We all have that one teacher who inspired us to aim higher, choose a certain career path, or simply discover our passions. This role comes with not only many satisfactions, but lots of pressure to hold yourselves to a higher standard. The responsibilities of teachers only increased during the pandemic, so teachers had to show compassion for students and parents — often without expecting the same treatment. That’s why it’s so easy to think of teachers as selfless people that give it all for future generations. However, where does that leave teachers? Educators are taught to do many things, but their education is usually lacking in addressing the emotional problems of being a teacher. During the pandemic, I failed to make my online classes as enjoyable as possible for my students. Later, it turned out that other teachers were having problems as well. I had zero reasons to feel so isolated in my experience. What I needed was self-compassion. According to Dr. Kristin Neff, a lead researcher in this field, “Self-compassion is simply compassion directed inwards.” In other words, it’s about showing yourself the same care and understanding that you typically show students or other people in your life. Some people have more self-compassion than others, and working towards achieving more of it can help you in all aspects of your life. Being a teacher comes with so many expectations and responsibilities. In theory, nobody’s perfect, but there’s great pressure to be a good role model, educator, mentor, etc. The inner critic has so much more “material” to work with when you’ re in front of a class. It’s no wonder that in stressful situations, it’s harder to control your self-talk. For example, if you fail to upload a lesson on time, your inner critic will jump at the chance to say, “You’ re so forgetful, and I can’t believe you did this.” It’s no secret that teachers are usually under a lot of stress. A part of the solution can be incorporating self-compassion into teaching which can not only enhance a satisfactory job but also have a good effect on students. 24. What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 2 refer to? A. Teachers’ dedicating themselves to the cause of teaching. B. Teachers’ showing great compassion for themselves. C. Teachers’ suffering from unknown mental pressure. D. Teachers’ failing to learn something in their careers. 25. Which of the following fits with Dr. Kristin Neff’s view on self-compassion? A. Self-compassion is hard for teachers to learn. B. Self-compassion helps teachers understand students well. C. The more self-compassion you have, the more benefits you’ll get. D. The more you understand others, the more self-compassion you’ll have. 26. What can be inferred from the example given in paragraph 3? A. Teachers’ responsibilities matter. B. Teachers have a lot of work pressure. C. Teachers play a big role in students’ life. D. It’s normal for teachers to do wrong things. 27. What is mainly talked about in the text? A. The importance of teachers’ self-compassion. B. The suggestions on raising future generations. C. The necessity of reducing the burden on teachers. D. The approaches to teachers’ growth and development. A 25. C 26. B 27. 第一段中“That’s why it’s so easy to think of teachers as selfless people that give it all for future generations.(这就是为什么很容易把老师看作是无私的人,他们为下一代付出了一切)”指出老师是无私的人,他们为下一代付出了一切;根据指代关系和第二段中“However, where does that leave teachers? Educators are taught to do many things, but their education is usually lacking in addressing the emotional problems of being a teacher.(然而,那对教师来说意味着什么?教育者被教导要做很多事情,但他们的教育通常缺乏解决作为教师所面临的情感问题)”可知,尽管教育者为下一代付出了一切,但他们自己却通常缺乏对自身情感问题的关注。由此可推断出,指示代词“that”指代的是上文中“老师们无私地为教学事业奉献一切”的这一行为。故选A项。 根据第二段中“According to Dr. Kristin Neff, a lead researcher in this field, ‘Self-compassion is simply compassion directed inwards.’ In other words, it’s about showing yourself the same care and understanding that you typically show students or other people in your life. Some people have more self-compassion than others, and working towards achieving more of it can help you in all aspects of your life.(该领域的主要研究人员克里斯汀·内夫博士说:“自我同情只是向内的同情。”换句话说,就是对自己表现出你通常对学生或生活中其他人表现出的同样的关心和理解。有些人的自我同情比其他人更多,努力获得更多的自我同情可以在你生活的方方面面帮助你)”可知,克里斯汀·内夫博士认为自我同情就是对自己的同情,拥有更多的自我同情可以在生活的各个方面帮助你。由此推知,克里斯汀·内夫博士会赞同“The more self-compassion you have, the more benefits you’ll get.(你拥有的自我同情越多,你得到的益处就越多)”。 根据第三段中“Being a teacher comes with so many expectations and responsibilities. In theory, nobody’s perfect, but there’s great pressure to be a good role model, educator, mentor, etc.