a baby, I had been a runner since my 20s. Running made me feel free and it brought me a sense of peace I couldn’t find anywhere else. The harder my feet worked, the more I relaxed.
Now, as a new mom in my late 30s, I was picking running back up to prove to myself I was still the old me. However, it was not easy. My legs were weak as I shuffled (拖着脚走) down the track. I felt defeated. The old me had never felt so far away. Running felt like a burden, and the joy was far away from me. Even worse, I felt like a living dead at home. My son wasn’t sleeping through the night, which was exhausting all my extra energy.
However, I kept going. I went out for a run again and again. A few times a week, I pulled on my shoes and slowly, my one mile route turned into a 5kilometer. Gone were the debates in my head over whether I was a good mom and whether my house would ever be clean again. Running just let me be.
I had signed up for the half marathon I ran annually before my son was born as a motivation. When I began running the marathon route felt so long, but then suddenly, it was over. When I crossed the finish line, I felt like a champion wearing my participant’s medal. My finish time was just a number; what mattered more to me was the journey.
Through my running experience, I have realized that nothing is impossible to a willing heart, not only running, but also anything else.

B. Half marathon seemed longer than expected all the way.
C. What is worth doing well is to achieve high scores.
D. What the author can gain during the process matters most.
27. What message does the article convey to readers?
A. Where there is a will, there is a way. B. A good beginning is half success.
C. Actions speak louder than words. D. Time lost cannot be regained.

The Last Generation is an activist group in Germany, the name implying that our unsustainability will push us to extinction. To force their government into action, some of the group went on a month-long hunger strike in August 2021. It wasn’t a half-hearted effort: several ended up in hospital.
But I’d like to take the opposite framing. I think we have the opportunity to be the first generation that leaves the environment in a better state.
There are two kinds of optimism: complacent optimism and conditional optimism. Complacent optimism is the feeling of a child waiting for presents. Conditional optimism is the feeling of a child who is thinking about building a tree house, “If I get some wood and nails and persuade some other kids to help do the work, we can end up with something really cool.” The group actually did take bold action, yet I want to address the climate crisis from a different angle.
Yes, my framing seems hard to believe. I’ll explain why. Here I’m using the term “generation” loosely. I am from a generation that will be defined by our environmental problems. I was a child when climate change really began. I will see countries move from being almost entirely dependent on fossil fuels to being free of them. I will be 57 when governments hit the “2050 deadline” of reaching net-zero carbon emissions that so many have promised.
But, of course, there will be several generations involved in this project. There are a couple above me and a couple below me. And we all need to work together to achieve that.
For a conditional optimist, criticism is essential. We need to work through ideas to find the most promising ones. Most innovators have been optimists. But they were also strongly critical: no one would pick apart the ideas of Thomas Edison or Marie Curie more than they did themselves.
Don’t look away from the climate crisis that faces us. Let’s face up to it, not from a place of “damage control” but with a clear vision of the future we can build: one that not only stops warming in its tracks but builds a better world for us, all of us, and the species hat we share the planet with.
28. Why is The Last Generation introduced?
A. To blame them for their action. B. To remind Germany of its duties.
C. To discuss the author’s perspective. D. To demand urgent action from everyone.
29. What is the core of complacent optimism?
A. Belief in kindness. B. Passive expectation.
C. Brief satisfaction. D. Love of presents.
30. What does the underlined phrase “pick apart” in paragraph 6 mean?
A. Turn to. B. Identify with. C. Find fault with. D. Make an assessment of.
31. What does the author intend the readers to do?
A. Envision and engage. B. Adapt and advance.
C. Inspire and innovate. D. Explore and expand.
【答案】28. C 29. B 30. C 31. A
根据首段中的“The Last Generation is an activist group in Germany, the name implying that our unsustainability will push us to extinction. To force their government into action, some of the group went on a month-long hunger strike in August 2021.(“最后一代”是德国的一个激进组织,这个名字暗示着我们的不可持续性将把我们推向灭绝。
根据划线短语前的“Most innovators have been optimists. But they were also strongly critical(大多数创新者都是乐观主义者。但他们也非常挑剔)”可知,作者认为创新者都是乐观主义者,但也非常的挑剔,结合划线短语所在的句子“no one would … the ideas of Thomas Edison or Marie Curie more than they did themselves.(没有人会比他们自己更……托马斯·爱迪生或玛丽·居里的思想)”可知,此处指的是这些创新者因该是非常挑剔托马斯·爱迪生或玛丽·居里的思想,所以画线短语的意思与“挑剔”意义相近。故选C项。
【31题详解】
推理判断题。根据尾段中的“Let’s face up to it, not from a place of “damage control” but with a clear vision of the future we can build: one that not only stops warming in its tracks but builds a better world for us, all of us, and the species hat we share the planet with.(让我们正视这个问题,不是站在“损害控制”的立场上,而是对我们可以建设的未来有一个清晰的愿景:一个不仅可以阻止变暖的趋势,而且可以为我们、我们所有人以及与我们共享这个星球的物种建立一个更美好的世界)”可知,作者呼吁大家正是这个问题,对我们可以建设的未来有一个清晰的愿景,由此可知,作者希望读者能够设想并参与其中。故选A项。

