Firstly, we will invite some famous experts on environment to give classes about how to make the least rubbish. The classes will be given on Tuesday and Thursday evenings every week. After the class, each student is advised to put what he learned in class into practice.
Secondly, we have no-car days. Every Monday is the no-car day. On a no-car day, nobody comes to school in a car-not only the students but also the teachers! Cars give pollution to our air, so remember: walk, jump, bike or run. Use your legs! It has lots of fun!
Thirdly, as we all know, water is rare and precious. And in big cities, water is in fact in short supply. So in the Environment Clubs the most important thing to do is to save water. We will give you some useful advice on how to save water both at home and at school.

He started his journey in early 2015. At that time he was a 15-year-old boy living in Satellite Beach, Florida, near the Kennedy Space Centre. He had used his birthday cash to buy a camera and began practising by shooting* rocket launches. Living on Florida’s Space Coast gave him many chances to practise.
However, he wasn’t sure his hobby was going to be his life’s work. “When I first started in early 2015, photographing rockets was just like Oh, look, there’s a launch tomorrow night. I guess I’ll take photos!” Kraus wrote.
But online attention and increasing photo sales led him to take a deeper look at his hobby. Could he really turn his hobby into his career*? Some of the greatest problems we face today are the destruction (破坏) of our environment. Brown clouds, polluted water, endangered wild animals... these problems seem so huge.
So my family does what we can. We take cloth bags to stores instead of using plastic bags. We walk where we don’t have to drive...
But does it do any good? When I am the only one in line at the market with cloth bags, am I doing any good? Does my walking to stores make any real difference to the world?
I recently learned something about flamingos (火烈鸟) which like to get together in groups of a thousand or more. Every year, when the time comes for migration (迁徙), a few of them first take off from the lake. But none of the others seem to notice, so the small group returns. However, the next day they try again. This time a few more fly along with them, but most of them still pay no attention, so they return again. They try for several times. Every time a few more birds join in but, since the thousands of others still take no notice, the great migration plan is once more stopped.
Then one day something changes. The same small group of birds once again starts flying and a small number more join in just as before, then more. Finally, they all take flight and the migration really begins. What a spectacular (壮丽的) sight it must be—thousands of flamingos taking off into the sky at once!
A few can make a difference. Even if you’re the one to take the first step, and continue trying others will someday take notice and together we will solve even our greatest problems.
36. Where would you most probably read this passage?
A. A guidebook. B. A movie poster.
C. A personal blog (博客). D. A science magazine.

A. Because he wants to do some good to the environment.
B. Because he thinks plastic bags are more expensive.
C. Because there are only cloth bags in stores.
D. Because all the people use cloth bags in stores.
38. Why does the small group of flamingos return to the lake?
A. Because they are very tired.
B. Because they can’t find food out there.
C. Because there are some dangerous animals.
D. Because the others don’t fly along with them.
39. What’s the writer’s purpose of writing this article?
A. To show that the writer loves to see the migration of flamingos.

※ The science of hunger
If you’ve ever been “hungry”— that is so hungry that it makes you angry—you’ll be happy to learn that scientists have begun studying the causes of this unpleasant condition and recommending (推荐) fixes.
Researchers from the University of North Carolina asked some people of hunger to write a story about either their feelings or their daily lives while others not. After a stress (精神压力) experiment, it turned out that people who had written stories about feelings (and were therefore focused on these feelings) felt less stressed or angry, even if they were hungry.
The main point: Realizing how you feel reduces the chance that hunger will influence your feelings. Mindfulness training can help with that. Of course, if you’ re hungry, eating also helps.
※A photo a day keeps the doctor away
Taking a photograph each day and sharing it online is a popular hobby. To find out how this habit influences health, British scientists did research by interviewing the creators of online photo journals. They discovered that daily photography improved interviewees’ lives in several ways: It made them consider the present, it pushed them to go for walks to get their photos, and it gave them chances to communicate with folks who share their interests. Moreover, it may help some fight against loneliness.
“I’ll stop and take a photograph of this insect sitting on my computer or something. Just taking a moment is very good and beautiful I think,” one participant says.
40. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. The story. B. The result. C. The experiment. D. Stress.
41. What advice is helpful to reduce the influence of hunger?

Working Out through Online Videos
Physical exercise is good for our mind, body and spirit. Today, working out through online videos is becoming very popular. Since the Internet is widely used, it’s very easy for us to do so. That means we can work out anytime anywhere.
One of my friends, Lin Fei. followed short workout videos to do daily exercise. “With live programs, I feel like working out with my friends, which encourages me to hold on to the last minute.” she said. Another friend of mine, Michael, told me that workout videos let him feel so comfortable. “I have a fear of working out at the gym(健身房)because I don’t like being watched by others. Working out at home makes working out much more enjoyable.” he said.
With their examples, I decided to give it a try. When I told my plan to my elder sister, a P.E. teacher, she reminded me that workout videos could be helpful but might still carry some problems.
“Without being with someone in person, you will be less willing (愿意的)to work out to your best. Working out at the gym allows you to have advice in real time and get pushed harder.” my sister said to me. “Well, if you really want to have a try. first, choose proper programs or videos. That’s very important. And then ask your friends for advice. Their experiences can give you a good sight into what you can expect. Anyway, don’t be addicted(沉迷的)to it. You should try different ways to work out to be healthy.”
At her suggestions, I finally followed an online workout program with personalized help that is held for three months. After the first period of training, I felt it very practical and helpful when I put in the right amount (量) of work along with a strong will. At a young age, John Kraus is a professional photographer. He has been taking photos of rocket launches for different magazines since 2016, as well as selling them to different buyers. He’s even travelled to California just to take photos of two different rocket launches.
After graduating high school, he decided to work as a full-time photographer. Kraus spoke about some of the challenges of deciding what kind of job he wanted to do.
“Parents, teachers and all of those around us often say we should know as soon as possible what we want to do with our life,” he said. “It’s okay to not know what you want to do! But it’s important to try new things. Never pass down a chance to try or experience something new. You’ll never know when you find the aim of your life; it could be right in front of you.”

37. Why does the writer use cloth bags in stores?
A. Because he wants to do some good to the environment.
B Because he thinks plastic bags are more expensive.
B. To tell readers to continue trying and it can make a difference.
C. To introduce a special kind of flamingo to readers.
D. To show that there are many problems in the world.

Compared with going to the gym, using online videos to work out is a much cheaper and time-saving choice. But it can be difficult sometimes when I’m too lazy or too busy to stick to it.