(作为一名教师,有很多期望和责任。从理论上讲,没有人是完美的,但要成为一个好的榜样、教育者、导师等等,压力是很大的)”和“For example, if you fail to upload a lesson on time, your inner critic will jump at the chance to say, ‘You’ re so forgetful, and I can’t believe you did this.’(例如,如果你没有按时上传课程,你内心的批评者会抓住机会说:‘你太健忘了,我不相信你竟然会这样做。’)” 通读全文,特别是根据第二段中“What I needed was self-compassion. According to Dr. Kristin Neff, a lead researcher in this field, ‘Self-compassion is simply compassion directed inwards.’ In other words, it’s about showing yourself the same care and understanding that you typically show students or other people in your life. Some people have more self-compassion than others, and working towards achieving more of it can help you in all aspects of your life.(我需要的是自我同情。该领域的主要研究人员克里斯汀·内夫博士说:“自我同情只是向内的同情。”换句话说,就是对自己表现出你通常对学生或生活中其他人表现出的同样的关心和理解。有些人的自我同情比其他人更多,努力获得更多的自我同情可以在你生活的方方面面帮助你)”和最后一段“It’s no secret that teachers are usually under a lot of stress. A part of the solution can be incorporating self-compassion into teaching, which can not only enhance a satisfactory job but also have a good effect on students.(众所周知,教师通常承受着很大的压力。解决方案的一部分可以是将自我同情融入教学中,这不仅可以提升工作的满意度,而且对学生也有好处)”可知,文章主要指出教师需要关注自身的情感问题,通过自我同情来应对压力,同时也能对教学产生积极影响,即论述了教师自我同情的重要性。故选A项。 C We all remember that first cry at the movies. Whether they are tears of joy or sadness, it’s quite astonishing that human emotion can be controlled by moving images on a screen. In fact, it all comes from a plan. But what about those heart- breaking stories... for kids? They seem not to sugarcoat the realities of the world. Actually, many great kids’ movies filled with tragedy (悲剧) are purposefully meant to stir up kids’ strong feelings. According to Aristotle, tragedy aids us in facing life’s unsolvable issues through sensible (理智的) thinking. Therefore, the existence of tragedy in kids’ movies is to teach kids to handle, to understand and to heal. The hardest lesson for a child is how to deal with loss, especially if it’s sudden. The cartoon classic The Lion King tells the story of Simba, who experiences the loss of his father. Kids see themselves in Simba’s character. He has dreams. He has a desire to grow and be a part of a bigger world. But it is really heartbreaking to see the loss. Why is a film like this so beloved when it makes kids cry? The lesson it teaches is to overcome hardships and to move forward. Hakuna Matata! Yes, the phrase from The Lion King is to teach kids it’s okay to move on from tragic loss and not to let it define you. It’s an important lesson we learned at a very young age. Sadness should not be ignored (忽视). It’s important to feel sad, and that is why these films are so great. In Dumbo, Charlotte’s Web and Bridge to Terabithia, we lose our beloved characters. This quite upsets kids, but it teaches them to accept sadness and makes something new out of it. So, what is the message behind a sad kids’ movie? It’s meant to teach the audience, especially children, to gain their independence and how to free themselves from tragedy. It’s like a cushion (缓冲垫) that separates stories from reality. It helps children deal with sad feelings when they come for real, or at least find relief by saying Hakuna Matata. 28. Why does the author mention “first cry” in paragraph 1? A. To introduce the topic. B. To recommend a movie. C. To support an argument. D. To explain the reason. 29. What does the underlined phrase “Hakuna Matata” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Viewing sadness as a treatment. B. Seeking knowledge to enrich life. C. Challenging oneself with tragic losses. D. Heading forward without being caught. 30. What can we learn from the last paragraph? A. Children can find a way to hide sad feelings. B. Children can learn to ignore sadness in tragedy. C. Sad kids’ movies prepare children for tough times. D. Sad kids’ movies help children to escape from reality. 31. What is the best title for the text? A. Why Are Great Kids’ Movies So Sad? B. What Is the Power of Great Kids’ Movies? C. Life’s Hardest Lesson: How Kids’ Movies Inspire Us? D. Moving Beyond Reality: What Sad Kids’ Movies Teach Us? A 29. D 30. C 31. 根据第一段中“We all remember that first cry at the movies. Whether they are tears of joy or sadness, it’s quite astonishing that human emotion can be controlled by moving images on a screen. In fact, it all comes from a plan. But what about those heart- breaking stories... for kids? 故选A项。 