Walk any direction in Las Vegas and it’s easy to find machines doing human work. Robots can serve food, and behind the bar, machines are pouring out drinks.
Not only are lower-wage jobs replaced by robots, but technology like ChatGPT, which is a form of generative AI, will affect white collar jobs, too, in fields like accounting and data entry. In some cases, AI will help make workers more productive, while other roles might be removed entirely. AI is also likely to create brand new jobs that don’t even exist yet.
“Wherever the resort industry can replace their workers and not affect productivity, profits or the customer experience-wherever they can do that with artificial intelligence-they will. We need to move to those occupations that are more highly skilled, that are not easily replaced by AI and that provide a greater level of balance so we’re not so hard-hit,” said John Restrepo, principal at RCG Economics in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas city officials are starting to prepare workers for that shift now. At the panel (专家组) hosted by the local Chamber of Commerce, Tony Yee, who owns a small company in the city, said he wanted to learn how to use AI to help him with tasks like dealing with customer evaluations. “AI is the next frontier. It’s just like how people didn’t believe in the Internet in the 90s. This is the next revolution, and if you’re not on board, you’re going to be left behind. And I don’t want to be left behind,” Yee said.
There is another person, Sabrina Bergman, who works at the Tipsy Robot, a bar inside Planet Hollywood in the Las Vegas. Her job is to help the robot do its job, tending bar. When the robot accidentally tips over a cup, she resets it. If the robot doesn’t pour a full drink, she tops it off. Bergman said she was not worried about being unemployed-even the bar just opened a second location earlier this year.
32. What is paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. The benefits AI brings to various businesses.
B. The fields where machines make a big difference.
C. The impact AI produces on different occupations.
D. The technological progress on the jobs front.
33. What do Restrepo’s remarks imply?
A. Humans would be hard-hit without AI.
B. Humans need to improve to live with AI.
C. Highly skilled occupations must be supported by AI.
D. Service industry should take customer experience seriously.
34. What is Tony Yee’s attitude towards AI?
A. Supportive. B. Objective. C. Negative. D. Uninterested.
35. Why is Bergman unworried about being out of work?
A. She has set up a new bar. B. Robots don’t replace humans entirely.
C. Businesses can’t afford enough robots. D. Other workers are behind her in work.
【答案】32. C 33. B 34. A 35. B
【解析】

【32题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第二段“Not only are lower-wage jobs replaced by robots, but technology like ChatGPT, which is a form of generative AI, will affect white collar jobs, too, in fields like accounting and data entry. In some cases, AI will help make workers more productive, while other roles might be removed entirely. AI is also likely to create brand new jobs that don’t even exist yet.(不仅低薪工作被机器人取代,ChatGPT(一种生成式人工智能)等技术也将影响会计和数据录入等领域的白领工作。在某些情况下,人工智能将有助于提高工人的工作效率,而其他角色可能会被完全移除。人工智能还可能创造出目前还不存在的全新工作岗位)”可知,本段主要讲述人工智能对不同职业的影响。故选C项。
【33题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“We need to move to those occupations that are more highly skilled, that are not easily replaced by AI and that provide a greater level of balance so we’re not so hard-hit(我们需要转向那些技能更高职业,那些不容易被人工智能取代的职业,那些提供更高水平的平衡的职业,这样我们就不会受到太大的打击)”可推知,人类需要改进自己,以确保与人工智能共存。故选B项。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段“Tony Yee, who owns a small company in the city, said he wanted to learn how to use AI to help him with tasks like dealing with customer evaluations.(在香港拥有一家小公司的Tony Yee说,他想学习如何使用人工智能来帮助他完成处理客户评估等任务)”和“AI is the next frontier. It’s just like how people didn’t believe in the Internet in the 90s. This is the next revolution, and if you’re not on board, you’re going to be left behind. And I don’t want to be left behind(人工智能是下一个前沿领域。这就像90年代人们不相信互联网一样。这是下一场革命,如果你不参与,你就会被抛在后面。我不想被抛在后面)”可推知,Tony Yee对待人工智能的态度是支持的。故选A项。
【35题详解】

