阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
A quick response code, commonly known as a QR Code, was invented in 1994 by DENSO
WAVE,a Japanese company.
QR Codes work by allowing a smartphone's camera to scan the entire frame of the Code.It
can then be redirected to a website,an application,or other locations. There, all information
including pictures or videos about a certain thing may be viewed.QR Codes have been
successfully used in various industries. Here are some examples of how QR Codes are used in
the healthcare industry.
Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM)
Patients who join RPM can continuously receive healthcare even without visiting hospitals.
Healthcare providers may also track the progress in treatment plans of their patients using OR
Codes.Every time a patient takes medicine, the QR Code attached to the medicine container
may be scanned to inform the healthcare provider that it has been taken.
Accessible Health Information
Instead of reading medical magazines or spending time searching around the Intemet to
learn more about an illness,QR Codes may be scanned to view all the information regarding a
certain disease.QR Codes may be placed throughout the hospital for patients to scan and read
while they wait in line. This may encourage patients to read and learn more about a particular
illness,as information is made readily available.
Patient Identification
While in medical equipment,a patient may be given a medical band with a personalized
QR Code. When scanned, the OR Code will show the complete medical records of the patient.

This will enable the healtheare provider to easily access the patient's information without looking
around for any physical records. This will save time and effort, resulting in increased patient
satisfaction.

My girlfriend,Jessika, and I were hiking in the National Park.A small pond (
stood in our way.We began to walk through, with me leading the way.About five feet from the
edge,my front leg sank into the sandy bottom. Then both my legs started to sink.I freed my
left leg but couldn't move my right.Jessika handed me a long stick.I jammed it down the side
of my leg and tried to tum and pull it out.Nothing.I was trapped in quicksand.Jessika started
getting the sand out with both hands, but it was refilling faster than she could pull it out.We
couldn't call for help because the only cell reception was five hours away.I told Jessika she had
to hike back and call for help.
Thirty minutes after she left,it started to snow heavily. At some point I fell asleep. Then I
woke up with my upper body slipping backward into the quicksand.I quickly planted my stick
into the dry ground, stopping my fall.I was exhausted.I knew I wasn't going to make it.
An hour later,a light shone across my eyes.A flashlight!I shouted for help.A man
shouted back, running to me.He said that his name was Tim and that Jessika had gotten
through to rescuers. He had hiked up,and the rest of his men was an hour behind him. When
the three others arrived, they set up a pulley system to get me out.Around
noon,the weather lifted,and my rescuers called in a helicopter(直升飞机).When I got to
the hospital,X-rays showed no breaks.I had sat in the quicksand for 12 hours and thought for
sure I would die.But I didn't.

Every time we make a new video or send an email,or post a photo of our latest meal,it's
like tuming on a small light that'll never be turned off. This points to an uncomfortable and
modem question:To help save the planet, should we be using less data? The answer could be
a key point to living in the AI age.
The goal of climate action, according to Berners-Lee,the author of The Carbon (
Footprint of Everything,is“to leave the world's fossil(化石)fuel(然料)in the ground.”
However,in the absence of systemic change, our personal data-usage decisions are really
small.
The big players are making it harder for a single person to do even a very small part,as
they roll out difficult-to-avoid AI features.Google recently announced that it is testing a Gmail
feature that writes your emails with AI.With Apple Intelligence, anyone with an iPhone,an
iPad,or a Mac may struggle to check the weather or set a reminder without a large language
model.
A similar thing is happening with Internet-connected products.Today, about 400 million
homes worldwide have at least one "smart"product.By 2028,that number is expected to
nearly double. Not all of that growth is fueled by customer demand.Recently,I had to settle
for an electric toothbrush with less battery life and less brushing power because the top model
had "smart"Internet-enabled features that I don't want.
We are being led into a world where it's harder to do anything without turning on a digital
light. When we face a digital decision, the less data-thirsty choice will often be the smarter
one, regardless of whether we can measure how much it helps the environment.AI-based
search tools not only use more fossil fuels and water, they are providing false information.
Maybe we don't need to turn everything into data.If I put down my phone the next time
I'm on a train,it won't save the planet. But I'll be looking out of the window with my own eyes,
creating a memory that brings no carbon at all.
高一英语第5页(共10页)(2025.01)

A.To reduce the use of carbon.
B.To keep a record of carbon use.

D.To stop using the fossil fuel in the ground.
29.What are the big players doing?
A.They are trying to make it difficult to use AI.
B.They are bringing convenience to people by Al.
C.They are helping people to play their part by Al.
D.They are making people faced with AI challenges.
30.Why does the author mention the toothbrush?
A.To show one of the digital decisions that he ever made.
B.To show some smart functions are not really necessary.
C.To show the fast development of information technology.
D.To show the growth of "smart"products can't be controlled.
31.What does the author suggest in the last paragraph?
A.Seeing is believing.
B.Memory is more important.
C.Everyone can contribute to saving the planet.
D.Travelling without phones brings no carbon.

