[健康教育]Loud music can be exciting. But it can hurt your ears. A new study found that more than one billion teens and young people around the world are at risk of losing their hearing. Young people’s hearing problems mainly come from two things: using headphones(耳机) and going to loud places.
Studies showed that when young people use headphones, they often listen to music at as high as 105 decibels(dB,分贝). The sound at entertainment places(娱乐场所) is usually between 104 and 112 decibels. That’s well above safe listening

levels(水平). The World Health Organization says the safety line is at 80 dB for eight hours a day.
The louder the sound is, the shorter the time a person can safely listen to the sound is. For example, at 92 dB, the safe time is 2.5 hours. At 101 dB, the time is just 19 minutes.
So remember the 60/60 rule: set the volume(音量) of your headphones to 60 percent and only listen to music for 60 minutes. If you go to loud places, remember to take a break from the noise.
