表示因果关系的连词有as a result结果, thus/therefore因此,so (such).
注意在选项中查找表示结果、结论、 总结等的信号词,如therefore,as a result, thus, hence, in short, to sum up,to conclude,in a word等词语,选项中也可发现前文的同义词句。

If you’re looking for ways to improve running, here are the best tips for getting better at running.
Stick to running. The key to getting better at running is to train frequently and consistently. Constant practice gives you time to perfect your form and commit it to muscle memory. 6 If you are experienced, try at least 5 days a week.
Set a comfortable pace. If you run too fast, you’ll feel out of breath and you might not want to finish your run. Instead, run slower than you need to. Pacing yourself can be one of the biggest challenges. 7
Warm up before and after you run. Before you start your workout, walk or jog slowly for 3 to 5 minutes to allow your muscles to get used to the activity. 8 After you reach your goal, walk or jog for 3 to 5 minutes to cool down, prevent blood from collecting in your legs, and allow your heart rate to decrease.
9 Combine other activities with your running routine to improve muscle endurance, build strength and keep you injury-free. Weight training, yoga and swimming are all good choices. You can include 1 to 2 hours of other training into your running volume.
Listen to your body and make adjustments. 10 Even small changes in your breathing can be a sign to slow down or speed up. Tightness, pain, and discomfort are all signs to slow down, change your form, or stop and recover.
A.Improve your running form.
B.Go on running 1 or 2 miles every day.
C.Add other exercise forms to your running routine.
D.Your body gives you important signs when running.

Four Habits of Highly Effective Students
The key to becoming an effective student is learning how to study smarter, not harder. 11 The following are the top four study habits used by highly successful students.
Don't attempt to cram (塞满) all your studying into one study period.
Do you frequently stay up late to complete your assignments or prepare for tomorrow's exams? 12 Successful students rarely try to complete all of their studying in just one or two study periods. You need to learn to have regular, yet shorter, study periods.
13
It's important you create a daily study routine. When you study at the same time each day and each week, your studying will become a regular part of your life. If you have to change your schedule from time to time due to unexpected events, that's okay. However, you'd better get back on your routine as soon as the event has passed.
Each study time should have a specific goal.
14 You need to know exactly what you need to achieve during each study period. Before you start studying, set a study period goal that supports your overall academic goal.
Never delay your planned study period.
It's very easy and common to put off your study period for lack of interest in the subject, or just because the task is hard. 15 If you do, your studying will become much less effective and you may not get everything completed.
We're confident that if you develop the habits above you'll see a big improvement in your study.
A.Study at the same time.
B.If so, it's time for a change.
C.Effective students usually study smart.
D.But successful students do not put off studying.
E.Simply studying without direction is not effective.
F.It would lead to a great number of mistakes you should have avoided.
G.Most successful students achieve success by developing effective study habits.

(24-25高一上·广东潮州·期末)Exercise benefits our physical health as well as helps to reduce anxiety and stress. Yet many Americans say exercise is not something they enjoy. So Health psychologist, Kelly McGonigal proposes how exercise helps us find happiness, hope and connection. 16
Take your workout on the road
17 “We know that mindful forms of movement, as well as moving outdoors in nature, tends to put the brain in a state of this heightened awareness to the present moment that feels like connection to life,” McGonigal said. “People often feel a relief from stress and worrying. It’s changing which systems of the brain are most active and putting you in a state like meditation (冥想).”
18
Queue up your favorite playlist and get moving. “If you’re doing a workout where you’re listening to music you love that’s high energy, you’re moving to the beat, and you’re doing things that really get your heart rate up.” she said. “And the brain chemistry also really helps you feel connected to other people.”
Join the group
Being social helps you exercise. “Make movement social. We know that people form friendships and communities of support through movement, whether it’s strength training or running.” McGonigal said. 19 “People who exercise, they report having better relationships with others and to be able to connect with others better.” McGonigal said.
Change your mindset to one of gratitude
While you are moving, find ways to appreciate your body for being able to move, as opposed to monitoring it. “ 20 or Thank you, body! for having the energy to let me do this.” McGonigal said.
That’s how these tips can help you gain a source of joy and hope. McGonigal hopes you can tap into joy through movement.
A.Turn on the music.
B.Head out into nature.
C.Also, joining the group get you to move.
D.Adopt a mindset switch of Wow, body!
E.Try exercise on the road to activate brain.
F.Exercise also helps you be more social.
G.Here are some tips that might turn things around.

