一、构词法——派生法和转化法
构词法有三种,即合成、派生和转化。第一单元已经讲过合成法,本单元学习派生法和转化法。
1. 派生
在一个单词前面或后面加上一个词缀,构成一个新词,这种构词法称为派生法。词缀分为前缀和后缀。
加前缀一般不会引起词类的转变,在前缀中有相当多的一部分是用来构成反义的。如:im-, un-, dis-等。而后缀往往使词类改变,如加-ly构成副词。
常见前缀见下表:

2. 转化
一个单词从一种词类转化成另一种词类而词形不变的方法称为转化法。转化法使英语中形成了大量外形相同但词类不同的词,即同形异性词。词性的确定取决于该词在句子中的作用。