Anyone with a story to tell can write a book, either for their own enjoyment or to publish for all to see. The following are some tips to help you.
Understand why you’re writing a book. Before you start writing or even thinking about your book, be honest with yourself about your reasons for writing it. ___36___? Or do you simply have a great story that you want to share with the world?
___37___ There’s no one ideal workspace for every writer. Some prefer a quiet room, while others work best in a coffee shop. Also, make sure that the place you choose works with your preferred writing medium. If you want to write on a desktop, make sure to have a suitable desk nearby. ___38___. That’s because it’s easy to lose focus if your back aches.
Establish daily and weekly writing goals. Instead of hoping to produce ten pages at a time, try setting a goal to write one page each day. Set your writing goal based on your writing speed and any specific deadlines. ___39___
Get feedback often. You might have a group of fellow writers, friends or family members with whom you can share your works in progress. It is likely that you’ll go through many rounds of feedback and revisions before your book is published. ___40___ — it’s all part of the process of writing the best book you can!
A. Don’t get discouraged
B. Choose a workspace that works for you
C. Is it necessary to further your education
D. And try not to change it after you’ve set it

During the festival, there were various activities. Different clubs set up their booths, presenting their unique features and achievements. There were also wonderful performances such as singing, dancing, and drama.

When I was in middle school one of my classmates, Wilson, came from a financially disadvantaged family. Without support from the local government, he wouldn’t have been able to gain knowledge with us. Wilson always kept a low profile despite his shiny academic performances and basketball skills.
In a class meeting, our head teacher, Lily, told us to share our ideal jobs on stage. When it was Wilson’s turn to share, all of us fixed our eyes on what he was going to express. He had never talked about his dream with anyone of us. Contrary to my assumption that he wanted to become a scientist, he said, “I desire to become a professional basketball player, but I don’t know whether it’s possible for me. I just have no money to realize this demanding dream.” Lily, who was experienced in inspiring students, persuaded Wilson to persist in enhancing his basketball skills in spare time. She also noted that every dream deserved respecting.
Three months later, Wilson’s birthday came. Our monitor, Diana, put forward an idea that all of the classmates prepared a gift for him together. Without hesitation, we were totally for the idea. However, no one knew what kinds of gifts Wilson loved. It seemed a headache for us to pick out a suitable gift. Suddenly, Diana broke the silence, saying, “Maybe we can consider Wilson’s dream — basketball. Selecting something about playing basketball will cheer him up.” We all nodded. With our tasks assigned, we set out to make preparations for Wilson’s birthday, ranging from decorating settings, raising money, to buying a birthday cake.
That day finally came after five days. We planned to give Wilson a big surprise. Therefore, we just informed him that the P. E. teacher was waiting for him on the basketball court. Undoubtedly, he ran to the basketball court. Meanwhile, the whole class were expecting his arrival, hoping to witness the surprise with him. Soon, Wilson entered the basketball court, unaware of what would happen next. “Happy birthday!” we screamed excitedly.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】 Diana led Wilson to see the birthday cake, which reminded him of his dream. “Wilson, we have no idea of what your beloved gift might be. Thus, we eventually reached an agreement that a birthday cake was something that would allow us to share the joy with you,” said Diana. The image on the cake caught his attention, which was composed of a boy, a basketball and a net. It conveyed the message that the boy was redoubling his efforts to throw the basketball into the net.
Moved by our warmth and special gift, Wilson extended his thanks to us. “Thanks for your thoughtful arrangement. This scene will linger vividly in my mind permanently,” said Wilson. One of the classmates persuaded Wilson to light up the candles and make a wish. He plucked up his courage to express his wish of becoming a professional basketball player. Applause coming flooding in, we were delighted that he was determined to stick to his dream. Feeling over the moon, we cut the cake and enjoyed the greasy yet delectable cream together.

Can you picture it? You spend your days doing various tasks around the sanctuary (禁猎区). Anything from repairing enclosures, feeding the animals, maintaining gardens, or taking photos of the animals.
For most people, getting to see one of these animals is a bucket-list experience. Especially if they get to interact and help with the rehabilitation of these injured forest animals. Seeing a sloth pick its way through the canopy is one thing. But interacting with a sloth every day, and watching it make progress as it heals from its injuries, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

However I kept going.
When I began running, the marathon route felt so long, but then suddenly, it was over. When I crossed the finish line, I felt like a champion wearing my participant’s medal. My finish time was just a number; what mattered more to me was the journey.
Through my running experience, I have realized that nothing is impossible to a willing heart, not only running, but also anything else.

When I was in middle school, one of my classmates, Wilson, came from a financially disadvantaged family.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;

Diana led Wilson to see the birthday cake, which reminded him of his dream.