Natural disasters can strike at any time, and schools are no exception. Here are some steps for students to take to survive when a natural disaster hits schools.
21 . Every student should have a personal emergency kit that includes essential items such as a flashlight, batteries, a first-aid kit, water, and non-perishable food. Keeping this kit at hand can ensure students are always prepared.
Practice regular drills. Regular disaster drills are just as important as fire drills. They help students learn what to do in real emergency situations. Schools should conduct such drills regularly to ensure that students know what to do when a real disaster occurs. 22 .
Identify safe areas. Knowing where safe zones are in the school can be a lifesaver. 23 . Examples include hallways, under desks, or designated shelter areas. These areas should be predetermined within the school and they can provide the best protection during different types of disasters.
Understand the risk types. 24 For example, coastal areas are more likely to experience hurricanes, and landslides are a threat in mountainous areas. Therefore, schools should teach students knowledge about the specific type of threat in their local area so that they can take appropriate action during a disaster.
Take action in different situations. Students should stay calm and take immediate action based on different situations. For example, during a tornado, they should move to the lowest floor of the building and take cover under stable furniture. 25 . Earthquakes require us to drop to the ground, take cover under a table, and hold on until the shake stops.
By following these steps, students can increase their chances of survival and minimize the impact.
A.Offer immediate care
B.Prepare an emergency kit
C.Different areas may face different types of natural disasters
D.In the event of a flood, students should move to higher grounds
E.After a disaster, schools should check on all students and staff
F.These drills will help students react quickly and minimize the risk
G.When a disaster hits, students should head to the nearest safe area quickly

How to Concentrate on Your Homework
Focusing on homework can be tough, especially when you’d rather do anything else. Maybe your attention keeps wandering back to your phone or you just want to take a nap. 26 . Here are some tips on how to concentrate on your homework.
Put away anything that might make it hard to concentrate. If you can’t stop looking at your phone, put it out of reach. 27 Close your computer or switch off your tablet unless you need them for your homework. Turn off the TV or any music that might make it hard for you to focus. If you find that it distracts you, turn it off.
28 Multitasking will actually make you less productive. If you’re doing your math homework, don’t try to listen to a video lecture about biology at the same time. You might feel like you’re getting more done, but it’ll actually slow you down! Wrap up one assignment before you move on to the next.
Study in a quiet, comfortable spot. Try to find a space with lots of light and room to spread out. If you can, choose an area where you won’t be bothered by lots of distractions, like a loud TV or noisy siblings. But be careful studying in your room — if you use a space where you usually sleep or relax, it’ll be hard to get into homework mode! 29
Reward yourself with something fun when you’re done. 30 For example, you could watch your favorite TV show, play a game you like, or call up a friend. When you treat yourself every time you get your work done, you might start looking forward to the work a little more!
A.Work on one assignment at a time.
B.Break your assignments into smaller tasks.
C.You could stick it in a desk drawer or inside your bag.
D.However, it’s a vital element in your academic journey.
E.Moreover, a well-lit room can boost your energy levels.
F.You can pick something good so you’ll be motivated to finish your task.
G.Thus, set aside a spot just for homework, and don’t do your work in bed.

Achieving Success in Journalistic News Writing
No book, article or blog post can turn an ambitious writer into a successful journalist. All that it can do is to help the writer learn to write. The primary skill in learning to write is practice. 31
Among the most convenient subjects are the events and news in the world around us. Such topics are what skilled journalists write about, and that is why we call this form of writing “journalistic writing”.
Journalistic writing is not a special literary gymnastics that requires a special talent and an expansive vocabulary. 32 It is using language to tell what is going on in the world. As such, it requires no special talent beyond seeing and understanding what is taking place around us, to grasp its significance and relation to other events, and to tell others what we have seen and heard.
33 One of the chief characteristics is timeliness and relevance. It has little time to talk about the past, except in comparison with the present. It has little time to foretell the future, except in pointing out the significance of the present. Its subject is today. It is primarily concerned with facts. The writer considers himself a recorder of the things other persons are doing and thinking.
Another basic part of journalistic writing is that the writer prepares it for a definite purpose. Some writers, like novelists, write to use beautiful words and sentences. 34 However, the writer who favors a journalistic style uses English simply to tell what he has seen and heard; he realizes that his reader cares more for the things he tells than for the way in which he tells and expresses them.
Success in journalistic writing demands two important skills. One is the inborn skill to see and understand. The other is the skill to tell what the writer has seen in a way that makes the reader see the same thing. 35 If the writer is eager to excel, he must expand his knowledge and education so he can better understand and evaluate the things he sees and hears.
A.It will not do them any good to write news items.
B.To these imaginative literary writers, they favor expression.
C.To practice writing, one must have something to write about.
D.An ambitious writer can develop both skills if he lacks them.
E.The writer must write it now or never―without giving up quality.
F.Journalistic writing differs mainly in its subject matter and purpose.
G.Instead, it is the plainest, most reserved form of English composition.