根据画线部分的上文“The lesson it teaches is to overcome hardships and to move forward. (它教给我们的是克服困难,继续前进)”和下文“Yes, the phrase from The Lion King is to teach kids it’s okay to move on from tragic loss and not to let it define you. (是的,《狮子王》里的那句话是要告诉孩子们,从悲剧中走出来是可以的,不要让它定义你)”可推知,画线部分Hakuna Matata !意为“向前走而不被困住”。故选D项。 【30题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“It’s meant to teach the audience, especially children, to gain their independence and how to free themselves from tragedy. It’s like a cushion (缓冲垫) that separates stories from reality. It helps children deal with sad feelings when they come for real, or at least find relief by saying Hakuna Matata. (它的目的是教会观众,尤其是孩子,获得独立,如何从悲剧中解脱出来。它就像一个缓冲垫,把故事和现实分开。当孩子们真正来到这里时,它可以帮助他们处理悲伤的情绪,或者至少通过说“Hakuna Matata”来找到解脱)”可推知,这些电影让孩子们为艰难的时刻做好准备。故选C项。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中“But what about those heart-breaking stories… for kids? They seem not to sugarcoat the realities of the world. (但是那些让孩子们心碎的故事呢?他们似乎没有粉饰世界的现实)”可知,文章开篇提出了对于儿童电影中那些令人心碎的故事的疑问,然后围绕着儿童电影中存在悲剧元素展开论述,详细解释了许多儿童电影充满悲剧的原因。因此,文章是在探讨出色的儿童电影为何会有悲伤元素,A项“为什么出色的儿童电影如此悲伤”最符合文章主旨,适合作为标题。故选A项。 D Going to college was not optional. In my family, it was just another step toward the American dream. As soon as I graduated, I enrolled (入学)in the English Department of Colorado State University. I went on to earn two scholarships, and membership in the National Honor Society. I truly believed the hard work was worth it. It wasn't until a few months ago that I realized how clueless I was. I had been combing through the classifieds when my eyes fell upon my dream job: “National College Magazine looking for writers ”. Thrilled, I spent the weekend composing a resume . Needless to say, I was stunned when the interviewer barely took one glance before throwing it aside. "No experience," he said flatly. I felt like screaming, "What do you mean, no experience? Look at these grades." I was left to absorb the shock of rejection, thinking that nobody ever told me that a 4. 0 student would be turned down for a job. Didn't all of my hard work count for anything? I see plenty of demands for two years of experience at a print publication, but none requiring extensive knowledge of how to write academic papers. Yet 95% of my energy in school went toward the latter, leaving me little time to devote to anything else. If career preparation is supposed to be the point of college, then why isn't it the focus? Has a college degree just become another societal status symbol like fancy cars or designer clothes? Given my experience, I feel that a college degree would be a lot more valuable if students were required to get some outside experience to supplement their in — class knowledge. Instead of requiring four science classes, why not three science classes and an internship? In my college career, I took one class that taught me how to write and submit essays for publication. This ever — so — brief taste of the real world was like holding an ice cream sundae in front of a child and only giving her a small bite. 32. Why did the author study so hard at college? A. To maintain a family tradition. B. To land an ideal job. C. To fulfill parents' expectations. D. To win scholarships for the tution 33. What accounted for the author's failure in job hunting? A. His dull resume. B. His misjudgment in high scores. C. His lack of experience. D. His poor performance in the interview. 34. What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph imply? A. Academic writing is a small part of college life. B. College education always covers unimportant things. C. Competition in college is not as fierce as that in the real world. D. The author feels held back by his lack of real — world experience. 35. What does the author want to tell us by writing this article? A. Get a college degree and you will go far. B. College students should make the best of their time. C. Career preparation is a necessity for college education. D. Landing a successful career is better than a college degree. B 33. C 34. D 35. 根据文章第二段内容“I had been combing through the classifieds when my eyes fell upon my dream job.当我看到我梦想中的工作时,我一直在整理分类广告”以及后文应征工作时提及:I felt like screaming, “What do you mean, no experience? Look at these grades.我想尖叫,“你什么意思,没有经验?看看这些成绩”和“Didn't all of my hard work count for anything?我所有的努力难道不算什么吗”由此判断出,作者大学时努力学习是为了找到理想的工作。故选B项。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第四段内容:"No experience," he said flatly.( “没有经验,”他干脆地说。)可知,没有工作经验是作者应征工作失败的原因。