With the recent relaxation in travel,I found myself visiting Innsbruck, the capital city of
the state of Tyrol in Western Austria.
This amazing destination is surrounded within snow capped mountains and is perfect for a
short break. You can even enjoy a breathtaking sight at Innsbruck airport as the plane gently
moves between the mountains on its joumey to the runway.

the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I settled here, and it still lives up to its royal (
connections today with its lavish and amazing buildings.I walked round this city

range which offers skiing, hiking via the Nordkettenbahnen cable railway which is just a 20-

landmark in Innsbruck shining in the sunlight, can be viewed from the street, and took my

Of course,no visit to Innsbruck is complete without sampling traditional Austrian food
including my personal favourite-apple strudel with vanilla cream.Roadside cafes are plentiful

Are
you
going
there
with
your
parents
or
with
friends
on
a
package
tour?
M:
My
friends
have
no
time
for
such
a
trip.
I
prefer
DIY
travelling
to
package
tours.
Since
Im
on
a
budget,
can
you
give
me
some
advice
on
accommodation?
W:
Well,
I
think
you
can
choose
a
hostel
instead
of
a
hotel.
It
is
a
form
of
low-cost,
short-term
shared
sociable
accommodation.
It
is
very
popular
among
young
people.

M:

Maybe
I
can
make
some
friends
this
way.

W:
Can
I
help
you,sir?
M:
Id
like
to
buy
a
robotic
vacuum
cleaner.
W:
OK.
Herere
our
cleaners.
How
much
do
you
want
to
spend,
sir?
M:
Well,
Im
not
sure.
I
want
one
that
can
help
collect
pet
hair
in
my
rooms.
W:
I
see.
How
about
this
one?
Its
good
for
carpets,
pet
hair
and
hard
floors.
Moreover,
it
can
work
for
200
minutes
after
being
charged.
M:
Sounds
great.
Does
it
have
any
special
functions?
W:
Yes. It
supports
voice
control
and
total
app
control. You
can
control
it
wherever
you
are
on
the
Mi-home
app.
M:
The
app
control
appeals
to
me
greatly.
How
much
is
this?
M:
It
costs
300
dollars.
Since
we
are
celebrating
our
stores
10th
anniversary,
you
can
get
a
15%
discount.
M:
Wow,
thats
great.
Ill
take
it.

W:
David,
did
you
watch
the
Beijing
Winter
Olympic
Games?
M:
Of
course.
There
were
many
great
athletes,
like
Wu
Dajing,
Gu
Ailing,
and
Xu
Mengtao,
who
left
us
lots
of
exciting
moments.
I
was
deeply
attracted
by
the
18-year-old
girls
performance.
W:
Me,
too.
Gu
Ailing
is
really
a
gifted
skier.
M:
Yes.
By
the
way,
do
you
like
doing
extreme
sports?
W:
No.
I
think
theyre
too
dangerous. What
about
you?
M:
I
have
tried
bungee
jumping,
car
racing,
and
rock
climbing.
And
the
last
one
is
my
favorite.
W:
I
just
cant
understand
why
you
like
doing
these
dangerous
sports.
M:
Well,
as
far
as
I
am
concerned,
doing
extreme
sports
allows
me
to
push
myself
constantly.
Some
of
my
friends
say
they
want
to
make
friends
with
people
who
have
the
same
interest.
Still,
some
want
to
build
their
bodies
through
regular
training.
W:
Sounds
good!
But
I
still
think
we
should
put
our
safety
first.

M:
Betty,
you
look
troubled.
Whats
wrong?
W:
Jim,
Im
in
a
dilemma
about
my
future.
I
was
just
informed
that
Ive
passed
the
national
postgraduate
entrance
examination.
But
two
days
ago,
I
accepted
the
job
offer
from
my
dream
company.
M:
Well,
have
you
asked
your
parents
for
advice?

W:
Yes. They
advised
me
to
continue
my
study.
They
think
degrees
are
much
more
important
than
work
experience.
M:
I
think
so.
If
I
had
a
masters
degree,
Id
be
probably
promoted
to
bank
manager.
W:
Well,
you
know
my
fathers
company
went
bankrupt
three
months
ago
and
my
family
is
on
a
tight
budget
now.
I
want
to
help
reduce
my
parents
burden.
M:
An
understanding
girl.
So
youre
worried
about
the
tuition
fees,
right?
W:
Yes.
I
cant
afford
the
tuition
of
$12,000
a
term.
Its
a
big
sum
of
money
for
my
family.
M:
Dont
worry.
I
can
help
you
apply
for
an
interest-free
loan
in
my
bank.
Its
available
to
students
who
have
financial
difficulty.
W:
Thats
great!
Thank
you
so
much.

M:
Hello,
everybody.
In
todays
presentation,
I
want
to
introduce
my
hometown,
Luoyang.
Luoyang,
a
city
in
Henan
Province,
is
located
in
the
place
where
the
Luo
River
and
the
Yellow
River
join
in
the
west
of
Henan
Province.
The
city
traces
its
history
back
to
over
5,000
years
ago.
Now
the
historic
city
is
being
displayed
on
screen
and
leading
the
way
in
a
new
concept
in
TV
drama
production.
The
TV
series
Luoyang
has
become
one
of
the
most
attention-grabbing
TV
dramas
of
2021
in
China.
Its
director
Xie
Ze
wanted
to
produce
an
unusual
history-themed
work
to
show
off
traditional
Chinese
culture.
The
39-episode
TV
drama
tells
the
story
of
three
people
from
different
classes
uniting
together
to
protect
the
city.
The
story,
characters,
and
setting
of
the
series
set
it
apart
from
other
TV
dramas,
earning
it
high
praise
from
the
audience
both
at
home
and
abroad.
Besides
the
TV
series,
other
TV
works,
such
as
the
documentary
Shendu
Luoyang
and
the
animated
series
Luoyang
can
also
help
us
learn
about
this
city.
If
anyone
in
our
class
wants
to
tour
my
hometown
during
the
summer
holidays,
Ill
be
glad
to
be
your
guide.
Thank
you
for
your
listening. ̆