In the freezing cold winter, air conditioners and heaters work overtime. The satisfaction of feeling a warm breeze against your skin is an amazing experience. 36
What are to blame are often the inefficient home appliances you have. Luckily, there are smart home appliances that can alleviate this burden. These appliances offer many benefits, all while keeping your electric bill manageable.
37 Smart lighting systems can detect activity in an area and adjust illumination accordingly, providing energy efficiency. In terms of security, smart door locks offer peace of mind by automatically securing your home when you leave.
And smart appliances can do more. From floor-cleaning robots to smart laundry systems, these appliances are equipped with advanced sensors. They make household chores effortless, leaving you more time for recreational activities. 38 You can even set a romantic mood in the living room by adjusting the smart lights and playing a romantic comedy movie on the smart TV.
Now, if you’ re considering switching to smart home appliances, it’s advisable to approach this gradually. 39 Smart lights, switches, plugs, smart hubs, and of course, Wi-Fi are wise choices. These small items play a crucial role in your smart home setup, especially the smart hubs and the Wi-Fi.

期末)Working with zoo animals is a dream job for many people around the world. But the difficulty of an animal keeper’s day is beyond people’s imagination. 41 Here are some ways to prepare you well for working at a zoo.
● 42 This will be especially valuable if you’re doing tasks such as cleaning cages and helping care for various animals. This practical training will attract zoos and show that you’re willing to perform the boring roles that come with caring for animals.
●Ask to help out at a wildlife rehabilitation center (康复中心). 43 Usually, it takes much shorter time than that it would take at a zoo. Here, you can feed baby birds, care for injured animals or help keep databases (数据库) of endangered animals.
●Work with an endangered species group. Most of today’s zoos are no longer just run for the purpose of showing animals that most people would otherwise never see. 44 Volunteering with an endangered species group is a great way to gain experience, especially if the endangered species is of particular interest to you.
●Educate yourself through books or classes. Read whatever books you can find about animals, especially if the books relate to a specific type of animal that holds your interest or discuss zoos and the animals that live there. Also you can take animal-related classes. 45
A.Look for jobs.
B.Volunteer at a local animal shelter.
C.They also serve as a way to keep endangered species.
D.A job as an animal keeper in a zoo requires far more than an interest.

期末)As a speaker of 10 languages, I know the benefits of speaking more than one language. Actually, it is not a big challenge to learn languages. We only have to change the way we learn them. 46
Language learning is hard.
It will be only difficult to learn a language if you don’t want to. 47 What you mostly need to do is spend some time listening and reading. Believe me, it is that simple. I have done it many times. Soon you will feel the satisfaction of understanding another language. Before you know it you start speaking.
48
No, you don’t. Anyone who wants to learn can succeed. In Sweden and the Netherlands most people speak more than one language. They can’t just all be gifted in languages. Foreign athletes in North America usually learn to speak English faster than people in more formal learning environments. In language learning it is attitude that determines success.
You have to live where the language is spoken.
Some immigrants (移民) to North America never learn to speak more than broken English. Yet we meet people in other countries who speak perfect English. In 1968, I learnt to speak Mandarin fluently while living in San Francisco. 49 You can download it to your cellphone and listen. Where you live is not a problem.
I would love to learn but I don’t have the time.
How about the time you spend waiting in line, doing things around the house and going for a walk? 50 Once you get started, even 10 or 15 minutes a day will soon grow to 30 minutes a day, or one hour. If you believe you will achieve great results, and if you enjoy doing it, as I do, you will find the time.
I believe if you can avoid these traps, you will surely become masters of language learning.
A.The following are some tips for you to follow.
B.You have to have a gift for learning languages.
C.Learning a language takes time, but is not difficult.
D.We need to avoid some common misunderstandings.
E.Languages can only be learnt instead of being taught.
F.Why not use that time to listen to a language on your cellphone?
G.With the Internet, language content is available to anyone with a computer

E.This can help you find the perfect workout for your training.
F.Gradually increase your speed until you can run comfortably.
G.But you can tell your pace depending on if you can talk in full sentences easily.