故选C项。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据划线句在本段末尾,应是对本段的总结,结合本段内容“Given my experience, I feel that a college degree would be a lot more valuable if students were required to get some outside experience to supplement their in — class knowledge. Instead of requiring four science classes, why not three science classes and an internship? In my college career, I took one class that taught me how to write and submit essays for publication.(根据我的经验,我觉得如果要求学生获得一些课外经验来补充课堂知识,大学学位会更有价值。 Teaching your children about world cultures helps them appreciate the differences in people and their traditions. F 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了怎样在家帮助孩子了解世界文化。 【36题详解】 前文“Teaching your children about world cultures helps them appreciate the differences in people and their traditions. Put down the textbook and travel around the globe without ever needing a suitcase. (教你的孩子世界文化可以帮助他们欣赏人与人之间的差异和他们的传统。放下课本,不用带箱子就能环游世界)”引出教孩子世界文化的话题,提到不使用课本、不旅行就了解世界的方法,空处作为段末句,应该指出用什么了解世界,因此E项“Use your imagination to teach your children about world cultures. (用你的想象力来教导你的孩子世界文化)”符合语境,承接前文。故选E。 【37题详解】 前文“Help your kid make a small book to serve as his/her passport. (帮助你的孩子做一本小书作为他/她的护照)”建议为孩子制作护照,后文“That way, you can draw or stick a picture of the country’s flag to stamp the pages of his/her passport as he/she “travels” to learn about world cultures. (这样,当他/她“旅行”去了解世界文化时,你就可以在他/她的护照上画上或贴上该国国旗的图片)”提到某种做法的用处是在护照上做“旅行”的标记,空处应该是建议护照上面要留有空白页,因此C项“The pages should be blank on the inside. (这几页里面应该是空白的)”符合语境,承前启后。故选C。 【38题详解】 后文“What we might do in our home country isn’t necessarily appropriate (合适的) in other countries. Learning about each culture’s customs can be important for you both. Pointing your feet in Thailand is impolite. Your left hand is considered unclean in India, so pass all food or objects to other people with your right one. 故选A。 【39题详解】 前文“Learning a foreign language is fun for children. (学习外语对孩子们来说很有趣)”提到学习外语的趣味性,后文“Learn basic words your child already knows. Teach both written and spoken forms. (学习孩子已经知道的基本单词。教书面和口头形式)”给出学习外语的具体建议,空处应该是总的指出可以教孩子外语,因此G项“When you’re exploring world cultures, study each country’s official language. (当你探索世界文化时,学习每个国家的官方语言)”符合语境,承前启后。故选G。 【40题详解】 前文“For example, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom observe Boxing Day. The holiday’s tradition includes giving money and donations to organizations and people in need (例如,澳大利亚、加拿大、新西兰和英国都庆祝节礼日。这个节日的传统包括向有需要的组织和人捐款)”以节礼日为例,介绍其庆祝的习俗,后文“You can also drop a few bills or donate things to a nonprofit organization. (你也可以放下一些钞票,或者向非营利组织捐赠一些东西)”举出另一个习俗,空处应该也是一个节礼日的习俗,因此F项“To celebrate, the two of you can box some canned goods for the local food bank. (为了庆祝,你们俩可以给当地的食物银行装一些罐头食品)”符合语境,和前后句是并列关系。故选F。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题,每小题1分,满分15分) In this June, Zhong held a(n) ____41____ at the China National Arts and Crafts Museum in Beijing and in the most prominent position, he ____42____ a cloisonné (景泰蓝) vessel called the Zun of Peace. Look forward to your reply. Yours, Li Hua 【答案】Dear Jim, How is everything going? Our Student Union held a debate on whether middle school students could do homework with the help of the internet. Students who support it maintain that many apps can facilitate our learning. For instance, we often use some apps to practice English listening and speaking skills, which can offer us real-time feedbacks. In this way, we can identify our problems and quickly make adjustments. Compared to asking teachers and classmates, it is more convenient and efficient. However, every coin has two sides. Opponents think the drawbacks of doing homework with the help of the internet outweigh its benefits. Firstly, as not so many of us are so self-disciplined, few students can resist the temptation of online ads or games, which disrupts our learning. Moreover, easy access to answers to difficult questions online will foster heavy reliance on the internet and gradually rob us of our independent thinking ability. From my perspective, teenagers can easily fall victim to online distractions. We had better keep a distance from it and refrain from using it while doing homework.(反对) In my opinion, we should use the internet wisely and be fully aware of its possible downsides.(中立) As far as I’m concerned, using the internet to study and work has become the norm of modern society. The earlier students gain the ability to make full use of it, the better it will be for our future development.