根据下文的内容“Every student should have a personal emergency kit that includes essential items such as a flashlight, batteries, a first-aid kit, water, and non-perishable food. Keeping this kit at hand can ensure students are always prepared.(每个学生都应该有一个个人应急包,包括必需品,如手电筒,电池,急救箱,水和不易腐烂的食物。把这个工具箱放在手边可以确保学生随时准备好。)”可知,本段主要是说每个学生都应该准备一个应急包。所以,B项“Prepare an emergency kit(准备一个应急包)”可以作为主题句,填入空格处。故选B项。
22.空格前的句子“Regular disaster drills are just as important as fire drills. They help students learn what to do in real emergency situations. Schools should conduct such drills regularly to ensure that students know what to do when a real disaster occurs.(定期的灾难演练和消防演练一样重要。他们帮助学生学习在真正的紧急情况下该怎么做。学校应该定期进行这样的演习,以确保学生知道当真正的灾难发生时该怎么做。)”是说学校应该进行定期的灾难演练和消防演练。空格处的句子应该接着说这些演练的意义。所以,F项“These drills will help students react quickly and minimize the risk(这些训练将帮助学生快速反应并将风险降到最低)”填入空格处,符合语境。故选F项。
Knowing where safe zones are in the school can be a lifesaver.(确定安全区域。知道学校里的安全区域在哪里可以帮上大忙。)”说明了确定安全区的意义,空格处的句子应该接着说当灾难发生时,学生应该怎样利用安全区。所以,G项“When a disaster hits, students should head to the nearest safe area quickly(当灾难发生时,学生应迅速前往最近的安全区域)”填入空格处,符合语境。故选G项。
24.根据空格后的例子“For example, coastal areas are more likely to experience hurricanes, and landslides are a threat in mountainous areas.(例如,沿海地区更有可能经历飓风,而山体滑坡是山区的威胁。)” 所以,C项“Different areas may face different types of natural disasters(不同的地区可能面临不同类型的自然灾害)”填入空格处,符合语境。故选C项。
和空格前后的例子“For example, during a tornado, they should move to the lowest floor of the building and take cover under stable furniture.(例如,在龙卷风期间,他们应该移动到建筑物的最低层,并躲在稳定的家具下。)”、“Earthquakes require us to drop to the ground, take cover under a table, and hold on until the shake stops.(地震需要我们蹲下到地上,躲在桌子下面,坚持到震动停止。)” 所以D项“In the event of a flood, students should move to higher grounds(万一发生洪水,学生们应该搬到地势较高的地方去)”填入空格处,符合语境。

【答案】26.D 27.C 28.A 29.G 30.F
26.上文“Focusing on homework can be tough, especially when you’d rather do anything else. Maybe your attention keeps wandering back to your phone or you just want to take a nap.(专注于家庭作业可能很难,尤其是当你宁愿做其他任何事情的时候。也许你的注意力一直徘徊在手机上,或者你就是想小睡一会儿。)”说明了专注于家庭作业很难,人们容易被其他事物分散注意力。下文“Here are some tips on how to concentrate on your homework.(以下是一些如何专注于家庭作业的建议。)”
27.上文“If you can’t stop looking at your phone, put it out of reach.(如果你忍不住看手机,就把它放在够不着的地方。)” 下文“Close your computer or switch off your tablet unless you need them for your homework(关闭你的电脑或平板电脑,除非你做作业需要它们。)”
28.下文“Multitasking will actually make you less productive. If you’re doing your math homework, don’t try to listen to a video lecture about biology at the same time. You might feel like you’re getting more done, but it’ll actually slow you down! Wrap up one assignment before you move on to the next.(多任务处理实际上会降低你的效率。如果你在做数学作业,不要同时听生物学的视频讲座。你可能会觉得你做得更多了,但实际上这会减慢你的速度!在完成一项任务后再进行下一项。)”说明了不要同时做多项任务,要一次只做一件事。选项A“一次只做一项作业”能够概括这段话的意思,且能够引出下文。故选A。
29.上文“But be careful studying in your room — if you use a space where you usually sleep or relax, it’ll be hard to get into homework mode.(但是在你的房间里学习要小心——如果你使用一个你通常睡觉或放松的空间,就很难进入做作业的状态。)”
30.上文“Reward yourself with something fun when you’re done.(完成后用一些有趣的事情奖励自己。)” 下文“For example, you could watch your favorite TV show, play a game you like, or call up a friend.(例如,你可以看你最喜欢的电视节目,玩你喜欢的游戏,或者给朋友打电话。)”

31.根据上文“The primary skill in learning to write is practice.(学习写作的首要技能是练习。)” To practice writing, one must have something to write about.
32.根据上文“Journalistic writing is not a special literary gymnastics that requires a special talent and an expansive vocabulary.(新闻写作不是一种特殊的文学体操,不需要特殊的才能和丰富的词汇。)” Instead, it is the plainest, most reserved form of English composition.(相反,它是英语作文中最朴素、最含蓄的形式。)
33.根据下文“One of the chief characteristics is timeliness and relevance. It has little time to talk about the past, except in comparison with the present. It has little time to foretell the future, except in pointing out the significance of the present. Its subject is today. (24-25高一上·广东深圳盐田.期末)As a speaker of 10 languages, I know the benefits of speaking more than one language.