(支持) What’s your idea about the topic? Look forward to your reply. Some of her organs, bones and muscles were out of shape. No one expected her to survive. She did make it but with her strange body figure, everyone could recognize her, even from a distance. In Emily White’s hometown, there was a yearly outdoor performance in the school auditorium (大礼堂). It had been performed for so many years and actually had become one of the most important events of the Christmas season for many of the town’s people. Many people tried out each year for it, but so many were turned away. It can only include the most excellent people in the field. Emily had a beautiful singing voice. Last year she went to Mrs. Owens — her music teacher to ask to join in the performance. Without letting her sing, Mrs. Owens took a look at Amy’s body and said, “Child, you just don’t fit. Everyone would stare at you and that would make you uncomfortable. It would make them uncomfortable, too.” Without singing a single note, Emily was sent back through the door of the choral room. Hurt and upset, she decided never to try out again. But Mrs. Owens then retired. This year, there came a new music teacher, Mr. Buttler. He heard about Emily and suggested that she have a try. Emily didn’t want to be rejected again, so she hesitated a little about it. As Emily struggled, the door was pushed open and Mr. Buttler called, “Emily, you’re next.” Although kind of nervous, Emily did as Mr. Buttler told her to do. Mr. Buttler sat by the piano to keep Emily company. When Emily finished her testing performance, she thanked Mr. Buttler and knew the result would be posted on the door of the choral room the next day. Emily couldn’t sleep that night. She was suffering from the feelings that she didn’t fit and the great need to be accepted. By the next morning, her stomach was even in pain because of stress. 注意:续写词数应为150左右 Paragraph 1: The next day, Emily nervously glanced at the list on the door of the choral room. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Finally, the day of performance came. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 The next day, Emily nervously glanced at the list on the door of the choral room. She was not rejected this time. Her name was posted at the top of the list. She, Emily White, was chosen to be the leading singer! She would sing alone in the performance. Emily couldn’t believe her eyes. There must be some mistake. But Mr. Buttler said to her with determined eyes, “Emily, I choose you because you should perform the part-your voice is unusual. Believe in yourself.” Greatly encouraged, Emily practiced really hard. Finally, the day of performance came. Standing in front of the line, Emily felt her throat tight and her palms sweating. When the curtain opened up, the eyes of the whole audience fell upon Emily. “Emily White!” Someone whispered. Then, along with the first note of music, Emily began to sing her heart out. Her voice was like a nightingale ringing in the auditorium. Applause! Emily felt so happy and comfortable. She was shining on the stage. Emily White, with so many birth problems in her body, was an angel! 词汇激活 行为类 ①选择:choose/select ②鼓励:encourage/inspire ③开始唱:begin to sing/start to sing 情绪类 ①坚定的:determined/unswerving ②高兴的:happy/delighted 【点睛】[高分句型1] Emily, I choose you because you should perform the part-your voice is unusual. B Teaching is a caregiving profession. We all have that one teacher who inspired us to aim higher choose a certain career path, or simply discover our passions. A part of the solution can be incorporating self-compassion into teaching, which can not only enhance a satisfactory job but also have a good effect on students. 24 What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 2 refer to? A Self-compassion is hard for teachers to learn. B. Self-compassion helps teachers understand students well. C. The more self-compassion you have, the more benefits you’ll get. D. The more you understand others, the more self-compassion you’ll have. 26. What can be inferred from the example given in paragraph 3? A Teachers’ responsibilities matter. C We all remember that first cry at the movies. D Going to college was not optional. 第二节((共5小题:每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Teaching your children about world cultures helps them appreciate the differences in people and their traditions. This year there came a new music teacher, Mr. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$null
